Anyone else kinda surprised that Luffy seems to recognize Law?
Err…did you forget that Luffy fought at his side in Sabondy Archipelago right after he punched a Tenryuubito? He seemed very conscious there when that happened...

I am more surprised Smoker lost, but Law is one bad dude. I cannot wait for the next chapter.
Wouldn't be surprised if this takes a U-turn. So far he took his heart, but I see no reason why Smoker couldn't transform it to smoke and let it return to his body. The separated parts still function (like the upper and lower body of the Samurai), so what would stop him from doing so?
Nothing more to say but really great chapter. That fight was short, sweet and had me on the edge of my seat = awesome.
About the break, is it a holiday or something?
Law may be evil, but atleast he is not heartless.
You guys do know these pictures don't have to be the new bounty pictures, right? It's from a newspaper.
Kali maaaaaaa
Kali MAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Interesting chapter. But Tashigi's failure gravely disappointed me more so than Usopp's cowardice in the last chapter. Oh, Tashigi. We want you to succeed. You just don't…
Law is completely broken as of right now, but I'm sure there'll be some way to beat him (a la "omg eneru is so strong, oh but wait luffy's rubber"). If, that is, the crew fights him.
Also, for some reason i got the vibe that maybe Luffy would fight M and Zoro would fight Law? Just because we learned that they're working together and Luffy almost always fights the leader of the operation (except in the case of CP9), and since Law uses a sword, and Zoro is a swordsman. Plus, if Zoro defeated Law, it would further shame Tashigi. And shame is basically a trend with Tashigi right now. Ta-shame-i.
Anyone else kinda surprised that Luffy seems to recognize Law? Luffy was unconcuious during the whole time that Law was saving him and even if he learned who saved him, Luffy's terrible with names and doesn't read the newspapers and wouldn't normally connect the person who saved him with a person he saw at SA by their name alone. He would have needed to be shown a picture (probably the bounty poster) of Law to really know who saved him. Although since he does recognize Law (he must have been shown a picture of Law to go with the name), their interaction in this arc should be very interesting. Even though Law's messed with his nakama, it's not irreversable as long as Law's around so I can see them being both enemies and allies in this arc. Not to mention, Law could very well betray M at some point as alliances between villains usually end in betrayal (like the last arc).
Not really. Luffy met Law at Sabaody and fought the marines alongside Law. Factor in that he was a potential rival of Luffy's, and that he saved Luffy's life (he was told that Law saved him, even though he was unconcious at the time), and it really isn't surprising that this is someone Luffy would remember. And he never actually said Law's name. Luffy just said "It's you!".
Law may be evil, but atleast he is not heartless.
Great chapter. Too bad about the break.
Also, isn't "Harpy" her surname? I'm pretty sure her first name is "Mone," as she was even addressed as that in the chapter. We don't need another "Boa" thing to happen.
"Vegapunk's dragon".
Special animal modification?
I still don't understand how Law got smoker's heart. Did he like punch it out and punch through the rock? Becuase he definately didn't sawp it out.
It seems fairly obvious given a rectangular hole in Smoker's chest.
Why are people in such a rush to post before reading through carefully?
Because, he is Logia and just cutting something without boxing it would simply mean the heart could turn to smoke and that would be that.
While the hole is square, there is a cube around Smokers heart. And I dont really want to go all scientific, but since you are using square hole as a base for an argument. If it was just that (a square attack taking everything in its path ) there would probably ribs around that heart as well not to mention blood which is red. But that matters jack because, like I said he can switch objects inside his room, he can't contain them (or another point marines would not be able to leave his area)
So yeah I think it is ice (or are you saying that Law will now need to have this room operating 24/7 if he wants to contain this heart. So if lets say, right now he expands it again to fight Luffy the heart would had space again and could turn to smoke and his control over it would be gone.
