^ Eh kind of on the fence about this myself everybody remembers how this worked for the few games that were ported from the PSP to the PS2.

Potential for Dissidia on a big screen with usage of a PS3 controller AND online play without the need to wire my console to a router? Topping it all off with ability to transfer save data?
I dig it.
-
So do I, which is why it hurts. D:
-
birth by sleep has to be port to the PS3. I chose a ds insted of a psp so I'm hoping they make the jump
-
Monster Hunter seems to be getting a HD remake.
-
This is what we were discussing. MHP3 was the first title in the lineup announced, but the two GoW games might as well be confirmed as well.
-
anyone else think that sony is just being stupid by releasing HD ports of PSP games to the PS3
I mean look at the new coming NGP. Why would I buy an NGP now, when most likely those games will get ported to the PS3 at some point, IF not already a simultanious release on both or a PS3 port going to NGP.
What does NGP offer besides portability? This new PSP HD games on PS3 has really turned me off of getting a NGP. Figure I can just wait for the games i would want to come onto PS3.
-
Yeah, everyone's saying that this move basically killed the NGP before it even has released. I'm sure Sony won't foolishly release NGP games on PS3 for years, but the consumer can't be sure and that's going to affect their purchase. Unless Sony makes a bold statement that NGP games will never come to PS3 then I don't see things going so well.
In the US and Europe, that is. The NGP will sell like hotcakes in Japan even if the games were to release on the PS3 at the same time. Japan loves their portable gaming.
-
Can't say I blame them. Portable games are predominantly consumed by younger players in the west, whereas most people in Japan commute on train/bus etc and have a way higher demand for gaming on the go. Why wouldn't they want to get the most buck out of their bang, and sell those portable titles to the west via PS3?
I think they've come to the realization that the PSP has been successful in the west mainly in metropolitan/urban environments where people take the bus/subway system to get around, and have a lot of commuter downtime. The rest of the country just doesn't have much of a need for something like that, especially with the progression of mobile phone gaming. This is their best solution.
-
Eh. They did it with the GTA games years ago. Put them onto the PS2. Can't say it's a bad thing to put them on the PS3 (As long as it's discounted. I'm not gonna pay more than £20 for say….God of War or Kingdom Hearts when I can just walk into a store and get one new for the PS3 for £15 at most.
Although the majority of ones I even care about on the PSP were the likes of Star Ocean, Breath of Fire, Tactics Ogre etc. Which I cant see them HDing.

Isn't there ground work for PSP emulation built into the PS3 hardware? I'd expect that if that is the case then these conversions will be way easier than you'd expect and theres a possibility for loads to get the treatment

You realize that portability is the major draw for any handheld to begin with? They're systems for commuting, plain and simple. They aren't really meant to be played at home, thats what the big brother home systems are for.
Nobody buys a handheld with the intent of just playing it at home.
-
… <<;
They really shouldn't release some great games exclusively on them, then!

This is essentially what I was going to write about this situation.
It's not like they're releasing ALL of the PSP's catalogue to the PS3.
But for us that don't have (or need/want) a PSP this is kind of nice.
Now if they only could make those PSP games in the PSN store playable in my PS3 >:V
-

And the Playstation should have Mario, Metroid and Zelda games?
Systems are going to have exclusives designed towards their hardware. Thats how it works.
Or maybe you just need to ride the bus more.

Sony just confirmed that the PSP remasters will not include trophy support. Welp, there goes any incentive for me to double-dip. I'll get titles in the PSP remasters lineup that I don't already own on PSP (or if there's a good tiv for the original psp copies), but I'm not gonna be rebuying titles I already own.
-
I'd love to see a port of Power Stone PSP as I never did get a PSP.
-
Tomorrow is when the store is suppossed to be back up, right?
-
Tomorrow is when the store is suppossed to be back up, right?
yes.hopefully it is up tomorrow …i miss playing Stacking and so close to get the platinum trophy
-
Here's hoping that with the return of the store, they don't make us wait to redeem the free games welcome back offer.
-
Bad news, ladies and gents. The PSN went into maintenance three hours ago and is scheduled to return at 3pm EST, but the store will NOT be returning today: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/24/playstation-network-scheduled-maintenance-today/
@kenji: Sony has stated that when the Store becomes live the free games will instantly be available.
-
Why do lots of people think that Sony is going to make a PS4 anytime soon? Sony has already come out and said that they haven't profited enough on the PS3 to warrant making a PS4.

Interesting, wonder what he is talking about probably his Tabbo game though some think he is mad about Peace Walker porting to the PS3 though doubt it.
-
Um…who? Nobody in this thread thinks that and the poll on gamefaqs had only a few hundred people expecting a ps4 versus the thousands that knew nothing was coming out. Sony has already gone on record saying they won't even think about it until 2014.

I know no one here thinks that but why is it lots of people on youtube do?
-
Because the general community of Youtube is retarded.
-
Makes sense. And they are definitely retarded.
-
I've seen the errors of my ways of using "retarded" in this fashion. Can't we just call them morons?
-
Yeah. I'd rather not insult the mentally challenged by comparing them to much of the low lives of the YouTube community.
Ah-Cha-Cha-Cha-CHA! Delicious!

