Despite the fact that I feel as though you are insulting me, I find that image funny.
I just have heard that the game continues to throw new things at you until you break the 30 hour mark. Once again I only could spend 2 hours before I couldn't take playing the game anymore.
SQUARE ENIX - Single Player RPGs are dead?

I just have heard that the game continues to throw new things at you until you break the 30 hour mark. Once again I only could spend 2 hours before I couldn't take playing the game anymore.Yeah I was insulting you. I find it difficult to take anything you post seriously. You keep talking about what you heard about FFVII, what you heard about FFXIII, nothing you post has any value because you haven't even played half the damn titles you talk about.
You slam FFVII yet you've never played it and you expect us to think you aren't doing anything but talking shit? You slam FFXIII and again, you have never played it and yet you actually think anything you have to say is actually valuable. As if.
How hard is it to actually play a game and then critique it? How hard is it to actually learn something so you know what the hell you're talking about? How difficult it is type in some keys, take your level one ass to Amazon and place an order for one of the games you claim to know so much about and actually play it.
You're nothing but a gotdamn poser. The worst kind of gamer there is. Your credentials are as fictitious as the characters in the games you claim to play. Yet you expect Zero Phoenix, and everyone here to listen to what you have to say. GTF outta here.
-

Perhaps you need your eyes checked, I have played FF7. All the way through. No I couldn't play FFXIII. If you would prefer I can sit here bashing XII all day. I did play all the way through that one, and I regret it entirely.
Calling me a poser? I can play any game as long as it's actually good. I'm sorry that I can't make time for half-assed FF titles. I finished XII because I had nothing better to play at the time. Maybe I'm off with my information at times. What I do is I go around looking at what other people think of the game. Sorry to say that I find most people don't like FFXIII. Things may be different on this forum but I at least TRIED XIII, I'm again sorry that I couldn't play it. I have much better things to be playing.
Furthermore, You are flipping out over an opinion. I have a right to think what I want. Now I believe we've argued before and your best retort is that my argument was, in your own words, "Bullshit". Now explain to me why I should listen to anything you have to say. Then again if I remember correctly again. You don't care about what I have to say. I think you just enjoy trying to piss me off.
Oh and just so you know for future reference. I played and beat FF1, I played FF2. I couldn't finish it due to the horrible encounter rate, so I read a plot synopsis. I played FF3, Didn't finish it. I've played and beaten FF4. I've played FF5, didn't finish it because I didn't like the class system. I've played and beaten FF6. I've played and beaten FF7. I've played and beaten FF8. I've played FF9 I never finished it, but I watched a LP for the ending. I've played and beaten FFX. I've seen FFXI played. I've played and beaten FFXII. I've played FFXIII, I couldn't play it so I read a plot synopsis. So my opinions come from what I've seen and/or played. Sorry if you can't accept that.
-
Perhaps you need your eyes checked, I have played FF7. All the way through.
You're a gotdamn joke who can't even put together a decent argument. It's insulting just knowing you're a homosapien. If you played FF7 then why did you say YOU HEARD the first 20 hours is a tutorial?! If you played the game and had a different experience then what you heard doesn't mean anything! And if you played it but garnered the same experience then SAY THAT!
No I couldn't play FFXIII. If you would prefer I can sit here bashing XII all day. I did play all the way through that one, and I regret it entirely.
Stop talking altogether.

I'm calling you a poser (you genius) because you claim to know so much about games that you never even played. But I'll humor you. You claim to know so much about games you never actually "finished." Is that better?

