It won't need to have filesizes quite as large, since its screen is much, much smaller than whatever screen resolutions that the PS3 needs to be able to support.

Wow so gay, I just saw the prices now. 4GB is pathetic too, I mean this is like a mini ps3 right in terms of games? So whats stopping a game coming out to having a couple gig install? Or downloading games that are about that size or bigger. I mean think of like that Warhawk game that was purely downloadable. or think of PSN games like maybe ps2 games that are downloadable, aren't they like half a gig at least. 4GB is pathetic.
Then 32gb biggest and $120. HOLY SHIT.
Their excuse is pathetic. Not allowing sd cards because they have many speeds. Ok, sell your own versions (THESE OVERPRICED THINGS) but still allow sd cards. If someone has a slow thing, its their fault for not buying your media drive. A 32 gb sd card is like $30, yet thier 4gb is $30.
Ok I see the 3g version comes with a 4gb right? But 3g version, that means I need to sign up for a contract with AT&T right? Hell even if it was verizon or sprint I would not want to have to sign up for some monthly bill to have pathetic 3g, but then to have to go to AT&T as well. Or is 3G free?
I really hate stuff that is different. I was pissed at Nintendo for having their charger not being the standard charging size that all phones use these days.
-
3g version requires a plan
-
Wow. Are they actively trying to get people to not get the Vita? You'd really think they'd have learned SOME lessons after the PSP completely lost to the DS.
(And I like the PSP more than the DS for its versatility… but no arguing the DS destroyed it marketshare wise.)
-
The pricing is really ridiculous. Is it really so hard to avoid such obvious mistakes?
The 3ds already became uninteresting for me without inbuilt second circle pad and with the nonsensical region lock.
And sony now repeating their mistake of having ridiculous prices, they should have learned the lesson with the ps3 launch. -

Most PS3 games run at 720p, some lower, some higher. There are phones now with higher resolutions than that.

Doesn't Nintendo destroy/outsell everything that tries to compete with it in the handheld market?
I mean that's just common sense.

Yea but everytime Sony shows its product EVERY analyst and gaming journalist and gaming nerd all yells about Nintendo's doom and how much of a better "TECHNICAL" product sony's is. Even reviewers like CNET and what not give their product better reviews.
What they don't understand is, a 3DS or a Vita is worth 0/10 with zero games. A system, 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, Vita, ect are only as good as its games. It could be the most technically brilliant piece of hardware ever concieved, but if there are no good games for it, who cares.
That's why Nintendo always seems to shine in its OWN games. The reason is they don't build their games around the hardware, they build their hardware around the games. In the production stage they think "ok we want to do this with our next game, so what kind of hardware do we need to make in order to do that" Meanwhile the other companies make a insane technical piece of hardware and then later go "ok, now what kind of games should we make"
This is the reason why every generation Nintendo always comes out with a new controller for its systems, while the other companies have the exact same controller AT LAUNCH.

People do that with almost every thing imaginable and the majority of the time they get it wrong I still remember people labeling the first Killzone as a Halo "killer" we all know how that ended.

I don't see that as a good thing particularly with the 64 and Gamecube controllers which though they were good controllers were awkward as hell.
-
Hey guys I was wondering if I should get the Vita. Keep in mind I don't own a PSP and never have so I want to some PSP games for it. So should I?
-
I wanted a PSP for so long but after getting it I realized that there were no games that I wanted on it and haven't played it since.

For a second there, I thought I made this post. I have gotten some use out of my PSP tho, I've basically turned it into a media storage device to hold my music, which I plug into my computer via the DualShock 3 charging cable.

The only trouble with that now is though, that everyone has some great smart phone now and who wants to carry around a psp or vita for media functions? nobody
PSP's early life was plagued with basically lesser console ports and had nothing distinguishing about it. Later in life it seemed to get some better games, but they still felt like they were more of like an OMAKE, or SIDE CHAPTER if your talkinga in manga terms.
Its like if you wanted the REAL game, get it for the home system, if you wanted to find out what so and so did during those missing times during the "real" game then get the psp game. Or the psp games were like 2.5, or in between games.
DS had same problem with many games as well, just its hard to compete with like nintendogs, pokemon, and others. Basically nintendo games. Why do non nintendo companies feel the need to just put spinoffs or side stories on handhelds. its annoying
-
PSP did get some big games.
But they're all pretty much been ported to the PS3 now.
-
Dunno what you guys are talking about, I've played my PSP more than any other system I own for the past several years. Monster Hunter, Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, Dissidia, what do those have in common? Insane time-sinks. On top of those I've played a lot of the PSP's marquee stuff (Crisis Core, the God of War games, Chinatown Wars, etc.) and it's also solid. Trails in the Sky is one of my favorite games of the year, and I put a good 35-ish PSP hours into it.

It appears Square Enix is working on a unnamed PS3 and PS Vita RPG game
-
Of course they are, it's Square Enix.
-
I can't believe it's been ten years since I was excited by the prospect of a new square game.
-
Square-Enix is making a second game as well, tho it's probably multiplatform. All that is known is it's an original RPG geared towards the West and the one piece of artwork to come out looks very Castlevaniaish.
Interesting (potentially rumor) piece of news just came out for the Vita. Apparently the high price of the memory cards are being justified due to the fact that all Vita games bought off the PSN will be 40% cheaper than their MSRP retail copies, which at least according to Amazon and other sources will be $49.99. So Vita games will be something like $29.99 bought digitally?
Also, the Vita will follow in the PSPs footsteps by only allowing you to have a single PSN account tied to it at a time.