I highly doubt that Law and Luffy are going to have an out right battle. I was shocked enough that we saw the entirety of Law vs. Smoker, very rarely do we see important side characters who aren't the big bads' of the arc fight outright. The big bad here is Master and Law is either working undercover for the Marines or has his own plans in mind but I think its clear that he is not the final boss of the arc. Law will most likely smirk, say something snarky to Luffy, disappear with Smoker's heart and come back once everything's over or just about to explain what the hell was going on.
Law may be evil, but atleast he is not heartless.
Very clever
i feel like were gonna get more understanding in the next couple weeks or so as to what's going on
and damn tashigi's already playing the weak card again, I mean I didn't expect her to beat a damn shichibukai but it's pretty early on for this
Smokers crew seem to suck a lot, not a single DF user, no strength to even bother Law with more than bullets. They all seem to lack basic haki so they even need Law to tell them what happened with the bullets. Where is the rear adm. that follow vice admirals? Captain level seem to be below grandline strength. I wonder why even after 2 years such a promising and motivated character was reduced to nothing. For a whole crew to depend on one guy, the marines seem to only come good in numbers. Oda needs to make these marines veterans of NW (marines saying 'he is scary' when they have been in NW for years, is a bit disappointing) and drop the grandline marines that are amazed by everything from DF to superhuman strength.
In the NW pirates who have high bountries gather, but even the pirates are easily taken care of by brook.
We are at the enterance of NW but so far, everyone but the top dogs are fodder and as harmless as marines in GL.
Law's tattoo's supposed to be on his left hand, not his right.
So yeah I think it is ice (or are you saying that Law will now need to have this room operating 24/7 if he wants to contain this heart. So if lets say, right now he expands it again to fight Luffy the heart would had space again and could turn to smoke and his control over it would be gone.
It's already been proven that you don't need the room to make the cut appendages stay fine, as exampled by the samurai.
He probably has shrunk the room around the heart to keep it under his control as to make sure Smoker doesn't make it turn to smoke. He is dealing with a logia, so he probably is taking extra precautions because not everyone can just turn their heart into smoke.
Also, isn't it plausible that Law could make smaller rooms while using a larger one as well. Has it been stated that he can only use one at a time, to my knowledge, no.
The idea of ice around it is still plausible, however, it is too early to tell…
Law has the DEATH tattoo on both his hands
Hoo~ Great chapter.
I've a thought on the failure of Tashigi. I think her 'story' will mirror Zoro's in that she needs to find someone she wants to beat hard enough to actually access the next level of her swordsmanship. My idea? This person is Law. He not only beat her quite easily, but he also has injured her commanding officer - who she is bound to be close to due to how long they've been together. Perhaps this will be what she needs to make her stand up and break the boundaries of being a swordwoman. Sure, there's her aiming at Zoro, but he's gone easy on her in the past and outright avoided her instead of fighting. She needs someone whose put her down and made her feel worthless, someone who she is driven to defeat, no matter what.
Also, should Harpy be Monet or Mone? (Personally I prefer Monet, but not too bothered if it is Mone.) Just thought I'd ask.
Mone/t for nakama~
XD
And whats so wrong about wanting harpy to join the crew? I'm sure Sanji would love it lol.
Actually Ithe harpy is a grey area.
Sanji likes pretty ladies but his definition of beauty and sexy is narrow. The square sisters had great bodies= nice busts, small waists, and shapely legs, they just had odd hair style and a long nose, and so Sanji didn't react to them at all. Barely paid any attention at all.
Mermaids are hyped up by legend to be beautiful, men think that just being a mermaid mean beauty before they meet real mermaids (that was shown by the antics of teh Risky Bros, Sanji & Brook at party on Thriller Bark) and they are shocked to see old or ugly mermaids (Sanji's reaction to Kokoro).
No the other hand, going by legends say harpies are suppose to be hideous. She has a pretty face but is more bird-like than a mermaid is fish-like. She has no arms, feathered rear and those legs that end in bird feet.
I can see Usopp and Sanji's interactions=
Usopp= She's pretty!
Sanji= Very pretty face…. but....She's a harpy!
Usopp=You loved the mermaids
Sanji = of course they ARE mermaids! that is a harpy!

No, It's Oda's rest break. He deserves some off time now and then. here is an article that's recent saying how he rarely gets time off. I talked about how he takes a rest around every 6 weeks here , its father down on the page, post #438

Nothing from Law has demonstrated up until now suggest what you are talking about. "Boxing", when did Law ever do that?
I never said he simply punched a hole through Smoker, but it stands to reason that if Smoker has a a square hole in his chest, than all that tissue had to go somewhere.
Are you saying Law punched a square hole in him, took the heart out, teleported all the extra tissue somewhere and than encased the heart in a conveniently square block of ice?
How does that make any more sense than simply a swap attack that takes a rectangular chunk of flesh out of his chest?

Ofcourse. But simply taking som block of ice and putting the heart inside (we are on a snowy part of an island afterall) is much easier right?
My point. He was talking to me and my post like he is Oda himself. AS you stated as we know, we know too little. Rooms inside of rooms is something we dont know yet. So until than I am sticking with the ice theory plus organs and ice go nice together.
Luffy said, "It's you!" not "It's Law." And since Law was there when Kidd made that speech about meeting up in the new world, I think even Luffy would remember a rival.
I know, I was just trying to explain NANLIT's point to him.

No, but I am saying that he punched a square hole, just grabbed the heart and boxed it. The extra tissue aint there or anywhere since he is still logia and smoker…
But it is a bit over-analyzing anyway. Meaning we know little. I say he has it in an ice box and thats my opinion based on what we know. Of course it can be something else. Just dont throw it away like some piece of garbage and tell me that ain't it
If you understand what I am trying to say
Plus we are talking about a guy who swaps snowflakes with bullets. I think taking just heart after he creates a hole aint that much of a stretch
P.S. I do understand what you are saying though. Why there is a sqaure whole if he could just swap the heart with something else?
Answer I don't know maybe he has to cut it out first. Its like. He cant just take an arm of a person and swap it with a brench. He has to cut off that arm first.
If you understand what I am trying to say...? (he can't just swap the heart, he has to take it out first)

I suppose we'll have to wait and see, no point in arguing. The main reason I find it unlikely is because there is no reason to ice it, everything law ever cuts off stays alive regardless. Why suddenly encase the heart in ice?
Yo, good chapter.
Is it just me or does Law seem to have an odd obsession with hearts? XD
The MR translation made Law less evil than the translation from CCC.
I like "Weaklings don't get to pick their way of death" a lot better than "Weaklings are shit that need to die."

Because as we have seen with the samurai. Legs still run, arms still move, mouth still talk, so a heart of a logia can still turn to smoke and has a wast mobility. That's the reason I see for encasing it at least.
Damn this was badass. I loved the fight. I can't wait until the anime episode is finally out. It will be glorious to see it! And yes I know there is almost no chance of it but in case Luffy decides to fight Law I really really want to see Nico Robin step in and dominate Law. She has been denied the chance to shine for too long and it's about time they let her take down someone major. Combined this with her DF powers who are perfect for this and it would be so great

I see your point. I guess we'll find out in another chapter or two since there should be an explanation forthcoming.

Sorry to snap at you :) there had been complainers already so ….
and I don't think its Goldenweek, someone earlier said its at end of April. But I don't know so I totally understand thinking its now
Never had an issue with Oda taking breaks. The guy more than deserves it.
The heart is beating so there can't be solid ice around something that is moving, when law cuts something, it isn't cut as in the real world, it doesn't need to be enclosed in anything to not bleed out. Smoker is feeling weaker although it normally doesn't weaken you to have body parts moved by Law. So this enclosed box must either be restricting heart movements or this technique is different from the normal sword cut.
He always cuts fine even with his hand as seen by the entrance of the hole being square, but he still cut through smokers cape as if it was projectile being thrown through it(see the particles around the heart).
So I think blue must be right, he enclosed the heart and then launched it out.
edit:
Given that kizaru was cut in half with a real cut, and still managed to come together, even if law cut smoker, smoker would come back together. So there is no way to cut out smokers heart even with a cut in room, he just needs to put himself together. So it makes sense to enclose the heart in DF disabling room.
It makes sense of why smoker felt weaker, it wasn't because his heart was being restrained, but he realized his heart was in laws hand and could be harmed, if we assume law has knowledge of haki, which he does.
I still don't see how people think Law is Broken. Smoker already almost got him. He wouldn't have reacted quick enough if that were a Jet Pistol instead of a Jutte trying to pierce his face. Luffy dodges any slash and punches Law in the face faster than he can swap.
I doubt that Luffy and Sanji's photos will be used for their bounties. I don't think Oda will ever change Luffy's pic and in-universe-wise it would make no sense to go from a perfectly fine picture of his face to the side of his head. You can only see the back of Sanji's head on his, so it would make no sense at all.
Also, Tashigi is really annoying.
Law's got a very powerful ability but it still has a huge flaw. Step out of circle and you are immune to him. However, he's really compensated for that weakness by increasing the size of the room. Also, if you can manage to stop his hand gestures, he may not be able to continue using his ability.
I'm kinda sad. We have to wait at least two weeks to see the reactions to the body swap.
Law stole Smoker's heart…
I can see some interesting Yaoi fanfic coming soon...
has anyone noticed it? on page 13 when the harpy shows the newspaper with photos of the strawhat pirates, that one of luffy has has 3 photos under his .the first one of garp second of dragon and the third …..... who's that woman ?
his mother????
People have got to stop overanalyzing Haki.
Everybody was perfectly able to dodge attacks without Haki and having CoC does not mean you will see everything coming ever. Jesus.
This. So much this. Thank you.

