@werewulfking:
One point about Blackbeard's ability is that he himself tells Ace that his ability is Gravity in chapter 441
http://www.mangareader.net/103-2548-15/one-piece/chapter-441.html
Therefore I don't think the ability of the probably new admiral should deal with pressure rather than with gravity.
Exactly, people can say it's not the same thing but he actually called it "Infinite Gravitation", for the mangaka who said he wanted to never duplicate + make every fruit unique, in some ways making this in any way too similar, and non- unique would make it worse trolling than the believed possible Fujitora issue.
@onemoment:
Uh…interesting chapter. It doesn't have me hyped for anything yet, but the setting is building at least. Dressrosa looks nice, though it doesn't feel like the setting for a showdown for a shichibukai yet. There is a constant sense of danger though, I look forward to seeing more of this weird place.
I'm actually a little disappointed the blind man is most likely an admiral. I don't like those guys! Kizaru is an ass, Akainu should be obvious, and Aokiji is okay but killed another character I like. If the blind man is Fujitora I can only imagine he'll do something to annoy me later...but maybe that's just me.
That's not…. :shocked:
but... :ermm:
Never Mind. :whistling: :sad:
You're right If he's an admiral there's probably almost guaranteed hating gonna have to happen. Way to bring it back to reality :getlost: .
@King:
Shanks, Ace, Aokiji and Rayleigh went through the same thing.
All famous, but nobody recognized them.
Also, with the way Fujitora is dressing and acting, recognizing him would be harder than usual. People expect Admirals to walk around in stylish suits and not get distracted with stuff like gambling. Plus, the fact that the king of Dressrosa is a pirate himself justifies his unassuming behavior.
I can get Ao Kiji as a good example, but the other 3 are a different matter. Ace was partly more 'dressed up' than he's probably really been seen in the past, except by present friends/ allies. Also until he actually did 'stuff' he was completely not a standout. Same thing with Luffy's pathetic disguise on SA, until people do stuff, (anything notable), would you or any1 care about some1 you're not there to see? (Meaning no doubt, Oda could use some1 to say something about recognizing him in the beginning of next chapter, after he's made a big deal, or he might not be the noted new admiral Fujitora)
Rayleigh is a different case since he's been inactive for decade**(s), plural**, so you'd have to know enough about the history for a younger being's POV, + what he was doing was being a slave and dressed quite poorly; it'd be like even if you saw a famous actor/ actress if they were dressed so out of place you might not say anything or question it past the 1st look.
And Shanks, in all his recent interactions was with his crew, old acquaintances, or was easily recognized right when he stepped out on the scene. And if talking about back in Luffy's younger years, every1 in Luffy's town knew who he was, (titles probably didn't matter kinda like how although WB was an emperor islands under his protection seemed to just genuinely like him, (ex. Jimbei)), and those mountain bandits just seemed pretty stupid. Then add to that at their 'reunion' in Water 7 Gramps saying something like Shanks has become 1 of the 4 Yonkou indicates that his elevation to that level might have occurred after he had left Luffy's area; so his level of 'fame' might've been leagues less impressive/ recognizable back then.
Not saying either or side, but just saying this particular issue and examples, don't really help either side prove their point.
But I will say it was mentioned before, that it also makes sense to branch out in the NW, and a showing of bounty hunters, 'admiral candidates', other positions in the Marines, or even an everyday citizen in the NW, could expand our POV's to an even 'wider' picture of how the NW is. And this semi- intermediate point would be the best time to introduce a character such as that, with a dash of unpredictable Oda twist.
@Shuhan:
Okay I just had a thought…what if the prospect of claiming ace's fruit brings a certain top hatted revolutionary into the equation?
Possibility...
Made me think; what if the WG knew DD had that fruit and were just waiting tillhe lost his Shichibukai status to come take it, (or even if they find out within the course of this arc), with all these differing forces converging would be even better, but probably a lot more random free for all fights than '1 vs 1's'.
@kagehisa:
**I still believe Oda would not rob us of a Zoro vs Mihawk fight.
One of the fan concerns seems to be that if Zoro beats an admiral in the near future, it would kill the power scaling of the series. I disagree because there is nothing that proves that one of the New admirals needs to be quite AS strong as the original 3. He could be significantly stronger than VA level to justify his rank, but still be a small margin weaker than Sakazuki/Borsalino**
Logically speaking it wouldn't make sense for Zoro to have a huge series-defining sword fight immediately after arriving on a new island. So I think if there is a conflict it will just be a small skirmish before the two parties get distracted by other events.
