I need to make this thread before Gueta beats me to it.

So Uncharted 3 is supposed to take place in a desert. Sounds cool to me. Wonder what the story will be about.

When I saw this thread's title I thought it was made official. Well in anycase, seems more and more likely that it will be announced very soon. Let's wait for December 12 then.
As for the desert part, I hope this'll not be te only kind of environment that Drake will visit.
The Kotaku thread about it is better due to a really awesome header image. Made me chuckle.
Lol, I would have made a thread about it even if I don't own a PS3
Hell I read about the whole desert thing yesterday
Well last one is snow, so it only makes sense to go to the desert.
After this outing, Nathan Drake will be telling one liners on his way to SPACE!!!!
There's other places they can still go to on Earth. Maybe not as "Exotic", but could still be fun.
as long as they don't start including aliens and bringing in teen model shitheads
I want to play Uncharted in Alaska.
Nathan Drake vs. the Palincopter would be
I can´t wait for this game. Desert sounds cool too me.
Maybe it´s Nathan Drake vs. The Ghost of the Prince of Persia
XD

Hell yeah! Ret's go!
Know what might be fun? Everyone's doing it. Make an Uncharted game with zombi- Oh, wait… first game already did that, and it was NOT fun. Those buggers were my only complaint with the first game.
Ugh yeah that shit was so out of place. You go hopping through jungles and ruins and then all of a sudden it's like OH SHIT DEAD SPACE ZOMBIE FLASHLIGHT HALLWAYS
A desert huh.. sounds good.
Hopefully they'll go elsewhere as well, some sort of underwater place as a contrast to the desert.
Atlantis anyone?
I liked the creatures in the first one. And the blue yeti people in the second. I think it's a nice change of pace from shooting people. What about something about the pyramids and shooting mummies?
I will admit the Descendants added a surprise to the game, cause who in their right mind expected that? Throughout the game Drake had said one liners and such which was exactly what I was thinking myself while playing the game, and his reaction to these things showing up mirrored my own. But dammit, they took it too far with horror-esque bunker. Not to mention how fricken strong the bastards were. I dread dealing with those pricks on Crushing.
Also, it seems the series have a formula it follows. So many cues in Uncharted 2 came right out of Uncharted 1, I pretty much knew exactly what was coming in Uncharted 2. Hopefully they mix it up for 3.
The zombies and yeti retards from Uncharted 1 and 2 are easily the worst part of the games, aside from lackluster final bosses (Uncharted 1's is just awful).
So get ready for mummies that take 60 shots to kill.
Alternatively, get ready for Drake to snark about "oh you thought there'd be mummies?!" near the end.
Doubly alternatively, get ready for Drake to snark about mummies, only for aliens to pop out instead.
I'm secretly Naughty Dog writer Amy Hennig and I just revealed the plot twist you never saw coming.
The last fight in the first one took me almost 10 tried to beat. I actually thought it was pretty cool. The yetis are easy to kill if you have infinite ammo with the crossbows.
For a game that relies so much on visual spectacle and the like, the final boss for the first game was just incredibly underwhelming.
I liked the boss fight at the end of 1, it felt like an epic final scene of an action film. 2's was pretty stupid tho. Hoping around like a bunny, hopefully not falling to your death, while shooting syrup to blow a guy up.

Better than chasing a pussy around who likes to send henchmen after you while occasionally popping up to one-shot you with his shotgun and then
finishing him off with a QTE. Strangely though the Goldeneye remake copied this somewhat.
@Holy:

I'll admit, there was a moment in number 2 when Drake and umm… i think his name started with a T, were being attacked by one the first yeti and after a few tense QTEs the game tricked me into thinking "holy shit... i can't beat him this time, i'm fucked..." bam! buddy comes and saves you!
It was cool, but then when the yeti are used over and over... or was it the blue guys.. anyway, the game just lost some magic.
I dunno.. Unchated 2 lost a LOT of steam when everything went all Avatar on the player.
The zombies from number 1 just blew.
Mummies indeed.
I didn't want 3 to follow the same formula as 1 and 2… but with all the mummy talk I want it to now. If it truly does take place in the desert and involves exploring tombs, I wonder what the game will be compared to more; Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider? I mean, the series has been compared to both since 1, but I can see people getting obnoxious if 3 takes this route. But they can suck it, Naughty Dog knows how it's done.
I´d be okay with mummies.
And I just know ..
!
.. he´d be too.
Looks like "Shamfufu" will be Drake's female partner if the plot does take place in Africa. She lives in Cape town if I remember Drake's journal correctly.
I also expect Rika to show up at one point. Possibly the big bad of the game due to backlash on the ND forums about the lack of female villains and Rika being considered a hero.
I never payed much mind to the girls in his journal, especially cause they were hard to read.
I liked the scare-o-meter in the second one's journal. With Sully's mustache at the bottom and yeti at the top . Or the many expressions of Victor "Goddamn" Sully where they all look the same.
Yeah, those are good. The zombies are totally scarier than the Yeti's, tho. However, the bit right before you fight your first one with it blending into the shadows before jumping away gave me a nice jolt. That was really cool.
Yeah, when I first saw it I was like "That looks kind of out of place. I bet it's going to move." And it did. Freaked me out.
I didn't even notice anything out of place.
UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION
It's indeed taking place in the desert.
Sounds like there's gonna be a lot more of Victor 'Goddamn' Sullivan, too. Which is great, cause he's probably my favorite character. Strangely, while we're getting the trailer this Saturday, Jimmy Fallon is the one who's getting the first live demo Monday night on his show.
Oh, I thought I had seen this on this forum. Must have been on another . Mods, feel free to rename the thread.
The subtitle has me bothered. Who could Drake be deceiving, and for what? Maybe it's referring to his and Sully's past?
Here's another article with a little bit more info.

