mind if post from other manga?
Enigma is only 15 chapters long. It wouldn't take you that long to re-read the whole thing.
But if you want a summary, I'll give you one. I'm not so good at making these flow so it's basically just gonna be a long list of events.! There's a guy named Sumio and his childhood friend named Shigeru. Sumio has the ability to write predictions of the future in his diary which he calles a "Dream Diary". He writes unconsciously in it while he's asleep. He then goes about stopping what's written in it from happening because he wants to choose his own destiny, and usually because they show bad things happening like a girl at his school being teased. He's had the ability since he was little and his mom would help him investigate it. His father disappeared but his mom still loves him.
Then his dream diary says his a girl he knows disappears and the culprit is "enigma". Sumio checks Shigeru's house first, then goes to where his mom works as a cabaret club girl. She disappears in an elevator and all that's left is a black stain.
! He wakes up in a hospital and that night he and 6 other people wake up in the high school gymnasium. A being calling itself Engima with a symbol of a skull with the jaw backwards tells them they have been brought into an e-test. They need to use their special abilities to escape the school withing 72 hours. To do that they need to find the 7 passwords, one allowing each to escape. Also there's a "Shadow" going around the halls that can capture them.
! Then the characters start getting introduced. Mizusawa Aru is a guy in a cartoon character suit. Sudou Takemaru is a hot-tempered pessimistic guy in a Hoodie. Hiina is a girl… And Moto is a guy with an eyepatch. Matsurigi is the student body president, always thinking of how to save everyone, but also is a stickler for rules. He gets caught by the Shadow.
! Moto's ability is to make things disappear. He feels like he would be ostracized if anyone found out, so he hides it. He likes to live his life safely and avoiding trouble. Sumio inspires him to use his aiblity on the photo found by Sumio's ability to make the guy in the photo in front of Kurisu Ryou disappear, revealing his name, which is the password.
! Later Hiina and Shigeru are taking showes and Sumio sees in his diary that they're going to be in trouble and that there's a password in the shower room. As the room gets locked and fills up with water, Hiina describes how when she was little her parents didn't love each other and just married each other for money and prestige. Her classmates ostracized her because she was rich. What she wanted was real bonds. She has an ability called "Third Arm" which is invisible and can extend and touch things, but isn't very strong. She uses her ability to get the puzzle pieces in the room with the water rising, and Sumio risks his arm to get he last one taped inside the fan vent with the razor-sharp fan. He also saves Hiina and Shigeru from drowning.
! The dream diary keeps telling them things. Next they go to the incinerators and find Matsurigi in one and the password is in the other. Enigma sends them one key that can open only one door. In 10 minutes both would be incinerated. Matsurigi gets taken over by the Shadow he was infected by and starts turning into one, making him act like a selfish jerk and saying they should save him. Matsurigi takes over again and says that the true identity of the Shadows are that they're humans. He whispers something to Sumio and Sumio opens the incinerator with the password in it. He then puts a discarded flag pole into the incinerator and chips away at a crack in the wall. Matsurigi then uses his ability "Cubic Subtraction" to shrink the pole to hand-held size and bring it into his incinerator. He then makes it bigger to plug the pipe which sends out the incineration flames, and then brings it back to full size to break the door open. They all get out safe, and the third password is a USB thumb drive and a capsule type pill that suppresses the Shadow from taking someone over. Matsurigi pretends to take it.
! Matsurigi goes to sleep and everyone else looks for a computer to read the third password. Mizusawa goes missing and then they find his opened costume and a guy named Kurisu Ryou, the one from the first password's photo, shows up saying he was really Mizusawa Aru. He says he hid his identity so he wouldn't be suspected as a spy for Enigma, since his real name wasn't what was said. Sumio decides to believe him, but Sudou says he's being too naive.
! Kurisu is really evil and intends to be the only one to get out. He uses his ability "FLAT" to get into a PC in a photo to get the first password so he can use it. He has to sequester Sumio because his future-prediction ability would expose what he's going to do. He doctors a prediction Sumio made before he wakes up, to distract him. He kidnaps Shigeru to use her as a hostage and to test the exit to make sure it works. But he says he "can't leave yet". He drags Sumio into a photo of the town's market square and explains his ability. He can use objects inside a photo. He says when he's inside an image he "is a god", and controls everything. He can also change objects into similar objects. Normal people inside it can be brought in, but to them everything is immutable and can't be moved. Sumio bluffs and says that he can ruin Kurisu's plan before he can get to the exit if he leaves him alone there (Otherwise he'll be locked inside forever). Kurisu decides to kill him, and goes after him with a katana. Sumio runs and gets chased into a supermarket. Eventually he is cornered and has to risk everything on his Dream Diary, which tells him how to escape. He writes the password on the wall and the 5 others find the photo when they hear Kurisu's voice coming out of it. Sudou uses a lighter to light the photo on fire and force them out. Kurisu is beat, because if he stays there he will die in the fire and if he leaves without Sumio the others will beat him up. When Sumio tells him not to give up and to let them out, he says "You're like me back then when I was such an idiot".
! When he gets out he decides he won't let anyone get out, and it turns out he is actually the Shadow. He goes to attack everyone but then Matsurigi comes and gives him the capsule to suppress the Shadow transformation. He also says that he isn't the real Mizusawa Aru. He then explains how Kurisu used to be his best friend and mentor, as a morally upright person who stood up for people in the school. And how he and Kurisu were in the last e-test, which is called "the second e-test" by Enigma. Back then they could only find 2 passwords. The other 3 people in the test started to lash out against Kurisu when time was running out, then he and Matsurigi decided their only choice was for them to escape and try to get help. They split up when being chaced by a Shadow. Matsurigi sees a password already input and things Kurisu has already left. He escapes right before a Shadow attacks him. But then the announcement/Enigma says he is the only one that escaped. And Matsurigi figures out that Kurisu had been captured by he Shadow, because he saw the glimmer of the cross he wore inside the Shadow right before he left. So now he wanted to help him in this e-test. He says how the Shadow transformation turns your personality into the exact opposite of the original and that's why Kurisu was so evil.
! And that's all that's happened so far in a nutshell. It's a lot easier to understand if you just read the chapters though.
Thank you so much!!!!! This is exactly what I wanted!!!
The thing is though, is that i have everything from chapter 8 onwards, so could you just mark where the events go up until that point. Sorry to bother you again^^;

