huh. Looking at the release dates for stuff.
Looks like that 3 month window was complete bollocks. Unless Zavvi is correct and we are getting Zelda end of April it doesn't look like all these decent titles are out till late in the year.

Zelda seems to be coming out at the start of June
all intereviews i have read sound like zelda is out before e3
Zelda is definitely not out before e3. That was confirmed. The date I've heard is June 7th (I think) right when e3 is starting. None of the other nintendo published games beyond the 3 launch titles in NA are in the launch window
Put my Cyclo in earlier. It didn't run but it didn't brick
Supercard dstwo works fine after a update on the 3ds.
DS games don't look that good on the 3ds though.
Alrighty… Super Monkey Ball or Bust-A-Move... which should I get tonight?
I'm guessing the bricking will only start with the big update in May if it happens at all
DS games don't look that good on the 3ds though.
How so? Does the top screen just look weird when it's playing non-3D supported games?
I think it has to do with different screen size and resolution. From what I've heard, it streches them awkwardly. You can stop the stretching if you want though, but I've heard it looks too small if you do that or something, though that's probably just a trick of the mind
Playing Pokemon Plat on 3DS. Looks fine to me XD
Not getting a 3ds til summer. Can someone show me what the cartridges look like?
Ehm people so i got my 3DS yesterday cause it was my birthday and i got a game but im gonna get a other one instead because i dont really like that one D: What launch games are good? Im thinking about Street figther or nintendogs? What would do you think i should buy of the launch games :O?

Pokemon Black initially looked hideous on it for me; but I just had to adjust. Hell the battle sequences in Pokemon Black didn't look all that good on pre-3DS either. Pixels are huge, and I was actually like 'serious?' when I first got the game.

I heard it's gonna get dearer.

Launch Games are awful; just got Rayman and it brings back nostalgia.
I'd say, get Rayman, The Sims 3, or Nintendogs.

Those are the two games I am getting. Though I won't get my 3DS until tomorrow morning, so I couldn't personally tell you if they are any good or not. I have read many reviews of the launch titles and while most of the games got mixed to negative reviews, SSF4 and Nintendogs were generally well received, so I am happy I preordered them.
Honestly, I am pretty disappointed with the launch titles. None of them really catch my interest. I do see a lot of potential in some games that have been announced though. Hopefully Nintendogs and SSF4 last me until OoT 3D comes out.

Really depends on what you're into.
Nintendogs if you like cute things.
Pilotwings if you want nostalgia for 64 era or like flight sims
Ghost Recon if you want a game similar to Advance Wars
Samurai Warriors if you want to relieve stress by killing things (or enjoy Dynasty Warriors)
Ridge Racer for racing
Street Fighter for fighting.
Personally I got Samurai after not being too impressed with Street Fighter. But I personally advise picking up Okamiden, Radiant Historia, Ghost Trick or Pokemon Black/White on the NDS if you haven't already. Brilliant games that just came out (and aside from pokemon will probably be ignored)
I got my 3DS like an hour ago and have been checking it out. It is amazing. The 3D is way beyond my expectations. I can indeed get hard on the eyes though after a while. I got Nintendogs and SSF4. Later on, I will be playing SSF4 online. Here is my friend code if anyone wants to fight me: 5412-9893-9587
I'm putting on my coat to go out and pick up my 3DS right now. I preordered ridge racer and DOA. I'm eyeing samurai warriors and starfox 64 as well. Anyone know if those 2 suck or not?
Aren't Dead or Alive and Starfox not released yet?
I know DoA isn't out for a while yet here. Starfox is still TBA.
Samurai Warriors is great if you like the console versions or the Dynasty Warriors series.
Edit: Yeah. End of May for US and early June UK it looks for DoA.
Yeah they aren't out yet but people tend to find stuff out early ya know? And yes DOA isn't out yet. I'm in line at the store right now, eyeing pilot wings lol
@Cyber-Robin and SympathyX, I registered you guys as 3DS friends. I hope that is okay. I hope to be able to play against you guys in SSF4 some time. I will be on tonight. My friend code is 5412-9893-9587. Please register me if you want to fight me. I am not very good, but it should still be fun.
I refuse to buy SSFIV Because I have yet to figure out how to play the one for my ps3. I'll buy it used in a few weeks/months probably. Also I bought Pilot Wings, lol.
I aint been on Street Fighter since Friday lol. Too busy with Samurai Warriors.
I'll add ye and we can play sometime tho.
Aww man samurai warriors isn't availible at my gamestop. Sadface
Ok here's my 15 minute review of the 3DS.
1.Initial reaction-It's tiny…
2.Holy shit nintendo isn't playing you need to set this thing up before you can go to the homescreen
3.I'll put it at Full 3D
4. Bad Idea
5. Damn ninten do is covering their ass, there's a big yellow warning sticker on the home page that opens the health and warnings info. Which is a good idea i think
6. There's parental controls that let you control how much 3d you use?
7. How does that work when you turn the 3d on through a button on the side?
8. Where's the stylus!? Fuck it lets put in Pilot wings.
9. Oh there's the stylus....Nice i loved this on wii sports resort
10. 5 minutes later AHH wtf my eyes! This 3D is terrible!
11. Oh wait I was holding it wrong.
12. Thats much better.
13. This is the tits!
14. Ok it still hurts a little bit let me try it without my glasses.
15. Nevermind let's not do that ever again.
16. Maybe if I turn the lights off.
17. Suprisingly thats much better.
18. This is the tits!
19. Ok now let me try without the 3D.
20. Still tits!
All in all, 7/10
Pros: Great interface, great games so far, screen is suprisingly big, better location for the stylus.
Cons: 3d DOES hurt your eyes(I just thought i'd be another to conferm this)
Small size makes it seem easily breakable.
You must have sensitive eyes. My 3DS should ship to me later this week, but when I played it at a demo station I didn't have any trouble at all. Even at full 3D.

