@Ivotas:
Why does the story behind it don´t add up? Morgan has been hypnotized to believe that he really defeated Kuro (instead of knowing what really happened to him). From his point of view everything is perfect. He defeated Kuro, lost his jaw by doing so and later Kuro got executed. He doesn´t know that it was a fake.
The details don't add up and form a coherent story if he tries to analyze or retell it.
He'd never remember, for example, how exactly he stopped Kuro, or how he could have tied him up with a (presumably) broken arm. And wouldn't the fake Kuro not really deliver properly if interrogated? I'd expect before spending millions of berries on a payout, they'd want proof that the man they've handed in is not somebody the bounty hunter's bribed or coerced to say he's a valuable man, or a corpse dressed to look like one.
And I think that that´s where everything went wrong with Morgan and his absolute obedience attitude. I mean I´m sure he thinks that he was only able to beat Kuro because he didn´t give a damn about his injury it did what had to be done. If he would know that he actually got owned that that he didn´t win with this injury I´m sure he wouldn´t have developed such an attitude. But that´s just my personal opinion and can´t count as anything objective.
I wonder how he'd behave if he weren't base captain, myself. I assume it's a power-drunkenness.
