Also is it just me, or was Moria kinda freaky when he was splitting his scissors apart? Those three words fit like a glove with that guy, so it works fine.

Ok, the episode itself was pretty good, but I had a major problem with one part of the sub. The part where Ace says (praphrasing here) "I won't struggle any longer, it's disrespectful toward them." was changed to: "…I feel sorry for them." WTF? That's a major change in meaning, guys.
I mean, I'd read that the subbing has been getting lazier lately, but dude, really? It sounds like he pities these guys who came to kick ass and put there lives on the line for him.
Now about the episode: Hancock, I love you, seriously. Girl always makes me laugh. Luffy grinning at Hancock? You know what? I'm beginning to think he knows exactly how he affects her. Sneaky, sneaky lad. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Speaking of laughs, they pulled off Buggy/Whitebeard interaction really well. It did feel a little filler-y, but watcha gonna do? They actually adaptated it spot on from the manga.
And Smoker's anger, and frustraaation, really came through- how Luffy escaped him in Loguetown. I didn't realise dude still had such a mad-on from then.
Pft. Tashigi just needs to stay out of the way. -
Man, what a great episode!
-Buggy stuff was hiliarous.
-Nice fast paced action. Luffy punching the tar out of marines is always great.
-Ace….well, a lot less hacking sounds.
-Jimbei vs Moria was awesome and funny, thanks to them having the same seiyuu. XD
-But the highlight was Luffy vs Smoker. Man, that was AWESOME! Hancock gave me chills when she expressed her anger, you never mess with her.
-The Ivankov-Kuma dialog was good, although the best was cut off.....Still, great episode.
-
This episode is definitely a highlight of the war so far. Also, speaking of translation errors, one of the Whitebeard pirates called the Vice-Admirals "admirals". One thing I'd like to say, though, is that it somewhat annoys me that Toei tries to bring One Piece closer to Dragon Ball Z from time to time. Look at Luffy vs. Smoker, the aerial Jet Gatling. Now imagine Ki blasts instead of Luffy's punches. I don't necessarily dislike it, but one of the reasons One Piece is so good is that the fights tend to be unique and have unexpected elements. Then I watch this and I feel like I've seen this before.
P.S. I realized that I really want Whitebeard's coat now.
-
Toei tries to turn every show into Dragon Ball. Even Dragon Ball.
-
The fights are naturally going to grow more intense with high-speed blows when the characters grow stronger and fast. Considering Luffy's soru usage when in Gear Second and how even Blueno lost sight of him I don't see how this confrontation with Smoker was any different.

lol, no
he smiled at her like that in the manga as well
smaller panel though, I believe
I love Hancock to death - mostly because I love hearing all the womens bitch and whine over feminist bullshit.

I instantly got Deja Vu of Vegeta shooting Ki blasts at Frieza while I was watching that.
-
A image I posted in the raw episode section. So why not here :P
-
lol, okay, not exactly like that, but pretty similiar regardless

Last panel. Luffy vs giant, Luffy vs smoker, Hancock vs the random men and the smile luffy gave off was all really done well in the anime.
-
Mixed feelings about tonight's episode. The beginning was way too slow, even for me who usually doesn't complain about the pacing. Although I admit the "honey" coming from bishounen Luffy was hilarious, but I could have settled with a 30 second wedding daydream and not one that lasted 5 minutes. >>
The second half, as seems to always be the case lately, was handled much better.
-
This episode was….well, ok. Not bad or good, but ok.
-Damn long recap....
-Hancock's reaction to Luffy hugging her was PRICELESS! (she totally sounded like she was having a orgasm XD)
-The marriage fantasy was hiliarous.....but it didn't need to be that long. o_0
-The Hancock-Smoker scene had kickass music.
-Ivankov vs Kuma felt like it stalled....
-Doflamingo continues to have an epic voice.
-Galaxy Wink was awesome. Yet the seiyuu sounded really wacky.
-More recaps? And wth, they played the same scene before and after the eyecatcher? DX
-Buggy filler was too funny.
-Crocodile vs Joz and the Crocodile meeting Doflamingo both were great….but sadly the art (namely for Crocodile) was ew at the point.
-And...the art got better? Hm. The Mihawk scene was great. I'd say his new voice is sounding better than Aono.
-.....We needed a Zoro vs Mihawk flashback? I guess so, Mihawk's not the most appearing character..... -
oh so funimation does have the new episode up? i tried looking on their site and only see last week's up. and it won't let me watch it either, even though i'm in canada.

