Sanji is NOT out of it yet. He might fight Jabura, he might fight Frankfried, he might fight Chopper… but he'll get a fight.
Chapter 407 "Monster" Discussion

Maybe Sanji will help Nami in the last second:
My chivalry prevents me from attacking womens.. but also my chivalry prevents me from letting a women die in front of me
DON
-
I'd really like Sanji to fight Choppzilla, though. It sounds the best theory so far. Perhaps Nami will take the key to ZoroKing while Sanji goes to tell Chopper he's found it, and then…
-
Yeah, sorry about that, me and Hermie have solved the matter, the translation has been taken off and the member that posted it has been pm'ed.
Sorry for this whole business =(, but thanks a lot for your translation! ( and yes, the kalifa bath scene was great… ^^ )http://mangahelpers.com/forum/index.php?topic=3036.msg42198#msg42198
And thanks to Emlan and Nytrogyn for informing me ;)
-
Hey… Since Chopper's on the ground floor in the kitchen with Kuma, and if Chopper goes on a rampage to destroy the kitchen and continues to destroy the rest of the ground floor, then wouldn't that make the Tower of Justice collapse for sure? When will that stupid thing collapse, anyway...?
-
If Usopp doesn't fight Jyabura, the whole arc will lose all it's meaning for me…
A wishful thinking prediction: Usopp and Zoro get freed, they fight their respective opponents for a while, and then both are overpowered and forced to retreat. The end up gowing down hallways in opposite directions, nod to each other, run right past each other and Zoro ownz Jyabura and Usopp ownz Kaku.
-
Kalifa = HOT
I would say maybe the best in the series at this point but Robin is close too.
As for Chopper…damn I have been playing Kingdom Hearts II a lot and I know for a fact that any form upgrade kicks ass.
I guess Oda is feeling better? That's good news.
-
I have a feeling Franky will try to get to Calipha, but run into a Berserk Chopper…
Maybe Franky will settle that and still be strong enough to go help Nami with Calipha :o
Or better yet, he gets Chopper back to normal, then Nami is too weak, and he takes the key to Zoro/Usopp.
-
Thanks for the translation kudou!

Problem here is that if Zoro is fully capable, he's not gonna retreat from a big giraffe with a square nose.
….And then the arc will lose all meaning for you, because someone other than Usopp will beat Jabura.

As people mentioned before, Kalifa's bath was probably all bubbles and no water, so she's kind of tricking Nami.
Chopper's new form is pretty exciting, and I hope it's Franky that sees him like this, because that way he can connect with Chopper and know something that the other straw hats don't. But that's only if he's going to be the next crewmember, otherwise it could be either/or Sanji and Franky.
I wonder just how powerful this form of his is going to be. I guess we'll see. Also, is there a chapter next week?

Bubbles are made of water.

cosmic, kudo's translation is correct reguarding nami and kalifa. it seems like part of kalifa's powers is to take away peoples strength.

Now that I looked at a HQ scan I think that Nami was paralyzed from what Calpiha did to her on page 15. I know that some people, including me, thought that maybe Calpiha's DF was soap/bubble type DF; however, it appears she use rankyaku to send the "bubbles" towards Nami. Unless these DF bubbles have incredibably strong surface tension, the bubbles wouldn't have survived the trip towards Nami. I suppose Calipha could have a steam-steam DF but that's too similar to Smoker's DF.
On another note does anybody know what the RA mean on Lasso's tank?
EDIT: So far we know that Kumadori had the #3 key, Fukuro the #4 key, and Calipha has the #2 key. I think the keys also correspond to the level of strength of the CP9(excluding Lucchi, Blueno, and Spandam). Remeber that even though Calipha's dokori(sp?) was like 150 lower than the next lowest CP9 she has eaten a DF since then. This also means the Kaku's and Jyabura's keys corresponds to 0 and 1.
-
Bubbles are made of water.
Soap bubbles aren't. But then even water bubbles is not the same as being submerged in a body of water.
cosmic, kudo's translation is correct reguarding nami and kalifa. it seems like part of kalifa's powers is to take away peoples strength.
Yeah, he already mentioned, I believe him. Still curious as to what exactly her fruit is. She can blow air and take away strength…and the result looks like they've been turned into a shiny doll....

