We all need to agree that 2012 was a great year for One Piece.A new great arc started in the New World,a new movie came out,the anime is finally going to the New World and not to mention all the cool stuff that came out, like video games,figures,etc..So what I am trying to say is what do you want/don't want to see in 2013 in One Piece?
Oda already announced that the series is moving to a new development and a new species is going to be introduced.
Personally what I'd like to see in 2013 is the training of the SH in the timeskip, which Yonko Law was talking about, what happened to the Supernovas we haven't see yet(Bonney,Urouge,Capone) and Wano Country. What I prefer not to see is a new Caribou kind of character, the anime not to screw up like it did with many Fishman Island parts and not many frequent breaks from Oda.
What do you expect from One Piece in 2013
-
-
Well I'm pretty sure they're gonna get some bad beef with Donflamingo after this arc and of course the situation with Big Mom. Would also like so see some more of the insight into the Marines under Akainu leadership, Film Z sorta felt like a teaser to that. Pretty sure the whole Reverie thing considering how it often it was mentioned how close it was. An appearance by Kiadou and I suppose some inkling where Blackbeard is. And of course if Jinbe will keep to his promise of joining the crew in the future. Oh yeah and who the heck Vegapunk is. Lord knows we don't hear his name dropped enough.
-
Now, I was never on that wagon of tireless "I hate that the SHs are owning everyone" fans, MAINLY BECAUSE:
I understood that Oda needed to show us that the SH have reached a new level in prowess over these past two years. So I'm comfortable with the Strawhats having a lack of challenges these past two arcs.
HOWEVER;
…with the end of Punk Hazzard drawing closer, I am expecting that the villains of the next upcoming arcs will NOT be pushovers. I think Oda has made his point clear by now and it's time to give the gang a real tussle. My guess is that the SH are going to Wano next, and I'm expecting them to rip the SH up a new one.
I expect 2013 to be the year, where we TRULY get to see just how nasty the New World really is!
-
i expect doflamingo destruction, the supernova stories and at least determining the targeted yonkou…..if there would would a new crewmate, it would be a good time as well.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
dammit: i mean "if there would BE a new crewmate...."

Yeah. It's a silly wagon to be on whose oxen are full of rage and passengers many - I was never on it either. Fishman Island was the… I guess you could call it "walk in the park" as far as battles were concerned, but there were still extremely dangerous circumstances, mainly concerning Luffy. Punk Hazard pumped up the imminent danger level to 11, and even though the enemies were weak again (except Vergo, and although not necessarily to the Straw Hats; Sanji sure had a tough time in his short scuffle with Vergo), the danger made up for it. In my opinion, it's clever writing by Oda to have the environment be the real danger so that the Straw Hats can still have a tough time with it, but not the actual enemies.
If they were struggling just 2 arcs in to the New World, there would be no hope, and One Piece would not be superior as a cynical, hopeless series of defeat.
Doflamingo's not going to be a pushover and he's going to have the best arc we've had yet. I'm certain of it. Even if it's just his dialogue, Oda seems to be on his A game whenever the flamingo is involved (if anyone has noticed, his dialogue is entirely on a different level from most in One Piece, with the exception of Kidd's "microcosm of the world" speech at Sabaody and a few others.)
I expect big things in 2013, specifically the best arc One Piece has ever had. I dunno, I think the writing on Doflamingo's arc will be tighter than Big Mam's, but Big Mam's will be more grandiose in scale.
-
I think the writing on Doflamingo's arc will be tighter than Big Mam's, but Big Mam's will be more grandiose in scale.
Precisely!
These past chapters have really shown that there's way more to Dofla's character than meets the eye. Just look at him:
!
Huge smile, covered in dirt, wearing somewhat raggy clothes. His smile is definitely compensating for something. Law definitely said it best:
!
I also agree with your statement about Big Mam's arc being the "lesser" of story telling in comparison to Dofla. I mean honestly… she really doesn't need a complex story. The Epicness of her vs the Alliances alone will be enough!
-
I expect that the wano country is next and that we will get more details about their swordsmen style. I hope fort a promotion for smoker to admiral and that tashigi decides to try and toughen-up a bit. I don't expect a fight with doflamingo yet. I think they'll miss each other. I am hoping that the wano arc is not to long and that the big mam arc will properly start this year so we get some kid/hawkins/apoo action. I would like to see some new warlord (mainly buggy) as i expect if smoker tells akainu about doflamingo and vergo, dofla may lose his position unless someone in the government steps in.
i think kaido will be revealed this year but i don't expect anything big yet. I'd love him to be a dwarf but i think minkmen will be the new species shown -
oh yeah! another thing im expecting (guessing) is the higher-ups of WG (who doflamingo seems to be working with) will order the assasination of smoker and tashigi…or firing them.....either way, im expecting to be out of the marines within next year.
-
We have Doflamingo, Big Mam, Kaidou, Blackbeard, Sakazuki and his marines still left, and every single one of them are extremely powerful top-class antagonists. There are no pushovers.
Every major battle of major arcs are going to be serious business for the Straw Hats and they will be fighting for their lives.I don't want to hear any "but Straw Hats should be at admiral level and easily take [insert major villain] on, that was what the two year skip was for!" anymore.
-
Not that I actually expect this to happen but I realy want Enel to appear, even if he doesn't do anything… Seeing him is enough
... What I expect, Big Mam
-
When they said they going to Wano?
-
When they said they going to Wano?
They never did and I highly doubt they will next year, I say Dressrosa's next stop
-
I expect One Piece will be as thrilling, emotional and hilarious as always.
Specific things I hope to see:
- Caribou informing "that guy" what he knows about Shirahoshi
- Kaidou's design (I'm betting he'll turn out to be an ally … I mean, with Big Mam and Blackbeard already set up as antagonists, and with Oda's eagerness to finish One Piece soon, I don't see there being another massive saga surrounding the take-down of another Yonkou. It would be the most incredible thing ever if Kaidou is an enemy though, and I'm hoping for it.
- What Drake, Bonney, Urouge and Capone have been up to. But especially Drake!
- The story behind who gave Doflamingo the order to exterminate Moriah. Given Vergo's hints about Doflamingo's past being important, it's almost a guarantee at this point that we'll get a flashback in 2013 possibly explaining this, and more.
- Some sort of resolution surrounding Monet's character, no matter how minor (if only to settle things around here and give full closure to her character.)
- Our new Fleet-Admiral hearing word of what Luffy's been up to, and getting pissed. Just more Akainu, please!
- Fishman Island was about 2 years long, and Punk Hazard is ongoing. Given the events that are currently being set up, it would seem like Dressrosa is going to be the centrepiece of 2013 - though I would like at least 2 islands covered, just to give the New World a little more meat/content. It's going to be Dressrosa, Wano or Raijin, no question.
- As has been mentioned, I'd love to see some mini-flashbacks that reveal important moments in each of the SH's training (like how Zoro lost his eye.) I'm still waiting for Robin to turn to Luffy and say, "Oh by the way, I met your dad." And has she met Sabo? I'm dying to know!
That's all I can think of at the top of my head
-
Everyone seems to think we'll get a doflamingo arc and i guess i can see why but i still this is gonna be about big mam overall. This whole new world saga is very alabasta like as people have previously stated. I don't really see the big battle with doflamingo happening till much closer to the end when i expect a world government arc to happen (on a side note i really hope that CP9 return for that arc as well)
-
I just want more dofla-shit
-

So do I, IMO this is definitely the Big Mam saga we're in now. The next arc will be Dressrosa then Whole Cake Island, maybe Wano between the two.
-
A whole nice DoFla arc with a following Big Mom arc. Maybe Wano before.
But I really want to see how Oda will handle a super rookie saga without letting the other SHs being overshadowed and give all of them a nice fight
At the end of 2013
I hope finally for Dragon shows himself in front of Luffy -
Doflamingo next year, Big Mam the one after. Remember the Yonkou are at the further end of the NW, so the SHs probably wont reach Big Mam until this whole mess with Donflamingo is sorted (which will affect her if Donflmaingo goes out of business, depending on which Yonkou has the army of zoans) or maybe a while after (the Grand Line is a long journey). Oda is clever at building things up… just because he had Luffy declare war with Big Mam doesn't mean the fight will happen within the next two or three arcs. For all we know Oda could just be building up Big Mam using this saga, so she might not be directly involved in anything of what's going on now. Not to mention Luffy is not Yonkou level. I don't think Donflmaingo is Yonkou level... maybe a tier below. The villians will only get stronger until Luffy becomes Pirate King. So I don't think we'll see anything out in the open from Big Mam next year.
It'll be Donflamingo's year! I also guess that "Jack" is the leader of the new species we're going to see introduced. Giant? Elbaf has to come in somewhere.
-
I know it was only filler but what his name, Shuzo 1 of Z's underlings completely whooped Luffy's ass, even though he had gear 2nd and haki….
If that is any indication, Luffy & co are in for 1 tough ride in the NW. They aren't going to walk over the enemies over there. -
Urouge making his appearance is my first concern, and i think Capone, Drake and Bonney will appear too. I would also like to see a bit more of Big Mom, her and her crew are really interesting, and i want Oda to give her a great story like with Whitebeard. Oh, and seeing how the Strawhats trained during the timeskip would be nice as well. I think it's obvious we will see a lot from Doflamingo, so there's no need to mention it. For the next arc, i would prefer Wano over Dressrosa, but both are promising.
-
Hm…...nothing I can think of, I want Oda to surprise me!
....but seriously, I want to see more of the Marines and how their organization have changed over the two years. Aokiji's and Akainu's fight turned an island into a place that's either constantly snowing/cold and constantly hot/with fire, and that was the result of different ideals (literally) clashing. How is Akainu functioning as Fleet Admiral? Are there secret factions as a result of the War? Garp and Sengoku both retired.....what are they doing?
Also the Shichibukai is another big issue. Current ones are....Hancock, Doflamingo, Kuma, Mihawk, and Law, correct? Who filled up (if they did) the last two spots? Is Buggy really a Shichibukai or will that stay a fan's dream? What is Crocodile doing now with Daz Bones, since they've had two years to go out to the New World?
-
i wonder when we'll get the reverie arc? I expect after all this big mam buisness is done. I want to see vivi and surprisingly wapol in action again
-
Dressrosa Arc
Whole Cake Island Arc
Wa-No Kuni Arc
Reverie Meeting(Then During the meeting Fishman being destroyed because of Shirahoshi)
Kaidou Arc -
For Jinbe not to join.
-
Apoo's Airship.
-
Well I just posted the arcs that expect to see in the future but I want to see a new nakame and doflomngo being defeated
-
Bigger boobies! If the deflamingo/big mom business is going to be finished 2013, i want elbaf, more supernova developement, a flashback to rogers era, the return of gin, more info about the black beard crew, dragon sfarting to move, knowing what wb crew is doing now, vegapunk explaining science stuff, and more porneglyph/void century/will of d. Knowledge; franky father, the identities of the brokers, new bounties for the rest of the sh crew, the identities of the new admirals and shichibukai, the whereabout of moriah,
Well yeah, thats it for now
-
Dressrosa Arc
Whole Cake Island Arc
Wa-No Kuni Arc
Reverie Meeting(Then During the meeting Fishman being destroyed because of Shirahoshi)
Kaidou ArcShirahoshi isn't going to destroy the island. Luffy is predicted to do so. Which is why Im stressing the fact that there will be a second FI arc, I.e. a much better one. Cliffhangers like Shirahoshi being Poseidon, Noah being left for later use, more on Joy Boy, many locations left unexplained or fully shown. To me Fishman Island was barely showcased as an island as a whole.
So in my eyes, while in 2013, I am expecting a Wano-Country Arc. Here is my prediction of upcoming arcs for the new world:
1. Wano Country
2. Dressrosa- Concluding the likes of Doflamingo
3. Big-mam- May consist of several sub-arcs but we'll see I guess
4. Elbaf
5. Kaidou- Judging from the color he was given on that color spread and his general appearance on it, it seems like he is another bad pirate. Shanks got into a fight with him so it seems that he is probably bady.
6. Paldego
7. A Reverie Arc/ Fishman Island Return- Something fast will probably shoot them all back to that location lol.
8. Hopefully more adventurous arcs such as another sky island, a MOON ARC :DDDD, or some other weird phenomenon where it just feels awesome to read the manga.
9. Remember that there is also a new tier of Government ranks now with the arrival of Kong, so Im assuming that we'll have a government based arc at some point.
10. Raftel/The final war that consists of Luffy against Blackbeard and Akainu.Seriously, I will buy 2 more copies of each volume of this manga if it pans out similar to this. I remember when I thought impel down and marienford may not happen when they reached Sabaody, but then something amazing happened and both facilities were showcased. For me this is what one piece needs to bring its entire world to life, and I hope we get most of it as many of these places have been foreshadowed in some way, besides Kaidou in general.
EDIT: Thinking about it now, they havent really moved forward from anywhere in the New World, so maybe now im guessing that there will be a an arc at Raijin Island? Hmmmm, i really cant wait for the next few chapters.
My only concern is I feel that for Luffy to take on these Yonkou's, these pirate alliances really need to rack up. I feel that the yonkous themselves are probably slightly higher than admiral level, but what really makes them powerful is their alliances. The Heart Pirates, the Fishman Pirates, and whoever else is just the beginning. Maybe we'll see some of Whitebeards old alliances that may side with Luffy. -

Well I meant what you meant on your answer, I should've worded it better lol
-
Lol ok, but I really want to stress that we have to see that Island again, there are so many things that werent shown, the Light Tree of Eve, the fishman district, etc. I know it was rushed, but I feel like he has more plans for the island.
-
I want to see more Supernovas, and more interaction between Kid, Appo, Killer and Hawkins, even for Luffy meet one (if not) all of them. I want a cool new Antagonist on the scene. Also I want to know the name's of Doflamingo's subordinates at least, and some of those brokers faces revealed. Also I want to Akainu reaction when he knows the Strawhats are in the New World.
-
I hope i get to see
Big Mom Arc,Kaido,Dressrosa Arc,The last 2 Shichibukai,Brook and Franky getting more Fights,More Devil Fruit Powers,Seeing more of Apoo and X Drake,More funny scenes, and Nami Fan service :D -

When they said they going to Wano?
No one did. But a notebook in a picture of Oda's desk had the word "Wano" written over it.
So everyone's assuming that the crew will visit Wano Country soon.Plus…there just happens to be two samurai from that same country with them right now.

very true however alabasta was a couple of islands a way and that's why. If you remember they were kidnapping children from the area surrounding punk hazzard. They couldn't go to far as it had to be near g-5 base so that it was there problem. I doubt momonosuke went through aa bunch of islands on his own before boarding the punk hazzard ship so wano must be quite close to punk hazzard.
Also, although i couldn't find the evidence, kinemon made it to punk hazzard on his own in a small boat. Otherwise how did he get on the island? Smoker had a big boat and they saw him a mile off. I really doubt kinemon went past multiple islands in the new worlds oceans in a small dingy.i imagine when they go punk hazzard zoro and brook will find out more about ryuma
-
Ever since the new world began I've wanted to see Zoro taking on a strong opponent, a really strong one, just to see more techniques he learned from Mihawk as I think there is more to Zoro we haven't seen yet, that's one of the things I'm expecting in 2013, wano is everybody's bet for that to happen.
I'm also looking forward to a fight against Doflamingo, and to know more about his past, and like everybody has pointed out, I want to know how the navy has changed in terms of its organization, structure and the way it works now that they're under Akainu's command.
Finally I'm hoping for the strawhats to share what they went through during their training, specially I'm eager to know how Zoro lost his eye and Robin meeting with Dragon.
-

You know, looking at this I can actually SEE One Piece ending for the first time ever. It seems about time to bring it to a close, and I can definitely get the feeling that things are going to start being wrapped up and exposed now. I can't see Oda adding any MAJOR new antagonists. Perhaps a new schichibukai (maybe?) and a couple subordinates and maybe island villains here and there. But, honestly I can see OP end 3 to 5 years time from now. Which is kinda sad, yet also quite awesome.