I'm not liking that they're focusing their time on Multiplayer like everyone else. That's time and effort that could be going into the single player, which I know they're still doing, but it still worries me.
The fact that their are talking "more sully" is news that is just fiiiiiine to me.
Sounds good so far.
Lol, already have seen people bitching and screaming "Ripoff" cause it's taking place in the desert. These people clearly haven't learned from the first 2 games.

Yeah, it's always a trade-off.
Whenever they add multi-player to a single player game they always take some of the focus away from the single player.
I had the uncharted 2 multiplayer beta when it came out and got bored aftern a few hours.
Except for certain fighting games, I can't really play multiplayer for too long or I'll get bored. I'd rather play something new at that point.
First we finally get to see Fishman Island and now Uncharted 3 is announced. Day of my Life :D

UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception continues to evolve all of the core principles we laid out for the UNCHARTED franchise, most important of which is creating an unmatched and extremely compelling interactive cinematic experience. In addition to having a compelling story and authentic characters that all of our fans can relate to as key facets to creating this type of experience, we push ourselves and the capability of the PlayStation hardware through constantly refined gameplay mechanics and technology innovation. Our dedication to creating the best interactive cinematic experience can be seen in our last two games – UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune and UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. We’re especially honored and humbled that both titles have been so successful, selling nearly 8 million units combined and earning more industry awards and accolades than we can keep track of. We’ve set the bar very high for us to outdo the past successes of our previous UNCHARTED games. We’re looking forward to taking on this challenge to top ourselves and create a truly unforgettable interactive cinematic experience that everyone can enjoy.

UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception features the return of famed fortune hunter Nathan Drake and follows him through a gripping, action-packed storyline that will take you all over the world. In his search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands,” Nathan Drake and longtime friend and mentor Victor Sullivan set off on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert. But when terrible secrets of this lost city are uncovered, their journey becomes a desperate bid for survival that will force Drake to confront his deepest fears.
Throughout UNCHARTED 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.
Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return as a key ingredient to the UNCHARTED 3 package, where all of the new features we have planned will combine with our signature single-player cinematic gameplay to create a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience that can only be found in the UNCHARTED universe.
Oh, and there’s one more thing – UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception fully supports high-resolution Stereoscopic 3D.
We’re looking forward to exploring it all with you in the months to come. Be sure to hit up your local newsstand tomorrow and pick up a copy of the December 17 issue of Entertainment Weekly – you’ll find a ton of additional details on UNCHARTED 3 and the new art shown above in glorious, full color print. I know what you're saying but in this case it doesn't really fly. Just look at the quality of Uncharted 2's singleplayer.
Uncharted 2's multiplayer was an after-thought. With Uncharted 3 they're considering a major part of the series from that point on, which worries me. But hey, if the singleplayer campaign is as good and long as the past two games, I won't complain and I may even try to get into the multiplayer.
I actually liked the standard co-op mode in 2, the problem was they just didn't have content. If they expanded that from like 3 different scenarios to like 8, I'd play that shit for a while.
^ Split-screen support would also go a long way in making co-op worthwhile.
I first heard about this this morning.
Then I had to get a new pair of pants.
(Seriously, this is just f***ing awesome…I can't wait...!!
The only two things that put me off were the fact that it was also a 3D game, whereas I strongly prefer the 2D tradition in video games a lot more, and that to top [or even match, for that matter] their previous game, Naughty Dog is going to have to really become a factory of miracles, because a feat like that is usually unthinkably undoable, but I still anticipate what other tricks they shall pull out of their sleeve now, because, as of yet, I've been a number one fan of their every game, even down to that one game with the rings, lol, and the Jak and Daxter series has been my favorite game series out of every other I've played to this day….I definitely hope they don't disappoint, ehh? ;))
How can you take a point away from a game for having an option? It's not like it's strictly 3D.
The VGA trailer was fricken awesome! I'm more pumped than I already was. The graphics look even better and more refined than Uncharted 2, which is insane to me.

I know it's not something I should be entirely bothered about, really; for whatever reason, I just find the gradual move to 3D gaming quite unnecessary and facepalm at the thought of it, so it's more of a personal pet peeve to see Naughty Dog try to make their game better, so to speak, with an additional 3D feature as well. If others enjoy it, though, then that's cool. I'd just rather play it without any add-on effects.
And yess, that VGA Trailer was siick….Got me even more pumped, actually.

Holy shit does that look good. I'm seriously starting to think if I should just sell my 360.. Ughh, no, I'll just save for a PS3. I might get it sooner or later.
Goddamn that looks beautiful.
