…That's it?
This arc could've been done much better.
…That's it?
This arc could've been done much better.
as a standalone chapter, i loved it. the jokes, the art, the action etc continues to please me.
but yeah, the arc as a whole has been lacking. it needed so much more padding and focus on everyone's battles.
I was really psyched to see everyone in action, too
So disappointing
Man I love Beelzebub but this ending sucks hard.
This was terrible. I'm pretty sure I've never said that about Beelzebub to this point, but it's deserving today. It seems to me like that author overreacted and panicked to a little bad feedback. Hopefully it was a learning process for him and it won't happen again.
It wasn't a bad arc on itself, what was shown was good, but there were a lot of promises that he didn't came through.
I hope that at the very least he makes fun of himself and this situation.
Isn't that just a color spread from a previous chapter? I know I have seen it before.
This is the color spread from last chapter:
!
I don't remember this one, though it seems sort of familiar. I think it's new. I guess it was specially drawn for Saikyo Jump as a poster.
Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It was chapter 104's Colorspread with an added border: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/4006/beelzebub_ch104_by_red-hawk-scans/3
this arc was terrible I didn't get to see all the fights
I hope the next arc is just standalone gags those are the best
wtf, you guys.

If you hype something up at least try to deliver on it, even if the gags are the best part about Beel it doesn't give him the excuse to screw his battlearcs up.
"Just Die Already Kick!" Awesome.
"But Enma cried anyway. And the school burned down." Also Awesome.
"Well you guys can have your school back, I'm feeling generous." Tojo weeps. Love it.
Aside from those nice moments, this was a very rushed and unsatisfying conclusion to what could've been a great arc. I don't _dislike_ this entire arc as a whole, and I also think this chapter would've been perfectly fine on its own.
However as the rest of you have said, Tamura's lack of focus on the other members of Oga's party and refusal to show the other villains, was really unsatisfying. I still greatly enjoy the series, and I hope Tamura picks himself back up, because he really dropped the ball on this one and it's rather frustrating.
Til next time and let's hope this is just a bump in the road. A pretty steep bump.
Just a quick thing i've been mulling over in my mind the past week or so.
I had a look through this arc and have been thinking about two points. Predictability and freshness of plot.
Now you might be thinking 'why?' when most of it was fine, and kept us all entertained, but most notably or more so do i want to direct these two aspects of story telling in the final chapters of the arc. You see if we got what we wanted…. what would have happened? We would have had a typical dbz training arc, followed by a hard fight for all with the winning side being the good guys, in which each character would have a chance to elaborate on their improvements.... before ending it with a new finishing move. Only to have the end villain make some smug remark about another future rival that stands far above himself in terms of strength.......theeeeeeeeeeeeeen as you guessed it would follow the standard cycle of training, fight, showcase of strengths and next arc set-up.
Now this might seem like an easy thing to do for some series, but you have to consider the necessity of doing so, and the knock on effects it might have on the next arcs that will follow, which as you can guess could be a defining moment at this point in time for Tamura/series whether he will maintain enough people/ratings to see the series through or have it canned by jump. After all what do we gain from this other than transferring it into every other famous fight arc?
I personally feel that by delivering all the juicy build-ups in a few short chapters it will result in putting limitations on the manga, or at least make it more predictable. I guess you could argue that they still have several other possible enemies ahead that will be even stronger than Lord Ens army, and that the entire Ishiyama crew could carry on training arc after training arc.....but where's the fun in that? it kind of makes the weekly chapters/arcs too similar to one another, or at least will make the manga burn itself out before we hit the final arc.
I guess what im trying to point out is that despite this arc not revealing the full extent of everyone's strengths and capabilities, it has left a good deal of undeniably interesting conclusions for a later period where it could be used a lot more efficiently. Or at least be used to better effect (keep readers). This point also ensures Tamaru has stuff to work with for the next arc, as well as continue to real in the fans who want to see the extent of Ishiyamas delinquents training. And by doing so he can throw out yet more bait between now and then which will most likely continue the cycle of interest.
This will be most notable when we see the aftermath of Oga finally becoming Beels father to this extent, and the backlash of defeating En. Or at least showing how capable he and Beel are together. We might even begin to see more changes in Beels lightning powers after maturing so much after using super milk time. We know En could destroy entire cities with one tantrum (not even being properly directed). It might not be long till Baby Beel attains similar powers of destruction. From here on out though we might get less of Beels family as most would expect to see dominate the future, and begin to see every other faction of the demon world. Including the other interesting people on planet earth that might be tied to the family, factions or just remnants of the old war as seen with Aoi's contractor. This would be a good opportunity for the others to showcase the training and maybe even make contracts of their own. Or maybe just show how they will be used in the series.
When i say 'show', im referring to what role they will have from here on out. Will they slowly go the shitty route of being horribly overshadowed by everyone as they have till now, or will they maintain a group that will see it out till the end, and maintain some kind of worthy force that will be useful and interesting. After all none of us want to see this go the way of yamcha or tenten etc.
Then again we still haven't truly seen how many ways you can attain power in this series. I believe that magic has yet to be truly unveiled in a fighting scenario, or to what degree it can be used both in the physical and mental sides of the future arcs. The chances are it is a very hard/mentally challenging art that would only be open to a few people that could wield it to any level worthy of mentioning. Himekawa and possibly one of the Horseman are likely candidates if made available. But that is only when applied to demonic powers seen with the flames that burnt hildas memories and the various usage that Quetzalcoatl employed. I think at this point its clear that there are a handful of ways of gaining power, but even more ways of actually applying it physically.
Point: By milking the last arcs finale, he has secured the second arcs intro.
I'd expect us to have a rough idea of the next arcs direction in the up and coming chapters. That is if we aren't going to have some kind of filler or resting period to iron out a hand full of minor details. As well as confirmation of the teams status. Lets just pray we don't get some shitty 'Z fighter' title with it. I don't think i can cover much else at this point without speculating too heavily, or get into the routine of building theories on the things that although are likely… haven't been confirmed. e.g. the various love interests.
Nice chapter. Nothing great, though. I liked the Big Mom joke.
I felt like I just read a chapter of a romcom series. And that Lady Gaga show, haha. Still a funny chapter.
Well, Beel is back to its gag format, though I'm not exactly complaining. This chapter is hillarious, but Big Mom definitely takes the cake.
Lol Big Mom and a Lady Gaga joke. Good stuff. Loved the last panel.
loved the chapter, I hope beelzebub stays more gag than battle
loved the one piece reference
Lol, OP reference. Good chapter really, Oga running away at the end was pretty funny.
Now this is a chapter worthy of Beelzebub.
lovely OP reference. nice chap.
Beelze with his eyes closed is adorable >_<
loved the chapter, I hope beelzebub stays more gag than battle
This for me aswell really
damn great and funny chapter
oh, I like this Hilda. I like it a lot~~
Hilda is just so damn cute. Anyone else and i'd say no!…but seeing her turn from a stern dedicated maid to a devoted innocent wife has sucked me in. Ugh why can't she be both damnit!?
Also that front cover looks sweet.
I guess the chapters just kind of sweet overall. Especially after having such an intense fighting arc just before this.
Lol, Oga obviously has commitment issues. Tsk, tsk…
and "Wait right there, my stupid family" was a great line~
Nice chapter, there have been funnier ones but this was straight gag and a nice breather chapter.
I'm going to laugh my ass off if by the time Hilda recovers her memories she still knows all she did during her amnesia.
Sorry, Aoi, but you're out.
The New Year special from the latest issue of Saikyo Jump was scanlated by RH!