Take Lightwing first .
I figured Oumagadoki wouldn't last, couldn't really see anything else getting cut since it seemed like it was too early for Light Wing to be, though maybe it can last a bit longer.
Enigma is still doing good, which is what I like to see. I don't like seeing Nurarihyon so low over these past few weeks, but since the last arc's ending wasn't that great I'm hoping it'll pick up again soon enough.
Stupid japanese kids….grrr
I sure hope lightwing goes first that shits boring.
I'm satisfied that Beelzebub is in a safe position.
I'm no longer worried about beel at the moment.
I'm more worried about Oumagadoki which is infact a good manga it's just that those damn kids don't think so.

I agree with you, It's sad to see the people choosing bad mangas like Bleach instead of recent, but good mangas like Oumagadoki.
What's ao no exorcist doing in weekly jump?? Is this because of new anime announcement??

Kubo has got to be selling pot to thousands of people in order to get those ratings.

Anyone thinking the editors might be prone to tamper with the results just to pretend Bleach is more popular then it is to save face ?

Man, what is with all the Bleach hate. I personally really love where the series is going right now and I am interested in seeing what Kubo will come upp with from here on out. You guys either just personally can't get over your own grudges against a series you continue to fallow even though you critisize it as bad, or you are just individuals who think that an author taking a risk and trying something different with their manga and the "norm" is untolerable.
Well. I am pretty bummed to see where Oumugadoki is still at. I really hope they still give it a chance to rise. Also, the final decisions on where a series will be dropped will strictly come down to the decision of the head editor. Like if a serious continues to rank bottom for weeks, but the editor in cheif feels it is a manga worth investing in, they have the power to continue it.
It just really seems like the manga magazine business is an unadmirable dog pit. So what it comes down to is not a judge of content or actual popularity, but only popularity to other series in the magazine. So even if all the series are doing well, the one do the least well is still likely to be canned? It just seems like a pretty uncomfortable system.
And does anyone know what was the longest a series that stayed in the bottom ran?
Gordonham, Bleach is fucking terrible. It was terrible before this new turn, it is terrible during this new turn, and it will be terrible when the story continues.

