I live in Portugal, does anyone know a way I can help(donate money or something)?
I really want to help in anyway I can.Iceborg – many of the donation sites that have already been mentioned can be used from most countries, but if you haven't got a way to pay for things online, then wait a few days and the Portuguese newspapers should soon start mentioning places where you can donate locally. I did a quick check for you of some online Portuguese papers, but couldn't find anything yet (I only know about 3 words of the Portuguese language, and a few of your legendary football/soccer players names -- so my searching wasn't very efficient, but ...)
Good luck!
Here's a start:

Not sure if this is relative to anyone or not, but I spoke to my friend this morning. He is in Okinawa and said the tsunami didn't even reach them. So, if you have friends or family in Okinawa, they should be safe.

At risk of sounding insensitive Pearl Harbor and the US in general are not the thing to compare here.
-
Are aftershocks still being experience now?

Strong shakes in the red areas as far as I can tell. I can't update the first post since I'm not a mod in this area, but it's a good idea.
-
Thanks SDT.
Did they give a some sort of reason why the sea water appeared black in color? Was their an oil leak after the quake?
-
Crossword is the only Mod from this area currently online so someone could PM him to come over here and edit the first post O: (Steven maybe to not have a bunch of people PMing him)
Nvm there he is XD

Thank you Ranegadesoul for the links, and Crossword for putting then in the first post.
-
I'm watching FujiTV and in the corner it says "1700 Hito" which prolly means that there are 1700 people dead…

It's up to you, Crossword, but if you'd like you can include the drive we're doing with GlobalGiving and the marathon fundraiser we're holding Saturday-Sunday next week. We've already raised $900 today alone (thanks guys).

Talking/complaining about ignorant comments isn't going to to anything but spread ignorance.
If you see an English report that says, "MELTDOWN! THREE-MILE ISLAND REDUX!!!!?", avert your eyes.
The spokesman just finished his morning briefing.
The seawater plan is working.
Situation is stabilized for now.
Devastation of towns is more worth your concern/attention. Towns we didn't even know the names of yesterday are being reported from this morning that have been wiped away as well.
If you're reading from Japan consult your TV's disaster information feed for donation centers.
the 1,700nin figure you're seeing is a combined CONFIRMED Deceased/Missing figure. This figure is now moot but they continue to run it to avoid panic.
There are as many as 10,000 missing from a single city, the difference is they have not been 'confirmed'.
-
I'm glad to hear that the reactor plan is working. Is their any information on how many people are working on the reactor and the affect this work is having on their body?
-
The seawater is working? Thank goodness. And thanks for all this info, Greg. :)

Can't we just ignore those idiots completely? Half of the thread is people getting pissed about these comments. The mods will deal with this.
Good to hear some "real" news from someone in Japan. At least the nuclear danger seems to be avoided.

It's great to hear they're finally getting it under control. I'm a bit shocked about our local newsstations here who were claiming there has been a meltdown for the last 2 hours. :wassat:
Also yeah, ignore that troll it's obvious he just posted to piss people off.
-
I think everyone should see them for what they are. Let's see their true colours. Worrying about their precious manga schedule in the time of a deathly quake.
-

Dead or missing. Not confirmed dead.
And it's "nin".Don't worry, you won't be seeing him around here again.
Actually, I think he should be forum permabanned.
That was absolutely inexcusable even for a first offense. -
Greg already addressed that one Bluebeard.
How cold is it in Japan anyway? single digits or below zero?
-
i don't think a perm ban is the right solution. this is a dire situation but children just won't know that, and so they create jokes about it. the best thing to do is to let them know it's wrong to joke about these things and ban them from this thread

Uh, he's 16. I'm 17.

That was absolutely inexcusable even for a first offense. For what it's worth I must agree. At least those who asked about Oda's safety, at least cared about someone other than themselves, whether it was a selfish reason or not.
It's nice to hear some of you are all getting good news. Now just hoping that the situation gets completely under control soon. Hope for good news to come to all of you who still await info on those you care about in Japan. And hope that as many of the missing people as possible are found with as little harm done as possible.
-
Oh yeah that is pretty inexcusable
anyway for those who play Metal Gear Online or wish to play it later.
Konami have shut off their servers worldwide to save power
_Following Friday's Tohoku earthquake and tsunami disaster, power companies have been asking consumers to conserve electricity, particularly during peak hours. Konami is doing its part by suspending service on Metal Gear Online.
A post today at the MGO official site says that service will be suspended temporarily in an effort to alleviate potential energy shortages.
The Kojima Productions Twitter posted English versions of the service message, so this may apply to the game outside of Japan as well. MGO players should check for themselves_
i have confirmed that they have shut it off worldwide.
im sorry if this has already been posted.
