Good episode, fight was done justice.
Japanese Dr. House lost to Law the surgeon of death.
Damn, Nami. Even in Franky's body you need saving.
Aside from the Deguchi animation, I enjoyed this episode.
I'm glad they're keeping up with the expanding on the manga filler, rather then just padding out canon scenes.
Anyways.. preview.
E-Eh .. It was nice. Content-wise, I guess. Some nice creative shots with Caesar. The ending was good.
But why is the animation still so cheap and eye-sore-y? They no longer have the excuse of working on a movie or specials.
Is it my fault for having my standards still being too high? Am I supposed to go into every new episode expecting to see MS Paint stick figures drawn by a pack of epileptic squirrels? I mean cause HEY - I'd have no problem with that!
At least next week's looks more presentable.
Next chap…Chopper locksmith and Law stuff.
"He must be a queer. That's cool."
It looks like Funi subs are going back to translating okama as queer again.
The pacing was handled very well despite only having a chapter's worth of content, so I'd say this was a good episode.
Still love the part where Franky just eats the Rumble Ball without any hesitation. lol
They did a neat job with extending the Yeti Cool Bros. fight. But it won't mean much since we're not going to see them again anytime soon.
And apparently, Smoshigi's open shirt can defy physics. Because the way he(she) was running, her tits should have been completely exposed.
I shot tea out of my nose when Franky said "BUPER!"

HOLY SHIT WHAT WAS THAT?! I forgot to mention it earlier. That was so weird to read. I had to do a double-take at the screen.
Though I don't blame Funimation for it, to be honest. It's a really awkward word to translate from Japanese.
Kinda annoyed how the animation was subpar. I dont mind having shitty animation during conversation scenes but it gets annoying when the fight scnenes look so derp and cartoonish.
Animation looked fine for One Piece standards.
Don't know what you're implying by using the word "cartoonish".

I think it's great that you have high standards but lets face it, we already know there are gonna be plenty of disappointments from now all the way until One Piece is finished so no surprises. And there's nothin' we can do to stop it, Toei isn't listening to what a bunch of Westerners have to say. They aren't even listening to Japanese fans criticisms it would seem. They just wanna make their money and perhaps there are just a few members of staff that really care about One Piece and want it to be the best it can be.

Queer is a perfectly acceptable translation of okama if you ask me. Don't really see what the problem is. Both words are a little awkward and mean the same thing.
Wow, the way Law said counter shock was gay oO. Also Counter Shock didn't look as awesome as i thought. It looked actually kinda weak. I also missed the awesomeness where Luffy took out Franky.First half was utter funny. I loved that scenes in the Manga but Toei made it even more funny. Even Franky in Chopper alone is a epic win : D

That part was excellent haha

I know its probably been asked before but why is it that funimation hasnt switched to the new intro yet?

still the same copyright song issue not fixed yet, some contract issues with toei or the record company who owns the song. they (funi) don't have the right to use it for commercial manners, so funi is kind of forced (to avoid infringement) to use the old opening 'til it fixed.
It was a really good ep if you don't mind the animation, Nice directing by Ueda which is rare. If only Ishizuka sakkaned this ep it would have been the best episode of the arc so far. The animation was so bad, that it was hard to see at some points. Save for the final attack, it looked good compared to the rest of the ep, probably the work of Mayu Saito.
That you know the mountains doesn't explain that you're moving at the speed of light, fool.

Was this directed at me? I just went on a hiking trip.
Decent epi. Been watchin' again since OP 16 came out.

