Maybe Kuro won't be as big as a boss as Buggy, Kreig, or Arlong.
One Piece: Musou/Pirate Warriors - PS3
-
-
Don't even think I've seen that arc there in any of the screenshots
-
so krieg's confirmed. It does seem strange to not include kuro. Then again they don't have to show everything before it's released
-
i just hope they make the english version of it. no matter whether it is NA or EU exclusive, we can just always buy them online anyway. so imo what matters most is whether they are going to make an english version of it or not. its better if its available in local stores in both NA and EU (and AU/NZ as well) tho.
-
Hopefully the outfits are changable and the characters will actually wear their accurate outfits in the place of the series during these arcs, with them changing in the gameplay and cutscenes optionally.
-
Seriously doubt it. We may get one or two alt clothes. But having different for each arc is asking waaaay too much. Would rather just see one or two different clothes then more focus going towards playable chars.
Or just have all these alt clothes as DLC or something.
-

At best they'll have a alt and even thats not really likely till the sequal. A pallet swap is possible. But when they have a huge cast to build from scratch, their priority should NOT be in making 8 costumes for Nami… and its not going to be.
DLC is possible because that they can monetize and suddenly that effort has a point to it.
-
I'd just really would like to see their arc-canon outfits. That's simple enough as all the guys were pretty much the same outfits until Skypiea, but Nami blew through outfits every single arc, sometimes several in an arc. I'd still hope we at least get her classic white, blue and orange tho along with all the Strawhats introductory outfits. Then again you're right with the DLC statement, they're probably going to hit that hard.
I know FotNS had original outfits for the game, but then they offered the canon outfits via DLC. I hope they at least have those classic outfits for free for OP, but yeah… doubtful.

theres 8 weeks left so 8 more scans. one of them might have him

they waited like 6 years before giving us an HD OP game. i think new clothes every arc is doable. but ya ur right more playable characters more important.

Sure its DOABLE. But, would you rather have Zoro in a white shirt… or be able to play Franky?
Priorities. I'd rather they invest every minute of their time into making as many characters and levels as possible, and have all of them play as well and distinctly as possible.
Costume aren't even secondary in the priority list, they're tertiary. Thats nonsense they can worry about after the game is done as a bonus.
so krieg's confirmed. It does seem strange to not include kuro.
Kuro brings very little to the table that CP9 won't do better, in terms of move sets, and Syrup Village isn't the most interesting or memorable of set pieces. Lucchi and Kaku are much more likely. Sure, completism makes us want a character from an early arc, and the fact that he's in a character joining arc makes him likely, but, if anyone needs to be skipped for development time reasons, he's a reasonable choice. He can always be in the sequel.
This game is not going to have every character ever. It's just not. We'll be lucky if it has 15 playables between all the strawhats, likely Ace, and an assortment of enemies. There might be a whole mess of distinct NPCs, but that isnt the same as playable.
(Anyone who for even a second thinks all of Arlong's minions, the Skypiea priests, members of CP9 will be there… no. Not happening.)
The sequel will be the game that bumps the roster to a more respectable ammount. And if it does well (and it surely will) by the third game the cast will be pretty massive.
-
It'll do well. Obviously. I remember seeing some list recently that said this was the most wanted PS3 exclusive game for 2012 in Japan.
And yeah I'm assuming now that we wont see Mr. 3, Foxy or Kuro in the game. Actually come to think of it we probably should have seen Smoker by now too… maybe in the 2nd one I suppose.
I wonder what the kill 1000 quote will be in this one. It's always hilarious. "I am a true pirate of the Grand Line!' seems likely

I think smoker will be in it. It's not like kuro who only appears once he appears all the time. Mr. 3 maybe but probably not and foxy not at all

Mr. 3, on merit of being in Impel Down and the war, and having a very unique move set, actually has a better chance than some. The entire ID crew does really, since they can be used more than once. Yes, they already announced Chopper who is ahead of him storywise, but they're tiering the villain reveals a bit since there won't be as many.
(Not that story mode matters. That'll be the main draw, but there will likely be random challenge mode that just mixes and matches as they see fit with no logic behind it in order to provide another hundred more levels.)
Like I've said over and over, the only ones we should really hope for this time around as playable are the Strawhats. Anyone after them is gravy. (For instance, we know Kuma and the admirals are in… but I wouldn't count on being able to control them at all.) Crocodile is a lock to be in the game, but playable? Who knows?
I'd be really surprised if Mr. 2 and Hancock don't make it in some form tho.
-
Can someone translate what the line under the "Luffy calls in Zoro" picture says?
-
I think Ace also has a good shot at being playable and blackbeard, Lucci, and eneru are also definates for bosses however i don't expect any other sky island characters or Cp9 except maybe kaku

Well there's plenty who should be in. But considering Mr. 2 and Mr. 3 (or even Moriah) never even made it into the Gigant Battle games as playable I doubt they would be in this one.
And yeah. They can add whoever they want as long as we get the whole crew. I could possibly excuse Brook since it's pre-TS and his moveset (although UC managed fine) but still. He's been in the crew what? 3? 4? years now.
-
Aren't the bosses generally playable as well in the Koei games?
-
Aren't the bosses generally playable as well in the Koei games?
It varies. Most unique designed characters are playable, however its pretty common for named characters to just be there, with a unique look and abilities, just as a tease. (Often the follow up game will have them playable.)
Having a unique character design with two or three moves as an enemy… isn't the same as having a unique character design with 30 moves and a balanced playstyle.

it is official there will be multiplayer and psn support

Well since I'm importing the game am I even able to use the PSN support? Or do I need a Japanese account for my German PS3?

