A scanlation group finally decided to work on this, so thats good news. Btw in case u didnt know, its one of Osamu Tezuka's manga (so I guess the thread title is justifiable).
Tho the manga title is Vampires, its actually about a young werewolf as the main character. And the 2nd main character would be none other than Osamu Tezuka himself
Its just on its 6th chapter, and I am also a new reader, but on around the 4th chapter I liked the story already. And since I searched and found no thread for it I decided to share this with fellow AP

I have a feeling that the first questions anyone will ask is "Why is the title Vampires?? The story is about werewolves!". I was wondering the same thing myself, so I read the forum on mangafox and the translator provided his theory about it. And so I'll try to explain it using my own words:
! 1. Its not a mistranslation, lets just get this clear and out of the way. Tezuka meant the manga to be titled Vampires
! 2. The manga is written in 1966, the first "popular" notion of vampires comes from the novel Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1897. But it wasnt until 1992 when Francis Ford Coppola made the move that soon influenced the way we think and see vampires, and by "we", I mean worldwide audiences. Before 1992, dracula/vampires were just these "monsters". So I think Tezuka was using the term very loosely to refer various "monsters" coming from Toppei's village (the main character, the werewolf).
! 3. The translator stated that he also hasn't exactly finished reading the entire manga, but I have a feeling that the story wont shift focus to the modern image of vampire we are all familiar with (disregarding the "vampire" image stemming from Twilight series of course). So just deal with Tezuka's version of "vampires".
! 4. This one is my personal opinion, and since its just on its 6th chapter, theres a big chance I am going to be proven wrong. The title doesnt actually refer to the main character. It actually refers to the antagonist human characters. Because I see the current antagonist as a sort of vampire, he takes advantage of people's weaknesses to make them do his bidding, and he never lets go of his victims. Which is comparable to the blood-sucking, manipulative characteristics of a vampire.
Well. that turns out to be a longer than I planned. Anyway, its great to have old mangas scanlated like this, I do hope the scanlation group will do another one of Tezuka's work