PedoKappa ftw!!1
Holy shit how many reference's do they want? lol
The Goku reference had me rolling.
also, "give me the power to buy a PS3!!"
Really nice chapter. It was fun having Hilda interact with Oga's family again. I've missed that.
Dat One Piece reference. And Lady Gaga, too? XD
Plus, there were some moments that were flat-out adorable.
Call me a wuss but, I tought the "What is it about me that you don't like?" was heartbreaking.
I picture myself in a situation where a girl asks me this, or in Oga's shoes, and I simply wouldn't know what to say or do.
Amazing chapter. Actually, more like good chapter with perfect housewife Hilda.
Chapter is out , On Red Hawk Scans

I love Furuichi so freakin' much.
This somewhat makes up for the abrupt end of the last arc. "You ruined the climax!"
Also, Furuichi, never stop being a little bitch.
realy funny chapter…. lol at all the gazin' and walkin' stuff
Beelzebub is back.
great chapter, lol furchi ran away like a bitch again
love how she still hates him even with no memories
and good to see there poking fun of the fact the ending was ridiculous
Marvel vs Capcom 3 reference? yes please. oh god I want a beelzebub fighting game so badly all of a sudden.
Furuichi stole this chapter. Always funny.
Lol, and I just laughed at the charcaters commenting on how everyone's pissed off at the arc ending without the arriving characters doing anything in the end. Well, what's done is done. At least the author recognizes just how anti-climatic it was and looks like he'll be working on making the left out characters do a big shwoing in the next arc.
Haha, ah the comedy is always good. Wife=Wine? wtf? Furuichi the one to runaway, brilliant.

That's always been the point of Beelzebub. Almost every fight is anti-climactic, it's what makes it such a great manga. It's hilarious.

Hmm….? Togashi can throw some light humor on it now but the build up, expectations, and intensity just fell flat at the end of that arc, and it's all just a joke now but back then it was merely disappointing. I wouldn't say the anti-climatic ending to that specific arc is what helps makes this manga great, but the anti-climatic ending to fights has worked in the past. Something about this arc was different though. Maybe because it felt more battle centered.
I don't know why I'm talking like the past arc was years ago...but yeah.
"Furuichi Takayuki ran like a bitch"
oh god, my sides.
LOL @ Keep your head up Furuichi in the end.
This chapter made me laugh like an idiot.
Beelzebub in full blown comedy mode equals some of the best moments you can have in nowadays manga.
Oh, and the special was also hilarious.
Furuichi is forever the series' personal buttmonkey.
