@Captain:
My first EGM had stuff about the Phillips CDI, Sega CD, and the older version of the Sony Play Station all at the same time. You know…back when there was talk about Sony having a CD add-on for Nintendo (like Sega CD and Genesis) or something like that. I don't remember exactly.
I actually have a copy of that one somewhere. I still remember thinking how cool the concept was and then dismissing it when Nintendo announced that they had changed their mind. Easily the worst decision that they ever made, but who knew back then that the video game market in 2005 would be dominated by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo while neither Sega nor Atari makes consoles anymore?
The CDi, boy that sure turned out to be a bomb, didn't it? Over a thousand dollars for it and anybody who bought it was rewarded with the worst Zelda games ever made.
I still read my old magazines over from time to time. But then I get depressed.
I don't get depressed myself, just surprised by how much things have changed in what is really a short period of time. On the other hand, I do get depressed when I see an ad for Saturday Morning Cartoons in an old comic book.
@omae:
THAT'S STILL GOING!?
Yeah, last's months had the 360 visiting Old Man X-Box on his death bed. It's never more than a single page anymore though and often doesn't have Hsu or Chan in them.
My favorite of all time had to be the Homemade Pokemon one; Chernobyl the Nuclear Chipmunk was funny, but the Gangster Salamander is the gift that keeps on giving. His fireball attack was one of my favorite of my favorite sight gags of all time.
If you check the letter sections from the mid 90's they're chock-full of DBZ art. It's almost like every month there was something.
They were one of the first mainstream magazines that I can remember to talk about Dragon Ball or any anime for that matter; anime magazines were pretty rare back then.
EGM was the first place I ever saw anything about Urusei Yatsura in for instance or Ranma 1/2.
Possibly. I distinctly remember Skullbats. I wanted one to smite the ignorant hordes with.
I remember something about Monkeys at any rate, but that's something that pops up fairly often in anything that Bill Donohue works on.