If I'm pissing you off it's because you're pissing me off! I don't have a problem with anyone who doesn't like Final Fantasy. I don't have a problem with anyone who doesn't like the same titles I like. Hell, I thought that X, XI, and XIV were all awful games. What I have an issue with Chrono, is dumbass arguments that aren't based on anything but opinion. "Opinion is the absence of knowledge," (Socrates). If you say in your opinion VII or VIII were bad games then your opinion doesn't mean shit. You can't get angry at me for not babying your ass. Now, if you were able to back up your argument with details from the plot and gameplay, comparing them to other titles and showing why VII or VIII are so bad then maybe I'll give you some respect. But as long as you keep talking about your opinion, your opinion all it shows is that you don't know anything.
I played FF2. I couldn't finish it due to the horrible encounter rate, so I read a plot synopsis.
That's why you're a poser!
I played FF3, Didn't finish it.
Poser.
I've played FF5, didn't finish it because I didn't like the class system.
Poser.
I've played FFXIII, I couldn't play it so I read a plot synopsis. So my opinions come from what I've seen and/or played. Sorry if you can't accept that.
You're right. I don't accept your opinions because they show just how ignorant, how stupid you are. Opinion is the absence of knowledge. And btw, that wasn't an opinion laid down by Socrates those were facts. You can't come in here, say in your opinion VIII, XIII, or any other title you don't like is a bad game in your opinion. When asked for details you reach into your sack of bullshit and when someone rips your argument apart, you get upset and say well that's my opinion. So I reiterate thus, GTF outta here.
-
…I understand, Chronon, but you can't help but understand where he's coming from. Your posts are overwhelmingly negative and confrontational and you present yourself as a Final Fantasy expert with a pretentious attitude. Doesn't it make sense that someone who's played more games in the series might read your posts and think "who does this punk think he is?"
I say that because I've played and beaten Final Fantasy I - X plus XII and several of the spinoff titles. I also work for a Final Fantasy website that has been around for over a decade. And when I read your posts, most of the time I find myself thinking "who does this punk this he is?"
-
I haven't actually read Chronon's posts regarding Final Fantasy, but I hear people don't like them, so they're probably not very good.
In seriousness though,
You're a gotdamn joke who can't even put together a decent argument. It's insulting just knowing you're a homosapien. If you played FF7 then why did you say YOU HEARD the first 20 hours is a tutorial?! If you played the game and had a different experience then what you heard doesn't mean anything! he was quite obviously talking about FFXIII.
-
Let's be fair, Chronon has scaled back on a lot of the negativity since Robby made a comment about it in the Dissidia thread. Looking over his past couple of post do you really see anything so objectionable that you'd raise the stink over it that ZP did?
And Zero Phoenix was really going out of his way to be not worth responding to seriously, tbqh. Flipping out is right.
-
No, I was just joking (hence the "In seriousness").
ZP's entire ridiculously overexaggerated indignation was based off something he misread anyway.
-
@Banned:
Hell, I thought that X, XI, and XIV were all awful games.
You're banned and all, so I don't see you answering this, but I find it hilarious that you call Chronon a poser, but I am almost positive you've never played FF11.
-
oh wow. i was just expecting a scolding.
so 11 was considered good? I've never played it. not into online RPGs I kinda got bored with FF games from there
-
FF11 was simply overlooked because it's an MMO. Most who have actually played it either think of it fondly, or generally view it as decent.
I for one, enjoyed it. There's a lot of FF elements involved still, like Jobs, Crystals, Chocobos, Airships, and a deep storyline.
-

Final Fantasy XI BECAME good. It took many, many years, and many, many foibles. But EVENTUALLY, it became good.
For everyone else, Final Fantasy XI was probably this: http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=ff11

A buddy of mine has been pushing that site for awhile. That FF13 article is as amazing as I remember…
It also has two of the greatest reviews of Metroid: other M's story I have ever seen. Fun and fanboy-free.

I'm going to say one more thing you may find "rude". You are still misreading what I'm saying. I've said good things about FF7. I can say good things about every FF I've played…accept for maybe FF12. (I mean no offense by this, I played it I didn't like it though)
Anyways. I apologize to EVERYONE who may see my comments as "Chorno is an asshole". That's not the message I'm trying to put out. I'm just adding my 2 cents. If you want it or not, it's there.

Here is an small Update about Final Fantasy XIII-2
Seems like they are learning their lessons

I think the problem is that a lot of the time they aren't even your two cents.
You keep saying "I heard" or "I've been told that" and using that as fact rather than experiencing much of it for yourself and arguing that against people who have experienced it a lot more so.
I'm not trying to be a dick with this or anything but you have said this kind of thing multiple times now.
-
At least I'm honest. If I don't play something I will admit it. Why would I lie about something trivial, but when I have multiple sources telling me the same thing. I'm liable to believe them.
-
FFXIII did itself a real disservice by backloading all the extra content at the ass end of the game.
Not to start a console war, but I find that the reason this happened is due to the game being multiplatform with the 360.
Did you guys watch the FF Towards 13 trailer from S-E JP website? Looks like MP are going to be somewhat like Kingdom Hearts. Note that S-E's videos are 30 FPS, but you can watch 60 FPS vids here-
http://gamersyde.com/news_ff_versus_xiii_trailer-10463_en.htmlOh and they have Agito/Rei Shiki's trailer as well.

Final Fantasy XI BECAME good. It took many, many years, and many, many foibles. But EVENTUALLY, it became good.
I think level sync was what helped XI the most, or at least made it more accessible to new players and brought a lot of them in.
Now anyone can make groups and actually help each other out as opposed to before where really strong people couldn't help much due to level differences between them.
-

Yeah, I expect so.
It struck me as so sort of counter-intuitive that if you wanted to play with friends that you literally HAD. TO. PLAY. WITH. FRIENDS. If you outleveled each other all hell broke loose.
But then again there were a lot of counter-intuitive things about MMOs those days.
-
i see psp. any other systems?
-
Nope.
Cheaper then I thought it'd be though. Will probably pick it up now.
-
Yeah, when you actually think about it, its $2 less then the whole AFTER YEARS game and comes with a bonus remake of IV.
Though it also releasing on the same day as Mortal Kombat, so I'll probably put on the "purchase later" pile.
-

$7 actually. It looks like Square Tax isn't being implemented here.

Wasn't after years 38 dollars? So it would be 9…

I now have absolutely zero regret getting this now.

