Weird.

Juggernaut destroyed the WTC once.
Genosha's destruction was also published a month before 9/11.
John Bryne (spelling error?) wrote a Superman comic where the WTC was destroyed.

Is that WTC, or the Space Shuttle Challenger? In any case, John Byrne does has many scary psychic moments. The one you mentioned, having Spidey dealing with a blackout in NY 6 months before it occurs, making a cover with the words 'Princess Diana Dies' on a newspaper a few days before it really happens…I'm sure there are some more.

No idea. I read about it on Cracked…
Read the first three Invincible ultimate collection. Great stuff.

Oh man...I can hear complaining now.
So what about Jade?
Just started to read the DC Comics Knight and Squire Series on Xcomics app
never seen issues of it in comic shops, but Issue 1 seems to got me interested in reading more about the duo.
I just finished Kingdom Come. It was my first western, superhero comic. I liked that it was easy to get into even though I'm not especially familiar with the DC Universe(I only know it through the cartoons like Super Friends, Justice League, JL Unlimited, Batman and Superman animated series, and most recently, Young Justice). The art was really good. Almost photorealistic, with the colors and lighting giving it the feel of 1950's advertising art. I think I like crossover books with all the superheros, pretty much for the same reason I enjoyed the Justice League and Young Justice cartoons. So I think I will try more books like this. Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis sound interesting.
Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis are unreadable if you're not familiar with the main DC universe.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the heads up.

Ohhh.
Good way to jump in: Alex Ross!
Spectacular artist.

I'd pick up the trade paperbacks for the 52 (the series not the relaunch). It was the first thing that got me into reading superhero comics. The series was released weekly so the pace and story beats shouldn't feel off if you read weekly manga and I don't think there's really that much back story you need to know. The story is essentially about mostly C/D-list characters and their lives during the aftermath of one of the big DC events (it may have been infinite crisis though I'm not sure?)

Alan scott is before a lot of people's time, definitely before mine. I can't fault them for not knowing who he is, but to talk like they do really grinds my gears.
I'm not going to lie, that comment about "Alan scott's weakness to wood being ironic" got a chuckle out of me.
I think one big issue with the whole "being gay" thing, is that… it's always perceived as a big thing, or something that makes an interesting character, when it is just a sexual preference.
It's like me being the only black guy at a white party, and me running around yelling that I'm black.
That and.... why take an old character to do that? and How does him being gay make him more interesting?
Swung by the comic store on the way back from Uni and picked up:
Action Comics #10
Dial H #2
Animal Man #10
Swamp Thing #10
Before Watchmen: Minutemen #1
Does Invincible bum anyone else out?
For me, it's almost as bad as the Walking Dead.
Sorry to drop in here randomly and demand things (no, I'm not), but my son is five and he's really getting in to the X-Men, so I've been digging out some of my old Wolverine and Uncanny X-Men issues to show him (the less violent ones– hard with Wolverine)... anyway, now I really want to read some new stuff, myself. Last big series I read was Civil War, Planet Hulk, and World War Hulk. Haven't read anything DC in a long, long time. So my question is:
Can anyone suggest some good story arcs for me to pick up from a local store? I can check if a buddy of mine has them too, but ideally I'd like to read some more X-Men [Utopia? Schism?] stuff given my son is in to it, but have no complaints if anybody has other suggestions for a good (preferably longer) set of story arcs. I'd like to avoid tie-ins, if possible, as I don't have time to track down everything. I'm also up for non-mainstream stuff; last I read was Y The Last Man.
I don't want to kill discussion though, so feel free to PM me or visitor message me.
Messiah Complex, Second Coming and Schism should catch you up with the X-Men status quo. Wolverine and the X-Men is a great book for readers of all ages. Uncanny X-Men (by Kieron Gillen) and Uncanny X-Force should satisfy the more mature audiences.

I haven't really been reading much Marvel since the price up between the big 2 companies really makes a difference from where I live. Picked up a chunk of Kieron Gillen's Journey into Mystery issues a while back and that's a pretty interesting series currently at Marvel. If you liked Y The Last Man then I'd suggest picking up Saga from Image comics since they're written by the same author only instead of a post-apocalyptic setting, Saga is really becoming a great adventure series. People are calling it Romeo and Juliet meets Star Wars but I think that, though the author plays with some of the same themes, it's really taken it's own entity and I haven't even talked about the artwork. Issue 4 comes out next week so you wouldn't be too far behind. Other then that I'd suggest picking up anything in the "Dark" line of DC comics even if you are turned off by the corniness of the group's label. The line is essentially rejuvenating the pre-vertigo days of DC with mature books still linked to the mainstream universe. The Animal Man and Swamp Thing crossover has been building up for almost a year now so I'd suggest picking up the trades that just came out if you're interested.
Saga:

Animal Man/Swamp Thing:

I absolutely love Azzarrelo's Wonder Woman. Didn't expect there to be this almost Neil Gaiman-esque writing inside him.

