Hmmm….I have a feeling Livebear's insane. Yeah, just an out of nowhere feeling. :ninja:
What ever gave you that idea ? :ninja:

Killing two birds with one stone.
Someone post the one where he's flicking his tongue back and forth.

! Not saying you two are birds I should kill…ahem...
Noting the color page it's well done, festive, and colorful but besides that it made me think about the personal animals this group has. Komatsu has his little penguin, Sani has his snake, Toriko has Terry, and Coco has his crow. That just leaves poor Zebra out.
Any guesses as to what kind of animal he'll have? Probably something bestial and badass. Yeah, we all know what it's going to be. A badass zebra~
"A Livebearer is searching for prey with his tounge. Through the smell of his target, he can locate and capture it with ease. Even if he can barely see, the other senses of a Livebearer are very well developed."
Livebearer is one of the creepiest shonen villains I've ever seen.
I approve.
He's definitely up there with Hisoka in terms of sheer creepiness.
Heh, this chapter reminds me of an old Iron Wok Jan chapter, when a chef tricked people into drinking wine after eating durian.
Great stuff.
Goddamit, Livebearer!!!
Stop being so damn creepy and hideous!
I FORBID IT!!
Anyway, great chapter. Coco was luring LB into a trap right from the get-go.
So far Toriko had rly damn good villains to offer, what is always something that holds me by a series.
Livebearer playing games and making silly faces all the time definitely makes me enjoy him, but i hope we get to see also a decent fight with him showing what he is able to, because so far he was just smiling while playing his prefered game.

Maybe he'll show up after the arc with his new pet
Zebra should get this animal:
!
To complete the norse mythology of animals
Toriko-wolf( Fenrir)
Coco-Raven( Huginn )
Sani-Snake(Jörmungandr)
Zebura-Horse( Sleipnir)
I thought some people suggested zebra would get the baby nitro from the prison, that'd be pretty awesome, although it'd have to be extremely young I'd think
but thinking about those horses and zebra made me think of a comparison to Raoh from fist of the north star
Zebra should get a epic Torikofied Honey Badger.
He'll have a Dragon, Fafnir if you want.
Livebearer feels like he came out of nowhere to be one of the coolest and most disturbed shonen villians I've seen in awhile. This series never disappoints.

He didn't completely come out of nowhere. Niceny mentioned him a couple chapters before he was introduced:
!
Wooo…Beasts and their Beastfriends.
I'm calling it Zebra will get a banshee tiger. XD
So Coco is gunning for a potentiation effect where A + B = ABx3 compared to a cumulative effect of A + B = AB. Cool
lol awesome gif, definitely shows the distrubing-ness and creepiness of Livebearer.
About food combo, all I know is that alcohol can weaken the immune system/liver. I honestly don't know what narcotics do and whether the potato is chosen for the poison or something else. :wassat: Argh!! the suspense is killing me! :insertcrazyLivebearerfacehere:
And the AP Award for "Best/Most/Creepiest/HolyFuckingShit Reaction Faces goes to… Livebearer!!
Coco is awesome hes really grown on me this arc and Liverbearer is fuck!ng creepy

Narcotics can depress your respiratory centers. Alcohol can do that as well…just imagine yourself...slowly drifting away...like fleeting clouds. XD
But I'm guessing Shimabukuro will go with the liver. It does all filtering and detoxification in your body. ACUTE LIVER FAILURE anyone? XD
livebearer should have his own kind of smilies, i could use them to traumatize even more my friends on msn :3
is there a link for the chapter here? i usually read on mangareader yet i cant find it (now that i send it i will check the previous page of this topic, so if it
s there just ignore this sentence ü)

Woah...so if LB loses...would Komatsu be able to suck his stored knowledge? POwer UP!
Heh, this chapter reminds me of an old Iron Wok Jan chapter, when a chef tricked people into drinking wine after eating durian.
Yes! Didn't know other people had read this.
Also wow. I had no idea a character who was already so creepy could escalate in creepiness this quickly. Wow.
After watching the episodes, now I'm curious:
How'd Garçon Alfaro-sama get to ice Hell? Maybe he has an insanely awesome flying beast from the gourmet world.Lol,can wait to see what the Bishokukai's second rank has
Here you go.