Bleach is a pretty bad manga, you know. The end of the Soul Society was mediocre and the Arrancar arc was really terrible. But I will give Kubo the benefit of the doubt and wait a bit before judging this new arc.

Just a bonus chapter for new years, I believe. Gag Manga Biyori and Kakko Kawaii Sengen are getting similar special chapters this issue, and all three run in Jump SQ.

You do have one thing right kubo will come up with something that looks cool and will bring another plot hole into the manga. Hell the man doesn't even remember what he draws he stated in a interview that he has to re-read his entire series. Now I can understand re-reading a few volumes back just to make sure the story is flowing smoothly but since mr. makeitupasigoalong doesn't write out a simple timeline. Which would be easy for him to do and just "make-up" the middle yet be careful about it.
I was once a bleach fan but ever since the hueco mundo arc I was questioning myself on this series and once it came to the grimmjow fight with ichigo in Hueco Mundo that made me stop liking bleach cause let's face it in the manga that fight was boring it however was saved by the anime.

Bleach manga is the intellectual equivelant of smashing action figures together making sound effects with your mouth.
Also you're in a pure white room 98% of the time.

Also you're in a pure white room 98% of the time.
You forgot to mention that sometimes one of the light bulbs in the room goes out and it makes the room half dark and half light, and there's a random sofa to make it "feel" like there's some sort of background.
I'm surprised that megaka box is higher than reborn. like, that is super shocking. what the hell is going on in medaka right now??
and I think ouma is safe for a little longer, if only because they JUST canned SWOT and something else. I think there is like a couple months until the next cancelation meeting. in which light wing will surely get the boot, and ouma if it doesn't improve. but if it CAN improve…!
Still seems to be just lot of figuring pointing. I really have been interested in why so many people where dislike Bleach so much, so I appreciate those who said why they dislike Bleach. But why do most just say it is bad without even giving any examples why. I would really like to hear more reasons if you can.
Me personally, I do have problems with Bleach. No series, especially shonen ones, are perfect and have no flaws. Mine are probably fewew than most though. Mine boil down to just basically the lack of a thorough explanation of the whole afterlife system, battles that last multiple chapters with little or no dialogue, and broken powers.
I was lucky and saw the Grimmjow/ Ichigo fight in the Anime first where I thought it was totally awesome and action packed, but then when I read it in the manga, yeah, it was like six chapters of no dialogue but screams. That was disappointing.
The broken powers thing is something that always does get to me, but I am almost always able to look over it in the end because most of these times these guys with these broken powers get killed. Szayelaporro's and Baraggan's where totally "wtf how can you win" but the one that still drives me nuts is Aizens. I mean, how can you loose with crazy broken power like that.
Well, these were all negatives on the series for me, but they didn't ruin the series as a whole. And I would like to here your reasons you don't like Bleach too. And the whole, three pages of close ups on mouths and gradient backrounds of black and white or solid of either, I really don't mind them. I actually appreciate these things. I think they are quite obviously ways that mood and tone of the situation is trying to be set up.
Horrible Pacing: 2 Pages of a guy drinking a glass of wine
MOst of the characters are completely inconsequential and basically end up as padding, including most of the "main" cast: Whens the last time Chad did anything useful? Renji? When has Orihime done anything outside of being a walking plot device? Ishida's done nothing important since SS. And then we have useless and pointless enemies that are just thereas padding. Like the three numbered Arrancar, or hell, even 9 of the ten espada were just there for fights and weren't really significant to the story at all. Probably the result of Kubo's solution for writers block being to make new characters, which he's stated for himself
Almost no backgrounds and mostly generic art
Story is riddled with plotholes and plot twists are almost always ass pulls. Hell, Kubo hadn't even thought of Aizen being a villain when he was supposedly "killed" in soul society. Zero Espada. Aizen knew about Ichigo from when he was born. And lets not forget when Kubo CHANGED Aizens line about Ichigo being a human and a… to a shinigami and a... (or was it the other way around) in the chapter after it was first stated. ALso that orb becoming a retcon for everything in the series
Ichigo's complete and utter lack of a personality: Seriously, Ichigo is about s bland and generic as he could be
and I could probably think of many, many more flaws given time
EDIT: lets not forget the most incosistent strength and ability levels ever. I still call BS on any of the higher ranked espada being stronger than Ulquoirra even without his second release. Ulquiorra stopped a getsuga tenshou from Ichigo, who was using hiss hollow mask and bankai, with barely a scratch without ever releasing. Compare this to Stark who despite being the 1st espada got beaten by a shikai and had no decent powers
Also Bleach has so much wasted potential. It could have been good, and there have been times where I feel like Kubo had agreat idea only to completely disregard it. For example, in the 2nd espada vs the vizard fight, I was expecting it to be a cool matchup where the vizard would use his time reversal powers to nullify Barrigan's aging ability. But no, instead we just get some deus exs and the time reversal powers are never even brought up

