Hells no! Watch them both. The OVA sticks with, the story the Tv series is a lot more stylish and has a far better soundtrack and the animation is good either way. The parts that where covered by both I like a lot more in the Tv series.

The Story eventually goes to hell and they run out of budget.

The final fight in the TV series is animated so poorly that there are large stretches of it where The characters aren't even moving and the still frames are basically clashing.

The Soundtrack was freaking awesome though.

The t.v series looked like generic anime crap. It didn't even have the same art style the manga has which is very noticeable since Kohta has a very unique style of drawing. Which is what I like about the OVAs since they look identical to Kohta's work.

Has Kouta announced if Drifters is being into an Anime yet? I'm pleased as punch they're finally finishing up the Hellsing OVA, but as short as the series has been running, a Drifters Anime would be amazing, too. Hirano's art is far and away some of my favorite in manga.

No, no anime for Drifters yet. They've gotta wait until more of the series is out first. Being a monthly manga, a weekly anime would catch up fast.

As for Hellsing, OVA VIII has some of my favorite bits that are going to be in it so I'm pretty excited about it. Level 0 Alucard especially!

Granted it's been a while since i saw it, but i thought the tv series was pretty decent.

But yeah after seeing the OAVs/reading the manga it becomes quite apparent that Helling isnt as fun sans the nazis, but honestly what is.

Start at OVA I and work your way from there.
There are seven out at the moment with no. 8 on the way soon.

Hellsing VIII Is out!!

I must say, the episode was truly spectacular! It covered everything up to Alucard being stabbed in the head by Anderson's bayonet and Seras screaming out "MASTER!"

The Dawn was also released on the extra disc. It only covered the first chapter of the manga, and ended with a "To Be Continued", so I think it's safe to say we're going to see the rest in the coming volumes.

We are going to be fansubbing both. So look for that in a day or two.

In the meantime, here's the creditless ending theme of the episode.

Sorry the subs are taking longer than anticipated. There are some odd errors, for some reason, a couple of the lines, only a couple, refuse to show up for me in an actual video player, only the subtitling program's previews. And one of my QCers is only seeing the first 10 minutes of the subs right, then the rest begin displaying too fast.

We have to figure out what's up with this, but as soon as we do, it's release time.

The OVAs have the production values of movies, so that's why they take a while to come out.

Them doing those Directors cut updates to OVAs 1-4 and the Tsunami in Japan REALLY didn't help matters on release time either.

I just got the rest of my hellsing volumes yesterday and to hear that OVA 9 is going to come out in feb next year, that is freaking sweet and did I read that right? was the dawn made into a OVA or is it being made into a OVA?

So judging by the way they are doing these OVA's this series could be completed in number 10 or 11. I say they could finish it off in OVA 10. OVA 9 could cover the little bit that was left over from volume 8 and the majority of volume 9. While OVA 10 could just cover what ever would be left of volume 9 and all of volume 10.

They already announced X would be the final volume.

According to the Japanese website, the series was produced in Seasons, that's why the Animation studio changed hands.

The manga doesn't appear as tho it will. But episode 2 of the Dawn anime is coming with OVA IX.

Hopefully, Hirano will write the rest of the story and the anime staff will finish it.

UPDATE: One month away from OVA IX's release date, we have FULL cover art for BOTH versions of the release, Standard AND Limited!

So OVA X raws are out. It looks like a solid conclusion. The most surprising thing was what looks like the trailer for a Drifters anime/OVA at the end of the supplementary Dawn episode.

That trailer was just a promo for the manga, there is no anime adaption planned whatsoever, especially considering that there are not enough chapter for that to begin with