Weird that Mr. 5 wants to be a fireman O.o

Hmm, I've been thinking about the whole Sanji situation just because it isn't like Oda to do this. In an arc as important as this, Sanji shouldn't get shafted - this is the turning point and everyone must play a role. Besides, even if he had a couple ridiculously easy fights on the Sea Train, that doesn't mean he shouldn't get a big one now - after all, he was gone for a lot of Water 7. Plus, it appears as though everyone is getting a huge power boost this arc - the Perfect Clima Tact, the Bokuto, GEAR 2, and Chopzilla. Zoro hasn't had a fight yet, but we can probably safely assume he'll have one (he has one every arc, after all. Being able to cut through steel in Alabasta, learning to shoot blades of air in Skypeia), so if Sanji had none it would just be weird and unfair, almost. I have several ideas as to what could happen with Sanji:
- Accidentaly stumbles upon Chopper, gets trapped in the room, and has to beat the crap out of Chopper, destroying many important things in the tower and getting a bounty for damages to the Government Property.
- Acts as a sheild for Nami. Gets a bounty for all the damage he did on the Sea Train.
- Nami steals the key from Calipha and gives it to Sanji, and it is the number two key, just as Franky thought. He brings it to Sogeking and Zoro, but it is destroyed or lost somehow. Sanji joins their fight because they need the help (hands attached, because both their styles require both hands, they are each maybe half or three quarters their strength)
4)Nami steals the key from Calipha and gives it to Sanji, and it is the number one key because Spandam screwed up. Sanji goes off to save Robin and to regain some pride, and fights Spandam. - Sanji tries to help Nami, but she turns it down, so he goes off to be a prince to his other lady. Fights Spandam, but has no key. I like this one because it gives an excuse for Lucci to not just grab Robin and run away when the going gets tough - Sanji gets her away from the warzone where Luffy and Lucci will fight beforehand.
- Sanji does absolutely nothing. He is considered the weakest Strawhat and gets mocked endlessly by Zoro, but the next arc has Sanji focus and he does exactly what he told Zoro he'd do way back: "When I get my first bounty it will twice as much as yours was!"
-
No offense, guys (well, yeah, offense meant), but Sanji's pretty much a dead duck (pun intended). If he gets up and starts to fight again, I'll look forward to his next fight; but for now, Sanji looks pretty much out of the race. He's already kicked some arse on the Rocket Man, and it's very annoying to keep reading (every friggin' week) about Sanji pulling a deus ex machina out of nowhere and beating up Jyabura to prove he's still a man. Really, when Chopper of all people turned into a beast, Sanji-fans should have reached for that bottle of Prozac in their medicine cabinets.
-
wowowowowowowowowowowowow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: and about sanji… i'm not worried... if sanji doesn't get any hardcore action this arc, no problem.. i trust in oda to make up for it next arc... maybe a sanji/all blue/cooking based one? who knows, i don't.. i'm just saying it's not like sanji HAS to get some more action this arc.
-
i've decided, Chopper will own Kuda, Chopper will then own Franky, then Sanji will own Chopper, reaffirming his seat as joint second strongest.
-
It looks like Califa cleaned up Sanji for being a dirty boy. And for having filthy thoughts.
My guess was that she had eaten a clam or oyster DF. It would have gone with the animal theme of CP9. My theory was that she made Sanji into a pearl or something. I guess I was wrong.

Thank you I don't understand why its so important for sanji to take on a fight, the popular option seems to be taking ussops slot (which I hope to oda doesn't happen at all!!!. I hope he can stand up after the fights but not take part in any….please.
-
Thanks for the chapter. Insanely cool.
(…what is Kumadori reaching for on page 12?)
-
….And then the arc will lose all meaning for you, because someone other than Usopp will beat Jabura.
What's wrong with SogeKing fighting Kaku?
What's wrong with SogeKing fighting both?
What's wrong with SogeKing fighting Aokiji and Buster Call?
What's wrong with a team up Zoro,SogeKing,Sanji vs Kaku,Jabura?
This way Usopp can protect the others for a change and give them
time to figure out Rokushiki like Luffy. It's meant for them!C'mon the chapters are getting better and better and you are all so negative
about it. Why don't you wait what Oda has planned. It'll be awesome. -

