One Piece Chapter 670 - Blizzards with a Chance of Slime
-
The slime didn't explode because it just came out in an area not covered in flames, even though it was on the burning part of the island. The ambient temperature on the island didn't reach the slime's flash point, so it doesn't explode.
Set phasers to Stun Franky!
One Trek.
It really isn't that kind of fiction? The only manga-like explanation is that the complete blob needs more intense heat than a smaller piece, but even then I don't think it's worth thinking about.

already discussing @ page 10 or 11 a few hours after reading the chapter!
the page count depends on your profile settings, for me this thread is currently at page 6…
and yeah nice, but seemingly short chapter..

It's worth to me, because I like thinking about it. It's no surprise I like sci-fi.
Besides, even if the massive slime touches flames, it won't completely explode, and most of the slime will stay intact.

"Luffy! It's probably Row."
Holy shit, mangapanda. Terrible translator.
-
Anybody thought of Jinbei when they said the slime is weak to water? If Jinbei joined after the Fishmen Island arc then the slime would be disposed of easily. Maybe that's why he didn't join. :ninja:
Or maybe this arc will show Nami's true control over weather?
(I hate to say strength, because she doesn't need it for a weather attack.)
-
Well damn, even in Tashigi's body, Smoker is still quite strong! Anyways, great chapter! :)

Yeah, I could hardly understand some of the things this chapter. I'm probably gonna go read CCC's translation.

slime not good with water??
Maybe its a part of clown…that's why the water weakness....
slime is formed from gas condensing and caesar is gas...
so he may have kept a part of him in slime....
what do u think guys??? -
Well damn, even in Tagashi's body, Smoker is still quite strong! Anyways, great chapter! :)
I wonder why he used multiple jabs instead of pinning him down with one attack (it is seastone after all). Luffy got hurt, so there was no armor haki between them whatsoever.

Holy typo! I didn't know it was possible for somebody to butcher "Tashigi" this much.
Anyway, okay chapter, mostly due to Luffy/Smoker interaction.

Slime secret…. its bastard brother of dragonball's majin buu

I had a hard time reading this chapter. The scan looked a bit bad and the spelling was off in some places. It was an alright chapter, but I had a hard time following some spots.

With that hat on (the cover page), Robin looks like Miss Valentine with black hair.

how a creature weak to fire and with the size of the mountain traveled unscathed through A LAND ENTIRELY COVERED WITH FIRE?
What I don't think some people in general realize is that this was a tiny part of the slime, and it took a lot of fire to make it explode.
When it was travelling across the burning side of the island, it was all together, thus giving it a higher flash point. Had it been a bunch of these small ones travelling across they all would have exploded, but as it was the one large one, there was no danger of that.
However, we should also consider that iot isn't fire that makes it explode. After all, why would CC bring it onto the ice side of the island if he simply plans on detonating it?
Honestly, CC is a dumb, dumb villain (literally.) He is making all the classic villain mistakes: monologueing , showing his opponents the bomb to strike fear into the hearts instead of just detonating the damn thing, etc.
I'm surprised more villains haven't taken a page out of Ozymandias' handbook, and sent the Alien out before monologueing.

In other news, are we still believing that Brownbeard is actually dead? If he some how survived, I have no idea how any of those Marines did, last I checked none of them were guardian spirits of Alabasta. But then again, who knows?

My guess is that Luffy was dodging most of them.
It's either show Smoker using multiple jabs in a single panel, or using a series of single jabs over a multitude of them. How fun would a Gomu Gomu no Gatling be if Oda gave each punch its own panel?

I just used the search function, but no mention about relation to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" in the title? :o (unless that was added by fans)

this was a somewhat slow chapter, but finally the fight against the 'master' has started. It seems to me that this episode is going to be one like the thriller bark arc where the Strawhats have to team up to take on this monster.
-
about the theory to explain the MotherSlime ways trough the FireLand…the flash point one makes sense. But my first though was that the gas that the MotherSlime released was enough to block the flame contact with oxygen, killing this same flame.

"Fighting you in an imperfect condition is meaningless"
Oh, please, don't -__- don't let Luffy become one of this kind of characters, for god's sake.
What? He always was.

I guess for the same reason boxers use jabs. It's easier to hit with multiple small attacks than a large one.
Smoker normally just tries to pin people because his DF makes it a lot easier. Luffy dodged the big one even after being hit with sea stone so yeah.
And well, Smoker was really well fighting in Tashigi's body, but we gotta give it to Luffy, he had no intention of fighting whatsoever. He was just laughing his ass off while dodging… -
It won't, but it's worth a shot.
Personally, I'd point to Luffy kicking a door in and sending both Ace and Smoker flying through a wall back in Alabasta.
Arabastra does not count because they were both solid at the time, not in their elemental -therefore intangable- forms. I looked for it but can not find it I remember Oda had said there was a difference between Ace, Smoker and Crocodile back then. Crocodile had trained to go into his intangable form instanaeoulsy while Smoker and Ace had not reached that level of experience yet (Ace only had the DF for 3 or less years, no idea how long Smoker had his) so Smoker and Ace could be taken by surprise and be hit … but once that surprise was gone both would kick ass
-
it might be the smaller parts blew up but as a whole it would take alot more, so i'm guessing a powerful fire attack would work. The only problem is 2 little slime balls made the same impact as a bomb, the entire slime creature exploding would be like a 100 megaton nuke. *which wouldn't leave much of PH and possibly part of the NW)

what do u think guys???Caeser being prone to water is the same as Croc, so I doubt it.

