Hm…
Strawberry uhm... Chinese?
Kaiser is French. (or not)
Doberman is... uuuuhm...
Dalmatian is Swedish?
Lacroix - totally French.
Ronse - viking
Okay, I give up, I'm really bad at this.

I thought Kidd would be Scottish, and Law is an awkward one XD
He could be German, Spanish, English or Russian @ A @
or Canadian.
Kidd is definitely Scottish, we too love a scrap. Law could/should be English, it adds to the whole rivalry thing they got going on and Trafalgar was the name of that naval battle that the English were in.
Do Kidd and Law have a rivalry? Whatever.

Unless you call it high levels of sexual tension, then yes I guess they do, with Luffy as well.
They're kinda sworn rivals, saying they'd definitely meet each other in the New World.
Threesomes may or may not be implied, but the dominant one will be King.

So I guess Luffy's Welsh then. With Zoro(who we'll call Irish just 'cos of the green hair) being left out, looking in from the outside while stifling tears and wailing sobs.
Yes he is. His hair is black in manga but he's actually blond in color.
I say his mexican
Earlier in the series it was black then he shows up later with blonde hair. That makes me assume that he died it blonde.

I chose English for Kidd because of his heavy metal theme, and the fact that the real Captain Kidd was English.
And my choice to make Law German is because of this trope
Bonney=ukraine
Kidd=scottland
Law=spain
Urouge=turkey
Capone=italy
Drake=austrailia/netherlands/ireland
Apoo=china
Killer=new zealand
hawkins=scandinavia (norway/sweden/finland)
Bon Kurei=france
daz bones=syria
Mr. 3=india
jinbei=japan
Hancock=Greece
moria=romania
Doflamingo=germany
Small update:
Mihawk: Spanish
Crocodile: Italian
Doflamingo: French
Kuma: Portuguese
Moriah: Romanian
Jinbe: Japanese
Hancock: Greek
Blackbeard: Mexican
And the Supernovas:
Kid and Killer: English
Law: Swiss
Drake: Scottish
Bege: Italian
Bonney: American
Apoo: Chinese
Hawkins: German
Urouge: Tibetan
@Miss:
Cause she eats? Get out.
And Apoo is clearly Indian.
Don't be silly. Everybody eats. However, only Americans are stereotyped as eating that much junk food.
IMO that's very different
Bonney: Spanish
Kid: German
Killer:Russian
Drake:French
Hawkins: Norway
Law:Indian
Apoo:Korean
Urouge:Chinese
Capone:Italian
@Miss:
And Apoo is clearly Indian.
Despite being dressed in old-timey Chinese dress and having the name of a Chinese pirate?
IMO that's very different
Bonney: Spanish
Kid: German
Killer:Russian
Drake:French
Hawkins: Norway
Law:Indian
Apoo:Korean
Urouge:Chinese
Capone:Italian
I wonder how exactly Bonney is Spanish and Law is Indian. Those two seem totally random.
Indian Law is a little Random I think too. But Bonney Spanish is quite good, I think she's not American at all, I would see her talk more Spanish than American.
( Btw I'm sure that Bonney's voice in the French version is really awful
I agree that Usopp should be South African because, honestly, any other nationality would feel random. South Africa is, most of the time, the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "African nation" due to the whole history with the Apartheid and the
Vuvuzelas2010 World Cup.
Cool dumbass post right here.

@Mr.:

Killer=new zealand

The heck was the rationale behind these ones?
Mr 3 especially is confusing the hell out of me. He's almost cartoonishly English.

Apoo is really obviously Chinese (or Manchurian rather). He's one of the less fantheory open ones in the series.
He looks like some weird Qing China Parappa character.
I'm still shocked that Luffy is Brazilian, figured he was Japanese though there are a lot of Japanese Brazilians
So I'll conclude Luffy is Japanese/Asian.

If Oda said that Luffy is Brazilian, then he is Brazilian.
Luffy doesn't look any more Japanese than Brazilian.
I'm surprised no one said Drake could be spanish due to his first name being Diez.
Boa Hancock: Chinese
why Greek??
if i eat the "mero mero no mi" i'm greek too?? o.O

I think it has more to do with her Amazonian theme and Greek Goddess personality, really.. Besides, when was the last time you saw a 6'3, statuesque Chinese woman with boobs bigger than her head?
@Jet:

Spain is not the only country that speaks Spanish, you know. Also, "Drake" is of English origin, anyway.

Bonney and her crew give me some massive Texan vibes. That's why I chose American for her. Also, Norway to Hawkins also feels random.

i think in this kind of topic boobs don't count…it's a manga.
Boa Hancock is chinese like what Oda Said , her dress is chinese , her boat is chinese , amazon Lily have chinese style.
and she looks like a chinese princess or chinese female mafia boss...
!
Greek Goddess personality = Hong Kong Female Mafia boss
i'm italian ( so sorry for my english xD it's not my mothertogue ) there are no difference between italian and greek , i love greek mythology and Norse Mythology….only her fruit is linked with greek Mythology....she's definitely not greek. [h=1][/h]
@Mr.:
daz bones=syria
Uhh, you do realize that all native Syrian people are light skinned?

It's not only her fruit that is linked with Greek Mythology, but the whole civilization that she comes from. You should know that the Amazons are one of the most well-known Greek myths. She also brings to mind Aphrodite, Greek Goddess of Beauty and Love (she's gorgeous and in love with Luffy), and the Gorgon (Snake theme and petrification powers). She's definitely more based on Greek elements than Chinese ones.
Spain is not the only country that speaks Spanish, you know. Also, "Drake" is of English origin, anyway.
Oh, I'm sorry, I should've been more clear. I thought Spanish since the first half of the grand line is "speculated" around fans as being the old world, Europe, I thought that maybe Drake could be considered spanish due to his surname being Diez.

whata bout arabasta, whisky peak, jaya, long ring long island,…? only water 7 is clearly europhean.
If Oda said that Luffy is Brazilian, then he is Brazilian.
Luffy doesn't look any more Japanese than Brazilian.
I think we need to mark down the difference between culturally and genetically. I think it's clear that's what Oda was talking about.

They're likely based off some Scythian culture that lived in what is now the Ukraine that the Ancient Greeks encountered. So a dead culture.
Also again, no, the "whole society"? The architecture on Amazon Lilly is even Chinese looking, even the geography of the island. It strongly resembles some Southern Chinese mountain retreat.

That's completely nonsensical in every way imaginable.
I mean this isn't even arguable. It's just plain wrong.
I mean what the fuck.
Whiskey Peak = Wild West/Mexican Look
Little Garden = Prehistoric Dinosaur Period
Alabasta = Arabia
Jaya = Caribbean looking colonial seaport
Skypiea = Blatantly based off Aztec/Mayan stuff
Long Ring Long Island = Central Asian sort of stuff
Oda's use of the "New World/Old World" terminology may be borrowed from the way explorers used it in real life, but as a concept.
Not as literally basing how anything looks or is off the real life Old World/New World.

nice post but
i don't think so^^
!
yeah amazons are in greek myths….but amazons are amazons not greek xD
then we are talking about a god , if i'm a muslim don't mean i'm from Middle East
she is linked with greek's god or greek citizens??
! i'm atheist xD
she is linked with chinese citizen?? yes
she is linked with traditional Chinese culture?? yes
amazon lily is based on chinese architecture?? yes
she has a chinese junk? yes
this is my last post^^
you have your opinion and i mine so peace^^
If Oda said that Luffy is Brazilian, then he is Brazilian.
Luffy doesn't look any more Japanese than Brazilian.
Ethnically I mean, nationally yes he would be culturally Brazilian. Overall I'll be assuming he's Japanese Brazilian.
But I'll digress
Jeez, I'm sorry that my posts are just speculations and in no way to be taken seriously-v-, maybe if I go and declare Shirahoshi for NN I'll be less bashed-v-.
@Jet:

It's Dies, which means ten, and that ten is because of the big X he has, which means 10 in Roman numbers.
@Monkey:

I WAS talking from a cultural viewpoint. When I said that Luffy doesn't look more Japanese than Brazilian, I meant that there was nothing on his design or personality that screamed any of those nationalities (kinda how the French are always stereotyped as wearing berets and being romantic). If Oda says that he is Brazilian, I'm not going to argue. Genetics are irrelevant most of the time when discussing nationalities.
No, most of the time genetics ARE relevant. Except in the New World (real world version), where I assume you live.
In most countries in the world, nationality is to some degree tied to ethnicity. Whether directly like in the case of a country like Croatia. Or by covering a large region of ethnicities, like India.
Most countries aren't made up of immigrants and their descendents like the US or Brazil.

I was not talking about the real world. I was saying that Genetics are most of the time irrelevant when discussing the nationality of characters (should have specified that). The only way to make guesses about which nationality a character would be is through their design (clothes, weapons, fighting styles) and personality and associating them with stereotypes (which Oda does).
Kidd Eustass is a reference to the famous french pirate Eustache le moine or sometimes called the black monk because he was said to use black magic; and the kidd, an english pirate. Thus he is definitly french or/and english. And i tend to think that he is french regarding his look and abilities.
how hard is it to get his name right it's kid not kidd.
Franky is american? thats cool I guess and I always thought Nami was either Scottish or german. Luffy being Brazilian is a big shock to me i always thought he was Japanese.
As far as Supernovas goes, I think that Kid is from Scotland, Birmingham UK, Or somewhere in Wales and the same goes for Killer. I think Law is Spanish English and from some part of London. Maybe the West end, Westminster because Traflagar Square is located there. Bonney is from Amsterdam, Netherlands and I think Apoo is from South Korea or Hong Kong
Apoo is based off Chinese pirate Chui A-poo.
@Medical:
Apoo is based off Chinese pirate Chui A-poo.
While, I do know about that factoid. I only made the South Korean suggestion for fun and all non Seriousness because of some fan art of him and Hawkins dancing from the Gangnam Style music video. As for the Hong Kong suggestion I was being a tinsy bit serious about it the idea that if Apoo was from the real world he would be from Hong Kong .
@Farsighted:

Apoo is Chinese based beyond question. From like 1800's China, before anyone gave a shit about Hong Kong.
Why would Law be English or Spanish? The namesake doesn't really have anything to do with anything.
Kidd and his crew are based off early 80's British heavy metal groups like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motorhead, so I guess that makes them British. But only them.
Bonney is Dutch…why?

Bonney is Dutch? She eats/drinks a lot and is named quite similarly to Irish pirate so I say Irish… I'll go out and say that Hawkins is based off of fortune teller but I won't couple a nationality with that because it could be considered prejudice

With Law, I meant He's English with Spanish ancestry, I gave him the location because Trafalgar square is located there . I know that square is
named after the Battle of Trafalgar . It just made sense to me.
Yes, I know that Apoo is based on a Chinese Pirate and his crew has a Chinese theme, Why can't I have a bit of fun with the location?. Hong Kong has a music history. It has Opera, Orchestra and Music Festivals. Alternatively, I could also suggest Apoo is from Beijing.
As For Bonney: The Dutch Food and Beer.

I made the suggestion for Dutch because of the food there looked good to me. As for Hawkins, I don't know what to suggest.
Kuros has to be greek! That suffix, his beard, he's a gladiator, he's pissed all the time and hates his government.
Don Chinjao is chinese, Cavendish is french, trebol is german, senor Pink is spanish.
why is my country so underrepresented
Kuros has to be greek! That suffix, his beard, he's a gladiator, he's pissed all the time and hates his government.
He's tall and handsome, though.

I agree with rest but have no idea how you came up with german atm
