After hearing that One Piece won't be continued in Germany (hopefully for the time being), I could really use some good One Piece news.
By the way, do we know anybody here who is going to the Con. to give us any info?

I'm here .
Thank goodness it's an Eastern panel. Less time for me to suffer in anticipation. :p
Oh god, I hope its Conan.
Man, I wish it was Conan too. I don't know if Funi would describe One Piece as an "old" show, since it's you know… still airing. Just don't think it fits the description. Hopefully they'll announce that OP is continuing anyway though.
Old could mean anything.
Going by FUNi's track record I'm inclined to think they mean Shin-chan or One Piece more so than Detective Conan. On the other hand, maybe they mean Kodacha?
Old could mean anything.
Just like 'classic', apparently. ;)
or sergeant frog? lol.
And there is Kiddy Grade.
Afro Samurai. Samuel Jackson is willing to do it.
edit:
Oh wait, that studio is gone right? Well at least that won't be the big upset when they don't announce anything new for One Piece.

Gonzo? No, they're still doing anime. If there was enough money in it, I'm sure they'd do it too.
Well, the article that talked about an "old series getting renewed…" says that the Funimation Panel announcing it will be at 3:30 today. That's in about 13 minutes. So we should be getting our answers as to what series they're talking about very soon.
Is anybody at Katsucon, currently?

Zach Logan seems to be there right now.
Zach and company are. Keep an eye on their Twitter account to see if anything is announced.

Their panel is taking place at the same time as the Funi one, apparently. So, maybe they'll have someone covering the Funi panel? I don't know. But, nevertheless, I'm watching their (and Funimation's) twitter for any updates from the panel (which should be going on right now).

Well, Zach did say they'd send someone to the panel regardless. I assume said person would simply send a text message and Zach'd announce anything at their panel too.
Doesn't the One Piece Podcast have a panel at the exact same time though? They'd have to rush right to the FUNimation booth I think before they tweet.
EDIT: Oops, spoke too soon
Just joined twitter, downloaded twitter's app, and followed Onepiecepodcast because of this. I'm so excited.
here's a live feed of the panel.
I'm trying to get my password back from Twitter but it won't send the e-maiiiil!! Argh!!
EDIT: Nevermind! I'm on…now...I...wait...
Oh, hi Keroro-Gunsô Season Three.
Not One Piece. It was Sgt. Frog, guys.
Haha! It's funny! I just got Sgt. Frog, Season 1, Part 1/2 from the library!
Well that was pleasantly surprising to say the least.
Hmm….Yeah. I figured it would be something like that. I figured it would be another series though since Sgt. Frog didn't seemed to have been doing too well if I remember right.
I have a feeling that if we are gonna get an OPS4 announcement, it won't be until after Season 3, Part 5 comes out. Are there any cons in April or May?
@Badass:

Yeah I agree.
The deal with the Frog is that it sold well but it wasn't a priority to get more episodes. That was last year when Lance Heiskell said that on a podcast.
Another con that I had no reason to care about.
(And One Piece wasn't the only one I was wanting)
Well that's a little bit disappointing, but at least there was no news about the series being stopped and everyone's right - S3V5 isn't out yet.
Well guys see it this way, last time we got a Sgt Frog release was around the summer '10 and we're just now getting an announcement for new episodes. One Piece is still being released and the boxset coming out in April will be episodes never before seen in English (since Skypiea finished up in Australia). Since I brought up the hiatus issue in previous posts this, pretty much, addressed it and it makes me more reassured that the possibility of more dubbed One Piece may occur in the near future.
O-chan
Well that's the thing, if Sgt Frog can get DVD's due to fans than surley One Piece can get a season four since it has a bigger fan base, right?

Most likely, though my friend told me FUNimation already got these season 3 episodes to begin with when they had the Sojitz deal.
Will this Sgt Frog set have eps 101-103? This is all I care about.

The only reason they wouldn't make more one piece is because of licensing difficulties. I don't think it has much to do with fan base. We know One Piece has enough fans for more dvds. We just don't know if the license holders will allow Funi to keep going.