However the nerd in me just can't resist the thought of "Zatoichi vs Zoro" lol, two famous fictional swordsmen figures
Agreed on the bold, think …
Well it's stated below.
@kagehisa:
and need I remind u that there was a war going on. If it was whitebeard vs akainu mano a mano on some deserted island I'm prretty sure even akainu would hesitate.
@A:
First up, a war does not really matter to an Admiral if their orders are to attack an opponent; see BB Pirates and Akainu. Second, aren't you underestimating an Adrmiral (assuming thats what Fujitora is), even if one could be intimidated by Whitebeard (the man who tied with the pirate king), the prospect of attacking a world famous rookie could seem a little less daunting and more of a priority with him being the son of the World's most wanted man.
Agree with Kagehisa in that it mattered in the sense that none of the admirals really got to pay for their actions. In other words they were 'swept to' or 'chose to' go from 1 conflict to the next, because it was a war, something they wouldn't have been able to do in a 1 vs 1 situation. Then we have the fact that while confident, not 1 of them or even all 3 of them got the job done. It was the totality of every1 that day attacking + his previous age and circumstances that took WB down. Just pointing out that what the admirals 'thought' they could take is not an accurate portrayal, of what they actually can take. Yeah, an Admiral might go after the SH's without caring about crew's fame, or #'s but for people with experience and brains, to be so reckless, seems awfully reminiscent of Luffy during the war; A Rookie mistake.
@kagehisa:
Any ONE of them, probably. But I think the reason we have 5 of the strongest characters in the alliance (excl. Law) in one group is to avoid such a situation. Even an Admiral won't be able to handle this crowd. Kizaru was able to solo 4 supernovas before the timeskip, but these guys (especially the monster trio) are definitely a lot stronger than any pre-skip supernova.
Which is why I think that even if Fujitora knows it's the strawhats, he's not dumb enough to pick a fight with all 5 of them at once.
Especially agree with the bold, but might even take it a step further. Think people are getting caught in what I like to call "1st character appearance power upheaval". Think people start underestimating SH's and company, and overestimate their possible opponents just based on a 'taste' of what they can do. Yes what the guy did was impressive, and yes he's the possible/ probable Fujitora Admiral :ermm:, but that's pretty much all we know about him. Luffy has a habit of giving a lot of credit no matter what, (unless you notice); that FI swordsman for example was a joke, compared to what some1 might think of him based on what Luffy seemed to initially think of him.
Then there's the examples of the many other times what I like to call "1st character appearance power upheaval" comes into play, especially in more recent times. For example:
Hodi given respect because of strength appearance in breaking the ship, with no hands and then the palace wall in his 1st appearances; then proceeded to get whooped by Zolo, underwater, and Luffy several times, some also underwater(he never knew when to just give up), also almost fainted just from the CoC like the rest of the fodder.
Doflamingo's crew introduced, + thought to be formidable because they're his crew, then beat by Franky quite easily ( with a bit of mechanical help). + further beatdown (while retreating, yes), but by Nami and Usopp.
Monet, manages to delay/ distract/ keep Luffy away + then thought to be formidable; then Zoro almost effortlessly defeats her leaving Tashigi to finish his leftovers.
CC takes out a good deal of the SH's seemingly easily by just removing oxygen, + thought to be formidable; then literally his face tells a different story when in an actual confrontation with Luffy.
Vergo introduced + seemed unbeatable by the crew of SH's and even Law from the way he was talked about from Joker, and added insult to injury because because able to injure a 'body wrecked by Nami' Sanji; until Law with his heart returned sliced him up beat his strongest haki, and hung him up like Christmas lights.
And all this from SH's not necessarily going all out, (nor was it known just how much they were holding back); but I'm not 1 of those who think SH's are the most powerful, just don't think they're as 'inconsequential as people make them out to be sometimes'. Also think all those "surprise victories" mentioned above were minor. The SH's are due for a surprise victory over a major opponent with major repercussions, and 'soon'( loosest definition in manga time + even more so in realistic time); otherwise they really do prove they don't have a prayer of taking down a Yonkou anytime 'soon'(see above definition^), realistically.