Great news, I really love GOTG so I hope that they won't screw it up. I wonder why they use Thanos Imperative for the Thanos-centric storyline - it's not that bad really, but still pales in comparison to Infinity Gauntlet or even Annihilation. Well, they need to tie in to the Avengers though, and can't exactly kill Thanos in their movie. But yeah, I hope they do justice to the crew and the great script they're talking about isn't an exaggeration.
I recently read the Thanos Imperative and it was really good. These guys rock in it but it did have so much storylines in it. NOt to mention that I didnt read the prev work where the rift occurred
I also read the next amazing spider man volume, the one called the fantastic spider man. It was funny but not the best. the one where he was a subtitue was interesting
I read Messiah Complex a while ago and I'm looking for the Cable series that come after it. thats a aftermath though, messaih war is the sequel/.
I've been getting lotsa comics from the county library…
Some things that I've read that I really liked:
Flashpoint
Emperor Joker
Superman: Infinite City
Superman: Secret Origin
Superman/Batman: The Search for Kryptonite
52 (I've read it before, but I seem to enjoy it more now)
Batman: The Black Mirror
I think I saw Messiah Complex there, but when I did, I already had a hefty pile....
I'll get it next time (Along with GON!)

Gee, this reminds me of the last time they did it….last year.
For fuck's sake.

This thing is only gonna cause confusion, especialy with longer running titles.
That was DC, No Maam.
And the confusion came from them half rebooting, half relaunching.

I realised that soon after posting. But the problem is the same, it's gonna get confusing for picking things up.