The new episode is up….but it's odd you can't see it.:wassat:
-
I was pretty disappointed with this episode :(
I don't think I've been this disappointed for a while actually. It was dragged out like crazy and I just found it plain boring to be honest.
-
the wedding filler makes no sense. if she thinks she's married with a hug, then she shouldn't know what a real marriage ceremony is. (i went somewhere else to watch the episode. it IS strange that i can not see it. maybe i'm looking in the wrong place on the site)
-
Toei sure seems to love using that Sanji music with Hancock, but hey- it fits. :p

That is sort of the point of her character, with her not knowing anything about relationships at all.
Overall, the episode dragged on, but the filler was entertaining at least.
-
dude, that's not what i was saying
-
Barf. Toei sure knows how to crush any hope I have that they'd change their game plan for this arc for once. Nope, still dragging their feet in a horribly dull manner. At least they can manage to make it interesting from time to time. Also, I agree with captain usopp about the ridiculous marriage filler.
-
Don't go judging the entire arc with one episode. Most of the arc so far has been very good.
For example, tonight's episode, while containing a little more of Hancock filler, was 5 times better than last week. The pacing was great overall, and covered a lot of stuff.
-
Well, that's what I meant when I said they can make it interesting from time to time, but yeah I guess I went too strong there. I just thought they would resist the urge to pull that kinda stuff for an arc such as this. I mean, this is like the climax of an Act! The curtains are going to pulled in just a few dozen more episodes to make way for the New World. I wanted One Piece to get the animated adaption I feel it deserves.
As for tonight's episode, it started out strong and kept going at a decent quality. My biggest gripe this time is the unnecessary addition of dialogue when Mihawk deflects the Muggy Ball back at Buggy. I theorize that they did it just to be able to stretch that scene out.

We're not only about halfway through this war. There's plenty of time to prove themselves here. Just be patient.
I agree though that that joke with Buggy being hit by the ball was so stupid it was actually laughable, so I guess it worked… sort of.

I actually thought that was pretty funny compared to those intrusive Hancock fantasies.
I thought this episode was pretty good. Luffy using Buggy as a shield was hilarious, and I really liked the scene where Mihawk observed Luffy's ability to draw people to him. I don't quite remember how it was portrayed in the manga, but it felt really significant here.
-
There was more bass in this episode than any episode I've heard in a long time. Too bad Gôri couldn't keep voicing Jimbei, he'd have fit in so well. :(
Banjô Ginga and Tesshô Genda, too.
-
Is it just me or does funi's speed sub seem to be sliding, quality wise.
@Yuugi's:

Actually I spent most of this episode wondering how awesome all mihawk's dialogue would have been with Takeshi Aono voicing it.
-
Hm….solid episode.
-Mihawk can fire energy blasts! Luffy amazed face
-The Jimbei vs Mihawk filler.....was definitely unexpected. o_0
-So....Mihawk knocked Jimbei away with a laser?
-Gear 2 Luffy running at NORMAL SPEED has to be the dumbest thing I've seen.
-The ice slash was awesome.
-I actually liked the Buggy filler.
-Crocodile talking with Doflamingo was pretty good, especialy when he called him "Flamingo shit" and blew him away.
-The Hancock filler.....Toei, are you trying to make fans hate Hancock? >_> Even though I normally like the Hancock fantasies, this one felt.....really out of place.
-Hahaha, Mihawk cutting Buggy and Buggy yelling at Luffy was hiliarous. XD
-Uh.....a ball's coming at you, and you want to make a joke, Buggy? What the-? XP
-Mihawk vs Vista was pretty sweet.
-The Luffy ally scene was good.
-And finally, the Pacifista army scene at the end was done well. Also, the whole Luffy vs Mihawk situation was good in some parts, bad in others.
-
Is it just me or does funi's speed sub seem to be sliding, quality wise.
What, did you only now notice episodes have been getting worse subbing?
-
Japan maybe dragging their feet on giving FUNimation the materials they need, hence less time to check for quality.
-

I rarely watch the funi versions.