I somehow don't think Komatsu would do that.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
@No:
What precisely afterwards ? I heard something but…..
In the comic it was heart problems, from memory - would have to check my book. In real life no one's really sure if there's any link, but there was a study a while back that the sulphur in the durian stops alchohol from being broken down, and alchohol is, at the end of the day, a poison.
Yes! Didn't know other people had read this.
One of my favourite mangas. Jan's antics & the presentation of the food was brilliant. Shame Iron Wok Jan R never got released though.
This has been repeated a lot in late Toriko chapter discussions but this time I feel the need to say it myself:
Just when you thought Livebearer can't get any creepier…
Also, somehow, while Coco's tactic isn't anything mindblowingly(is that a word?) brilliant, I did enjoy him this arc
@No:
You heard me! Stop being freaky, dude. lol
@Silverblade:
I wouldn't be surprised if Livebearer makes love to his food right before he eats it.
He seems like the kind of person who would sexual assault an ingredient.(if that's possible)
Alright. I just got re-caught up with Toriko which was pretty much just the casino arc. So for anyone who's watched the anime, are the animations done well enough in your opinion to watch it? I can stand censorship and shivers Tina as long as I feel the anime itself is done pretty well.

This
Has suddenly become even more creepy somehow :ninja:
Does anyone have the full results for the popularity poll? I know 1-10,and Zonge was 17 or something…
Or does anyone know where Mansam,Ichiryu,Jiro,Yosaku or any other boushikuaki besides Tommy and Starjyuun placed?
And why,for the love of god does Umen have a fanbase?????It hurts my soul... His position shoulda been replaced with Grinpatch,Match Setsuno or even Alfaro
And does anyone know any forums where fans are discussing Toriko actively, cause it's killing me that Toriko has no online fanbase/activity.Since Mangastream dumped it,their Toriko forum has been pretty much dead.
I decided to watch episode 33, and despite the lack of blood and the seemingly 4kids-like censorship of shadows to cover loss limbs, the fight was really cool.
The anime kept true to the manga, minus one part where Tommyrod blew up the fist instead of biting it off, but they kept Toriko getting bit on the side of the body and the finger. Even the glowingness of the characters didn't bother me like it sometimes does. Maybe I'll try the anime again.
So has the anime stoped exluding necessary exposition yet ?

Oh and I was wondering.....would anyone be interested in playing a version of Gourmet Concentration themselves ?
I doubt that Zebra will get a pet. Can it be badass? Doubtly - he hates such cocky animals. Can it be kawaii one? I don't think so… If he gets something, we are up for a big surprise! It would be cool if he got himself a virus or microbe. But how can it be a visible sentient enough colony?
Hmm. I've been playing around with the idea of organising some sort of Gourmet Concentration game over the net with fan named cards. I've been making up some names and thinking up their atributes, would anyone care to hear some ?

cool, yes please
@O:
cool, yes please
A couple of the names off the list (some of these are far older then the list itself)
! Blue Mongoose Psychic Pumpkin - it's ultra sweet juice is so potent it can overpower the senses of even highly inteligent species
Germ Bug - a bug evolved from dung beetles, having several hard to kill and lethal bacterias in it's body as parasites
Ouroboros Dragon Fish - giant armoured fish renowned for it's cannibalism and self canibalism
Bomber Walrus - giant walrus that hunts it's prey by jumping above the water and dive bombing it, using his teeth
Olympia Cocklebur - a special giant species Cocklebur , that's very poisonous but can also be made very tastefull
Bhut Kombucha - A kombucha made out of a Ghost Pepper-like tea
If anyone has any ideas themselves I wouldn't mind hearing them too.
Came up with an ingredient-
Titanium coconut- a shell literally made from titanium;has delicious, rich sweet juice that has a slight bitter-aftertaste when swallowed.
Banana Scorpion- a scorpions who shell is rich in potassium and tastes of bananas.Has lethal poison

