General 'Four Emperors' Discussion

The hat is Uranus
-
note, that Shanks had Roger's hat long before the made it to Raftel. The hat is probably not THAT much important and might not be connected to One Piece in any way, apart from being headgear of the one who had found it and the one who will in the future.
Ah, yes, correct. Well, in any case, Roger must have seen Shanks have similarities with himself and gave the hat to him. Having the hat of course can symbolize that Shanks was willing to do his best to take on Roger's will, but abandoned that effort when he met Luffy.
-
you know, i have this one thought
who is mihawk actually and what's his connection with shank..? he had no nakama etc..
wouldn't it be good if mihawk being shank's 1st mate, i mean like zoro to luffy?? ben beckman wouldn't be mad about this i think lol.. -
If Mihawk had been in Shank's crew and then defected, I don't think that Shanks would want anything to do with Mihawk, much less spar with him on occasions.
-
I was hoping to have learned more about Kaidou by now…he is a curious character I can't help but feel like he will be bada**
-
So far im liking Big Mam, the fact that she comes off as a bullish asshole will no doubt be offset by her ridiculous battle strenght.
-
so we have..
one semi-giant character with ability to destruct all things (White Beard)
one normal figure man with unknown ability with an europe model (?) sword and posses haki (Red Hair)
one giant woman that eats people (Big Mom)
then kaidou should be a dwarf. hows that sound for you? hahaa.. impossible. -
one normal figure man with unknown ability with an europe model (?) sword and posses haki (Red Hair)
We know Shanks isn't an ability user; we've seen him swim several times. Unless he got one in the last 2 years, it's a safe bet he's the non-ability user of the four.
And I seriously doubt Kaidou is a dwarf. The dude sliced Moria's chin off and just about split his neck open, vertically. I'm sure he's a decently-sized guy.

Has that been confirmed or is that just wild speculation?

Shanks as part of Roger's crew probably doesnt care much about One Piece or becoming Pirate King. He's been there and done that. All the views we've seen of him and his crew have shown him basically chillin, and like WB I think he simply just enjoys life and hangs around. Kaidou and BM are presumably the sort who want to find One Piece but are not capable (Kaidou was pwned by Shanks just before the Marineford battle).
Now you add BB to the mix and suddenly the 'power balance' in the New World looks precarious. Suddenly you have 3 powerful crews actively after One Piece and only 1 powerful crew who has the capability to keep them in check. Say what you will, the Marines are as scared of Shanks as they were of WB, if not more. On the face of it, the fact that Shanks and crew can match WB's power without DF users, massive armada's and crazy allies should make them an even more formidable enemy. Shanks crew is also at their peak in terms of age and skill unlike WB who had faded with age (and his commanders had seemingly lost fighting practice). Add to this mix the fact that Shanks probably knows about One Piece's contents and location and he is without doubt the PK in all but name right now. He just doesnt want all the hype…
It may be that like Rayleigh, he has (having knowledge of One Piece's contents) come to the conclusion that it isnt worth fighting over. Heck he may even have taken on the task of preventing One Piece and its incendiary truths from ending up in the wrong hands. Shanks may be the only thing standing between the world and complete chaos, especially if someone like BB gets their hands on the knowledge of the Ancient Weapons
Why did Gold Roger disassemble his crew and gave up to WG after going to Raftel and knowing the true history ??!!
Why did Rayleigh gave up being a pirate ??!!
Why did Buggy who doesn't waste a chance to get treasures didn't try to get one piece although he knows what it is ??!!I think it's because they knew something that will affect the world but they couldn't do it, and that's why Roger made every pirate in the world to start searching for "his treasure" so that the chosen one will find it and will know every thing they knew and will do something they couldn't do.
So Shanks not going after one piece doesn't mean it isn't worth it, it means that there is something even Shanks and the previous PK crew couldn't do it.
and you can see the look in Rayleigh's face when he told Robin that they knew the true history .

Roger had that incurable disease and he was going to die anyways. He didn't want to take his crew down with him in his infamy, so he disbanded the crew and turned himself in to allow them to have a 'clean slate'. Why did he reveal One Piece? That's still a mystery.
-
Has that been confirmed or is that just wild speculation?
Wild speculation… but really, considering he allegedly killed the rest of Moria's crew, I doubt he would have any qualms about butchering Moria's face, too. We've seen Moria as a kid and and as a Young Adult, and he looked very different from how he does now. I wouldn't be surprised if Hogback had to do some major surgery on Moria after his Kaidou debacle.

He just got fat…

Not really. He probably just wanted to do something internationally outrageous (starting the new era of piracy and dreams) before kicking the bucket. It's not like One Piece would hold any value to him in death.