Sorted matey.
Quite liking SSF4. The control scheme makes it ridiculously fucking easy. The missions are too easy with this.
I'd recommend people to pick control scheme B and change one of the touch moves to be throw. If you have to get rid of a move then make it the Hadouken motion one. That'd be the easiest one to pull off anyway. Dont need a touch button for that.
Only thing thats annoying with the friend codes is that it doesnt tell you when you've got an add request. If they could make it a bit more like XBL for the friends interface then they could be on to something.
I was thinking the same thing. They coulda put one of the notifications as a 'so and so has added you.'

Were you playing Pilotwings? Because trying to see the entire island in the background with the vast array of different colors seems like it'd hurt anyone's eyes. I doubt I have senstive eyes since i've seen must be 10 movies in 3D in the last year and none of them gave my eyes any trouble at all. Thats not to say the 3D on the Ds is bad however, i easily could have chose to contiue in the 3D setting for longer i just chose not too, however it's a simple fact that prolonged exposure will begin to strain your eyes and I was just conferming that there is strain. If when you get yours you feel no such strain please let us know otherwise.
It's different on each game. I played for some time on Samurai Warriors in 3D and no problem. (Tho keeping the 30 mins + 15 min breaks rule going) Although I admit the cutscenes in 3D are kinda dodgy in it. (and just turned the 3D off then.)
All I can suggest is keep adjusting while you are playing. What may be working 10 mins ago may not be now. Or you may have adjusted the the slider slightly.
One thing I am thinking is to leave this about 30 mins before attempting to drive. While I have had no problem with the 3D I have sometimes felt a lil weird after playing.
Anywho. Someone was asking for a comparison between game cartridges. So I thought I'd post this pic I took:
[hide]
Did comparison between boxes too. UK Game Box (Okamiden), US/Canada Box (Radiant Historia) and UK 3DS box
I've had no problem keeping the 3D on full.
Not so much as a headache or anything like that.
I got my 3DS a few hours ago along with Ghost Recon. I love the system. The 3D seems to work great for me, and the AR games really are great tech demos. The power of the system shines through when you play them and it's glorious. Ghost Recon seems really fun too. The 3D in the game is very noticeable and looks great, but doesn't affect gameplay, like figured.
As for the eyes. The 3D doesn't hurt my eyes at all. It does, however, tire them out pretty good. Keeping up with full 3D taxes the eyes, and I can feel that they're a bit tired after 2-3 hours of gameplay. Tired is different from painful, though, and I assume that it'll go away once I get accustomed to it (like calluses on fingertips).
Yeah. I find that the first few minutes are always the worst. And after 10 mins or so my eyes adjust to the 3D.
Anyone play Face Raiders yet? It is hilarious and pretty fun. The AR card games are amazing too. I played the archery one with the dragon.
I've been contemplating doing the DSi XL trade-in for $100 off the 3DS.
But I know I don't presently want any games out for it.
I am a bit torn, because I'm not sure if this sort of trade-in deal will last that long.

Face Raiders is awesome when you use photos like this
!
I wasn't planing on getting my 3ds yet, but the trade in decide me. Got it and SSF4 and quite happy with it.
3d working pretty well for me. Normally it gives me a headache or just doesn't work, but then I only tend to play for a while at a time.
Love the move select on SSF4. I'm horrible at remembering the controls so that makes it much easier.
I'm interested in this system,
but I'll never buy the first generation of a Nintendo portable again, fuck you
I'll get 3DS lite instead.
The Augmented Reality games are fantastic. Bar question mark, What do you use the other cards for?
You use them to make nifty little pictures.

I fared somewhat worse, I was only able to play through the tutorial mission before I had to stop.
Hopefully my eyes get used to it or somesuch, as it was cool while it lasted.

if your going to say wait, at least don't make yourself sound stupid by saying 3ds lite
the 3ds is as small as any ds right now, if anything it wiill be same size or larger. it is not going to be a "lite" version
so at least say 3DS XL or something
It's smaller than the DSi
The only reason I see to wait for a new model is hope of better battery life. But apparently the 3DS battery is user replaceable so I expect to see high capacity batteries being sold by 3rd parties anyway.
Form factor wise the 3DS already seems great. That wasn't true with the orginal DS.
Can someone tell me what this trade-in thing is? And would I be able to trade in an original DS System for a price cut on the 3DS?
@Badass:

You answered your own question that's what the trade-in thing is.

Right, but I've heard of people trading in Dsi's and Ds Lite's. Would I be able to trade in an Original DS?
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently it's only for Ds Lite-DSi XLs.

GameStop has a tremendous deal: According to the company's website, the retailer is offering $50 worth of trade-in value for a DS Lite, $75 for a DSi, and a heaping $100 for a DSi XL. So if you hand in a DSi XL, you're basically getting a 3DS for only $149. DS is out of the making so it wouldn't apply to trades.
^ He doesn't have any of those I think.

I have a DS Lite, but I didn't want to trade that in. I might, though, if I can somehow make 200 dollars.

DSi XLs get the largest discounts. Maybe I should buy one and trade it in just to get the 100 dollar discount.
What.
Don't XLs cost more than $100? I know in the UK they're still about £140 or so