Any news on potential free download games for whenever the fuck Japanese PSN is back up?
Not that it's going to be any time soon, but I would at least have something to look forward to.
Americans and Europeans are the lucky gamers for once… damn it all to hell.
-
Nope. The welcome back program hasn't been detailed for Japan. The PSN still isn't even up in Japan yet, let alone the store. There's conflicting reports as to why. Some sources are claiming the Japanese government is refusing Sony to allow the network online until they can prove they can't be hacked anymore, and some sources are claiming the server providers are arguing with Sony… which I think is unlikely.
-
Oh, the assembly is on Sony's ass about this whole debacle, that's what's holding things up.
I was just hoping for maybe a title announcement to see what would be available when it goes back up… which is looking like at least another month at this point.
Fucking hackers.
-
I don't think the PSP games for PS3 is any different than the PS2 games for PS3…
Why are we complaining again?
But yes, Dissidia for PS3, please and thank you.
-
Why have I only just heard about the PSP2? (NPG)
This thing looks cool. Even better then the 3DS from the specs… -
Yeah. Sorry about that.
-
Sony's E3 conference won't actually be 5 hours, this was the news sites running with what was only half information. The conference is actually going to be the same length prior ones have been, The 5 hours came from Sony allowing E3 attenddees to demo products for that long before they close the doors on them. The NGP will be playable doing this time.
Speaking of the NGP, people are pissed right now as it came out today that Sony has downgraded the stats that were originally released. The biggest being that they knocked the total RAM down a bunch. I won't pretend to understand any of it…
-
Well, here's Japan's welcome back packagae (it's crap):
When the PlayStation Store does return, PSN members in Asia will have their own PS3 and PSP Welcome Back packages, from which to choose two games for each system. And they're … different. Instead of games like Dead Nation and Infamous, PS3 owners can choose from the following five games:
- The Last Guy
- LocoRoco Cocoreccho!
- echochrome
- WipEout HD
- Hustler King
And for PSP, the choices include:
- Yuhshanokuseninamaikida or2 PSP the Best (What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2)
- Everybody's Stress Buster (Hot Shots Shorties)
- PATAPON2 PSP the Best
- LittleBigPlanet Portable
- LocoRoco -Midnight Carnival-
Users also get 30 days free PlayStation Plus access, Home stuff, free "select" movie rentals, and a month of "Platinya" membership for the weekly news program/cat minigame collection Weekly Toro Station.
-
I'd go for Wipeout as I haven't heard of the rest. Beside who doesn't like the simplicity of Wipeout?
Saying that I haven't played it since the first one on the PS1.
-
Wipeout is simple until you decide to go for the platinum.
Hardest game I have ever attempted to platinum. Never did get it.
-
I think wipeout apparently IS one of the hardest to plat (apparently the hardest is Star Ocean lol)
Personally I like the Japanese choices better. If only because I don't already own most of them.
Also. From some rumours it looks like Sony are downgrading the specs for the NGP in order to compete with the 3DS.
-
I don't blame them, considering the pricepoint of the PSP was a bit of a hurdle for a while, so any way they can stay more competitive, the better. Being a hardware powerhouse doesn't do any good if nobody can afford to get it.
-
Personally I like the Japanese choices better. If only because I don't already own most of them.
I have all of them except HustleKings. The part that is crap is that none of these are worth more than $15.
-
The Japanese PSN is now officially back online.
-
Sony just confirmed that the PS Store will NOT be up by the end of May (in other words, tomorrow) despite that's the date they've had set for a month now. Now they're saying "by the end of this week."
Also, more and more hacker groups are coming out claiming that they're going to join forces and attack Sony.
Getting sick of this shit.
-
Also, more and more hacker groups are coming out claiming that they're going to join forces and attack Sony.
Despite Sony being later and later with the Store, this is going to make people get more and more pissed with hackers as opposed to actually damaging Sony. At least, that's the case with me and anyone else I've talked to about the alleged plans to continue hacking Sony. Hell, I know a few people who'd actually buy more from Sony if the hackers did manage to cause legitimate damage, though more as a "fuck you" to the hackers than actually fanboying Sony.
I'm assuming the threats are just empty threats from the faceless "toughguys" riding on the initial hackers' coattails. At least until they actually are retarded enough to hack Sony again and prove themselves annoying douchebags.
-
It is.
They're just piggybacking the popularity of the whole thing.
It's just desperate cries of attention from their secluded, female-less, basement fortresses.
-
I really hope that's the case. I don't want Sony to have anymore problems.
-
Just finished Sly 1. Daaamn. That game was fun yet sooooooo cheap. The amount of times I died and had to restart a level cus of a trap etc was incredible.
-
You'll enjoy Sly 2. It's easily the best of the series and, with the exception of the final boss, it's not hard, just fun.
-
As long as there's not something as ridiculous as that Crocodile 'fight' I'm happy. That was so ridiculously annoying.