Yea, it has been back for a couple weeks.
Kinda slow chapter, but nice to see what Slime is like.

What would cc accomplish detonating the slime?

The chapter was hilarious. Very entertaining read, especially Luffy grabbing Clown in the middle of his speech.

Mangastream has it as "A Snowstorm with a chance of slime" so it seems like the correct title. As for its relation with the movie, it could be, though the " _____ with a chance of _____ " has been a weather forecasting joke beforehand as long as I can remember.
-

Eliminating everyone who knows he's there (except Joker)? I get the impression CC's just trying to hit the reset button, and if he kills everyone he can restart testing in peace.

But he would kill monet and law, and he would destroy his lab and all of his investigations will be lost, what about the frozen giant dudes at the lab, the ships destroyed too, only way out of the island.

A true villain doesn't care about his 'allies'. A true villain would gladly kill them if it benefited him somehow, i.e. ending the rising chaos on Punk Hazard and starting anew.

Well yeah, but if Smoker or any of the marines get off the island, none of that matters. I also think he's not too worried about Monet (where is she anyway?) or Law. Better to wipe the slate clean (and scare the marines away from the island again) and start over

yeah I included them because we don't know if he needs monet or law for his plans (as crocodile needed robin for example), we don't even know what his plans are, what are his intentions?
But my main point, what about the experiments, Would he throw all his work? Would he start again on another island? where? when? how? I mean in punk hazard he has the prisoners who barely survived cc's "accident" four years ago and the wg doesn't allow anybody to enter in the island, would he find another ideal place for his lab so easily? And even more important, would joker like this decision of caesar?
In my opinion he would only detonate the slime if he knows for sure luffy is gonna beat him, so I don't see why is so tupid that he hasn't detonated it yet. -
I think Luffy made the chapter this week…..his scuffle/reactions with Smoker and Tashigi were amusing.....as was him grabbing Caesar in the middle of his speech.
But holy crap, the Slime monsters sure do explode when they're ignited…...hopefully Zoro, Brook, and Sanji can tread carefully.....

Some fans had mentioned it in this thread. "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" is actually an animation film, not a OP chapter, they were remarking on the similarity of the title of the movie to this chapter. And another fan mentioned the chapter 453:"Cloudy, with a Small Chance of Bones"
-
This chapter was good! I liked the part where Smoker said to Luffy while in Tashigi's body "Don't be so arrogant prick" Loved it! Haha epic Tashigi in Smoker's body fail while attacking Luffy.
-
Maybe Luffy's antibodies will have a role to play now…
-
Enjoyed the chapter ever. My favourite points: 1. Luffy's glomp and 2. Caeser clown's "shilololo" laugh. Nobody does laughter like Oda.
-
Like I said months ago, IMHO Caesar Clown is the scientist that's going to explain us what devil fruits really are (Oda said there will be such a scientist in SBS). So probably Slime is from Caesar's DF (also, it seems he can control it)…
Ps: I don't get why someone posted two Mr.Three pages and two from this chapter pages ago. Explain?!
-
akagami7 is right… And even if Ceasar wanted to destroy everything, why the fuck would he still be laughing? We haven't seen Ceasar getting worried 'till now, so this means that he thinks that he has everything under control, and doen't need to blow up the whole island...

Newp that's Vegapunk. :< It would destroy all my life if that speech wasn't held by Dr. Vegapunk. Like REALLY!
Maybe if Doflamingo did it it wouldn't be that bad…And Ceaser getting out right now is advantageous for him... Well, there is a chance for slime. If he's out the enemies won't hide under a roof... And when the slime actually forms back again, it would destroy the lab if he fought them inside, so going outside is the best.
-
Anyone else get the vibe form this picture that CC could be related to Kinemon (Wano Samurai) as in he could possibly be his son?

Thanks, so I wasn't the only one - mentioned this on page 2 without much of a response. Not really convinced but it's worth a shot :ninja:

Completely agree, 100%. I've said the same thing in the General Devil Fruit thread. It would absolutely ruin the hype and anticipation of Vegapunk. Maybe a hint of unintentional remark by him or something could be good, but if he's the one to explain the Devi Fruits what point does Vegapunk have?
-
Luffy catching CC already?! This arc is going really fast, and without any obvious 1-on-1 matchups for the crew, it is rightfully so.
Hell Memories can probably take care of the Slime. The problem would be tossing it to air so it will not take the whole island on an explosion.
-
I should add that while the stroked comment is sarcastic, I really do think Vegapunk should do that devil fruit introduction. He's always been the one we know knows the most about them. So, yeah…
-
On another site someone once suggested that Aokiji could create fighting ice clones of himself, sort of like shadow clones in Naruto. Back then, I thought the theory was ridiculous; it just can't happen that way in the OP world. But now we've seen things that could be the first stages of a technique like that. In Impel Down, Magellan used his Doku Gumo attack and stated the thing was part of him and that it's alive. And now we've seen CC create a slime monster from his gas that can think and attack on it's own. If a logia can create an attack like these that also resembles the user, we could be looking at OP type shadow clones with one major difference. In Naruto, when shadow clones are attacked, they're destroyed. When Magellan used Doku Gomu, Luffy blew it away and it just reformed.

Fun chapter, but I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a chance to see Tashigi-in-Smoker have anxiety issues over Robin being there. This is the first time she's seen Ms. All Sunday since their little skirmish, after all…
