! Finn became the worst being possible…a fanfic writer...
! And Marceline is a C-lister? That can't be possible...at least a B-lister...
Adventure Time!
-
-
Episode was mildly disturbing.
Seems like they're also trying to make us cry tonight with the Ice King episodes.
-
Makes you wonder what Magic Man's intention was giving Finn the Minis.
The fact that Finn said the same exact thing to the Minis as Magic Man is interesting too…
-
Wow finn just wow
-
In a single episode, Adventure Time both chastises and vindicates Shippers.
-
New episode was awesome. It seemed like an attack on shippers in a sense.
Also the Ice King episodes made me cry. ;-;
-
I expect a flurry of Ice King/BMO fanpics soon…
-
so BMO's a girl? wtf
-
No, BMO is a real live boy, while Football, his alter ego, is a real baby girl…
-
I look forward to any lulzy BMOxIce King fan art this episode gives birth to. This episode was hilariously self-aware with all the shipping gags. Shame that this was a Magic Man episode where he didn't really do much though.
-
! And Marceline is a C-lister? That can't be possible…at least a B-lister...
! She wasn't included in that group the first time so who knows?

! She wasn't included in that group the first time so who knows?
! When Jake said to include the 'C-listers' in the dance party, Marceline was shown dropped out the bag…
! but your right, who knows...:wassat: -
! When Jake said to include the 'C-listers' in the dance party, Marceline was shown dropped out the bag…
! but your right, who knows...:wassat:! That surprised me as well, but Finn definitely didn't include her the first time and Jake didn't object to her being out like he did the Ice King. I think he was saying to include everybody including the C-listers rather than everyone in the bag being C-listers.
-
! ahh okay…valid point...
! luckily they put the episodes on OnDemand fairly quickly and my son loves rewatching Adventure Time, so I can watch it again tomorrow... -
This ep really reminded me of Sims.
! Tiny Lemongrab didn't do anything. A pity.
-
…and that is why Marceline and Peppermint Butler can never date.
-
[hide] I too wonder about Magic Man's relation with the Minis.
Has Finn's face always been able to turn without his head moving? I noticed it did that when he was playing with the Minis under the sheets and it kind of weirded me out.[/hide]
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
-
Thanks for posting the episode. I really needed to see the title card.
! From the looks of the title card Magic Man specifically created the Minis. The question is for what reason did he do it.
-
! Magic Man is an interesting character to be sure, but he doesn't do something for someone without him benefiting from it. Unless he shows up again or if the minis stick around, I can't seem to connect any dots…just gonna have to wait and see
-
16 characters of Emmy.

! I think the bigger theme of the episode was playing god. The shipper thing is definitely there, but the god theme is at the core of it in my mind.
! Finn was playing around with the lives of a populace he had complete control over, without actually realizing the implications of his actions. He slowly destroyed them to suit his own selfish needs and had to find a way to directly communicate to set things right. I think the bigger, more subtle part of the theme, though, was the use of Magic Man. It's easy to forget that Magic Man is basically a god in the AT universe. The way they connected him to godfinn with the line "you won't see me anymore" was a nice touch. Magic Man, though, did to Finn what eventually Finn did to his little people. He was playing god over Finn and Jake by giving them an interesting artifact and just letting them do what was natural to them. To what end? It's hard to say since Magic Man's motives are as mysterious as any deity's, but that just reinforces the point. -
! Yeah, the episode is definitely about "playing God" as you say. Practically the same thing and same moral as that episode of Futurama with Bender essentially "playing God" as well. If you're going to do it then you have to do with it with a very light touch. Let them know there is some force out there looking over them, yet have them have most to all of the control over how their lives play out.
! Magic Man is a serious enigma in this series but Sons of Mars really did go a lot deeper into him than I originally thought and combined with him in this episode is spawning some theories inside my head. Still need more to go on with him though. -

! Same reason he does anything; Magic Man is a dick.
! Magic Man is Adventure Time's Satan; sure, Hunson Abadeer is in charge of the Nightosphere, but Magic Man is the "Fallen Angel" who runs around messing with people and tempting them. -
! Quite a great episode. I was surprised at the lack of Magic Man after the first few seconds though.
! Magic Man's still an ass.
! And what the hell BMOxIce King? -

Lol I haven't seen any ice kingxbmo fanart yet, but I have seen marcelinexpeppermint butler

he seems more like a Loki to meYeah, I felt more than he was more of a Ice King type of villain than a Linch type.
-
Watching the episode again, I'm almost certain Mini Marceline being in there with the C-listers is just an art mistake; that last bit with her and Peppermint Butler is right before Finn's attempt to fix things and there's really no opportunity for him to put her back in the bag between the last time we saw her and when he dumps the bag. Plus Mini Butler was completely intact again rather than about 2/3s gone.
he seems more like a Loki to me
Well, Magic Man was originally from a place in the sky inhabited by higher beings (one of which contains many aspects that are often referred to as deities in Adventure Time) that is ruled by an immortal being that transcends Death itself and then was cast down to Earth for his actions. He seems more like Satan to me after Sons of Mars.

even if their backstories are similar, their motivations are completely different
i'd argue that the litch is more of the Satan of OOO, since he doesn't care about the welfare of anybody and wants the destruction of all life

That's why I'd say that the Lich isn't Satan myself; Satan isn't interested in destruction for the sake of destruction, but control. Ending everything deprives him of that.
Surtur maybe, but not Satan.

I know you mentioned him already but wouldn't Hunson be closer to being a control freak than Magic Man?
He's evil but pretty dang anal about how the Night-O-Sphere should be run (organized chaos?)
I also see Magic Man as more as a trickster or even a Greek God: All powerful to the point where they aren't chained by social norms and stuff. -
I like kabbalah satan where he's like god's heavenly agent who's just this asshole who tempts people and then gets pissed at you for doing sinful things that he suggested
-
its been three days and still no BMOxIce King art?
I guess that was too much a crack pairing even for fandom to get behind.

I just watched Adventure Time for the first time today. IT'S FREAKING AWESOME!! Wish we had this show when I was younger! But seriously it's a damn good show
-
so has everyone heard or seen the bravest warriors yet?
it's made by the same guy as adventure time and i couldn't find a thread for it. It's awesome -
I like it, but I don't think theres enough of it just yet to form a solid opinion. Honestly, I liked it more from the Kaboom comic than the 2 shorts I saw.
-
Does anyone know when they'll release a new episode?

Does anyone know when they'll release a new episode?
The next episode will either be Jake's Pups or the second genderbent episode "Bad Little Boy". I am guessing the new ones will premiere either the first or second week of January.

Thx! I just marathon'd the whole series this past month. I really want to discover what happened in the past!
Whose Susan and how does she relate to Finn? What is the real relationship behind Marclene and Ice King? What happened to all of the humans?
-
Susan Strong seems to be human but it's never been definitively stated that she is to the best of my knowledge so it could still be said Finn's the only human in Ooo.

Well Susan took off her hat and Finn was shocked so what else could she be other than human?
-
Who knows. I'm just saying that we haven't had it stated. I'm not trying to say she doesn't look human.
-
I have feeling (because of Susan's blonde hair) that she is related to Finn. Perhaps she is the grown version of that little baby in the episode "Finn the Human".

Actually production art revealed the baby to be a boy.

Jake the Dad airs January 7
-
If I'm counting right and they follow the production order, then we probably won't get Simon and Marcy until late February or early March thanks to the Hall of Game Awards airing sometime in February.

Jake the Dad airs January 7 [[/SIZE]/QUOTE]
So close and yet… so very far away
I'm also assuming that this episode will entail Jake and Flynn's childhood backstory.
