You need to trade ten Pokemon for it.
Pokemon's Fifth Generation
-
-
"Do you want to add Reshiram to your party?"
No.
"Are you sure that's OK?"
I lol'd.
Also, I love the fact that I didn't memorize the English names this generation around. I make so many type-match screw ups because its all so new to me. Really is like starting Pokemon all over again. Especially with the gates before the Victory Road.

I love that feeling too. Didn't know a single english name before starting, so every time a trainer is about to switch to something with a name I haven't seen before, I have to try to guess its types from the name alone. Most aren't too hard, but Karrablast threw me for a loop. I thought it would be the evolution of Roggenrola.
-
Just finished the 3rd gym. My team is lvl 25 Servile, lvl 24 Blitzle, lvl 20 Sandile, and lvl 16 Darumaka.
Currently in the forest, getting Darumaka up to speed with the rest of them.
-
A DAY ON:
Emboar (Ryne) - was around lvl 30ish I THINK, now lvl… 50... I have been using him the most and kinda neglecting the others...
Audino (Audiano, lvl 33 after daycare and exp share)
Ducklett (Ducklett. meh. lvl 32, got the exp share til it evolves then Drillby gets it.)
That drill mole... (Drillby, lvl 24)
Deerling (Nosaes, lvl 23)
Liepardorwhateveritis (Catrafal, lvl 21)Victini and Patrat (Mutori and Vytaratti) are in day care to boost lvl em ;D it works real damn well, srsly.
what gym am I on?
trying to reach 8th now lol.
thought 5th would be hard with a fire PKMN but annihalated him B)
next was also easy after using Heat Crash (Emboars are heavy feckers so it works well) and then the ice one was CAKE. CAKE I TELL YOU.
I DID IT WHILST WATCHING SCRUBS, AND THERE WAS CAKE.
AND MUFFINS.EDIT - my pokemon got Pokerus :)
joy. -

HOLY SHIT! My first ever Shiny that wasn't Red Gyarados.
Shiny Basculin (Red Stripe type). Got it while training my Zebstrika.

Are you sure it's shiny? Basculin has 2 forms, one with a blue stripe and one with a red stripe. And each form has a shiny form. Here:
-
Positive. Has a star on its stat screen and I caught the sparkle when it appeared.

Oh, congrats then. Just had to be sure. I remember people being confused about the alternate form when the games first came out in Japanese.

Burgh's gym was just a ton of fun, mostly cause I decided to not "Tepig him" in one go. It essentially went as such:
-Tepig defeats Whirlipede, Burgh wastes both of his potions to support the spinning thing to no avail.
-Lillipup gets hit by Sand Attack by Dwebble before Roaring out Leavanny. Can't do anything else because Take Down keeps missing thanks to that one stupid Sand Attack.
-Tepig destroys Leavanny (though it did use Protect once and not it's so-called special move Struggle Bug…I learned my lesson after the mess with Lenora)
-Tympole annihilates Dwebble with one Bubblebeam, evolves into Palpitoad. -
Came home today and saw the games waiting for me in a package
Starting out with Black version:
Dewott Lv.19
Herdier Lv.17
Pansear Lv.16
Cottonee Lv.16
Pidove (Male) Lv. 17Beat Cilan and Lenora, but each battle was really close. I stopped in Pinwheel Forest with the Team Plasma business.

