Technically speaking the game isn't new and I don't know if the title is a proper fit but hey so long as the game is good like all those gameplay videos made it out to be (back when it was TC:Hong Kong) don't care.
Looking really cool so far.
Still waiting on Versus XIII. It's like SE is going out of their way to pursue EVERY title but that.
@Angelus:

It's a Final Fantasy title they all take time to get put out that and this is a way for Square-Enix to make more money outside of the Japanese market.
Did anyone end up picking this one up? I did and its pretty decent. Combat is a lot of fun, kinda like Batman's. Aint got far enough to comment on the story tho.
Tryna pick this up, but its all sold out in hk now, and if the shop got some odd stock, its double over priced, ridiculous.
I desperately want this, but I bought a 3DS XL instead. Sadly I refuse to buy it at Walmart because they fucking actually PRINTED A WALMART EXCLUSIVE DLC PACK ADVERTISEMENT ON THE BOXART. Not a sticker, they actually made it into the boxart. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/6/68746/2292892-2292887-photo_1.jpg So I'll be buying it elsewhere, I'll forego the exclusive DLC for the pristine boxart… that's just the kinda guy I am.

Rocksmith actually registers on PSN as Rocksmith: Best Buy Edition, and has all kinds of branding inside. Terrible.
I know. It's starting to get out of hand, but publishers will allow it as it makes them more money on striking a deal with a retail chain. I dread if it comes to the point of retailer exclusive games.
I played through this game over the past week or so. It's a small game compared to something like GTA, but there's still plenty of world in it. And the entire game only has about 25 hours worth of gameplay, unfortunately. You could probably squeeze more out of it with the racing and mission replays if you really wanted to. That said…
This game freaking rocks. It might not be that long, but I loved every minute of it. It's an open world sandbox with stuff to do, but the story and missions are what drive this game. I might very well go back and do the various mission replays just because I really enjoyed a lot of them. The fighting engine is a blast, and even after playing through it all I still enjoy doing it. It's built on a rock/paper/scissors attack/counter/grapple system, and there's still enough variety within them, and the AI is solid so different enemies require different strategies to defeat. The biggest downside being that the few enemy grapples can be broken after the fact, so you can literally just counter and win, but it's very slow and boring to do that so there's no incentive to be cheap unless you're almost dead. Gun fights are the same as ever, except you can only pocket one small weapon at most, and people won't even talk to you if you're holding a gun. It's the game's way of forcing more melee combat, which is the best part, and it works well.
The racing feels like it's lacking something, much like GTA racing I suppose. It's fun, but not racing game fun. The game also lines the racetrack with lights, so there's no being confused on which way or when to turn, but it also eliminates shortcuts and such which usually come from an open world. At least the cars are cool. The worst part of the game, and only part of it that actively annoyed me was the camera while driving. Well, driving's ok, but turning around and expecting the camera to behave is a nightmare. You can spin your car around, then spin the camera around to look forwards, but then you hit the gas and the camera decides it needs to spin and look backwards first. And pushing the right analog stick down while driving acts as your rearview mirror, which is never the goal when I do it.
In the end, I love this game, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes GTA. It's a short but sweet version.
For the record, I picked up the PC version off of Steam. It's very good and has a free HQ texture pack you can grab. It's not just some crappy port. I'd recommend the PC version to anyone who can run the high res stuff.

Dang looks ugly yes.
The Melee combat seemed so good at first. Now it just annoys me so much, countering will put up in an awkward position where he won't counter and then stand like a pudding after being attacked. Really annoying trying to do the Drug Busts cus of it.
Races are simple yet fun, the real fun in this game is the main missions, although I feel like I'm speeding through them
Weird, countering works flawlessly for me from any angle. But if you hit the counter button and then don't get hit, you sort of stumble and can't do anything for a bit. There's a skill you get later on that reduces the time it takes to recover from a missed counter. I assume that's what your talking about. You just can't hit the button before a guy within range glows red or you'll get messed up. You can even hit it while you're in the middle of an attack animation.