Big Mom ofcourse.
No, actually it's Ace.

I thought the person was Ace or maybe Hancock. I cannot see well.
Seeing as Law could trade places with a piece of wood to avoid Smoker's jutte I imagine she won't do any better than she did with Moria.
I think that depends largely on how Law is using his powers. It's entirely possible that just like with Robin's DF he doesn't actually need any gestures to activate his DF and does it largely for coolness factor or something. However if he does require his fingers or any arms movments at all then Robin could crush him potentially.
As for Moria I think she actually could have gotten him if she knew the extents of his powers and the plot didn't require her to stand still and looked shockved for five minutes
oh yeah ,did not see it because of the lower quality of mangahere, sigh, i miss mangastream
That heart technique seems to be a signature of Law. That's probably why his pirate crew are called the 'heart' pirates. Seriously, luffy better knock law down a peg or two. Luffy had smoker saved once and I doubt he would hesitate about doing it again. Smoker is to Luffy's as Garp was to Gol D Roger. Smoker is Luffy's longest running marine rival and I think he relishes being chased by such a formidable pursuer. I'm sure luffy would agree, evading capture by marines comes with the territory of being a pirate.

Even if he doesn't need his fingers she could crush him with clutch rather easily given that her line of sight to him is greater than size of his room.
In fact, she could be out of sight completely and sprout series of eyes towards the target until she can clutch them while remaining unseen. But Oda would never use her that way I imagine, she'd be far too effective against anyone who isn't a logia.
You are correct with Moria, all she had to do was clutch doppelman and Moria at the same time, but than she'd beat him single-handedly, and story wouldn't allow that.
hehe I've noticed that someone mentioned that only half of Usopp's face is shown and that he's still refered to as Sogeking by the newspaper…but I also noticed that no one else pointed out a possible reaction to that picture... his dad's.
Shanks is sure to read the newspaper since Luffy is in it. After so many years together, Shanks knows Yasopp's profile and should know (given how Yasopp liked to talk about his son whent hey were in Fushia Village) that Usopp has a long nose. the top half os Usopp's face is covered but not the lower half. I can see Shanks and others seeing the resemblance between Usopp and Yasopp and figuring out that Yasopp's son is Sogeking, the king of Shoarpshooters(Snipers - depending on translation- did the Deep Blue clear that up?)
That brings to mind...would any of Yasopp's enemies realize the resembleance from just the lower face and long lose? I do not think most would ...I mean look at the marines, several Vice-Admirals had their ships surround the ruined bridge wehn sogeking had taken off his mask and Luffy screamed out "Usopp!" but his face and name still didn't appear on a bounty.
Actually Ithe harpy is a grey area.

I think that there are different stories of harpies like being very seductive and beautiful too, but turning more monster like when they are about to eat guys. Also you can probably have sex with a harpie, but not a mermaid. How that is relevant to the story I don't know, but I am very happy with my imaginations about it.
Law's got a very powerful ability but it still has a huge flaw. Step out of circle and you are immune to him. However, he's really compensated for that weakness by increasing the size of the room. Also, if you can manage to stop his hand gestures, he may not be able to continue using his ability.

People outside the circle seem to still be affected though, the samurai's body parts were scattered across the island. How you can put yourself back together seems to depend entirely on Law himself.
Perhaps Smoker feels weaker because his heart is now exposed to the unforgiving cold?
So the demon guards are there but where is Sadi-chan?