I'm giving serious thought to ditching my starter…is that legal O_o
I just don't see many typing advantages for poor ol Smugleaf. And that cute lil Bug/Grass thing seems to do things better, plus it's got a second type.
-
I'm giving serious thought to ditching my starter…is that legal O_o
With the exception of Charizard, I almost always end up ditching my starters eventually, usually right after they hit their third form. They're… kind of boring and overpowered, and you just know in the back of your head that EVERYBODY has used them, and you start the game with them, and there's inevitably something in the wild with the same type I find more interesting.
Not unusual at all to ditch them eventually.
-
Got my games! :D
My Lillipup and Oshawott are extremely cute. Too bad I'll have to ditch Lillipup somewhere in the game.
-
Elesa…was a pain. And it wasn't even her Zebstrika that made me fear her...it's those stupid flying rats! I went into it thinking I could use Petilil, but didn't realize they were part-Flying...and had Aerial Ace with their Electric moves. Nearly my entire team was wiped out until I got to her final Emolga...I thought I could just do a battle of wearing her down until she ran out of Aerial Aces, then try a Sleep Powder/Magical Leaf (or Giga Drain) combo...the problem is she just kept throwing Aerial Ace...and she never ran out of it! Ended up using my final Revive on Palpitoad...and that little guy saved my life: immunity to Electric (even with Water primary) and a destructive Uproar and the 4th badge is finally mine. (and without even having to fight her more than once)
-
@Zoro's:

No you don't. For a start of the game critter, its actually REALLY good. It learns some good moves and does some real damage.
-
Clay has now replaced Giovanni as my favorite gym leader.
If only because I hear his lines in Johnny Cash's voice.
-
I thought Clay was annoying XD
Although I suppose I don't have a fave Gym Leader. The Flying Pilot was pretty cool I suppose.
I'd imagine I'd probably like some more if we got the chance to battle them again post E4 (or even battle the other two gym leaders in the first gym)
-
Managed to beat the game today =D And I found and captured a shiny Heatmor ^_^
My team was Chandelure, Samurott, Reuniclus, Gigalith, Scrafty and Galvantula.
I'm preparing another playthrough with Mienfoo, Axew, Ferroseed, Larvesta, Golett and Archen. It will be amazing!
My favorite gym leader was totally Brycen, I love his outfit, type and attitude.
I also am blown away by how well everything is designed in this game, from the cities and towns to the caves and routes. It looks incredible and isn't annoying at ALL like the older games. The difficulty is fair but it really depends on the Pokemon you're using.
Love- TM Infinite Use, Faster-Paced Battles, Shaking Grass Spots, Shiny Encounter Rate Increase, Easy Access Key Items, Easy Use Dowsing Machine & Epicness of the end of the game
Annoying- Palpitoad and Watchog entirely, Pokemon with Sturdy, How late it is to get a LOT of awesome Pokemon -
Sweet, recently beat the game. And good god, why are the post-game trainers so strong? It is a very nice feeling when I know I still have many places to go though.
-
Dammit. I've had this game for three days and I haven't even made it past Route 2 (yeah, I haven't had a lot of free time). But I'm still loving this game nonetheless.
-
Okay. Decided to buy the game with a friend while in college the week before finals. Yet, the worst part is that I feel like rushing through the game to keep up with him instead of exploring the game and trying out a bunch of different pokemon to see which ones I want to use.
Already through the fourth gym. Current team is Servine, Zebstrika, Boldore, Scraggy, and Darumaka. I also really want the Colbert Eagle on my team, but I know that would make my team to physical striker heavy. I also want a good water pokemon, but I didn't do the research on this game at all.
Other than spoiling myself on what happens at the Elite Four Champion, I still don't know much about the game, even the types for the other 4 gym leaders, elite 4, champion, and a bunch of new pokemon. So excited. And frustrated about life getting in the way. Ugh.
-