Haha. I really enjoyed reading your veiws. And I do have to say that I agree with most of the points you are bringing up. But in the end these are points that I still think plague many series and still do not deteriorate the fact the the series are enjoyable. Even after all you have pointed out, I still find that with all these flaws Bleach is still a much more enjoyable series than most others. And I actually have to say that I like Kubo character building a lot. I think it is another thing that doesn't fallow the classic shonen formula and brings a more realess to the work. It makes it feel a lot more like reality. In the real world there are people that you will always see but really never have affect on you. In real life, I guess you could say that the majority of people you will ever meet or see is just "padding" and I like the small things I can make out of that in Bleach, reguardless of whether the author ever had the intention of doing so.
I also have to agree with you on the whole Ulquiorra ranking. I think he definitely should have been at a stonger rank. But I was fine at the rank he was head because I always felt that that was the rank he wished to be at. If he really wanted to be at a higher rank he could have always just approached and challenged the other espada. I think that the fact that he hid his second form is proof enough that he did not want to rise in the ranks and make his true stregth known.
I never really thought about your take on the Baraggan fight, but that could have been interesting. But does hachi really have time reversal ablities. I know that they said his abilities were similar to Orihime's, but I always thought that Orihime was the only one who possesed time-reversal abilities.
And the thing I probably have to disagree with you most one is the hogyoku.
I love what it is so much. Just before getting to that point into the series, I had finished the super awesome and amazing manga King of Thorn. And when I found out what they hokyoku was I was thoroughly surprised and elated at the relevation. Those who have read King of Thorn will probably understand.
Yeah. He said he had time-reversal abilities for healing, but Orihime was different because she had event rejection instead
Also, real world people have personalities, and are not extremely generic, and such. And I'm fine with fodder and inconsequential characters when they are one off appearance. But major One on One fights should not happen with totally pointless characters. And Major villains like the Espada should not contribute NOTHING to the story besides a fight opportunity. Which is what all of them but Ulquoirra did in the end. ALso the Hogyouku would've been ok if it had been in any way hinted at, and hadn't been given a complete and worthwhile explanation. Also if it didn't retcon everything that ever happened in the entire series

Could you please specify the characters who you are talking about? The ones that are "generic" but participate in major fights. And I stil don't understand what you mean by your hogyoku issue. Isn't retcon a term for when a new writer comes in and changes the history of a series? But Kubo came up with this himself, and i personally it doesn't really hurt or interferes Bleach's history at all but justifies it. I always wondered what the heck where the cases with Chad and Orihime. And I really don't think Kubo could have chosen a better way of explaining it then they way he did. I mean I really love what the hogyoku ended up being.
You mean wish device that explains away everything in the series ever and completely contradicts completely fine explanations given long ago for many things? And you think thats a good thing? I'm aftaid I can't follow anymore
So is it Toriko or Torico? Strange.
You mean wish device that explains away everything in the series ever and completely contradicts completely fine explanations given long ago for many things? And you think thats a good thing? I'm aftaid I can't follow anymore
I don't understand what you mean. How does it completely contradict fine explanations? The only explanations where vague and didn't really hold any really answers to begin with. It was just. "I guess they had a hidden power that awakened."
And how does it "explains away everything in the series ever"? As far as I can tell, all it did was explain, and quite appropiately I feel, Chad and Orihime's powers, and the ability to create Visoreds and Arrancars.