A](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=62892)lonso says it's not like DC's reboot.
Just a relaunch. Team rosters are getting switched up, people get new costumes.
CONTINUITY STAYS THE SAME.
!
Everyone looks alright.
Can't say I love Cap's new suit. Looks too much like Ultimate Cap (maybe to go in line with the new Avengers Assemble show?)
Also, Spidey no longer has the stripe things going down his arm, making his costume more like the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.
I still think Thor deserves a cape.
The guy with the big gun looks to be Cable. Sweet!
Do we know who the new Iron Man is yet? Well, I don't…
Rocket Raccoon! Maybe because of the GotG movie in a couple years?
The robot near Hulk looks like Skeets and the Fantastic 4's Herbie fused.
Probably the biggest thing (to me) is MARVEL GIRL!
JEAN GREY IS COMING BACK!!
Through time travel. Weird!
EDIT: Holy cow, I've just realised the red-suit X-Man with the glowing 'X' on his face is...Cyclops?? Whoa!
EDIT2: Okay, new Iron Man is Rhodey. Sweet!
I picked up some comics today at this comic book store that out of town. I pick up Wonder Woman (DC New 52) #2, Avenging Spider-Man #7 (Got for the She-Hulk appearnce), and got Sensnational She-Hulk issues 29, and 31(for 50 cents). The Avenging Spider-Man issue 7 was pretty great. I got some good laughs from the Jen and Spider-Man coments.
All the redesigns look terrible. It's like Marvel was trying to outdo Jim Lee's New 52 designs in pointless X-TREMEEEEE costumes. And Quesada shows that he's just as bad at drawing as he is at everything else.
And get Wolverine out of his yellow spandex already. It didn't look good in 1975, it didn't look good in 1991 when he ditched the brown costume for it, it didn't look good in 2004 when he ditched the black leather for it and it doesn't look good now.
I'm sure other artists will change things up and make 'em better.
I myself like Wolverine's brown costume the most.
That new (or is it old…?) Cyclops looks so beast.
Phoenix Five need to drown themselves…really...
and here I thought Summers couldn't be a bigger dick than he already was, now he's a freakin' psychic...
I remember when people used to b*tch about Scott being a boyscout and vanilla and all that.
Now he's public enemy número uno and people complain that he's a dick.
:V
That panel when he pinky blocked Thor is legendary status.
If only they had turned him sooner.
Well, we have the spread page of Namor riding the ocean towards Wakanda to kill all the Avengers now.
Wolverine's yellow spandex is iconic yo, like Spidey suit and Superman S iconic. To think they would just throw it out for eternity is… not the best thinking.
Well, we have the spread page of Namor riding the ocean towards Wakanda to kill all the Avengers now.
Holy shit… as SOON as I left that post I bought AvX #7...
So much Namor love.
IMPERIUS REX indeed.
Namor is the only one out of them I can tolerate…
And that spread is fantastic, actually got chills~
This issue was so-so, but it had some brilliant moments. Hawkeye getting burned alive (hate this guy), Tony getting bitchslapped and verbally owned (hate this guy) and the finally Namor going to war to kill the Avengers once and for all (hate these guys).
Am I completely in the wrong for rooting for Mister Sinister?
Am I completely in the wrong for rooting for Mister Sinister?
If he has that bitchin' suit, then no.
Anyway after getting more info on some of the new books, I'm not really feeling it.
Hickman on Avengers should be amazing, but it will be bi-weekly plus he'll also be writing New Avengers. That's 12 bucks a month. Still, if it's good, it's good (I only got into comics when double shipping and 3.99 was the standard, so I'm used to it).
The only good thing about Uncanny Avengers is the creative team. I HATE that the X-Men are now going to be with the Avengers and the line-up just makes me cringe. Rogue has been terrible for years, Scarlet Witch lost all sympathy, Thor and Cap are grade A douchejerks, Wolverine is Wolverine (I liked him before he became a race traitor) and Havok is just there because Marvel needs another straight white male to push. And it doesn't even make sense from an in-story explanation. This book is supposedly about showing how mutants aren't all bad, yet all these guys (except Havok) are murderers, former terrorists or people who work outside the law to do dirty work. Why not add some women like Storm and Kitty who have actually already tried to bridge the human/mutant divide and don't have a laundry lists of criminal activities. I mean Thor is neither a human nor a mutant for crying out loud.
All-New X-Men is just completely and utterly retarded. Not only are they cancelling Marve's best selling (and one of their best) comics for it, they're replacing it with a book that is about a team of whitebread 1963 mutants who are going to brownnose all the characters we love and cherish because they aren't "good" people. What the fuck kind of premise is that. And it's going to set the tone for the upcoming years???? And Marvel always vote with your money, yet the best-selling book is replaced with a team that has gotten five or six ongoings throughout the decades and they all sold miserably.
Basically, ll I got from this is that Marvel continues to be clueless about what to do with the X-Men and are happy to just burn them to the ground to prop up the Avengers (who FYI sell less books than the X-Men). I can't wait what Fox is going to do with the X-movies in the nearby future!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Am I completely in the wrong for rooting for Mister Sinister?
Mister Sinister is the best. I love how he trolls everyone. Especially Gambit (fans).
Yeah. After hearing about all the events with the X-men, I joked about how Magneto's technically right in that the X-men will never be accepted by society because….then the part of the premises of the story is kind of gone, and since its not like these comics ever end, they're kind of in an eternal match with this conflict.
They actually became somewhat tolerated during Morrison's run. They developed their own culture and everything with their own music, their own fashion and their own ghettos (lol). They truly became a proper metaphor for modern minorities (and Magneto did come back in that storyline and it was made blatantly clear that he is old and senile and didn't know what the hell he was talking about).
And then Marvel decided to depower them all, make them an extinct species and throw them under the bus because they liked the Avengers better (this was even before the movies).
What does the Avengers have to do with it!?
Sounds more like something similar to what they did with Spider-Man and the grim reaper type deal where they stir up drama for the sake of drama.
I've been thinking about getting into western comics lately, can anybody recommend me a place to start, besides DC and Marvel stuff. I don't feel like touching their confusing universes yet. I've been thinking about checking out the Watchmen or Y: The Last Man. Any tips or recommendations? I'm pretty much just asking for beginner level comics.
What does the Avengers have to do with it!?
I think its mainly because of the movie rights and the fact that X-Men, at least with the movies, is owned by Fox, while the Avengers are exclusively Marvel's.
In my eyes they are shitting on X-men because the movies are what a majority of people know them from nowadays. Seeing how big the Avengers movie was its only natural they would go with the media Juggernaut that they actually own.
Just my two cents.
