Sweden?
I'll accept that.
Sweden?
I'll accept that.
That's one of the most stupidest comparisons I've ever seen. I don't even see the utility for this. The economist? Why?

because there is something perversely awesome about knowing that the poorest state in the US out produces a country with 80 times it's population.

Yeah, you got a point there.
I don't like GDP comparisons, If you need to make a comparison use the ecological footprint, everything is said therein:
Yeah, you got a point there.

Africa really needs to get off that diet.

So you mean rich countries that produce wealth, materials, and food consume more resources than third world countries that produce babies, corruption, and hunger? I am certain you are a shoe in for the Bank of Sweden's million dollar toaster raffle. Congratulations!
So you mean rich countries that produce wealth, materials, and food consume more resources than third world countries that produce babies, corruption, and hunger?
No! What I mean is what's on that map. Rich countries consuming far more than what the earth can provide, while the poor countries are put on forced anorexia. The funny thing is that the ecological disasters are first felt in these poor countries. Ironic hein, isn't it? Come on Kingloser laugh with this perverse awesomeness.

Lol, I see you got a problem with truths, isn't it?
No! What I mean is what's on that map.
So do I.
Rich countries consuming far more than what the earth can provide
Hal Lindsey has a higher success ratio than you people, all resources were to have been depleted every decade since the end of the 18th century.
, while the poor countries are put on forced anorexia.
Yet we sit in our armchairs one our laptops with our grande vente coffees bitching about how people are starving but of course we will never in a million years give up our lifestyle to help anyone. It is much more satisfying to claim you care and act morally superior to random people on the Internet.
The funny thing is that the ecological disasters are first felt in these poor countries.
Wow, this is so insightful, you mean people without large social safety nets, money, resources and food will be the first to be affected by a shortage?
Ironic hein, isn't it? Come on Kingloser laugh with this perverse awesomeness.
I most certainly do, more because you don't realize what real irony is.
Lol, I see you got a problem with truths, isn't it?
No I have a problem when I smell bovine scat topped with a fig leaf of self righteousness by someone who won't even give up his internets to save a staving baby.
You are parading with your bag full of assumptions. Do you seriously believe you're safe with it?
Hahahahahahaha so I post a totally veridical map on the state of affairs in today's world and you for some reason link that with righteous leftist alter-globalism and chose to attack me for no apparent reason.
Hal Lindsey has a higher success ratio than you people, all resources were to have been depleted every decade since the end of the 18th century.
I am Kingloser, I don't believe tobacco has anything to do with cancer, or that myth known as climate change. I am Kingloser and have heard of Hal Lindsey so I am smart.
@Kingloser:

Hahahahah so posting a map, talking about injustices in today's world is acting 'morally superior' in your eyes. You got some real psychological issues. What is it Kingloser? You can't stand people who "care"? You prefer all people to be like you? So they can understand you? So you won't be all alone? So you'd feel comfortable with your me, myself and I-principles?
@Kingloser:
Wow, this is so insightful, you mean people without large social safety nets, money, resources and food will be the first to be affected by a shortage?
You've ever heard of desertification?
@Kingloser:
No I have a problem when I smell bovine scat topped with a fig leaf of self righteousness by someone who won't even give up his internets to save a staving baby.
LOL! Assumptions, assumptions, Kinglosers, you know they tell more about yourself than anything else.
My condolescences to you, people of Wyoming.
The Economist - US equivalents
A fun little scheme. I wonder how accurate is this comparison. And huh, Zephos lives in UAE, Robby - in Russia, and Holy - in Thailand. Anyone else?
Hmm.. I'm in Australia? No wonder I've always liked that country.
Kingloser is one of the two morons who shows up every once in a blue moon ot spout dumb right wing bullshit. The other being mugiwara.
He was the moreβ¦verbally together one, but I guess he didn't want to be known for that anymore.
Cool Tip: If you don't have an actual arguement or anything, and just want to vent about hating "armchair reformers" or whatever get the fuck out of my thread because the last goddamn thing I want in here is to have some conservative drip airing out his flinchy reactionary insecurties he feels whenever someone says something about the world is bad.
My condolescences to you, people of Wyoming.
So my state's about as well off as Poland? Eh, not bad I guess.
So my state's about as well off as Poland? Eh, not bad I guess.
It's not ranking living standards, just GDP I think.
Like Rhode Island isn't actually like living in Bulgaria lol.
I guess it's hella awesome to rank GDP as well as an oil resort. How do we do it in the Nutmeg?
My condolescences to you, people of Wyoming.
Welp.
Time to re-watch Borat.
US still above UK, and all is right in the world.
Oh hello England.
Nice to see you at number 28 England.
Libya had a big drop. 10 points down. Figured that would happen and here to a better year next year
Old England: Hmpf! Stupid Americans with their low education standard, hippity hop music, and their shopping carts. Ooh, smashing, the new HDI has arrived! Now to see how much better I am than -
is below former communist countries and Ireland
The fact that countries like Belgium, France and Israel (maybe Slovenia too, I don't know.. Thing are going pretty well there) are above Finland on that list makes me cringe. I find that hard to believe.
Feel free to prove me wrong.
You're above Old England, that's all that matters.
Aye. Maybe I should just be content with that. I want to get out of here sooner or later anyway.
i wish they would split England and Scotland in the HDI. Them cake lovin' englishmen are hailing down our haggis corn beef.
@bartholemew:

We're too dapper.
Seriously.
We need Scotland with us so then our weather doesn't look a shitty.
Just saying.
@THC:
Why is Thailand so low
My country of heritage totally sucks yo
Outside Bangkok I don't think it's supposed to be that well built up.
@Cyan:
US still above UK, and all is right in the world.

lol at having to rely on a sub-measurement where your country ranks pretty poorly as well.
I actually have lived in DC for all of my life and decided to play devil's advocate. Welp, I just realized my argument was sort of pointless. :p
Speaking of the HDI, do you know why method of calculating it changed? Did the previous methodology not take into account other important aspects of a country's well-being?
Yeah, something like that.
So Canada's hanging steady at #6, and even crept up a one-hundredth of a point (with Ireland tagging along); I'm comfortable with that.
Though, I'm curious as to exactly which categories Norway and Australia have higher ratings in, to have them at least .20 points above the rest of the top 10β¦
Norway is filthy fucking rich, that much I know.
Snorway .
Norway is the only country allowed to go on a "STUPID AMERICANS RABBLE RABBLE" tirade.
New York is obviously at the top
Florida's probably near the bottom all things considered.
@Cyan:
Norway is the only country allowed to go on a "STUPID AMERICANS RABBLE RABBLE" tirade.
No, that's Ireland. Ireland is the Godo to America's Gutts.
I honestly think if any country were to try giving American's a lecture, we'd actually sit and listen if it were Ireland for some reason. Like we respect them as this unassuming, unpretentious, sort of vaguely grandfatherly figure who we regard as tough and gritty.
Or if you're a current Republican presidential candidate replace Ireland with Israel.
@Monkey:

I Just don't get it. And this is coming from someone with Irish blood running through his veins.
I swear if it wasn't for the accent and oldskool charm that place would have met its end a long time ago.
We have more Irish than Ireland. That might have something to do with it too.
@Monkey:

For real ?
They got like 4.5 million people, and we have like 36.2 million Irish Americans. Even if you adjusted for the ethnic background fraction factor that justβ¦.
I'm sure the UK will blame the EU for their low ranking.
Also number 3 bitches.

Why not? We blame them for just about everything else.
@Cyan:

America itself also gets to do so.
HDI or anything else but the U.S. is a better place than Canada