@Chucklepants:

I'm not sure but I think the initial title is $8 with a bunch of $4 downloadable chapters.
So all the "Tales" combined on WiiWare comes out to 3200 pts. ($32).
-
The main tale and the last tale were $8 dollars each. Each additional tale was $3, coming out to $37. My bad :D
-
Here's hoping they release this on PSN.
-
I get the feeling Squenix is pretty close to giving up on the PSN at the moment… They didn't even bother releasing KH Birth by Sleep on it.
-
PSN in general has wierd delays. I mean, there's tons and tons of games that people want, that we all say "Hey, we'll pay money for this" that… they just aren't releasing at any sort of real pace.
(I'm looking at you, Suikoden 2...)
But yeah, Square didn't release Dissidia to PSN initially either. I'm not sure if its there even now. All industries are shifting to digital download, but the companies and the consumers are having a shaky transition.
-
An interesting explanation on that note: http://kotaku.com/5748537/re+releasing-old-ps1-games-is-harder-than-it-sounds

IP and licenses mate; some of them got expired over the years, it's the reason you don't see some classics on the PSN store. When Sony gets the OK from the developer and resolved contract stuff the game will be added.

I think it'll be online in due time, IIRC, FFT was put on PSN recently wasn't it?

particularly the FFXIII one: http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=ff13
Fang: Hey Vanille, I've been thinking. What about the stuff about those things?"
Vanille: What? No!! Fang! How can you say that?! Don't talk like that Fang, please! Fang, don't say things like AAAAAGHHH OH MY GOD LOOK IT'S A HIDEOUS TWENTY-ARMED DEMON THAT WE HAVE TO FIGHT NOW!
HAHAHAHA! Oh God…that's perfect!
-
So, I recently picked up on XIII, and I don't really think it's as bad as people say it is. Sure, I miss the turn-based battle system, but to me, the one they went with takes a lot of the one from XII and improves it, as well as the gambits. Believe it or not, I liked the sphere grids from X, so the crysatrium didn't bother me, either.
Surprisingly, I find a lot of the characters likable, too. At first, I thought Sahz would be the only one I'd find tolerable. Vanille seemed like she'd get on my nerves, but maybe it's because I have a high tolerance for perky, high-pitched characters. Their interactions are really entertaining, too, especially the scenes with Lightning and Hope. So far, the only character I can't stand is Snow. To me, he's a more annoying version of Zell.
-
FF13's not a bad game.
There's just nothing more to it…
-
FF13 was amazing. It had a great story, likeable and diverse characters, battle system could be improved, but isn't as bad as people say it is, fantastic soundtrack, definitely underrated, Lightning is smoking hot.
-

Ever since XII, I think the quality of the soundtrack's dipped a little. That's not to say I don't like it, but there are some tracks that are too underwhelming for the mood. It was a lot better when Uematsu was in charge, that's for sure.
-
Final fantasy's soundtrack has gotten a lot more atmospheric and a lot less memorable since Uematsu left. It's mostly ambient music at this point.
Yoko Shimomura should change that in Versus 13, though.

I agree. There were select tracks I liked on FFXIII and FFXII's soundtracks, but by and large I don't think ambient music really works for Final Fantasy. Honestly, I don't think it works for many RPGs. Strong, evocative tunes that stay with you even long after a scene has ended is kinda the genre's lifeblood - certainly Final Fantasy's. You can't just add an orchestra and expect the music to have the same power.
That said, FFX and FFXI had GREAT soundtracks - but Uematsu's contributions to each were pretty lackluster in comparison to Masashi Hamauzu's, Junya Nakano's, Naoshi Mizuta, and Kumi Tanioka's… in my humble opinion.
-

THANK YOU!
This article was such a good fucking read.It made me laugh and nod my jaded final fantasy fan head over and over.
Combine this with Greg's review he posted a few months back and anyone who reads both will have no excuses they can make for XIII.
It sucked. Plain and simple.
-
Socksmakepeoplesexy is a great site and everyone should read it.
Seriously.

Uematsu did do Otherworld for 10, which was one of the highlights, but yeah, the guests on that soundtrack brought the good stuff there. I've never heard 11's, though.
I really, REALLY hope they make Yoko Shimomura the go-to gal for future FF soundtracks. She's essentially a genderswapped Uematsu.

Fools! Every last one of them!
The correct answer is Atlus.
-
Square the second best publisher? What kinda bullcrap is that, most of the known games by Square seem to at least have been influenced by Nomura who turns anything he touches into shit lately.
I second Insider, Atlus is one of the few developers around i actually trust.
-
Square made games other than Final Fantasy XIII you goons.
-
Square made games other than Final Fantasy XIII you goons.
Yes NIER for example while it is decent it isn't really a 5 star game.
If i were to give SE an rating i would give them 7.5, they dissapoint way to much in my regard.
-
Square made games other than Final Fantasy XIII you goons.
Oh, I know they did.
! Terrible….terrible game.
…....
But seriously. In the past, yes, I would say Square is one of my most trusted publishers in terms of games. But now? All I have with them is Dissidia. Everything else ranges from 'meh' to 'horrendous'.
And I don't even hate XIII as much as everyone else.
Let's not forget the public apology Square had no to long ago.
-
SE didn't actually produce Kane and Lynch though.