that doesn't make it justifiable at all. Digital copies SHOULD be far less expensive than physical by their very nature, given that they cut out middlemen and manufacturing. So the memory is still very expensive. And given that you're downloading a full ps3 level game, I'd expect them to take a ton of memory forcing you to buy quite a few memory cards or buy the really expensive high cost ones
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh yeah, its also been confirmed that Vita's ps3 remote play function will only work on ps3 games with the function built in, like the PSP did. So don't expect it to happen a lot

Fumito Ueda, Creative Director of Team Ico who brought us Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and the Last Guardian has left the team. It's rumored he's also leaving Sony, but that isn't confirmed yet. He has reassured fans that he is still working on the Last Guardian with his now former team, but it'll be his last title with them.
Wonder what future games from Team Ico will be like now, cause I always heard that each and every one was basically Ueda's baby.

i got the PSP at the wrong time , i realize that..but i got it mostly for the Kingdom hearts and Final fantasy series now that God of war and MGS PSP series has been put on the PS3 currently

Add Tactics Ogre onto this one too~ That was a awesome game.
-
I agree with that list - as well as Tactics Ogre.
Power Stone maybe (haven't played the PSP collection, but I've always liked the Dreamcast ones)
-
Yeah, tactics ogre is great. I kinda steered clear of fighters on the psp due to the controls, but since it's 3d arena, power stone may work. Great on the DC's old fat controller though.
-
I would recommend Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, but I'm trying not to. Eventually, this becomes a game for masochists.
-
Power Stone fails on the handheld because you can't get the party play of 4 players going… and its really a game that demands playing with friends. Same as Worms. Sure you can play it and enjoy it some on its own merits against dumb AI, but its just not the same if you aren't screwing over a friend.
I got Tactics Ogre months ago and its still eating my travel time. And I'm still only on the first playthrough, not even new game+.
Damn 100 level dungeon...
-
So is there no multiplayer? That would be disappointing…I always planned on playing it with my brother.
I still have both games for Dreamcast, but I was always interested in the PSP collection's bonus content (although it's probably not much - new weapons or something).
-
I've never even had a chance to use the psp wifi.
Everyone I know has a DS & only a DS. Even the rpg nuts.
-
I have four or five PSP buddies that I've played with in the past, both local and with ad-hoc. Two of them are my stalwart Monster Hunter buddies and the others are good for a game of FF Tactics or Dissidia once in awhile.
-
okay, so i read that the power stone collection does have multiplayer
the only one i could play with is my brother, but that's good enough for me
-

There is, but you both need copies of the game, I believe. (Or suffer insane download times per level.) And two PSPs, obviously. I'm not sure, I haven't really tried playing it since I got it. I just remember having issues trying to play it with a friend.
I had always played it as a party game, had a great time with it, and was immensely disappointed when I started playing it on its own. It just loses a lot without proper multiplayer.
-
I bought a PSP with the intent of hacking it (never did) and the desire to buy only 2 games, Kingdom Hearts (which my brothers bought, but I never got around to playing) and .hack//LINK, which never came out here -___-
-
Is there any PSN ID sharing? I just got a PS3 and my ID is Climb25 if someone want to add me

I think we had a post for it before. I have a ton of people from here on mine so :/
But here's mine again: robichoico

I find the best way is to put it in your signature, either in text or a trophy card. That way if someone wants to add you they can easily find out how.

Some dudes named a boat after the PS Vita and it sank when they tried some Atlantic challenge. Everyone is okay. But the name of it lol that is funny. Must be talling Sony the future of Vita.

No, just douchebags getting in over their heads.
-
So I just downloaded DC Universe Online and on top of that there are 15gigs worth of patch on top of that.
Anyone know if it's worth it? Regardless I'll be here all night.
-
Absolutely not. I spent the outrageous amount of time downloading and installing it (even deleting most of my installed games) then an additional half hour to login (you have to wait in line) only to play it for 2 hours, the first hour being designing my character. It is a plain boring button masher. The fact they were charging money for this thing before is flabbergasting.

Yeah I turned the game off expecting the amount of downloading progress to stay the same but NOOOOOOOOO~~~ my two hours of installation were pointless.
One day I will be kickin' it with Booster Gold and Swamp Thing I tell you.

Sorcery has a new trailer.
Probably the only PS Move game that has my interest.
-
That thing's still being made?
And yeah. The move is just a waste of time and money. I'm fairly sure the only reason it exists is to trick stupid people into thinking it's a Wii.
That being said. If Sorcery is as good as it looks there I'll probably buy.
-

I don't get what the point of it being move is most the time. Some like the whirlwind gesture creating a tornado is cool, but otherwise most of it looks like you just flick your hand to cast a spell and it homes in on the enemy on its own, like a sort of autotarget aiming.
Not saying it doesn't look fun, just saying after skyward sword where with how important 1:1 was in regards to fighting, this seems kind of "meh" in the "wand" factor. Gives off the vibe of Waggling, basicaly. Feels like Twilight Princess, where you just flick your wrist to attack. Nothing impressive motion control wise. Again besides the clip it shows of swinging the wand around your head to make a tornado. Otherwise how do you exactly AIM by flicking your wand? Has to have some huge auto aim assist for you in that field, which imo takes away some of the "wow" factor
-
Some more Sorcery Gameplay.

Was watching the one piece jump vesta thing and saw there is a one piece special ps3 coming out with luffy on it.
How does ps3 work? Its region free right? So if I get that, I can play every game I have, download any dlc normally ect?
Or does it get tricky having a japan ps3 and playing U.S. games and dlc and all that other jazz
-
Japan and US are the same region on Bluray discs so it wouldn't matter if it was region free or not, which I think for PS3 games it is, it'd still be normal.

so a US PS3 can play games from Japan?
i got a game i wanted to try but its only in japanese which is the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia.
