They hear what we think, as well. They read our minds.
I guess it's time to break out the tinfoil hats or borrow Magneto's helmet.

I love making a terrible post and deleting then realizing it was terrible and deleting it, but knowing the mods can still read it.
I love stalking people and realizing that mods can see through my invisibility cloak.
I love being creative with my Reports.

This.
Well actually it unnerves me (when I bother thinking about it). Makes me feel like they still know I'm stupid. XD

Oh and this too.
I love being creative with my Reports.
Ooooooooooh, now you're gonna get it~
Mods can't be bothered with my edits. I make too much. On purpose
And thanks for deleting my post. This is why I should remain an undecided voter in presidential elections.
I seem to recall an explanation that if you delete something before a mod sees it, then you don't get in trouble, but they can still see it? I actually kind of wish I hadn't learned that. It's weird…
its hidden away but yeah we can see it if we click on it. i think only we have the power to nuke a post into nonexistence entirely.
usually i don't bother with them because deleted posts are never quite as juicy as you'd might think, but it comes in handy sometimes if we need it.

The deleted posts show up as a bar in place of where the post was. If you click on the post, it brings it back up so you can see where it is.
This is called Soft Deletion, so it keeps the archive of it in place. If you remove the post so it is entirely absolutely wiped from existence, it's called Physically Removing the post and it requires higher privileges, depending on what powers the mods are given.
If I were a real mod, I'd probably restore self-deleted posts on purpose… if my fingerprints aren't left on it. I'm assuming admins have that kind of power. (I can edit things without detection -Jonas)
:)

Without the 5 minute thing? Sneaky.
Admins like Jonus have that kind of power everywhere, and potentially without limits–green mods have that power everywhere, yellows have that power (or any power for that matter) only in their subsection--and FTR I don't think its a full 5 minutes--its only like, a minute, I think (though I suppose it could be longer for greens than yellows, lol)--then we can still edit any post, but it shows the edit mark at the bottom with our names, just like for you.
Yellows, at least, cannot see regular edits--only deleted posts--and again only in our own sub-section. I dunno about anyone else.
As for reports, they are handled by whoever is first available with the power to do something about it--if indeed anything is necessary.
I think that about covers your questions thus far, huh?

I thought we had people under different ranks and powers that are still given higher powers without the labelling above the name.
E.g. we could have a senior member that still in fact has administrator powers?
Though I don't know why this would happen unless those staff wanted to take a step back from the work/title for a while. I only say this as I've seen the various hidden options on the vbulletin board than can be used here. I guess this kind of thing would only be typically used with some of the translators as they provide and often might need to moderate that section as they themselves work on it so much, without having to hassle mods and admins.
Still i'm not sure how its worked here with the various sections and whatnot. I guess this is more spawned from my intrigue of how the powers shift from here to irc when they join the chat and both the other way around. I always thought the roles and power would be the same here as it is on all aspects on arlong park sites, though this isn't the case. But i guess some of it is down to the people themselves turning down the role or not asking, or being suitable for it. shrugs
Would be cool to see some of the irc & fb folk having a bigger role, or a position at all in the forum.
votes foolio and solude….and that other guy on fb lol
So, mods like Jonas are like "Neo", while Green mods are "Morpheus"?
@Sonic:

Jonas isn't a mod, he's an admin.
@Badass:

No, that would be the young little girl at the end of the third movie.

Though you can still have a head admin to override other admins that may go berserk.

Uh. What?

I suppose.
This insight into the inner workings of the mods is really interesting, if not somewhat unnerving. I actually didn`t know they had the power to see deleted posts, even though it makes sense in retrospect.. Just a little stupid question, the red name with one star is for Senior members, right? Do they have any additional power or is the color change just there to make them look cool?
@Sonic:
No, that would be the young little girl at the end of the third movie.
I didn`t even bother with the third movie. Second one was disappointing enough.
Nope–just the star and the power to command respect, lol
We have no real power. We just look cool with our red names. lol
The coolest! .
Bigger inbox too. Even then, I can't manage with it. So much paperwork to burn. So little time
! You don't look cool.
! >!
It's like the ignore system! I ignored one person and was a bit annoyed to discover there was a giant grey box indicating his posts and that you could choose to see what it said. I removed the name because it seemed to draw my attention more than if I just quickly scroll past his posts. Then I discovered he had been banned.
I sure wish I had a bigger inbox. Is there a reason why it's 50 and not more (for regular posters)?