I've playing sporadically out of the week and outside of a few gripes I like it.

For me it's mainly with people with melee weapons. A lot seem to be impossible for Wei to counter. Fortunately I found it more satisfying just jumping in a car and running down the mobs

Again, I can't relate. I never once had issues countering someone who was using a melee weapon. It must be a console issue that I never had or something.
However, if Wei himself is using a melee weapon, counters become what are essentially blocks.
A Halloween themed singleplayer DLC (ala Undead Nightmare) is coming, but instead of zombies it's ghosts (I guess?)
United Front Games confirmed that they're making a sequel; Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars. They'll share more news next year.
So excited about that. Sleeping Dogs was an underappreciated gem.
Likewise, I considered it the finest sandbox game I ever played (tho GTAV will probably unseat it). I platinumed it but I never did get around to playing the DLC tho.
Hope the sequel is more engrossing and less linear.
Definitive Edition announced for PS4 and Xbone. It'll include all DLC.
…60 bucks. October 14th
I'll wait for Black Friday.
The article that initially announced this mentioned PC as well. I'm going to be pissed if it's like Tomb Raider and they do some upgrades but don't patch the upgrades into the PC version/release this on PC.
So how do you make a trailer for a video game remaster release? You use CGI/Live-action footage without any gameplay and slap review quotes from the original release all over it!
…why is everyone doing this?
You gotta use that $10 million marketing budget somehow.
Edit: Oh and it says Steam at the end so it seems it is coming to PC. Wonder what they changed.
While I wanna stay hopeful and say they improved things… I think it's safe to say it's just going to be the PC version with all the DLC.
That would make is pretty pointless to release it on PC too though. And Tomb Raider had enhancements even if most of them weren't so much upgrades as just being different. They should add dynamic shadows indoors and at night. In the original game all you'd get is some black near your feet, if that, even if you're near a light source.
[hide][/hide]
And maybe make the reflection quality better.
Oh damn, yeah. Definitely gotta get some dynamic lighting up in that.
I didn't mind because you only go indoors like two times in the entire game
True. Still, it happens at night too even if you're in a place with lighting. And car headlights don't cast shadows either, though that's pretty common and even Watch Dogs didn't do that until someone modded it in. GTAIV has an option for it but it kills your performance. At the same time the flashlights on guns do cast shadows. So the sun and weapon flashlights are the only shadow casting lights in the entire game, maybe excluding in cutscenes. I just like my dynamic shadows. The ones that exist in SD though are really high quality.
You gotta use that $10 million marketing budget somehow.
Between disastrous game launches, delays, and lawsuits it's funny Square decided to even put so much money into that.
I don't know if that's how much is was but it's clearly too high and they're using it in the wrong way.
Triad Wars is an online game, possibly F2P.
FUCK. EVERYTHIIIIING.
Yep, just saw the tweet. Damn shame.
Why am I only hearing about Triad Wars now?
So it's literally a carbon-copy of Sleeping Dogs, seems to be using all of its assets and mechanics untouched. Except it is an online-only PC game.
I signed up for the beta just to see if it has any possibility of being good. I'm not holding my breath though. Also it makes no sense to me that this game is PC only. They're almost certainly not doing anything that would require a PC over a console and F2P (which I'm expecting this to be) games with cash shops are on consoles. The entire thing is just really confusing.
It… doesn't look any different from the PC version? There's several gameplay demos up on YouTube as well.
Did anyone expect it to look different from the PC version? I want to know about what settings compared to the PC version it is and if it's 30 fps or 60 fps. Because you're right, it doesn't look much different if at all, and all the stuff they talked about in the video are options from the PC version.

Yeah, they talked about how it was a complete remaster. That they improved the models, textures, lighting, etc. Also it is confirmed to be locked at 30fps…
They improved all those things compared to the last gen version. I did notice what might be improved reflections but that's not worth an extra $60 if you already have the game on PC. Other things might have been improved that just aren't noticeable in the 2 second snippets they kept flashing across the screen. Won't know till it's out/someone does an analysis.