It's pretty glaring though.
-
Well then it becomes it being released later than just an hour.
Think of how many fans will throw tempers. Heck, one person had a question that threw an attitude to them doing simulcast that go online 3-4 days later.
-
Well then it becomes it being released later than just an hour.
I'm comparing this to the ones that they did at the start of the simulcast, which were of a much higher quality. Funi were formally able to get this done, unless there really is slack at toei's end now.

Personally I'd rather they put it out later with a bit more of a professional product, but I'm outside NA so I have no standing in the matter anyway.
-
Decent episode. Not too much to say about it. Lets of implied filler battles, which is a good thing. The reveal at the end was done well. Although that negative technique felt a little weird in this situation.
-
Good episode. Better than last week.
-Figured it'd be recap-heavy in the beginning.
-Lol, Ivankov looked to be matching Kuma in height in one scene. XD
-Sengoku's voice needs to be angrier…..to sound better. Does that make sense?
-I love how Kizaru always sounds so amused.
-Mihawk vs Vista kicked ass. Vista's attacks remind me of Byakuya's Shikai......
-That guy with the Wario mustache and the lightning sword......we need to see more of him, ASAP.
-10 whole minutes without Luffy. Wow.
-Random marine fodder, you know you can't hurt Luffy....
-I forgot, was Trap-chan officially named? And who came up with Trap-chan anyways....
-Commanders are looking cool.
-Moria vs Curiel was good.
-Ah Junko Noda, I love your voice (although, I think it fits better on Tatsuki)
-Buggy continues to be a riot in every scene he's in. XD
-Wow, Squardo stabbing Whitebeard was excellent. 10/10. -
Trap-chan has been named. His name is Izou.
-

Just watched it for the first time on the funimation website. I only discovered this simulcast thing like.. last week, heh. (FREAKIN AMAZING that they're doing this. I haven't bought any One Piece manga or any other merch, so this makes me feel like i'm supporting lol)
Good ep, the Pacifistas are epic as usual, freaking lasers out of their mouths man. Is um.. axeman.. Vegapunk's bodyguard dude, is he voiced by Luffy's VA? I can hear a bit of Luffy in him. I couldn't detect any filler in this ep, there probably was but the fact that I didn't see it is a good sign.
The opening never gets old. It makes me sad every time I hear it though.
! for obvious reasons.
! I just can't wait until they animate the shot of Luffy and Ace standing side by side with Ace's flames surrounding them. I CAN'T WAIT to see that :D
! This one:
! >! -

They kinda sound similar, but no. Luffy is voiced by Mayumi Tanaka, and Sentoumaru is voiced by Kazue Ikura.

Don't know if this is a recent thing, or if it's been like this for a few weeks, but now all of their subbed episodes (not just the older ones) have been uploaded to Hulu, rendering them completely unwatchable for anyone outside of America. I can't stand it when companies do that - there are English-speaking people outside of America that would want to watch videos, contrary to what companies seem to believe!

Hmm.. I live in Canada too and I watched it on the official site. I think they put up the video for US & Canada on the first two days and then afterwards put up Hulu. Try catching it the day they release it, friday or saturday.

It's not FUNimation's fault.
They're a North American company and can only secure the North American Rights. That's why when Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was being simulcasted, you had to watch them on FUNimation's site if you were in North America, and on Madman's Site if you were in Aus.

Well, Canada's a part of North America.
Running the episodes on Hulu is a lot easier on their servers, probably, hence why they switched to them.
-
Believe me, I doubt there's a person here who doesn't want an American release for Strong World. Sure, I want the other movies and specials as well, but this movie comes first in my book.