Knowing FUNimation and how they release stuff, I betcha Sgt Frog will be released like this:
Season 3, Part 1 - Episodes 52-65
Season 3, Part 2 - Episodes 66-78
Season 4, Part 1 - Episodes 78-91
Season 4, Part 2 - Episodes 92-103
They usually have a habbit of dividing one season of 51+ episodes into two seasons.

I'd also like to know if there are any cons in April or May :).
there's Tora-Con in April and Animazement in May, im not sure if Funi will be at those cons though, but if there were to be an announcement i don't think they'd announce anything before Anime Expo in July
Just picked up Season 3 4th Voyage yesterday. I'm planning on watching it with my friends relatively soon. I should probably catch some sleep though since it's about 4:30 in the morning here.
I think I remember somebody posting a list of all the conventions FUNi is going to be at from the beginning of the year to about May(?), and if memory serves me right, there were about 7 or so cons on that list. I'll try to find it.

That was me.
Two big cons are in April that I know of off the top of my head - AnimeBoston and SakuraCon. They are the same weekend, though, so it'll be virtually the same panel with only whatever happens at the Q&A differing the two.

Thank you so much.
Funny… for whatever reason, the April release of Season Three Fifth Voyage doesn't seem so far away now...
AnimeBoston and SakuraCon.
! GIRUGAMESH!!
Back from Katsucon, and really no news to report. We had a great panel, but it ran against the FUNimation panel, so we didn't really get to see the fun there.
My bets are on SakuraCon or bust.

What do you mean by that? There are PLENTY of other big cons after SakuraCon and Anime Boston, including AnimeExpo and Otakon.

I know, but I'm going to get far more pessimistic if it isn't announced after that because by that point we'll be in a grey area where One Piece is no longer being released and we no longer have any announcements.

True. . . well, hopefully we'll hear something that weekend and if not, AnimeExpo is early summer - they could potentially announce more OP for the fall or winter.
I'm more confident now of the chances of "One Piece" continuing dubbed on DVD since they're doing more "Sgt. Frog", and that series sells less. On the other hand according to my friend FUNimation had already had access to those season 3 episodes of "Sgt. Frog" when they made the deal with Sojitz and plus "One Piece" is probably a more expensive license.
I wish Toei was as open as Funimation was about things like their progress (or lack thereof) in terms of pitching the show to networks. I would think that with the series being such a hot commodity in Japan, and having a presumably sizable European fanbase, that it would behoove them to get it on a viable network by any means necessary (which would in turn boost DVD sales not to mention other merch). I have to wonder if they've given up on any real mainstream momentum in North America or not.

To tell the truth I am kind of putting money on NY Anime Fest or whatever they are calling it now seeing from what I heard is a big con that One Piece been apart of. That was when they announced that they got the rights to One Piece I believe. It is a long way though but I don't think there is much to worry about.

From what I have learned in the last year about Toei is that they like to keep things to themselves. Wanted to watch DBGT today but couldn't since it wasn't on Funi's site. You think Funi of all people would be able to stream anything DB but I guess not.

Toei Animation has no reason to be open about it. If they get it on T.V. they'll announce it, if not they have nothing to announce. Unless someone asks them why would they want to say they couldn't get it on T.V.? Well Toei Animation has a Facebook page but they don't really do much with it, and they have no con presence. Best thing you can do is call them I guess. The frustrating part is that whenever you ask FUNimation about "One Piece" on T.V. they'll just say Toei Animation is in-charge of that. And of course Toei Animation wants the most out of the property but they'll just take what they can get.

"One Piece" was announced by FUNimation online in the early part of 2007, I think in February. It was revealed through a whole "One Piece" interview that Lance Heiskell from FUNimation had on a site called animeonline.com, which doesn't exist anymore I remember when I first saw the headline on ANN I flipped my shit out of sheer glee that my dream came true.
There will also be Anime Central (ACen) in May that they'll be at (assumably). I'll be there myself, but with all the photoshoots and such I'll be going to (as about 4-5 different cosplays), I likely won't have time to go to the panel myself.
If anyone else is going though you'll see me at the One Piece photoshoot in my Captain Kid cosplay :P lol
