Hell Yes!!!!!!!!!
-
Omfg Hell Yeah!
-
Awesome. I love how it still uses the old graphic style (only with slightly taller characters it seems).
It better get a North American release.
-
Can anyone tell me if this is in anyway related to this?
-
URRRRR YEAHHHHHHH!!!!
Maybe they'll release Mother 1+2 in the US as well. They better.
SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!!!

The cancelled Nintendo 64 Mother 3 (by the way, wasn't it gonna be for the 64 Disk Drive at first, but then got switched to regular N64 before being scrapped)? I think I read somewhere that they aren't going to use the story from it or anything, unfortunately. But they did keep the same logo, so I dunno.
But even if they aren't using the same stuff from the 64 version, at least a new Mother 3 is better than none I guess.
-
I dunno, I think I recognize some of the characters in these screenshots.
-

That would be cool then.
The thing I read was from: http://starmen.net/mother3/factsheet/
III. Mother 3 for GBA will have a different story than the cancelled N64 Mother 3.
- A couple of Japanese sites - including Mother All-Stars Party - posted in July of 2004 that Itoi was about 60% done with the new story.
- In an interview on his site, Itoi mentions that he's taking a very different attitude toward the new Mother 3.
So maybe the same characters will be in it, but this "different attitude" Itoi is taking is why they say it's story is different.
-
Wow!
Include me on the list of those who want this game to come to the US.
-
Fuck Yes. Fuck Yes. You Guys Have No Clue How Long I've Been Waiting For This.
-
I think I need to take up Religion. It seems there is a god after all, and his name is Itoi.
Screw hoping it comes to america. I'm importing it to make damn sure I play it.

Eh, I'll end up importing it if it doesn't…but still, I don't know Japanese, so it would take away a lot of the enjoyment (since I don't play it for the battle system or anything). Although maybe somebody would eventually translate a rom or something.
Even though I plan on taking Japanese class next semester (haven't been able to get in it this semester or last semester - it's always full), I doubt that would give me any ability to read the game or especially to understand the jokes (which is important to me).
-
SWEET. I can't wait for this to finally come out. It shall be a Holy Day indeed.
-
Oh man…I have been waiting for this since the day Earthbound 64 was cancelled 0-0
-
I've been waiting for this since I first played EarthBound.
And EarthBound was my first RPG.
-
Ah, sweet rapture. It's finally coming out! Yes!

Since I'm a third year student of japanese, and I'll be just about in my fourth around the time I get Mother 3, I plan on doing a translation of it. If it does come out in america, then cool, I'll have two versions to play.
-
I'm not going to import it, because the text was like 75% of what I enjoyed about Earhtbound.
-
We should start a petition to bring it to the US! :D
-
Hooooly fuck. That looks awesome. Thanks for the screens, Cap'n.
I think it would be in Nintendo of America's best interest to port III; otherwise, the crazy fanboys might actually try bombing 'em. x.x
/me is one of those fanboys

And Mother 1+2 along with it..
Didn't the folks at Starmen.net do one for Mother 1+2 and Miyamoto actually made a comment somewhere about it? Ah hell, I don't remember. But man.. this is a great time. Earthbound was my first RPG as well. It sucks that I don't know what happened to my old SNES copy of it.. that's why I was so happy when Mother 1+2 was announced, but then it just never came out here. I'd give my left foot to play 1+2 on the GBA.
Hopefully, if Mother 3 does come out here, they'll use Mother 1+2 to hype it up. I mean, they brought Fire Emblem over mostly 'cause of Marth and Roy in Smash Brothers, right? Need to show the kids where Ness came from, too.

Mother 2, the game with Ness, DID come to the US.

Yeah, but some people missed out back then I'm sure. Lots of people didn't play FF2/4 until the recent GBA remake.
Also, the two GBA Castlevania games were recently re-released in one game (probably because of demand thanks to Dawn of Sorrow for DS). So maybe releasing Mother 1+2 before or with Mother 3 would be good.
-
Yeah, Earthbound isn't actually available as much as it used to be. A rerelease would give a bunch of people a chance to play it who couldn't exactly track doing an old SNES cartridge of it. That's what I'm saying.
-
Alright! Mother 3 :)

Screenshots, round two.
-
Hardcore Mother fansite, Starman.net managed to translated the Mother 3 site into English.
http://starmen.net/mother3/mother3world/
And when you preorder the game in Japan beginning March 1, you get the Deluxe Box, which comes with the game, a Mother 3 Micro (http://cache.kotaku.com/gaming/mothergameboymicro.jpg)), and a Franklin Badge.
The Deluxe box runs for 18,000 yen or $165.
No word on it coming to the US, though. Why must they taunt us so?
-
Anyone know why it`s called "Mother?'
I like the title "Earthbound" a bit better. -
Mother is the Japanese name for the series.
Earthbound is the name given to Mother 2 for the western release.
-

I like the title "Earthbound" a bit better.I think I read somewhere that the reason its called "Mother" is because Itoi wanted to go against the standard "father-son" relationship that you often find in video games. This might not be exactly true, however.

-
Bah lucky! I wish I could get the ringtone on mine,,,cant seem to get it to work X_X
-
It's hard to believe that Earthbound (snes) is underrated.
-
What platfrom is this being released on? I love Earthbound, but I'm surprised to see the sequel has the same graphics like…10 years later.

The game is for GBA.
I'm glad they used the old graphics style.