Bubbles are made of water.
mostly oil, though..
btw, zede05.. are you gonna translate? chikusho needs a tranlation to release ch.407 ><"

Here's an interesting topic. Look back upon all the past enemies of the Strawhats. All have either
a) Escaped/Avoided
b) Been caught by the Marines
c) Gone to Fairy VearthThere is no death in One Piece, minus the sea kings. So what happens in CP9's case? Perhaps Spandam will get a sidestory of being superdemoted, but the others? Califa especially is a good case, since so far no female opponent has been beaten into a bloody mess. Ms. Doublefinger was shocked into unconciousness, but very few actual wounds.
Back to the chapter.
I'm pretty sure Califa's ability is related to paralysis. If she has a logia (doubtful, personally), It'll probably be a spider or something with venom. Paramicia would just be paralysis, giving her enough confidence to take a bath while 'fighting' Nami. I wonder if Nami's climatact has 2 breath dials and sparker in there? (1 dial for regular air, 1 for gas). Whatever has boosted the electricity ball could be used as the spark, so 3 added dials? wonders if the old joke tempos are still there

whoa, whoa, whoa! you can't just IGNORE #17 of shadow of the colossus, chopzilla! impossilebre! translated from spanish, impossi-book.
he's the big thing of this chapter! he's new, and MASSIVE! big! and you can't ignore pwncakes!
ANYWAY, when are we gonna get an english version!?!?!??!
-
Thanx to those who provided us these scans.
It's one of my all time best chaps. I really liked the brutallity of the Kumadori-Chopper fight, and man, the part where Kumadori yells in victory as he stomps Chopper's body in the ground was so majestic!
I wanted somethin different from Chopper-beast. A more muscular, "Hulk-like" version rather this yeti thing. Tho, I must say, he looks scary. Just not enough badass. Kinda dumb, maybe. I hope he can deliver huge amounts of damage tho.And I agree with every Buc post on this thread.
-
Personally, I'm ecstatic that his "monster" is very yeti-like. Yetis are one of my favorite mythical beasts, so this made my respect for Chopper go up a few notches. If Franky joins, Chopper will probably be my 3rd or 2nd favorite.
-
I don't think Sanji fans should worry about him NOT getting a bounty. I highly doubt the WG would let any of the Mugiwaras not have a bounty. After all, there is only 7(8) of them, and if they inflitrated Enies Lobby and defeated the CP9 as such a small group, there shouldn't be any reason for the WG to take any of the Mugiwaras lightly.
Just think of it in real life situation, if you were to invade and attack the White House or CIA HQ, you would definately be wanted.
-
I doubt anyone from the crew is going to see Chopper like this, but if any crew member should actually attempt to "chill" chopper out, I would want it to be Sanji.
Poor guy is getting bashed so much when he clearly would have destroyed Kalifa. Obviously he already did so much on the train but hopefully he'll get some action soon.
-
I don't see why people complain about Monster Chopper not being muscular enough. This is not DBZ, plus the guy is covered with fur, no wonder why you can't see his six pac. And honestly this design is great IMO, he just oozes power and badassness. The insanely broad shoulders and lanky arms give him a beast-like appearance that he wouldn't have with a bodybuilder's body.
-
The less defined muscles look eerie, actually. I'm expecting someone with rippling pex to easily tear stuff apart; looking at Chopper, one can obviously tell he's monstrously powerful, but he doesn't look it, and that creates "uncertainty", which is the core driving force of all suspense thrillers. Oda combined a reindeer, gorilla, and yeti into one towering monstrosity; this "Monster Point" looks almost supernatural, like with the "Forest Spirit" god from Mononoke Hime.
-
I'm very satisfied with the direction Oda went with for Monster Chopper. I think if he had of just turned out to be some overly muscular freak, with a huge heaving chest and veins popping out of every possible part of his body. I don't think it would've created near the impact this has.
-
I think Monster Point is awesome; it's very bestial, and reminds me of human dog chimera from Full Metal Alchemist (with the eyes). He actually looks kind of sad with the cast down look. I feel for Kumadori, as he's about to be owned by some new uber move of Chopper's.
I found Calipha and Nami's battle…interesting. Although I see not when Calipha had the time to draw a bubble bath. Could it be a BUBBLE LOGIA!? >.< I think her having a logia is guaranteed, because it looked like Nami's new attack hit. I cannot wait to see chapter 408!
-
i've decided, Chopper will own Kuda, Chopper will then own Franky, then Sanji will own Chopper, reaffirming his seat as joint second strongest.
Hey, what would Sanji even being doing down there? I'd imagine he'd be more worried about Nami or Robin right now. Really, I think this form will only last three minutes, then its gone. It's still a Rumble ball induced transformation. If an injured Sanji beats this new form, then it's not much of a power-up is it? Sanji will probably do something else, either here or the next arc.
-
Or it could take up to 6 hours. That's how long Chopper is supposed to wait between rumble balls. That's how long it stays in his system. So it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
-
Poor guy is getting bashed so much when he clearly would have destroyed Kalifa. Obviously he already did so much on the train but hopefully he'll get some action soon.
Hey its gotten to the point where you can't be a Sanji fan without getting bashed for no reason at all…people these days
And about who gets to see uber-chopper?
Chances are its gonna be Franky.
Like someone mentioned in a previous post and i really can't believe no one even mentioned it -Franky plans to help out in the Secretary fight. Franky is down on cola. Franky says "Hey i'll stop by the kitchen on my way up, grab a few more bottles of cola and ~nnnnnnSUUUUUUPPPPERRR!"
And just when we had Chopper going "I hope no one enters the kitchen" ^^
Sanji would'nt have any reason to walk in there tbh. -
And then franky and chopenstein fight for 1 minute
-