Why don't you just wait for the PAL release?
-
Now that I started imagining how epic the boss battles are gonna be, I have to say that a Musou style game suits One Piece more than a UNS fighting style games. Just try and imagine how epic Lucci will be in this game. Jumping around and raining Rankyakus all over the place.
Places like Arabasta and Skypia, if done right, are gonna look magnificent, especially with the graphics this game has, just imagining make me drool. The way I'm imagining this game is to be similar to the Unlimited Cruise series, only better in every regard.
I will be honest, when I heard that Omega-Force is doing the game, I felt sad, because the way they handled the Gundam series and the Hokuto series wasn't what One Piece deserved. Now, after seeing the trailers and the scans, I have to say that my hopes are soaring in the sky.
Like I said, just imaging the scenery in One Piece (Arabasta, Skypia, Sabaody, Fishman Island) rendered using Kaizoku Musou's engine makes me drool, and the multiplayer option is the icing on the cake. This game, if done right, can be the best anime based game we have seen yet. I hope that One Piece fans won't get disappointed with this game.
-
Oh, fans are going to be INCREDIBLY disappointed in this game. Because they have all sorts of crazy expectations that this game is NOT going to live up to.
-
Well, we already saw what the game is capable of graphics-wise and gameplay-wise, and we already know that the game will at least cover the story of the first part of the series, so it's really hard not expect amazing things from the game.
-
I don't have all that high expectations for this. It looks fun, but I'm more into the exploring and collecting of the Unlimited Cruise games.
-
I want the Treasure Box and I doubt it will come with the PAL release …
-
Its been finally confirmed here in Spain. Namco Bandai has announced it to the popular spanish site "Ramen Para Dos". You know it ;) , One Piece kaizoku Musou can be expected to hit the spanish shelves a few months after it comes out in Japan…
-
@RobbyBevard:

Not me. Don't get me wrong, I want it, but I sure as hell ain't slappin' down the premium price to import it and if we do get a US release I'm definitely not plopping down $60 on it. I'll wait a few months and see what happens. Most big titles don't stay high in price for long, and this is a niche koei title to top it off. The FotNS game hit $10 within like half a year of its release, it could be had for $20 not long after said release.
I know OP fans are a passionate bunch and want to support the series, but as a cheapassgamer I can't recommend paying $60 for this, or even $40. I'd say $30 is the sweet spot for most people.
-
I would not even buy it for $25. I'll give it 15.

After seeing the games they want more of (Raging Blast and UNS… Seriously?) posted in this thread, I'd take opinions on this from elsewhere. Just saiyan.

I want to laugh at you, but I'd be laughing at myself from 5 years ago.
These games are NOT graphic marvels, they're just games where thrash thousands of people with Over Powered characters. Expect to run on flat ground, with semi-destructable environments.
-

I love the Musou franchises. i've played dozens of them for a decade, clocked hundreds of hours. I know exactly what to expect out of this game, aside from character count. Heck, I loved Gundam Musou and I don't even know anything about that franchise going into the game.
(Also, Capcom's Sengoku Basara has kicked the crap out of Koei's outings lately in terms of level and character variety)
But nearly every other person in here, especially those that have apparently never even played a Musou game before… that are speculating or hoping for certain things like every enemy character ever, wondering why X character doesn't appear to be in it, expecting true cooperative two player mode rather than a split screen, thinking there will be epic boss battles... or even judging from the gameplay videos (which have a fair amount of cinema in them disguised as gameplay)... they're going to be dissapointed.
-
Announce Robin, Franky and Brook and this game will hit my expectations. Because in a One Piece game all I expect is the Main Cast and a handful of side chars.
Like Robby said. Don't expect too much. There'll be a small amount of chars and probably a level for most arcs (Buggy, Baratie, Arlong, Logue, Drum, Arabasta, Skypiea, Enies Lobby, Thriler Bark, Saboady, Impel Down, Marineford, New World.) and even then most likely we won't get to play as most of the chars. Keep in mind that whoever has done tons will be pushed aside for others (For example we are probably more likely to see Marco playable than Moriah.)
-

Dynasty Warriors Gundam in a nutshell. >_> 3 games for dark scythe gundam, 3 GAMES.
Oh dear god, I just remembered one BIG problem I have with DW games.
The battle progress quotes, I hope for the love of god they make 3 or 4 to cycle through this time.
JUDAU has killed 100 enemies!
JUDAU: "If you didn't want to die you shoulda stayed home"

i've never played one but i don't expect it to be like my dreams for a one piece game. I would like to be able to play as the boss characters (or just a handful like buggy and arlong) but all the strawhats and ace would be alright
-

exactly. i played almost every dynasty warriors and other musou games like samurai warriors, etc, and i know what to expect from this game. those who never played a musou game or doesnt enjoy a musou type game really shouldnt expect too much.
all the the strawhats to be playable is the most you can ask for this game. otherwise you will get a basically same character with minor difference in movement sets. i prefer less char with completely different move sets.