EDIT: after clicking on the second link it seems to be electronic greeting cards
It wasn't just they awakened hidden powers. It was they were influenced by Ichigo's extremely high amount of reiatsu leaking out which caused them to develop more of their own. Which also makes more sense in other ways when we consider Ichigo's other friends also started developing spiritual senses

That's some sorta new-years e-card thing.
Most of the freebies on Shounen Jump's site are stupid.
The wallpapers can be cool though, they're usually like expanded versions of color pages from the mangas without any text on them.

Haha. You think that is a better explanation? Haha. I really don't understand that. So you are basically saying it was Ichigo that influenced everyone around him. But who was with him all the time? Rukia. I see that the hogyoku makes a lot more since the "Ichigo has super, amazing, mysterious, power awakening reitsu, uuuuuuuoooooooooooooooouuuuu!"
Let me guess, you liked the revelation of aizen knowing about ichigo ever since he was a baby?
Except, that you know, every explanation ever given in the beginning of the series has the original way make more sense. It was established that Ichigo had enormous Reiatsu, and it was established that he had little control of it and that it leaked a lot. It was also established that Captains and Vice Captains had the limiter in the living world specifically because high reiatsu levels leaking could easily influence the living world. It wasn't about Ichigo's reiatsu being special, it was about it being enormous and Ichigo having so little ability to control it. And again, the problem with the Hogyoku is also that it came out of nowhere and was completely contradicted previous explanations of things. Aside from which, can you explain how someone creates the ball of infinite, wish granting power that literally pulls power from nowhere. It wasn't even something made by a real god, just a guy who wasn't even trying to make anything like that. Aside from which, a ball of unlimited power that has no rules or guidelines on it is stupid as shit horrible writing in the first place
Dude don't bother.
They've been patting each other on the back for too long with their similar opinions.
Dissenters won't be treated kindly.
The powerless Rukia who spent every other second stating how awesomely special Ichigo was. And It doesn't mean jack what explanation you like better. Fact is that Kubo gave an explanation for their powers when the series started.
Then, later on, Karakura town was a spiritually dense place, and that suddenly was what affected people.
Now, it was the magic ball which did it. That's the damn problem.
Let me guess, you liked the revelation of aizen knowing about ichigo ever since he was a baby?
That was the most stupid revelation I heard in manga history. It didn't bring anything to the story except making Aizen look like a dumbass when he was raped by Ichigo few chapters after that.

Ok I haven't read Bleach in years. But how exactly did Ichigo get round Aizen's ultimate hypnosis hax in the end?
Fairy GodTrollmother Kubo?
Aizen mentioned a way of escaping the psychedelic effects of his blade during his play time with Gin, in some point during the hax fight, Ichigo may have touched Aizen's blade.
That was the most stupid revelation I heard in manga history. It didn't bring anything to the story except making Aizen look like a dumbass when he was raped by Ichigo few chapters after that.
You know what's worst than that? Havin Gin open the gate to soul society when at any given time during that ""war"" aizen could of asked gin to open the gate and left. It would actually bring more of a danger feel if that happened. Imagine when during the time they were trapped in that fire cage created by yammamoto aizen just decided to go to the real karakura town in SS. He goes there off screen while all the fights continue to happen. He than returns with Wonderweiss and has the key in his hand. This is the way it should of happened not any given moment I could of left and created the key but I rather just sit here watch all my espada fail, kill the only female in the espada level up than leave.
Dude don't bother.
They've been patting each other on the back for too long with their similar opinions.
Dissenters won't be treated kindly.
So you're speaking in favour of Kubo or against him ?
Also do the mods mind this discusion here or not ? Because I think it might be ocnsidered off topic .
I don't see how it would be off topic since bleach is in WSJ and this is the Table of Contents for WSJ.
Is Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan's anime a good adaptation to the manga? or does it leave stuff out?
Ok I haven't read Bleach in years. But how exactly did Ichigo get round Aizen's ultimate hypnosis hax in the end?
Aizen never used it, let alone his Bankai. Yeah, the only way that any of the characters could beat Aizen was if he spontaneously forgot how to use any of his powers.
lool totally forgot aizen didn't even use his bankai…