awesome discription, the whole oozes power thing.
but we don't know how long chopper will stay like this. I hope fer awhile, long enough fer him to DESTROY the whole world government place, meanwhile luffy saves the day, they all leave, MAJOR bounties.
-
nice pic werk!
that does show something…...maybe, poison? or paralyis....water? i htink some kind of poison/paralysis fruit....
nice job!
-
I just noticed that myself, but you beat me to the punch lpzie, with an illustration to boot. Let the speculation and randum guesses continue about the nature of Calipha's devil's fruit power.
-
We see what the effects of having Sanji down and out are having. Already he's being lumped with the weakest of the Strawhats, and now Usopp is taking his place as one of the top fighters? That just…. seems weird to me and out of character. Somehow, I don't think that's what Oda intends to do at all as everything he's built up for both characters would have been for naught. I think I'm with those who hope Sanji ends up fighting Jyabura in the end. Even though some (mostly Usopp fans) are saying they'd be pissed if Sanji "steals" Usopp's fight (some might argue if it was ever Usopp's fight to begin with?), but for me, this sudden role reversal pisses me off more. And I think the idea of having a person who was jumped and beaten by a bunch of no-names back in W7 suddenly defeat one of the top fighters in CP9 kind of pisses me off as well as there's an air of unbelievability about it even within the fantastic world of One Piece. But if it does happen, I guess it's something I'll just have to deal with if I'm to continue reading the manga.
Anyways I think Usopp will end up bringing all the keys to Luffy (someone has to do this), which leaves Jyabura to be taken care of by Sanji. Usopp still needs to interact with Luffy and reform their bonds, so there's a good chance of this happening.
-
Oh, that's right. We all forgot Nami's second emulation of Eneru; she's turning into a fine false goddess. :D
-
IT MAKES SENSE that Chopper's monster form will only last three minutes, but just think… Chopper destroyed an entire village in 3 minutes??? Haha even Luffy couldn't do that, and there's also the possibility that it was only a small village.
You know what doesn't make sense? The way the Rumble Ball works to is emit waves or wave lengths to manipulate the powers of the Zoan fruit. If the monster was triggered by an over dose of RB wave lengths, then techinically it should only be in affect when all three Rumbles are still working. But whatever, if Chopper says it has other side effects then it does.
-
If Sanji were to somehow get to Spandam, then his being all beat up could become important. And it'd probably get him a huge bounty even if it were unwarrented.
-
Maybe if he was already having a rumble ball, maybe its whats left over plus three minutes?
-
I dont know if this was brought or not, but Chopper says that he hopes nobody comes into the kitchen when he takes the 3rd rumleball. Is it because he knows what happens or is it he proably couyldnt control his forms?
