I'm still enjoying it.~

! Finally we get to see Vorg's fight for the world belt. Can't wait for next week
-
@Uncle:
I'm still enjoying it.~
Me too, me too~
I actually reread the series earlier this year, a couple of months ago, and I realised that even though it does admittedly drag quite a bit when you read it on a weekly basis instead of taking it all in at one go, it's still a pretty good series overall. The thing is that I might be a bit biased because Ippo's a series I like a lot, but honestly, I didn't even notice all that stupidity about repeated times of Aokimura pondering over retirement. Yeah, they did that a couple of times and it took up some chapters that could easily have been spared for something more important plotwise, but they were still overlooked by Ippo's and Takamura's matches that took most of the reader's attention. Aye, it's bullshit and something that really should get resolved soon, but as far as I'm concerned it's the only really messed up thing about the story. That and the fact that Morikawa's trying to cover up the flaws of his story by drowning them in gags.
Oh also, I love the pacing. I honest to God think it is good. The series is more than just Ippo punching his way to the world champion title, and I don't think it would be all that without the focus on character interaction being given as much time as it is. Some of the fights and the shorter arcs have been pointless, yeah I admit, but usually each one has taken at least one of Ippo's aspects on a further level. And that, gentlemen, is what I enjoy the most about this manga as a whole.

Well…I enjoyed this chapter a lot for some reason. It was still basically one long scene but It was quite good.
-
I was just thinking if Morikawa really wanted to make a bold move to tell an interesting story instead of making Itagaki leave the gym just to fight Ippo he'd make Ippo leave for w/e reason and then after killing Itagaki he'd return.
-
It's probably my favorite manga/anime after One Piece. If it had a season 3 in the anime and didn't have such slow progressing/boring chapters unlike before, I might actually rank it my all time favorite.
-
I'm sorry, I just couldn't miss this chance. -
Took me a few seconds to figure out JJBA element with Dio's The World stand power
-
Gotta say that I enjoyed the original PBF strip better.
!
-
….both of those comics were great.

About #985 raw:
! Vorg will win. I really want to see both Sendo and Ippo with the "Did I really win against this friggin' monster?" facial expression. I don't think it is a coincidence the fact Morikawa put just the two of them to watch this match together. They'll probably give some good comments and jokes but this is the kind of match in which I'd like to see comments from Takamura or Kamogawa. Also, I'm pretty sure that this will make Sendo pumped to go after Martinez. It'd be fucking awesome if Martinez were in the first row watching the match, to see Sendo's reaction.

#986 RAW
Edit: too bad MS doesn't release HnI-chaps on a regular schedule anymore
-
! Yeah, was looking into 986 on the Dynamite Glove forums… shows off the strength of the champ and so on. :)
-
What the hell does anyone actually scanlate Hajime no Ippo anymore?
-
What the hell does anyone actually scanlate Hajime no Ippo anymore?
Yeah, why are there no translations out there? Just when the story is actually heading towards the world stage :S
-
What the hell does anyone actually scanlate Hajime no Ippo anymore?
Actually, there really was only one guy who did the translations, and he ended up in the hospital recently with a huge bill.
I frequent(lurk) the Dynamite Glove forums.. seems like he's out of commission for awhile. -
That's sad. But weird. Only one guy is interested in translating this manga? This manga is pretty good, I thought there would be more interest. And I'm not even talking about scanlations. Textual translations right beside the raws would be enough to enjoy the chapters.
-
i'm more surprised that no one else has decided to do the chapters even out of respect for how long the series has been running.
-
Yeah. One would expect that another translator with some time would pick up the series after noticing how far behind its getting. If only I knew japanese…
-
Yeah.. as far as I know, there is/was only one.
There was another guy who did it too.. but something came up and he had to stop translating all together, due to reality.
-
Even #988 RAW is out.
That makes the 7th chapter…almost a volume :(

It says something about that last arc when I just don't care about this delay.
-
for all us Ippo fans there is this tweet at mangastream "For all you #Ippo fans out there - we didn't drop it. There were some difficulties, but we are slowly working on solving those." i hope they solve them sooner than later :/. I really want to read ippo :'(
-
Me too. I hope they work it out.
-
They'll get to it eventually. :)
-
Aah sure was a treat to read Hajime no Ippo after such a long while… and 3 chapters a row is a nice way to read it since pacing can be slow sometimes (duh).
Really nice chapters though... gotta give Morikawa that he got some really nice charecters in his series =)
-
Gotta love that Volg spread at the end.

Next Raw is Out. 991

Really, one chapter with 10 pages where nothing happens? He might as well have taken the week off.
-
@Thousand:
Really, one chapter with 10 pages where nothing happens? He might as well have taken the week off.
Actually there was a explanation for that chapter.
He got suckered into doing a 10 chapter miniseries, and was focusing on finishing that first WHILE on top of his Ippo series here. -
Which is why I say he should have taken the week off. That chapter was a literal waste of time. You can skip it and absolutely nothing changes. Ippo and Sendo run a lot. Better he just worked on the next chapter.

Chapter 991
Chapter 992
Chapter 993
Chapter 994 -
While it was refreshing to read Hajime No Ippo again, in the end, absolutley nothing happened in 3 rounds. Honestly this fight is rather boring. :/ Albeit better than previous fights, it's kind of just meh for me.
Am I the only one?
-
Is he really going to spend the 1000th chapter of Ippo for a Vorg fight? There's no way it'll be resolved until then.
-
I don't think nothing happend in those last chapter, beside they're pretty short. It's like the match step in on another level, a level that Vorg deserved rather than beeing smashed like nothing on the first round. Plus it's gonna get into proper tactical fight in order to show ippo and sendo what's the world stage is like.
When I think of other match in the past which took ages for nothing, this one doesn't bother me too much.
-
This is so repetitive that i don't even read the text anymore.
-
Well if you think about it, this fight is different in pace than some of the more current fights. Quite a few people are still angry over the Woli fight and this slowing down is the old style of the artist. People who have been extra long time readers enjoy this pace better than some of the others because it actually shows the fight and not some 'super moves'
-
I don't mind it. The fight's not amazing but it's a hundred times better than anything else in the past few years. And who doesn't like good ol' Vorg in action?
-
HOLY FUCK, HAJIME NO IPPO IS ENTERTAINING AGAIN!
This is the best fight the series has had in years, I'm enjoying it quite a bit, though I presume that getting 3 chapters at once every month or so helps to make it not seem like nothing is happening.
-
This series should be a monthly release tbh. I think it would be so much better. Other than that, this fight has been the most realistic in years. and I'm loving it.
-
Another new chapter is out on mangastream.
Chapter 995 -
Leave it to David Eagle to be that classy.
-
Yet another installment of Hajime no Ippo on Mangastream.
Chapter 996 -
Really really liking this fight, takes me back to Ippo's golden age a bit.