All cool and awesome, but I don't think the shiny rate has improved any. People were saying the same thing when HeartGold/SoulSilver came out.
Its the same impossible rate as always, but when you get a few thousand people playing it at the same time, a couple of them are going to get lucky and you'll hear about more shiny captures than you would after the game has been out for a while.
Its still entirely possible for the very first monster you see to be a shiny, or to never see one at all after hundreds of hours.
-
Yeah the shiny encounter didn't raise, people are just finding them, I have played the game 3 times and I haven't found one shiny, I've also evtrained 5 pokemons already and I didn't find them that way either, but I have shitty luck on random encontoured shinies, I have 10 or so shinies but none of them is random encounter, Radar/events/Sring/trades only.
Palpitoad and Watchog damn this too are so cool , I love them both
-
I think I was a lil more lucky with them in Heart Gold. Got a Shiny Caterpie and Koffing on that. And then in my recent Nuzlocke I got a shiny Sandshrew (Robbie. Give me a shout when you want him. I'll trade him onto my Black)
-
My sister and I played Pokémon games for hundreds of hours each and didn't get to see many shiny Pokémon …
My sister found a shiny Exeggcute, Geodude and Gastly. There might be one more that I don't remember.
I caught a shiny Feebas (A EFFIN FEEBAS PEOPLE! That one was rare as hell and I got it shiny!) and just recently Klink. -
Anyone else got the collectors edition guide?
-
Oh thank God Juniper gives you the Lucky Egg.
-
-
Gotta love how the game just jumps to low to mid 60s right after you beat the game.
I was like "WTF?"
-
Started playing today.
"Purrloins steal from people for fun, but their victims can't help but forgive them. Their decetively cute act is perfect."
Definitely my favorite so far. I don't like naming Pokemons but I named my Purrloin "NAMICAT"
This whole "Hey, I show you how you catch a pokemon and how to use a Pokemon Centre" is seriously going on my nerves.

Happens in everygame Oo, the I teach you how to catch a pokemon atleast .

I'm going to update the first post with friend codes later folks, so if you want to drop em, go ahead. I put the couple I already found, and I'll throw mine up when I get home, but yeah, it'll be an ongoing thing.

Every game is someone's first. And at least this time they got it out of the way immediately. No running up to the next city and then back before you even get the pokedex, let alone pokeballs. And they give you running shoes pretty quick too.

Can they even be traded before you get the national dex? I know in the past I've traded critters forward early and they just didn't get numbers…
-
I think the only non-Unova buggers you can get prior to the Nat. Dex are the beasts and Celebi.

Yeah you can, they will appear in the dex when you have the national, I sent a Magcargo along with my pre planed team to hatch them faster, after I got the National Dex he was there, so np.
Guys can anyone help me trade my Karrablast and Gurdurr to evolve?, Karrablast needs to be traded with a Shelmot to evolved, Gurdurr is like Machamp just a simple trade.
I actually have two DS and the japanese game but I want to get people from other countries in my Unity Tower, so anyone who has registered theyre country in the Globe in the Pokemon centers that can help me it would be cool, remember you gotta have a Shelmot :P.
Cyan they can be traded by someone who has them, or caught in the Dream World(wich isn't open yet), tranfering yeah only those 4.
-
I'll trade with ya if you like. Send me a PM. I'm going out for about 30 mins atm so.
(you'll have to be patient with me tho lol. I aint traded online in years so can't remember how) XD

Got the last badge, now making my way to Victory Road.
Also managed to run into Thundurus a couple of times while leveling my main team for fighting the Elite 4, but still haven't been able to catch it. I know it's at 1 hp too since I got it with False Swipe more than once with nothing happening.
Damn thing just won't stay.

Save the Master Ball to him or send a Quick Ball everytime you see him, I used my Master Ball, but with the cats on gold I used the Master Ball on one and Quick on the other.
-
Got the third badge just now. Burgh was a breeze after Lenora (who admittedly wasn't that difficult after her Herdier suicidally spammed Take Down).
-
I forgot how much I loathe trying to get a pokemon with good ability + nature. Finally got a Timid Joltik. Only to notice it doesn't have Compound Eyes -_-
Least I'm not trying for IVs or Hidden Power.
-
I usually don't care much about natures unless its downright detrimental to the one stat I really want to raise, or if I'm super specializing… like with a lightball Pikachu where every extra point gained counts for double.
I'll put some effort into getting one ability over the other if I have a major preference for it though, since those can be pretty significantly different.

:P it becomes easy, I have trained 6 now pretty fast, get the eggmoves you want, if you are having trouble with the natures use an everstone, I have an adamant/jolly/timid Ditto so it helps.
Took me 3/4 eggs to get a timid compoundeyes one.
-
Oi, anyone up to help me get Conkeldurr?

@Cyan:
