Sad, but I'm not surprised by this, especially after the sudden, abrupt end of Double Arts.
Oumagadoki Doubutsuen

Damn you gotta love JUMPS editors with their fail edited dialog, fail to keep some of their authors in check, and best of all their love for axing anything that doesn't make the cut mercilessly with out giving it the chance to become something and at the same time purposely keeping stuff like kuroko no basket alive just because they wanted a sport manga in the roster. FUCK U JUMP! I wasn't an OD fan but it was much better than magazines recent crap.
-
Man, this sucks. I was really looking forward to the next arc.
I wish there was a place where dropped manga artists can go to publish their stuff.
-
today is a sad day.
i hope at least that the scans will continue to cover it all. i'm still back at chap 24 -
Lol, I think you need to be informed about how scans work.
-
this manga was just mediocre. i won't miss it.
-
Because the third fucking soccer manga we have now is so much more necessary, especialy when two previous ones bombed heavily. :getlost:
-
Lol, I think you need to be informed about how scans work.
i know how it works, but maybe you can tell me something more?
-
@No:

Didn't that football manga start like 3 weeks ago? Its necessary because it hasn't had a chance yet.
And don't judge the quality of a future series on those that came before it, not saying this new one could be brilliant but you never know.
Oumagadoki got cancelled because it simply didn't appeal to fans, otherwise it would have still been going, theres no point getting in a hissy fit over it, even if it was a pretty good series.
Same with Double Arts. Oh Double Arts.
-
@'ko:
i know how it works, but maybe you can tell me something more?
Before I do that, tell me what you mean by, "I hope at least that the scans will continue to cover it all."

I'll hissy if I want. There's nothing else I can do, might as well whine.

thats a good motto to live by.

i meant that i hope that red-hawk scans will continue to scanlate the remaining chapters from 24 to the last published (37) even if the series has been cancelled.

Ah, I see. I was the uninformed one. I thought that the scans were up to date. I apologize.

Chapter 36 raw. Remember the fusion with all the animals from the one-shot?
-
this manga was just mediocre. i won't miss it.
if you want mediocre read Engima it's basically another death note. An no i'm not knocking down enigma cause I like that series too.

Chapter 36 raw. Remember the fusion with all the animals from the one-shot?
can you find 35 raw?
-
if you want mediocre read Engima it's basically another death note.
Hardly.
The only similar thing to death note is that its a serious supernatural series that involves thinking to solve problems instead of fighting.
I know you're not knocking it, but Enigma isn't mediocre either.
-
can you find 35 raw?
I'll try, though right now there's a higher chance to find it in chinese.
EDIT:

Found it :)
-
D'aaaaawwww Little!Shiina wanted to play with the other kids but his rabbit form scared everyone away. And then he met his animal friends. I wonder what the last chapter will be like. I hope Jump will let them get away with a longer than usual chapter given it's the last and all.
-
Fuck I just started getting into this series (see new avatar) on a recommendation and now I learn it's cancelled. Goddammit.
Extremely derivative and aimless manga like BLEACH get top three status but creative and fun series like Oumagadoki get cancelled before the 40-chapter mark
Japan, your taste in manga is horrendous
-
Well not entierly, seeing what's the best selling manga in history, but yeah, prety close.
-
Japan, your taste in manga is horrendous
How can you even say that?
Check out the other series running in Jump currently and look at some of the high quality stuff that is getting released then say that.
Just because one series you like got cancelled doesn't mean the whole collective opinion of Japan is shit.
-
Well then what do you call every person who voted Shrimpo as the fan's most favourite character of Bleach then ?
Or the folks that stil buy HXH volumes.
-
@No:

I call them not every person in Japan for a start.

"Certain demographics of Japan, your taste is not the greatest" lacks punch.

Hardly.

I know you're not knocking it, but Enigma isn't mediocre either. An that's the only reason why it's popular it'd be nice for a change to see a series that can do both that and have fights not focus more on one than the other not saying OD did this cause it didn't but it really didn't have fisticuff fights.
I'll try, though right now there's a higher chance to find it in chinese.

You call the shrimpo voters morons
and the HXH buyers awesome people cause that's an awesome series, If it was going weekly it'd probably do better than most of the series running in jump. Not to mention I still haven't found a place that sells volume 14 for cheap since it's out of print an now sells for $45 an viz has it for $7 but when u click on the link the price goes to $99 fucking ridiculous, they can print out 2,3,4,5,1000000000000 editions of naruto but never HxH.

It is very good supporting a lazy bastard isn't it?
-
Him being lazy does bother me but since he can deliver in his story than it doesn't bother me an for the past 3 times he's come back the art has been great. So it's not like he comes back with 10 chapters worth of scribbles an if he did than i'd be pissed. I find Kubo to be a much more lazy artist than togashi. Cause all kubo does is draw characters while his assistants draw backgrounds an they didn't have to do that for a long period of time. Togashi draws his characters, backgrounds, background characters does all the inking, toning an what not. Now you tell me which one is the true lazy artist. The only thing that makes togashi lazy is that the series doesn't appear in jump as often as it should.
-
Well, I consider both of them to be lazy. Kubo is lazy in his execution, lack of background, retracing panels and so on. Togashi on the other hand is plainly just a lazy bastard spending more time playing dragon quest or whatever the fuck he does privately, and the jump editors allowing him to get away with it. He does chapters when he feels like it. If volume sales dropped because he can't do his job on a weekly basis then he would think to himself 'I can't get away with this shit', but because people buy them he carries on with the same crap.
-
U got a point there fezzik but I can't say I blame the guy. Does it anger me that he doesn't come out with newer material quicker? hell yes it does. I would like to see HxH finish an not have a rushed ending like YYH did.
-
The jump editors don't put any pressure on him, as a result he gets away with whatever he is doing. He should have just gone onto a monthly magazine, should be more manageable for him. He could spread the time spent on the chapter over a month and still play dragon quest to his heart's content, at least it will have a regular schedule. I enjoyed YYH apart from the ending, but have steered clear of HxH, because of his habits. Fans will carry on buying volumes whenever they are released, with that Togashi's habits aren't going to change anytime soon. Togashi just needs a wake up call from fans, preferably one that grabs his controller and smashes it through his lcd tv while at the same time screams down his ear that he has to get his act together.
-
It says something about this industry when crap like Bleach can continue but fun series like this get the axe.
Yet the Bleach topic is getting three to four times more traffic than this OD one, even if most of the people there purport to "hate" it.
As is the case with all series that get cancelled, or end, there's a small sub-community of regulars who compose the topic population, and they are the only ones who mourn. You won't be finding people in the Bleach topic feel anything for OD's passing unless they post here too.
If the problem is really that great…I think trying to introduce/persuade those people to come to this topic might have made a difference, instead of blindly bashing Bleach. I hate it too, but I've found suggestion a powerful tool for opening eyes.
I visited NarutoFan earlier today and was struck at how diverse and welcoming the topics/members are in its General Japan/Other Anime & Manga subforums. Compared to our shounen-washed subforum, NarutoFan is progressive and accepting of opinions despite their sin of liking a "retarded" series like Naruto. If NF is like the Lutherans following the Reformation, AP acts like Catholic clergy during the Inquisition.

Last chapter. I wish its author the best for whatever his next work will be about.

Maybe, but please don't put everyone in that list when many people here know to respect all opinion.
-
! Huh. Considering how abrupt the ending was, I think it was pretty satisfactory despite the rush. I loved Shiina's and Hana's faces after Shiina transformed back and everyone returned, lol. And it's pretty cool that the circus and zoo joined, I think. Plus, we finnaly get to see Shiina's human face. <3
Did anyone else cry while reading this? Because I know I did. But maybe that's because I'm a huge crybaby and I love this series.
-