! –------------------------------------------
! What's on the Cards
! Anyway my idea would be this. Each card would have three stats: cooking difficulty, capture and eating difficulty. The first would also reflect the ideal amount of time necessary to cook it. The second one would be for "retrieval" , which would usualy only work with animals, and the third is to reflect the amount, the taste, the texture, smell etc.
! Each would be rated from 0 to 9, and the average would be the Card Point stat. This would be the type one would have to roll to eat it in time. There would be a + and − 1 tolerance, so say the CP is 5. Rolling 4 or 6 would both result in a perfect "eating" as well. Rolling a 3 would make the ingredient insufficiently cooked. Then there are two other possibilities. Rolling a 2 or lower would result in not getting the ingredient and rolling anything from 7 and above would make it overcooked or badly cooked. The DM would then inflict stat deduction or increase based on the type of ingredient and the result (plus if cooked idealy, less plus or minus if cooked insufficiently or too much). Not getting the ingredient at all would automaticaly result in an out.
! The idea is this. You have the following stats as a player: Health (H) , Endurance (E) and Expertise (Ex). These all go up or down after each finished ingredient, based upon what the DM decides. Every ingredient also has a defined score for "perfect", but the other options vary based on how badly you rolled and on your various stats. Esentialy, stats act as your health bar and Exp in the game. If your Health goes to 0, the player dies. If Endurance goes to 0, he suffers a full stat deduction from imperfectly cooked ingredients minus 1. If expertise goes to 0, the same thing happens. If your Endurance passes a certain level you will be given an automatic boost for all undercooked or overcooked ingredients, that can nullify or weaken any stat deduction, however this is always the smaller boost when compared to a comparable expertise boost. If your Expertise goes to a certain level you will be able to decrease the negative consequences of undercooked or overcooked ingredients, because the player is able to cook them far better in these imperfect conditions. From a certain level, Expertise can even increase your tolerance, thusly making a "perfect" hit all the more possible. Health meanwhile awards bonus E and Ex points after gaining certain levels.
! As for the cards themselves. Aside from the CP and Perfect Stat Bonuses, there's also a card level. Each card is rated with a rating of one to three, three being the easiest. What this is is the amount of tries you have to roll a perfect. You can only roll type 1 ingredients once, type 2 twice and type 3 thrice.
! Finaly, there's Game Points. As seen above, each card also has a set number of Game Points. These are independent from PS Bonuses. It is these Game Points that after a set time, or after all the cards have been paired up (not necessarily meaning "confumed") decide the winner, unless one or all oposing players have died because all of their stats droped to 0.
! –---------
! Stats and Level Example.
! Player 1 rolls up the following beginer stats
! H 8 E 4 Ex 5
! A higher level is achieved thusly
! Health
Level 1: 1-10: The "normal" mode
Level 2: 11-20: Upon reaching this level you get + 1 E and + 1 Exp
Level 3: 21-35 Upon reaching this level you get + 3 E and + 4 Exp
Level 4: 36-50 Upon reaching this level you get + 4 E and + 5 Exp
Level 5: 51-65 Upon reaching this level you get + 6 E and + 9 Exp
Level 6: 66-85 Upon reaching this level you get + 9 E and + 12 Exp
Level 7: 86- Upon reaching this level you get + 10 E and + 15 Exp
! If you reach Level 2 on say H, and then get set back to level 1, you don't lose any of the bonuses. Also you get another bonus when you get back to 2
! Endurance
! Level 1: 1-10 Normal mode
Level 2: 2-25: Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 1
Level 3: 26-55: Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 5
Level 4: 56-80 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 9
Level 5: 81-100 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 12
Level 6: 101-125 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 15
Level 7: 126- Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 20
! If you reach level 2 and get reduced back to level 1, you lose the entiere E bonus. If you reach level 3 and get set back to level 2 your E bonus decreases to the amount for Level 2 and so on.
! Experience
! Level 1: 1-10 Normal Mode
Level 2: 11-25 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 2
Level 3: 26-35 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 5
Level 4 36-50 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 10, plus gives you a tolerance of plus 1 on overcooked ingredients
Level 5: 51-75 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 15, plus gives you a tolerance of 2 on overcooked ingredients and 1 on undercooked ingredients
Level 6: 76-90 Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 20, plus gives you a tolerance of 2 on overcooked ingredients and 2 on undercooked ingredients