Guessing that 'Kaidou' is his nickname/epithet/title.Wonder what Kaidou is supposed to mean anyway…

It's most possibly just a name, but I guess he has an epithet too, which we will know when oda decides to introduce him.

I never thought about that. If it is his actual name, he would be the only Emperor with his name being the primary one used to id him.

Well, the TV Tropes One Piece character page says that his name could be translated as "Church" or "Temple". TV Tropes is not a credible source, though.

Yeah, thats what I meant ,I'd be weird if he was referred to by his surname.Like when people are being formal to pirates, they call them by their nicknames.Like when Kid was listing all the Yonkou 'Whitebeard;Red-Haired;Kaidou;Big Mom.
We only learned casually by Papuagg Big Moms real name.So im sure that 'Kaidou' is a nickname.

Now, to get back on-topic, more speculation about Kaido's nature. If his name indeed does mean "Church", does this mean that he will be some sort of preacher or cult leader (or both)? Possibly a Knight Templar? Or maybe a priest with a split personality like early concept Moriah?

I could easily see Kaidou being a cult-leader, and having a crew that worships him as a god. In fact, Kaidou may just simply be the title for the leader of their group, with the actual person changing (like "Pope") and the current one is just ridiculously strong and hates the World Government enough to establish his own pseudo-theocracy in the New World.
Knight Templar however I don't really see. We already have enough of that in the World Government, and it doesn't seem right for the sort of person who hates injustice so much that they become tyrannical to become a Yonkou chilling in the New World.
-
Perhaps Kaido has a technological theme considering his cyborg henchemen drake encountered, and that he could be frankys father or something wild like that. Or Vegapunks..ooo
-
I'd like to think he has more to do with Vegapunk than he does with Franky. I say that not only because I really wanna see more of Vegapunk, but the island that Kaidou's henchman was protecting was somewhat like Vegapunks hometown, yes, they're both winter islands, but just think on it for a bit.

Moriah seems to have met Hogback long after he lost his crew. He already had Perona and Absalom by the time they met up with Hogback. I do like that idea of Kaido having been the one to scar him, though.
-
If Kaidou does mean Church I wonder if he has any ties to Kuma.
-
Probably not, but I like the idea of using the early Moria concept for Kaido. Im still sure the original four emperors had something to do with the four beasts thing. The red phoenix (Red Hair Shanks), the white tiger (Whitebeard), the azure dragon, and the black tortoise. Not sure which ones would be Kaido and Big Mom.

T](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Symbols_(Chinese_constellation))he come up a lot in anime. They were the four saints beasts in Yu Yu Hakusho, those mega level digimon from Season 2 and 3. They each represent a direction, too. Still not sure if the Yonkou are supposed to something to do with them, though.
-

Plz don't let Kaidou be somekind of religious parody.

Well, Blackbeard could easily be the black tortoise. His M.O. is cunning and slow.. and black. Meaning the white tiger can be someone else. Assuming this isn't all really as farfetched as it sounds.
-
iunno man, the Yonkou as we know it don't really seem to fit that theme…
-
I want to know what happened between Shanks and Kaidou. I don't belive that Shanks could have defeated one of the four emperors that quickly and without ANY injuries. It's also possible that Kaidou has a respective attitude towards Shanks which means he wouldn't be COMPLETELY evil if at all.
The other thing about his is that he must be somehow special since Oda decided to introduce him the last. -
Kaidou just wanted to ambush Whitebeard while he was weak and fighting the marines. He had no intentions of having a full-on battle with any of the other Yonkou, and since Shanks confronted him, he decided to call it a day and went home lol
-
Spoiler for chapter 652:
! Since Pekom has the Turtle fruit, maybe this was Oda's "inspiration" (Blanking on the word I'd actually like to use xD): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mock_Turtle?
! It would fit with the rest of the Alice in Wonderland connections, but I'm not sure since this is half turtle and half-cow, but the main idea is the same, as in half-turtle and half-mammal. -

Well, he's not a regular one, but yeah, we kinda got another good taste onf the Yonkou.
Someone else here said of a possible theme for her crew of important figures having ranks of nobility. While Pekoms is Mister/Sir and Tamago is Baron which are important but fairly low on the totem pole,I guess if Bobbin or someone else has a title like Duke or Count (or Earl), we may get a hint of them being higher-up. Be intresting to see.

kaidou tried to confront whitebeard before he fought the marines not after when he was weak, and they said shanks and him got in a conflict, though I doubt they did much but argue since shanks was in top shape but it's entirely possible that they did, one should not assume they know what happened off screen unless extremely obvious, and this I think is one of the situations where a whole bunch of different stuff could have gone down, to much assuming not enough to go off of, my guess is they argued and called it off but I could easily be a 100% wrong