-
Kobe kicking ass.
-
Robin and Nami to actually get a proper fight.
-
They also had the princess of a country taking a ride with them. The country in question was only visited by them after 3 arcs.
It was only two arcs, since Vivi didn't tag along until the end of the Whiskey Peak arc.

3 to 5 years?
Nope. You might want to double that to 6 to 10 years.
-
All I want from One Piece next year is too see Oda get more and more accustomed to the nine person crew he has currently, get more and more comfortable playing them to each other's strength and settle down to a pace that fits him the most. And, may be, just may be, a small Teach cameo.
And since One Piece gives me everything I want from it, I expect it to do just that next year.
-
Luffy punching Dofla in an EPIC manner
-

Exactly this. It's seemed as if Oda's had trouble balancing the 9 people in the straw hat crew, and people are expecting more to join the crew, which would only increase that problem. And pacing was an issue (though I feel that's gotten better already).
-
-
I want to learn the whereabouts of the other Supernovae.
-
I hope we'll find out which Yonkou is the alliance targeting.
-
More time for the interaction between the crew members and between the crew and other characters.
-
More exploration of weird and beautiful places.
-
A villain who'll make Luffy sweat and cough up some blood.
-
Less fights but more interesting fights and/or fights which aren't always left unfinished or paused 10 times per arc (see Luffy vs Ceasar).
-
Seeing what the strawhats have learned in these 2 years, regarding not only their fighting skills but also their knowledge of the world.
-
World-building chapters/dialogues.
-
-
-
What I expect:
-For the Caribou cover story to finish its magnificent run. I really freaking like Caribou.
-For Punk Hazard to be stretched out to as many panels as humanly possible.
-No fight with Doflamingo just yet. Maybe he'll taunt them or something, but no beatings for him yet.
-Either Wano or Raijin Island. This will last til 2014. Another big player will show up there. Perhaps a between-arcs scene with Big Mom as well.
-Less excessive plot armor. Hopefully.
-Less ZOMGLAZERZ.
-Zombie Monet. Gecko Moria comes and wrecks everyone's shit.
-Nothing from Urouge, Capone, or Bonney yet. I expect them to be mid to mid-late New World. -
No supernovas for a year. Law has taken too many potential shining moments for the lower tier straw hats or Smoker and Tashigi.
Let's have a fun adventure on Raijin island without seeing them for a while to build up the confrontation with Big Mom and DD. -
-
Overall I'm more than happy with the manga the way it is, so all I wish for is that it remains the way it is.
Plot wise… I would like Big Mom to be taken care of before Doflamingo. Honestly, I know she is a Yonkou and all, but I couldn't care less about that old hag, I want more Doflamingo action!!
So what I would like to see would be something along the lines of:
-- When Doflamingo arrives at Punk Hazard, everyone has already left, and they've taken Caeser with them. Smoker reports what he saw to Sakazuki, thus resulting in Doflamingo losing his title as a Shichibukai. Dofla gets pissed, and now that he can no longer produce SAD nor do business with the World Government, he decides to make his move;
-- He goes back to Dressrosa and assembles his crew. He calls back whatever other subordinates he may have. Also, we know he has some sort of influence over people who have eaten SAD, and I think he is well aware of that - it was his plan from the start. He will mind control the SAD army which he helped a Yonkou create, and make them work for him instead. Now he has his crew together and a very powerful and obedient army: it's time for him to make his move and try to become Pirate King!
-- The said Yonkou is Big Mom. Without her army, her numbers will massively decrease, and her crew will be reduced to around 20 - 30 members. This will coincide with the Supernova's assault. Working together, Luffy, Law, Kid, Hawkins and Apoo (and hopefully with some help from Jinbe aswell) will manage to take down a weakened Big Mom and what was left of her crew;
-- The Supernova alliance ends after this fight. Because on their own they aren't powerful enough, none of them is able to become a Yonkou (yet) - instead, Doflamingo steals that seat.
These are all predictions and I have no basis whatsoever to support them, of course. But I think they would make for another exceptional year :D