Level 7: 91- Increases stat points from imperfect ingredients by 25, plus gives you a tolerance of 3 on overcooked ingredients and 3 on undercooked ingredients
! –-----------------------------
! Now to Gameplay examples
! Player 1 with these stats H 8 E 4 Ex 5
! He will first choose two numbers. I will list what numbers were uncovered. If he get's a hit he can try eat the ingredient. If not it's an out and the turn switches.
! So if he says 26 and 38 and he will get a "hit" I will respond thusly
! # 26 Syrup Corn
! A Hit
! He can then proceed to try and consume the ingredient.
! "Syrup Corn"
! Syrup Corn has the following card stats.
! Cooking: 3 Retrieval 0 , Eating 5. The Card Points this equals out to is 2.67 > 3. So a player must roll 2-5 to get a "perfect". This ingredient will always be cooked and obtained to some decree because you can't roll less then 2 from perfect. Furthermore it's a type 2, so you have two rolls to get a perfect.
! Rolling 2-4 will, for example, give you a stat boost of H + 1, E + 2 and Ex + 2. He will also get 295 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling 1 will give you these stat results: H + 0, E + 1, Ex + 1. He will also get 295 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling a 5 or higher will give you these stat results: H + 0, E − 1, Ex − 1. However you will still get the 295 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Now let's say the Player passed his first ingredient, and rolled 4. His stats would change from H 8 E 4 Ex 5 to H 6, E 6, Ex 7
! He also has 295 Game Points and he then says the following numbers: 11 and 20.
! Assuming he hits, I will write
! # 11 Three Headed Poison Eel
! A Hit
! He can then proceed to try and consume the ingredient.
! Three Headed Poison Eel Three Headed Poison Eel has the following stats
! Cooking: 4 Retrieval 2 , Eating 4. The Card Points this equals out to 3.3, so a player must roll 2-4 to get a "perfect". It's a type 2, so you have 2 rolls to get a perfect. It furhermore has 205 Game Points.
! Rolling 2-4 will, for example, give you a stat boost of H + 1, E + 2 and Ex + 2. He will also get 205 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling 1 will give you these stat results: H − 5, E − 3, Ex − 1. He will also get 295 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling a 5 or higher will give you these stat results: H + 0, E + 0, Ex + 1. However you will still get the 205 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! If the Player rolls a 1, the end results would be:the stats H 6, E 6, Ex 7 would change to H 1, E 3, Ex 6. He would have 295 + 205 Game Points, resulting in 500 Game points.
! Now if he misses, for example sayng # 2 and # 6 I will say
! # 2 Mimic Slime
! OUT
! The game them switches to player 2.
! Player 2 takes over
! Player 2 has the following beginer stats
! H 3 E 7 Ex 6
! He has 0 Game points
! Now if he says # 1 and # 3 and it's a hit I'll say
! # 1 Magnet Clam
! A hit.
! He can then proceed to try and consume the ingredient.
! Magnet Clam
! Magnet Clam has the following stats Cooking: 6 Retrieval 2 , Eating 3. The Card Points this equals out to 3.6 > 4 so the so the player has to roll a 3-5 to get a perfect. It has 320 Game points. It's a type 3 card, so you have 3 rolls to get a perfect.
! Rolling 1 will give a miss. You will not get the ingredient. You will get an out, and no Game Points, but you will lose no stat points.
! Rolling 2 will give you these stat results: H − 5, E − 3, Ex − 1. He will also get 320 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling 3-5 will, for example, give you a stat boost of H + 1, E + 2 and Ex + 2. He will also get 320 Game Points for sucessfuly eating the ingredients.
! Rolling 6 will give you these stat results: H − 2, E − 1, Ex − 1.
! Assuming the player rolls a 1, he gets an out and the turn switches. He has the same stats, and remains at 0 Game Points.
! Player 1 Takes Over
! Player 1 has these stats
! H 1, E 3, Ex 6
! And 500 Game Points.
! He gets an out and the turn switches.
! Player 2 Takes Over
! Player 2 has these stats
! H 3 E 7 Ex 6
! And 0 Game Points.
! He says
! # 2 and # 8
! If he gets a hit I say
! # 2 Mimic Slime
! A Hit
! Then he proceeds to try and consume the ingredient
! Mimic Slime
! Mimic Slime has the following stats Cooking: 9 Retrieval 6 , Eating 5. The Card Points this equals out to is 6.6 > 7. So you need a 5-8 to get a perfect. The cards are a type 1, so you only have one chance to get it. It also has 210 Game Points-
! Rolling a 3 and lower will make you miss the ingredient.
! Rolling a 4 will have these stat results H − 2, E − 2, Ex − 2
! Rolling a 5-8 will have these stat results H + 2, E + 2, Ex + 2
! Rolling a 9 or higher will have these stat results H + 1, E − 1 , Ex + 1
! Note: the stat deductions are defined by the DM, but each monster has a sheet with the exact effects. The DM however can chose to increase or decrease these negative effects based on whether or not the player has suffered a major stat loss or obtained a major stat gain.
Woah. No Maan, what the hell.
@Sonic:
Woah. No Maan, what the hell.
Just thinking out loud.

