Chris Evans is pretty much a fresh face.
He is completely forgettable and replaceable. Even his name is forgettable XD

Very true, like how I completely forgot he was also in Fantastic Four (a movie I generally would like to forget anyway), Not Another Teen Movie (another movie I would like to forget), and SURPRISINGLY Scott Pilgrim (how the hell did I forget he was in this one too?). It is funny to think that he shares the same name as Thor (Chris Hemsworth who is also somewhat forgettable, but even more of a greenhorn than Evans. At least Evans has somewhat of a distinguishable face…I think it is his eyebrows).
Fortunately Ruffalo is a name I could easily remember (as well as his face) so I hope he sticks around longer as the trademark Hulk.
I actually had no idea he was in any of those movies, two of which I've seen, so that says a lot. I don't think he is remarkable in any way. I agree about Ruffalo. He's also quite different from every other Banner they've cast which I find refreshing.
Hawkeye got paid twice as much as he's worth.
I think the salaries made sense at the time given that when they signed on for their individual movies, the Chris's were relatively unknown. I think it's fair if they make more now since they've become bigger stars. I usually feel some online site like to over dramatize Marvel's salary negotiations because, since after the Terrence Howard situation (although I think everyone could agree he was being greedy since Marvel was still a small studio then) and Ed Norton (which wasn't salary related), they speculate with hopes of being right about turmoil just to get the scoop first. I'm usually weary of the article that don't name sources and refer to some "insider".
That being said, Marvel shouldn't have troubles with negotiations since they have Disney's backing. Not utilizing them if they need to would just be foolish. I'm sure thing will turn out fine, since all parties want things to work out. The actor and Marvel just need to meet at a price that works for everyone.

Yeah, his brief appearance in Scott Pilgrim was the best part of the movie.

Just looked up his role and I don't know if I agree with you, but even after knowing who he played I don't really make a mental connection between actor and character. It feels weird.
I saw Iron Man 3 yesterday. While it was way better than the train wreck that was Iron Man 2, I rarely found myself enjoying it. Stark's anxiety issues felt really forced and Downey Jr. is starting to play his role more robotic than he used to (which of course is often the case when you portray a character for a while). The humour and one-liners also didn't work for me most of the time even though the Mandarin plot was hilarious.
I have to admit I dozed off for about 15 minutes, maybe I missed those central minutes that made the film.
Looks like the 70's isn't the decade that Prof X goes bald either.

I had to look him up too. Didn't recognize him as that role. Maybe it was the voice and hair lol.

I bit my cheek to stop from making a joke about "So, its better than itself?" :ninja: Hehe stopped is its kinda obvious you meant a different IM movie, since you just saw it, I'm guessing IM 3?

Gah I'm showing my age….and the fact I hard-boiled comic fan that doesn't like most of movies variations from canon universes. My first response was "WTF that's not Charles Xavier! He went bald as a teenager when his mutation started to appear!" then I took a breath and remembered "stupid movies really like to change things and are not tied to canon, they are their own lil' universe." ... then I get sick again when I remember how canon will take things from the movies and incorporate it into canon.... (full black uniforms, Mystique's smooth skin goes bye-bye for scale-like appearance)
Mystique's scaly skin lasted for like three months, the leather costumes for three years (and they were better than Jim Lee torpedo-vomiting pouches and belts on characters with a dose of painfully bright pastel colors).
Sadly, it was the Jim Lee era costumes that hit the animated series, so THOSE are the ones most people remember and find iconic.
Even though they were mostly awful.
Ain't nothing wrong with the outfits from the animated series
Except maybe cyclops. But he always looked sorta stupid so what can you do
what was ever the deal with mandarin canonically
was he really asian or was it just his name
he always looked like a spanish guy in almost every incarnation I saw of him (the movie guy was like west asian??? indian? but still not spanish guy)
important questions from people who dont care about superhero comics
Wolverine still wearing yellow and blue spandex in 2013 is something I hate more than #1s, variant covers, shock deaths and retcons. There's a reason why they did away with that silly getup in 1980. And stop wearing a mask already, everybody knows who you are. He's like the only character who still wears a mask aside from Daredevil and Spider-Man.
He was asian (Chinese). Raised by mean aunt, commies took his house, stumbled upon alien stuff, followed the obvious chain of events and decided to conquer the world.
Man he has unfortunate art incarnations
as far as I can google, he either looks like a bad racial stereotype or he's just an aryan with black hair
important and fascinating dissection of superhero comics
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I looked more on google and I guess sometimes the authors do make him look more Chinese
Just all the ones I seemed to see made him look super white
THIS IS A CONFUSING SUPERVILLAIN
I can't imagine that Don Heck ever asked himself does this seem offensive when he jotted down the mandarin
He obviously needed those super slanted eyes or else people like the beast would just think he was a mexican guy squinting
Oh god he does look like a squinting Mexican guy most of the time
The Agents of SHIELD show has officially been picked up for this Fall. More content coming.
I have this card and it is awesome:
Hell, it's been done before in movies. They should've just made him David Lo Pan.

