There was a Dragionball evolution review? Link please?
-
Funny review, but frankly I thought the Dragonball review was funnier. Maybe because they dragged more people into it.
-
I dunno, Satsuki.
Did the Dragonball: Revolution review have Todd in it?
Milking my fandom for all it's worth. And I was going to comment if RolloT was in DB:R's review, but he was. REPRESENT! -

Or maybe because the movie was worse. Yeah I said it, Dragonball Evolution was worse than Last Airbender. And I'm a huge fan of both series but comparing DB's 20+ years of exposure to Avatar's 5 or 6 there's just no excuse for the DB movie to get SO many things wrong.
Also the sexist woman alive does a lets play of yu yu hakusho the ps2 game.

But yeah, she has a nice figure.
And by "figure" I of course mean boobs :ninja:

Personally I liked the script a bit better for The Last Airbender review, but oh God is Dragonball Evolution a better movie to review. DBE really falls into the so bad it's good category as so many of the effects are just so cheesy and stupid that you can't stop laughing at them. TLA on the other hand is ungodly boring. It's actually rather impressive that they took a series about a kid who can summon hurricanes at will and made it painfully dull. I think beyond casting white kids to play ethnic characters the fact that he took an entertaining kid's show and made it this bland is M. Night's most heinous crime.
But yeah, really glad people liked it. Spent so much time on that review that it's a relief to finally have it out. Oh, and big props to TitS, Jesu, and Y. Amazing comedians those people. Jesu especially.
-
The girl really knows how to work her voice for a joke.
"That's like putting Popeye in cage of spinach!"
Probably my favorite line simply because of its delivery.
Also, I really need to watch more of JewWario's stuff. He's pretty funny.

I'm a little surprised Todd was in it. I didn't even think he watched stuff like Last Airbender.
It's a shame Paw wasn't dragged into it, though. Would've liked to have seen his comments on it.

In an interview, Todd confessed to be a huge movie buff (he especially loves horror movies, especially bad ones IMO). Half the reason he's a music reviewer is because there are already so many movie reviewers on TGWTG.
Although, I'll admit, I'd never imagine him watching Last Airbender, namely due to his confessed disinterest (not dislike) of anime in general. And the "so which one is Goku" line killed me.

Paw, Roses, and Phelous would have all been great inclusions.

Maybe Todd can team up with Phelous or Cinema Snob in the future. Nyahahaha.
-
Cinema Snob, Phelous, and Todd in the Shadows review Troll 5… hopefully they'll show movie footage this time.

Troll 4 doesn't exist, that was the whole joke.

That's because he isn't JO and Todd are not Airbender fans, and I'm not really a fan either. Nik is the only guy in the video who's a big Airbender fan which why he's the one commenting on all of the inaccuracies. I've seen scattered episodes throughout the series, and I think JO has only seen a couple of episodes. Todd's never seen the series at all.

How can you mention Todd reviewing a movie, and NOT include Obscurus Lupa.
"Why haven't I blocked you yet?"

I assumed as much. I've seen a few episodes, and the show seems pretty good.

Sure it does, I have a copy in my drawer.

Yeah, judging by the reviews, Evolution was definitely way worse. If only for the fact that The Last Airbender at least resembled the TV-series in some ways… Except being completely soulless. (Note: I haven't seen all of Avatar, but from the review, I could recognise several things I do remember seeing in the show.) Which is still far better than the laughably awful trainwreck known as Dragon Ball Evolution.
-

Last Airbender is the best american animated series of the past decade, without question. Make it a point of watching it. In order.
Justice League (which had 15 years of DCAU behind it), Kim possible, and the all too brief Spectacular Spiderman are the only other real contenders I can think of quality wise.

Don't forget the Venture Bros.

I've always considered watching it, to be honest.
Justice League and Kim Possible are quality. Love both of those shows. Wished I watch more JL before it KIND OF died. It's still around to an extent, but the show was great. Kim Possible, I kind of watched religiously.

I'm pretty sure i've seen every episode of Kim possible and i enjoyed it a lot but i wouldn't have considered it one of the best american animated series of the past decade. Care to expound a bit more on that?

It's cool to actually get a reply from someone in the vid but i have to ask, are you a diehard DBZ fan? Because while i agree that the last airbender was boring I can't imagine enjoying Evolution for the fact that… well i'll quote someone else "It was the most egrigious ass raping of a franchise ever."
I can only imagine getting more and more pissed off as the movie goes on due to the inconsistances, rather than laughing about the bad cgi and such. While Airbender comes off as a failed attempt to make an avatar movie due to some bad decisions such as 3D, Whitewash etc. Evolution comes off like they never had any intention of giving the fans a dbz movie, they just wanted to cash in on the franchise and make a quick buck while trying to appeal to the high school drama movie crowd. So i can see enjoying evolution more if you aren't a fan.
Now I don't know if reviewing is largely different than just watching (I wouldn't know, not being an internet reviewer) but for a dbz fan watching it is a horror.
Also this "I think beyond casting white kids to play ethnic characters the fact that he took an entertaining kid's show and made it this bland is M. Night's most heinous crime."

Can you think of a show in the past decade that was simple enough for children to understand and happily watch, that had decent jokes for both the young and the old, managed a teenage outlook without being annoying, manage a handful of villains with concepts that are clever but not too clever, and manage its series by allowing a viewer to watch any episode without being confused as to what is happening on the show.
I mean, the villains are great. Anyone can pick up and watch the show. The jokes ranged from silly to hilarious ("Once the Christmas season is over, I'm going to open a whole bag of freak on all of you!", all said with a smile on his face). Each episode was pretty fun, and you generally had concern as to what would happen.
Few shows manage all of that.