Don`t underestimate the power of cool.
(removed stuff about ignore feature) …Is there a reason why it's 50 and not more (for regular posters)?
On the mailbox size–You and everyone else, lol. I dunno what the official reason is, but I imagine it has something to do with the amount of space it takes for this many members to have boxes--there are a LOT of posters here. It takes a lot of bandwidth for it (remember though, that this is coming from me, a comparitively computer illiterate person, so take it for what it is.)
I got nothin' on the ignore feature and how it functions. I imagine that is the way it was written into the program used to run the forums, and while its probably changeable, I would doubt its a high enough priority for someone to spend the amount of time it would require. (remember, we're all giving our time, right?) LOL
Sai-chan--Seniors do get some mod powers over the tourney threads during the tourney if they help run it. That's called being an event mod, BTW, for those uninformed, lol.
@I:

Na, You actually did a good job explaining it :)
Well it's not a huge deal or anything. At least not for me. I'm confused why anyone would want to see a post from someone they ignored, though.
Don`t underestimate the power of cool.

This amuses me greatly considering I'm younger than half the forum. lol

Ah yes, the event mod position. I was sure Hiroy would take over the forum with his (old) new found power, but alas, he's proven me wrong.
… although I'm not so sure about next time.
:ninja:
Burgundy is such a horrible colour.
Would the admins ever debate with the seniors about other colours they might prefer? I know we don't have many others to pick from considering how many roles we have, but its an idea. I love the rainbow thing stephens got personally. Makes me wonder what other features you could have with the whole name/colour options like sparkles of animated names seen on other vbulletin forums.
Can someone tell me just how many varieties and options you have with this version? If not I could always try and link some pages or pictures.
Stephen got his rainbow name after (from what I remember) a lot of hard work. It was basically earned, although I can't remember what for…
As for name colors, there's
red (seniors)
yellow (section mods)
green
purple
blue (scanlators and such)
silver (admins)

Just being a legend i guess.
Green=Global mods
Purple is translators? I dunno. Its on the list on the staff page though
Purples are editors for the main site (yeah, that), I believe. Blues tend to be translators and info providers.
I know the colours and powers. Just unsure about how many other styles and cool options you have at your disposal, like the rainbow effect.
I think it hasn't been looked into by many others than jonas and brennen, though i might be wrong.
Would be neat to see some previews and thoughts from the staff if we did have a variety to choose from. Then its just down to which poor dude has to make it all happen….lol
I'm about to get some sleep but here's an example of the variety of things some of the other vb sites employed.
http://forum.ragezone.com/5341947-post12.html
I'm sure there's a variety of titles that can be implemented into the forum, but the real question is: do we need them? The current system seems to be working fine. o3o
Not sure those options are viable on a forum this busy, though, Smudge
@I:

I only thought it might be a nice perks for the admins and mods if they thought it would be cool. Not fussed really just curious to know how many options they actually have at their disposal with the new package.
I can't believe I just read all of the posts in this thread….......help.

Okay. Just ask one of the mods, and they'll gladly help you.
Can someone explain to me about group messages and articles? It's under the "what's new" tab.
Arent articles basically the stuff you read on the news page? Like, right now: "Episode 516
2 airing" by Crossword. Or Forum Updates or the News Roundup. You can comment on these things, but it isn`t like a thread. I have no idea about group messages though.
I think the staff need more cash bribes.
How does 1000 dollars sound?
Little do they know I'm paying in Zimbabwe dollars. Mwahahahaha!
The mods took out AP for a while because of this thread, they are evil….. I knew it.
I accept both cash bribes and stock in peter dinklage's career over the next few years