Ah i see, well that makes sense. But man I hope they resolve it soon because i almost feel bodily pain from hearing "we go" so much at this point.
Nice episode. The fight with Brothers was… well...cool and I liked how they showed
! unleashing Smiley.
The ending was just perfect! Law really brought chills down my spine there.
And of course "Buuuubeeeeer!" Was that even in manga, I'm too lazy to check out.
One thing I'm wondering tough is how Law's counter shock works? Does he use his devil fruit or something? :ermm:
Yeah, Franky made this episode. Well, Franky and of course Law.
BUUPER! That one caught me off guard.
I'm still annoyed about the rights issue with the opening. I really hope they get this straightened out soon.
I also forgot about Luffy's ability to control his Balloon. I hope to see more of this in the future.

his fruit is related to an operation room..counter shock is the defibrillator
Cool Episode. Law is cool.
the 'Conter shock' effect is not as cool as in the manga though…
Finally, next episode... Law & Chopper
Someone on the forum said they'd be able to use the new opening starting May 29.
This episode was … SO KUUULU

Someone on the forum said they'd be able to use the new opening starting May 29.
Well.. that's a Wednesday, so I doubt it.
Really nice episode. Art looked better than the recent average. Everything with Franky this episode was amazing (Though Funimation chose the WORST moment to put a commercial. I missed Franky bursting out of the building.). I liked the added scene of unleashing Smiley. The ending gave me chills with that perfect soundtrack usage.
I really hope we get a release of these unreleased New World tracks. Off the top of my head, we got the one with the Straw Hats beating the shit out of Hody and his friends. Now we have this awesome track for Ceaser. I wonder if we'll get any more. Would be great if we get a new track specifically for
! Doflamingo.
Finally, next episode… Law & Chopper http://a.deviantart.net/avatars/g/y/gyaa3plz.png?1
Be careful with the possible spoilers. It won't be as funny if you know about it beforehand.
@Medical:

Yeah… That sounds random. And I domn't see why the requirement would be to have to wait two whole months. My patience won't stand anyway. If the new opening isn't being shown in the next episode, I'll likely start avoiding the simulcast for a while until it gets fixed.
it was a fun chapter, ending was sick as well!
I also forgot about Luffy's ability to control his Balloon. I hope to see more of this in the future.
Yeah I like that, makes a lot of sense that he should be learning how to use his abilities full potential.
Anime only viewer here, I really like the idea of Law and SH becoming allies. It will be a good thing to have someone so powerful in the New World on his side especially because there are some pretty stacked crews and alliances going on. The Navy/World Government seems sooo powerful with Akainu as boss, dude is a monster. Though I can't help but wonder why the Warlords even exist, they've proven themselves time and time again to be completely untrustworthy and basically just pirates with a badge. I think Akainu should gather the weak ones together and kill them all then just release the rest. Maybe even try to trap an especially dangerous one like Daflamingo.
Anyways I feel like Law isn't the type to go back on his word so at the very least he wouldn't backstab Luffy outright. But perhaps I'm wrong about that. Aside from that Law's devil fruit ability is insane and it would be frustrating to have him as an enemy that ability is annoying as hell unless he's on your side haha. Also Law is just plain cool as hell, his submarine is really neat too and I like his weird little koala bear crew or whatever the hell they are. They really fit in with the Straw Hats. I think someday Luffy will save Law's life in return or his crew members and then they will be become good friends.

