Hullo music lovers!
This thread is meant to be a space where we can share our collection of music and music related merchendise!
Now, music can be enjoyed on different formats and through different mediums therefore discussions on which format you prefer or how you choose to enjoy your music can also go in here.
I'll get the ball rolling.
I grew up surrounded by music. On the radio, played from cd's and vinyl and even cassettes. I was an early adaptor to i-pods and have a rich digital library holding most of the music relevant to me these past few years.
But, around 2008 Vinyl captured my heart. Collecting vinyl became similar to collecting pokemon cards when I was younger, gotta catch'em all!
The joy of digging and the perverse excitement of slipping a brand new record out from its sleeve for the first time~ Nothing can beat it!
Obviously to play records you need a record player. I've been working on setting up a good listening area for a while now, I'm pretty happy with the sound currently though it could be much better.
Here's what it looks like:
!
The record player a Technics SL model is solid. I got it for next to nothing from my school library (only needed to put a new tape in it). As for the amplifier I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it because well it's a model made in West Germany in what 1973 or something, and it looks great, but it's so hard to get a pure sound from it because most anything will interrupt the signal. What that means though is that when it is clean it's really crisp and has a lot of warmth to it.
My next job will be to figure out a way of hooking up my computer or my i-pod without having to switch amplifiers (the old one obviously doesn't work with those). If I can get a chord that will go from my old amp to a newer stereo system and then hook the speakers up to the newer system, well that should work.
So yes, is vinyl coming back? (is it back already?) Will the CD die out soon now that digital means no solid copies? Does anyone care about the cassette? What do you guys think?
PS: I'm gonna take some pictures of my new vinyl and selected favourites and put them in here a.s.a.p.