He isn't wearing that silly getup anymore. His modern costume looks similar, but is much better. (Does away with the underwear on the outside, at the very least.)
And stop wearing a mask already, everybody knows who you are.
Ah, but he's such a known force in the Marvel U that him putting on his costume is like putting on his game face. He'll fight you naked and screw you up… but if he's in costume he's prepared to dish out trouble. Sometimes he wants to go slightly lower profile, so that's when keeps the costume off and the claws unpopped.
He's like the only character who still wears a mask aside from Daredevil and Spider-Man.
And Deadpool. And Iron Man. ANd Hawkeye. And Captain America. And Cyclops. And Doctor Doom. (He doesn't even have a secret identity!) And Venom. And Sunspot. And Warbird. And Nova. And Chamber (since he's missing half his face.) And Iron Fist. And Captain Britain. And Black Cat. And Green Goblin. And Shocker. And Scorpion. And Ms. Marvel. And captain Mar-vell. And Ant Man. And Falcon. And Spider-woman. And Black Panther. And a technicality on Ghost Rider. And Medusa. And Baron Zemo. And Blackbolt. And Moon Knight. And Patriot. And Gravity. And War Machine. ANd Winter Soldier. ANd most of Alpha Flight.
ANd over in the DCU you have Green lantern, Flash, Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Dr. Fate, Hawkman…

There was also the '90s cartoon.
That also happened to Ming the Merciless in a Flash Gordon cartoon.
You know, I don't like it at all, but I understand why the original appearance on The Mandarin was so racist by today's standards. He was a Fu Manchu style character in an era where racist depictions were still commonplace and complaints were relatively few back then.
What I don't get is the original appearance of Doctor Strange.

Howard Hughes got weird towards the end.
Steve Ditko really is the best thing to ever happen to the comic industry

I love his Marvel work, but let's not go overboard here; Steve created Mr. A.
All the great ones get a little kooky at the end of their careers.
His previous work more than makes up for Ayn Rand - the comic book

He created Mr. A in 1967; even The Question was basically a softened Mr. A that he could talk Charlton into printing.
I liked Ironman: Armored adventures Mandarin Armor design…
Did he really start that early? I thought he didn't really get into putting those out in any bigger supply til like 99-00
But it does sound perfectly reasonable and in-line with the evolution of his beliefs
I watched Ironman 3 yesterday~
And now I'm wondering if they made the actors practise saying "Mandarin" in a menacing way because all I think of when I hear it is mandarin orange.

When I told my friends the villain was The Mandarin they asked my why Stark didn't just eat it.
Saw Ironman 3, liked it more than I thought I would. The trailers had me fearing the movie would be going toward a more dark aesthetic and feel but they kept the usual wit and banter, Shane Black and RDJ are a match made in heaven in terms of witty dialogue. Like the other two Iron Man movies it didn't quite stick the landing with the climactic battle, though. Like the Avengers, I found the fight thoroughly entertaining but after about 10 minutes of action I started forgetting why I cared.
Still, all in all good movie. Nice ending to the trilogy.

That's a good point about the trailers. I'd forgotten how foreboding they were.
Really not an oppressively dark movie in the least.
Complaints about Wolverine being the link between timelines in 3… 2... 1...
Goddamit Wolverine is not supposed to be there! He's not the link between the timelines, thats kitty! What is wrong with them pimping wolverine? WE GET IT HE'S POPULAR! GOD FUCKING DAMMIT! Don'y change the story and wreck the entire concept.
Sigh. I just… fuck
Given that Wolverine has been the star in 5 movies and Kitty hasn't been in any since the first, it'd be pretty stupid to be entirely beolden to the 2 issue comic that came out 30 years ago, I think.
He makes way more sense than Kitty.
@RobbyBevard:
Kitty hasn't been in any since the first
Kitty had a somewhat prominent role in the third movie. She only had cameos in the first two.
I'm the biggest Kitty Pryde fan and even I say it makes no sense for her to be the central part of the movie. The only thing she has in her favour here is that she's played by Ellen Page.
Wolverine is the only hero, aside from Beast, who is present and alive in both timelines. And Kelsey Grammer isn't in this movie. Singer said from the beginning that he'd rather refer to time displacement in this movie than time travel. None of the other X-Men have actual bodies to warp their minds into.

Oh, right. I'm thinking of Rogue. Who was basically playing the Kitty role.
I only saw the first movie the once, and that was way back when it came out.
Huh. Never realized how much Hugh Jackman looks like a buffer Hugh Laurie.

I actually don't care at all. Just said this to make Kaiolino happy
Snidely whiplash mustache twirl
I hoping we get a sneak peek at some sentinels soon. I'm curious to see what their movie interpretation will be like.
Apparently they had a film shooting for Captain America 2 in Washington DC. Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Scarlet Johansson were all seen there. And apparently…

Saw Iron Man 3..great film, especially
! the after credits..the whole scene plus the line does make me think Iron Man 4 will happen..even though the suits are gone and also Avengers 2 is a stand alone series
Also
! Loved the little cameos of SHIELD, THor and the avengers film.. the Worm creatrure even gets a mention
Also..Thor:the Dark World looks cool according to the trailer they aired during Iron Man 3