The World Government knows what they're doing. It's a gamble they take, but not one that's stacked against their favors.
In most cases, the Warlords tend to have greater need of the WG than the WG does of them. People like Boa Hancock (and Jinbe to a lesser extent) have an obligation to serve the World Government for the sake of her kingdom and people. And, without going into spoilers, I'll tell you now that she's not the only one in that boat.
The very point of having Warlords under your control would be to show your power and scare other pirates into NOT messing with you. Akainu hates all pirates, but he's not stupid. Even he has need of them. They're also very handy for whenever an incident like Marineford rears its head around.
@Galaxy:
Well.. that's a Wednesday, so I doubt it.
Which new opening? you talking about new scenes?
Edit: Nvm got it.
Both words are a little awkward and mean the same thing.
Not completely but hey….at least the Cool Brothers approve of either term! That's cool.
.....
U-Um, anyway. Some great shots of Caesar, nice battle scenes with the Marines.....still like how the Cool Brothers are done in the anime (why are they shivering? They're yetis)....and that's cool.
I do think Law's bisecting of Scotch looked better in the manga, although Counter Shock looked fine.
And aside from the art being screwy in a few shots (Cool Brothers are talking about footprints and Nami's like "derr..."), I thought the episode was good overall.
! Athough Caesar's scene reminded me that the subplot with Franky's laser doesn't go anywhere….
Nice episode, felt really packed. I thought it's gonna end the moment the Law showed himself owning cool brother, but we even got some little dialogue. I guess its the same as manga so no suprise here, but Ive read that long ago so i didn't remember :P
The only thing that was weird for me was Smoker's… i mean Tashigi's boobs. They were practically all exposed, except nipples weren't shown. That's kinda wierd, but I guess they can't show nipples but can expose them without them while looking weird? Eh, reminds me of 'boob slide' lol.

You made some solid points there. It's true that certain Warlords pretty much have no choice but to be loyal so that's worthwhile in itself. Also Dracule Mihawk seems like he's cool with being a Warlord as long as he gets to fight strong opponents and their is no shortage of that going on. That is to say he isn't one to plot he just likes a good duel. Plus as you mentioned they are in their own way a symbol of the WG's power, yep good point. So I guess as ruthless and uncompromising as Akainu is even he sees the value in that. Guess I'll have to change my opinion on the matter. Though I still wouldn't be terribly surprised if he just starts magma blasting some of them if he ever gets angry enough haha. That's what I like about Akainu! :P
Was this directed at me? I just went on a hiking trip.
Decent epi. Been watchin' again since OP 16 came out.
Why is there ALWAYS someone asking "me?"? ALWAYS! You weren't even posting anything in this thread until then. Really hope you're trying to troll me.

That's actually not terribly out of character for him. The ones who pick and discard Warlords are the Gorosei, who are above Akainu, but I can easily see him losing his shit and start terminating "ALL PIRATE SCUM!" in a sort of end-game phase at the climax of the story. It's classic villain gone rogue. With his powered-up new Marine forces and new technology from Vegapunk, he'll go power hungry and start eradicating everything, even going against Gorosei orders. Maybe even terminating them himself.
Oh yes. I just made myself tingle with imagination alone.

Haha yes you may have called it. I think we all suspect a huge war will occur right at the end. I mean I can practically feel it in my bones. Whether or not Akainu rebels against the WG remains to be seen but I wouldn't bet against it. He's a damned tyrant and already shown his lust for power and a high degree of intelligence (often overshadowed by his temper however). He's the most aggressive character in the series by far and perhaps the most capable leader. And he's not above killing his own people, remember when he was about to kill Coby just because he tried to speak out against the war? Akainu is a dictator in the making if I've ever seen one. I'll bet most of his own people are either terrified of him or greatly respect him or perhaps a little of both.
Eh this is just speculation but it's certainly enjoyable to imagine. In the end the only thing I absolutely MUST see is Luffy versus Akainu. I'll die an unsatisfied and bitter man if this doesn't happen.
it most likly will he was the one who killed ace it will probably happen in the final war whitebeard talked about before died after luffy defeats black beards and becomes the pirate king imagine that pirate king vs fleet admiral
Okay episode. Directing was nice.
Final scene was awesome. Dat soundtrack. When was the last time I heard it? Skypiea or Water 7 I think ._. But its finally back, they've used it for the second time this arc. I also love that new CC theme. New awesome track during FI (during shida's megallo-luffy scene), and now this. Good to see something new and awesome, since I don't really like soundtracks from last two movies.
Animation was eh. Just bad. Its utterly stupid to give this episode to deguchi when there was like 4 episodes of pure talking before this…First it's damn low budget, then it's damn slow pacing, and now it's just stupidity. They better nail Daishinkan and "speech scene" because Im gonna be mad as hell if they won't