Zebra's pet will be a Turtle, if Shimabakuro is doing what I think he's doing with the "Four Heavenly Kings".
Toriko - Terry Cloth - Byakko, the White tiger
Coco - Kiss the Crow - Suzaku the Phoenix
Sunny - Qunn the Snake - Seiryu the Dragon
Zebra - ??? - Genbu the Turtle
Plus, a turtle is a pet that would fit Zebra perfectly; if he wanted to wail on it because he was pissed off, it could just go in its shell and he could wail on it while it stays perfectly safe.
Thinking aloud and speculation for future Toriko things:
King if cooking Zaous was mentioned by Melk has having a knife that causes Melk to shit himself, and in the same league as Setsuno and Frohze and Komastus knife .Zaous was mentioned again before this arc started…HE MUST show up soon!!! I don't care if those other named chefs like ethnic king never show up in the manga, abd those cool desighned chefs also never appear, but Zaous MUST be involved in the story. We need more magical, top ranking chefs in the series.
Seeing how Match and the Yakuza were in this arc, maybe the gourmet knights will be in the next arc.Aimaru and Takinaru might be involved, and maybe something about an illness being the centerpiece.
Seeing that the anime is almost finished with the ice hell,a new opening seems inevitable.But..."Guts!Guts !" is one of the best reasons for the anime existing.I love that song, hell,im playing it right now lol.
No Maam, I like the cut of your jib. However, I think such a game would be a lot more fun if you actually had to eat said food.
as in, food challenges.
Easy ones are just like actual fruits, peanut-butter-jelly sandwich, etc. Hard ones?
Spoonful of cinnamon. a jug of milk. saltines in a short amount of time without water.
If you're "of age", then add in some alcoholic things as well. And a few seriously delicious treats, for the hell of it.
all you have to roll for is the "retrieval" of certain things, and then the preparation and eating is actually up to you.