I'm not neccesarily gonna disagree with you but I'm put up a short list of shows and you tell me where they rank in terms of your criteria.
Jackie Chan Adventures
X-Men: Evolution
Static Shock
Invader Zim
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
Codename: Kids Next Door
Teen Titans
Xiaolin Showdown
Danny Phantom -

I thought people around here would be more hostile towards it.

Dang, I still need to see Last Airbender (the TV series, not the movie). I'll have to pick up the DVDs at some point.
Anywho, Paw reviews The Sound of Music. A movie so extensive and so full of songs that he had to divide the review into two parts. Here's the first part.

No, I do too.
I love the Sound of Music, but I adore Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins has better music, animated penguins, and Dick Van Dyke. It wins out easily.

Very, very true. Love those penguins.
Mary Poppins is far more enjoyable, while Sound of Music is much more food for thought.
I have to say, first time I watched Sound of Music, DEFINITELY didn't know it would turn out the way it did in the end. Namely with a certain minor character. Although, nothing surprised me more than "Life is Beautiful", but that's a story for another time. >.>

-
Okay.
That was disgusting. And pointless.
It kinda makes me sick.
Realy sick.
Jesus fucking Christ.
-
Damn it, why can't that movie just fade into obscurity already!!
-
Maybe cause it came out last year ?
And my god, no sequels !
-
The beautiful thing about the Human Centipede?
It's medically accurate. The most disturbing thing?
It's medically accurate. That movie holds a dear place in my heart, because out of all the horror movies I have ever seen, it's the only one that I almost quit on because it was too much.
So sick. So disturbing. So great.
It has become the source of bets with my friends. Instead of putting money up, loser has to watch this movie. They also have to finish a platter of food while doing so.
–---
Hmm, not my favorite Phelous review.
Maybe it's because I've actually been lost in the woods with a group of friends when none of us had signal on our cell phones, but I don't get annoyed with the woods scene at the beginning. I mean, that's exactly how we were all acting after being out there for an hour in the dark -- whiny and bitchy.Of course, when we found a road we actually followed it...
That was also the last time we went deep into the woods at night to film a scene....
-

A physician and critics in Eastern Cynic and Film Threat have dismissed Tom Six's claim that the film is "100% medically accurate" as "rubbish", "patently ridiculous", and "ludicrous"
Take of that what you will .
-
That's interesting. Everything I've read, states that the second and third member could live for years like that with an IV drip, and that Six worked with a doctor while writing the movie to get everything accurate. That guy vouched, so…
I think that with this movie people don't seem to look past the mouth to anus factor.
I mean, this film did win 4 best picture awards on the festival circuit, including a huge win at the Screamfest Horror Festival which is the biggest award an independent horror film can win.So yeah, I adore this movie. Simply because it excels at what it sets out to do: push the audience to its limits. This movie is one of the most hated, yet revered, horror movies in a long time.
I know I'm probably going to be the only person on this site who actually likes it, so I figured I might as well say way....
-

There's no need to.
And is it wrong that I wish the writer/director would have keeled over and died before he could make this atrocity ?
-
You need to look pass that to realize one small fact:This is a gross out movie, simple as that, only it doesn't do it with gore.
What's the point of a gross out movie if it doesn't repulse you?
I give the director tons of credit. Not many people would have the balls to make a movie like this.
Also, Phelous gives the doctor a lot of shit for not having any real motivation for making the human centipede.
Last I checked, insane people don't always have a reason for what they do. It's highly obvious that he is insane, that he's not all there. -
Mengele had at least a basic scientific motivation at times.
This movie has a doctor doing worse….things then fucking Mengele, without a motive.
-
Did lil ol Michael have a motive to kill his sister and then hunt down Lori, killing a bunch of randoms along the way?
Nope. He was just crazy.
Like I said, I know I'm going to be in the minority with this movie, and I understand why, so I'm not trying to convince any of you it's a good movie…
-
Actually that's just shitty writing.
-
No, it's lazy writing. They could come up with a more elaborate reason than "he's crazy" but that's not really point of the movie. And why that way of thinking won't ever produce a great movie, it will produce fun slasher films, and disturbing gross out films.
Motive is probably the most unimportant thing when it comes to a horror movie.
And yes, there is a difference between lazy writing and shitty writing.
The latter would have been if they had tried to establish him as something other than a psychopath, and failed miserable at having his motives make sense.Turistas is a great example of shitty writing. And Halloween a great for lazy writing.
-
I don't think I've had this man dork freaks in one night.
Paw had a live Q/A Stream that got so side tracked, that Nash, Roses, Todd, JewWario, and some others came on. They constantly got side tracked in the discussion.
Freaking awesome. And Paw said my username, "Insider2000". Completely caught me off guard since I asked a question in the chat that I didn't think he'd answer (he was answering questions from the forum). Funny surprise.
God I'm a loser.

It's insanely depressing that this is what Horror has degraded to. You literally act like horror is some special kid in the movie class that is all about blood and gross outs.
You're not really a Horror fan so much as a slasher one. And for the love of fuck, acknowledge the difference here.
-
The state of the modern "horror" movie–as pretty much all of Phelous's body of work can attest to--is absolutely pitiful. Is it possible for there to be a single fucking modern horror movie where the protagonists are NOT extremely stupid? The two girls in The Human Centipede did absolutely everything EXACTLY wrong. Jesus lord in heaven.
Also, that movie's single purpose was to exhibit a single gross-out gimmick. No real consideration for characterization or anything that might make a movie enjoyable for viewers. Nope, just shock value. Not even good shock value. The movie is literally completely worthless.