WING isn't nearly as popular in Japan as it is in the states. And it only got so many new entires in 3 because it was Wing's 15th anniversary. Deathsycthe ended up kind of sucking, anyway.
There's still no showing at all from 08th MS team or the OVAs.

Exploring, yes.
Collecting, no.One of the things that urked me about Unlimited Adventure was the constant, repetitive grinding.

I liked having to find items to create new ones. Doing it to get farther less.

I want to laugh at you, but I'd be laughing at myself from 5 years ago.
These games are NOT graphic marvels, they're just games where thrash thousands of people with Over Powered characters. Expect to run on flat ground, with semi-destructable environments.
No need to laugh, I played most of the Dynasty Warriors games, and I know how they work. I know how they look and what to expect from them, BUT One Piece is vastly different than anything Koei have ever made. I didn't play the Gundam games or the Hokuto game, but there are stuff that you HAVE to include in any licensed game, because you have to.
E.g. when I was talking about how cool Lucci would be in this game, I was imagining him using his skills from the anime that they have to include in the game, unless they don't want to put him in the game.
The game isn't a graphic marvel, but it's the single best looking Omega-Force game yet, and it looks beautiful compared to the other great anime based games. To name a few Drum Island, Arabasta, Skypia, Impel Down, Amazon Lily are all places that where featured in manga, and considering this IS a One Piece game, expecting these location to show up in the game is by no mean is "expecting too much".
Finally, unless Omega Force are going to make an all new story with new locations, it's safe to expect anything from the manga to be in the game. I understand that people are keeping their expectations low in order to avoid being disappointed, but I believe that the game looks promising, and there is nothing wrong with expecting what should be expected.

Bit the bullet and went ahead and posted this on the UK Bandai Namco forums
I](http://www.uk.namcobandaigames.eu/community/topics/a-question-about-one-piece-kaizoku-musou-pirate-warriors-ps3)f you are lazy/ don't want to go on to the forums to read what I wrote:
" A QUESTION ABOUT ONE PIECE KAIZOKU MUSOU/PIRATE WARRIORS [PS3]One Piece Kaizoku is set to release in March in Japan for the PS3. The Dynasty Warriors team are doing it again, this time with the One Piece franchise. This will be the first next generation game and quite possibly the last before the consoles are changed again, so this game has a huge significance in terms of being a One Piece fan.
A while ago someone reported that Namco Bandai Europe filed a trademark for "Pirate Warriors", now when you directly translate Kaizoku Musou you get Pirate Warriors.
This story is as follows: http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/interest/2011-12-30/namco-bandai-registers-pirate-warriors-trademark-in-europe
What I want to know is if this is coming to the UK as the languages shown are English and the secondary as Spanish. Someone has said that Bandai Namco has already confirmed the Spanish version and that it will appear at a Spanish games convention, this was posted on the wall of a One Piece Podcast facebook page and I have since not been able to locate this news directly but I would like an answer from the head of operations with this sort of thing as this game means a lot to One Piece fans everywhere.
I bought a PS3 for this game and cannot wait to play it, be it in Japanese or with English subtitles. Thanks for reading. "

Anyone know Spanish that can give us an accurate translation? Google Translate was horrible.

Namco Bandai, in a recent interview for Ramen Para Dos during the last Expocomic 2011, could confirm that One Piece: Pirate Musou will arrive in Spain.
David Castano and Sylvia Martin of Namco Bandia Iberica during the Expocomic 2011 dedicated some time to Ramen Para Dos where they resolved some doubt pertaining to the recent launches and the ones that will arrive in 2012 relating to the world of manga and anime, such as One Piece: Pirate Musou, which in David’s words, is “a crossover of Dynasty Warriors using the One Piece license.”
From the date of the interview, of about a month ago, neither David nor Silva could confirm any details regarding the launch, or the date, or the name of the title in Spain, but what they could confirm with all assurance is that it will arrive in Spain.
That is a rough translation of what is said. Basically, it's coming out in Spain.

I guess we can expect a whole Europe release? It would be weird if it gets released in Spain and UK but for example not in France and Germany.

Well the trademark was taken out for English and then a secondary language of Spanish but yeah One Piece is huge in France and Germany. It'll happen, wish they'd stop bullshitting us and actually reply and confirm this stuff though.

Gundam 3 didn't get an official worldwide release announcement, let alone a release date, until about a month after the game came out in Japan. There's a sequence and priority order to these things. That we have any confirmation on other releases already is just a testament to the crazy fans hounding them constantly.
We'll get official news about the rest of the world in March. Right now all their energy is on the japanese release, as it should be.
