So yesterday I received my "One Piece - Skypiea 2" French DVD set which I ordered from Amazon France (interestingly, it was shipped two days before it was supposed to come out), and figured I might as well write about it in detail here.
First of all, pictures. The front looks like this, the back looks like this, the inside case looks like this from the front and this from the back, and the open case looks like this. Just to get this out of the way.
Now, for the actual contents. This set includes episodes 157 through 169 (meaning, the same episodes as FUNimation's "Season 3 Second Voyage"). It includes two audio tracks, the French dub and original Japanese version. Two subtitle tracks are provided (both for the Japanese version): in French and Dutch. The subtitles are accurately translated from the original dialogue (i.e. they are not "dubtitles"). Video-wise, the openings and endings have French credits (there is no angle track with the original Japanese credits) and episode titles (which are a straight translation of the original Japanese, too). The opening and ending songs were not dubbed (they are in Japanese even in the dub audio track). The eyecatches were also removed from the episodes, although interestingly, they were used for the menu transitions on the DVDs. An example of what these credits look like can be seen
and (Do note that I ripped these with the Japanese audio track, though. I don't particularly care much for the dub, though it seems to be pretty good, and the French Gold Roger in OP3 sounds awesome). An odd thing is that the subtitle and audio track change functions were locked during normal play for some reason (i.e. on a non-cracked DVD, you can't switch audio or subtitle tracks in the middle of an episode… who knows why). That's pretty much it. Anybody interested in anything else?