There are alot of fans that hate the fact togashi does this but if volume sales don't stay consistant it get's kicked out of jump which would mean another rushed ending. But I do agree that he should move to a monthly magazine. An you should read HxH despite the authors faults cause to me that's not a legitimate reason to not read something.
-
Aww man, it's over. It's a shame that we'll never get to see more animal designs from the mangaka. It'd be cool to see his takes on a Botanical garden, insect museum, or dinosaurs :D.
Compared with the Aquarium arc, the Circus arc didn't seem to have the same impact as the previous one. The lack of new animal designs and characters might be one factor, or maybe it was because it was going for another 'battle' route.
By the way, would this series have any chance at getting an anime adaptation? Or is it it's popularity in JUMP that determines this probability, instead of it's volume sales. Has there ever been a case where a canned series in JUMP gets picked up again and continues?
-
I don't think that has ever happened.
-
Rising Impact (a golf manga) is the only time I can think of where a cancelled Jump series was picked up again.
There are several instances of cancelled series that got anime after the fact, though. (Hatsukoi Gentei, Busou Renkin, etc.)

Whelp, crossing my fingers in hopes that someday Oumagadoki will get an anime.
If there's an anime and it becomes really popular, is there any chance that the author might be able to add what he had planned for the manga, into the anime?
-

Series that are doing really well in Jump are only just getting adaptations (Sket Dance) and some that are doing relatively well in the magazine (Medaka Box) haven't even got one yet.
I'd say a series that didn't even run for 40 chapters before getting cancelled has about 0% of an anime.

I wonder how that series jumped back in. Get it? jumped back in…haha
-
is this still being scanlated despite the cancellation? i hope so….still pissed this manga got cancelled.
-
I don't think so, guess we'll just have to wait until viz decided to pick it up.
-
So WSJEiC tweeted about Horikoshi:
@Sasaki:
Lunch with HORIKOSHI-sensei, who recently ended serialization of Ohmagadoki-Zoo.
Already started working on new one shot manga, so we can see this very gifted mangaka`s new work pretty soon.
Hmm, very curious to what theme will this one-shot have.
And the cover for the
finalvolume 4.(sorry for bumping)
-
D'aaaw, that cover with Hana and Shiina is so cute. And… Toytoy's hair is red?! And the clowns's is white?! lol didn't see that comming. I can't wait to hear about this new oneshot he's got~ <3
-

Before the cover even came out, some fanart depicted Michinoke (the clown) with dark blond hair and Toytoy with pink hair. If only they allowed Horikoshi-sensei to a few more color pages T_T. It seems unfair to me since Magico (another new series) has had 4 chapters with color pages out of 13 so far.
There's still one more volume left to go, which will be released in August. Crossing my fingers that there'll be lots of extras in it.
Some random info that maybe interesting or not:
- Tallest to smallest regarding height: Shiina is 179cm (with ears he's 211cm), Isana is 176cm, Michinoke is 171cm, and Hana is 154cm tall.
- Isana is 27 years old; his birthday is on Feb. 1
- Michinoke is 28 years old.
- Kikuchi's birthday is on June 10.
- Suzuki's birthday is on June 12.
To anyone who actual has a copy of vol. 4, what's the picture underneath the cover?
-
Viz should pick this series up, only 5 volumes and I would gladly buy each one
-
Looks Like Red Hawk are still scanlating this manga so we may get to see the Circus arc in it's entirety
Chapter 25:
The mangaka's twitpic account, check out his fan art, it's freaking awesome:

Yeah, RH is still scanlating Ouma. It's just that the TLor (Mr Prince) stopped translating it for some reason–the cancellation I think. But now it's back. :x
Gep, that's awesome. WSJ characters in his style of art, cool.
-

http://twitpic.com/photos/onaraderu…lol, what the fuck did he think when coming up with such a retarded nickname... (="I fart")
But great find, really love it! Especially his sketch of Nami is AMAZING!

Yeah, I had some business but the main reason was I felt kinda fucked over by WSJ and its editorial department of assturds. - And I don't like getting fucked over. Aside from that two Cleaners quit on us and it looks like we're currently yet again in heavy need of someone taking care of that job. Good news is: it never even occured to me to NOT finish the series. You should finish what you started once, eh. Once we're through with the main story the Omake material for Volumes 1 through 5 will follow AND we're also gonna work on Horikoshi's new one shot in the upcoming Jump NEXT! Autumn, now if that ain't sweet news, I dunno what is.^^
