So for anyone curious i have an update! this is a blackbeard for the broke (i.e, me). i'm trying to cut as much costs as i can. all in all, the costume is projected to cost me less than 45 bucks if you include shipping.
So far this has been done with a budget of about under 15 dollars. i bought some yellow/goldish ribbon for like 5 bucks and found a glue gun laying around in my house. i lined the outside of my college graduation gown with the yellow ribbon. the wig was 8 bucks and i got a durag from my job for free (they're under 2 bucks anyway). and i have a beard already. this is what it looks like so far.
!
i'm also gonna use the yellow ribbon for the sash thing he has since i have a ton left over. for the buttons i cut some corks in half and glue them on might use a broken headphone string as the string that attaches to the corks.
i ordered some mardi gras beads necklaces (50¢ each). a white one (for the bracelet..probably gonna make two out of them if i can) wrap it or something, a green, a purple, and a gold. i'm only going to get one pistol ($5, http://www.centurynovelty.com/detail_256_058-080.html). I don't really want to carry around too many things. use an empty Hennessy bottle with apple juice or iced tea if i'm not at a house party, for you what guys already know lol.
Also, gonna paint one of my hands completely black ($2), to get that yami yami no mi effect.
found a plastic pirate hat for $3 that should suffice. (http://www.centurynovelty.com/detail_259_106-011.html)
also ordered a yard of gold fringe pattern. cost me 5 bucks after shipping (http://www.doveoriginalstrims.com/Metallic-Gold-Bullion-Fringe-2-Inch-By-The-Yard-5603). what im going to do it take cardboard and cut out some circles and wrap it in a yellow cloth from an old tshirt and then glue the fringe on it, then glue it to the jacket.
last thing i need to get it some eye liner. i heard that a liquid eye liner is good to color teeth with, and my walgreens has it for 4 bucks.
will post updates/and or more pics later if people are interested! feedback is appreciated.
