Preview for #8.
GfEqnc7MMFQ -
fuck yeah. That's the one i've truly been waiting for.
Time for ol' Alucard to bring out his chess pieces
Norio Wakamoto will probably make my head blow up in this comming OVA
-
With Pip's death done, the other two things I'm really looking forward to is Anderson vs Alucard and Walter vs Alucard.
After that everything went crazy lmao. <3
-
OVA 8….Chapter 98....Its taken too long for both to be released.
I'm resorting to continuous streams of AMV's.

Chapter 98?… The manga ends at chapter 95 though.
Also, we've finished our HQ Hellsing OVA VII fansub!
Head over to our website to get the softsub file for yourself!

Yay for subs!
Hopefully someone cool can make an awesome hard-encode. :O

I am completely behind on Hellsing, so I was wondering if anyone can fill me in on how many OVAs are out now and if they plan to cover all of the manga (of which I have not finished reading.) I see from Rin's post above that the manga ends at chapter 95, so I am wondering if they intend to finish it in the OVAs or not.
EDIT: Ok, I see now that they are on OVA 8 now, holy shit did I miss alot. So how far along in the manga are they then?
-
The manga is over, at chapter 95. XD

Check my signature, it's got a link to our Hellsing site, we've got TONS of information there.
The OVAs have faithfully adapted the Manga pretty much 100% the whole way.
OVA VII ends on Chapter 55 - "Ogre Battle", and OVA VIII's trailer shows images from as far as Chapter 61. Each OVA is at least 45 minutes, sometimes more, and has a Movie-level budget, so they're GREAT!Check our site for more info, we have everything on the Manga storyline and everything.

Thanks, I'll put your site in my bookmarks and check it out tomorrow some time. I noticed your link quite some time ago actually, but now I've got some incentive to join since I feel like catching up with this classic. May as well now while the OVAs are still fresh.
So do these come out once a year?

2-3 Times a year actually, but now that Madhouse has taken over the animation, it seems to be speeding up!
-
And how far as the OVA been dubbed, if at all yet? I kinda fell behind on that information. Can't remember if and when dubbed Ultimate came out…

And how far as the OVA been dubbed, if at all yet? I kinda fell behind on that information. Can't remember if and when dubbed Ultimate came out…
OVA I-III was dubbed by New Generation Pictures and Distributed by Geneon
Then Geneon USA Died
OVA IV was dubbed again by New Gen Pictures and Distributed by FUNimation
Then Geneon Japan Died, it was bought by Universal. Now they're Geneon-Universal.
The death of Geneon on BOTH Fronts has caused a complicated rights issue, and until that rights issue gets fixed, ALL releases of Hellsing outside of Japan are on Hiatus until further notice.
It sucks, the Hellsing dub is superb
-
Didn't FUNimation buy the rights to Hellsing Ultimate a couple years ago when they blitzed Geneon's library? I remember this being mentioned during their Otakon '08 panel. Or did I miss something?

Yeah, they got the rights to release episodes 1-4. The Rights are held up on the Japanese side of production due to Geneon Japan dying too.

Wow, things have gotten better than when I kept up with the first four being released! I'll be sure to try and catch up.
I still can't believe that rights issue still hasn't been taken care of. Hasn't Geneon been dead for years now? You would think the Japanese company would want their series to reach international fans.
-

The downside of posting on a phone.
Lol at 98, I wish.

EDIT Bump: FUNimation announced today at AX10 and
that they have acquired the rights to continue releasing Hellsing in English with Hellsing V-VII.
SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY I COULD SCREAM!
Now I wonder if they'll be releasing Hellsing Kai on Blu-ray now…
-
I can only hope they outsource the dubbing to the old studio…. they do that sometimes, right?

Hare+Guu was outsourced to BangZoom.
Plus, even if they don't, when they got Tenchi Muyo, they did everything they could to reunite the old cast (They didn't get Ryoko but that was because the actress didn't want to come back)
And they got the Slayers Revolution recently, and they also reassembled the majority of the old cast, including Crispin Freeman as Zelgadis. So we know Crispin'll work with them.I'd say until an announcement is made, there's no reason to worry about the dub.
EDIT: They also announced they've acquired the Hellsing TV series too, it's getting a re-release in 2011 too. I didn't much like it in comparison to the OVAs to be honest, but it's good for people who did like it because it's been out of print since Geneon USA died.

OOH, that trailer looks AWESOME! I still need to get the manga so I can find out what happens next.
Now regarding the new info on the dub, do you think they will be able to get all the original cast back for this?
And regarding this HD remaster you mentioned, I'm assuming the changes and scene additions are only going to be for the Blue-ray release and there is no new DVD plans? I really need to get myself a blue-ray player…
-
Damn! What a time for me to be poor!
Otherwise I'd be all over those DVDs. -

No, Madhouse are focusing on the Hellsing I-IV HD Remake right now.
"2010" is still all we have for Hellsing VIII.
As for the dub, I co-own the biggest Hellsing site on the internet, so I just contacted FUNi about getting a press release or an interview or something with more information on that. So now, waiting game…

Alucard returns coming down the Thames. Awesome Stuff happens.

They could easily get the original cast back, FUNimation makes a habit of doing that whenever they can. Just look at their handling of Tenchi Muyo and The Slayers. And Slayers featured Crispin Freeman.
The question is whether or not they CAN get everybody back, but I suspect it won't be much of a problem.

As of right now, it's Blu-ray only, but it's also JAPAN only right now, nothing about a domestic release yet. Maybe after FUNimation gets OVAs V-VII going they can then worry about re-releasing the HD remakes, and maybe give them scaled down DVD releases.
I dunno, I have a PS3 so I'm TOTALLY getting everything on Blu-ray from here on out.
I'll have to ask FUNimation this if I can get an interview on Hellsing.
-
I have a few questions about the Hellsing OVA. My sister and I want to watch it.
First off, is 'Hellsing OVA' and 'Hellsing Ultimate' the same thing?
Second, is there anyway I could get the currently released DUBBED DVDs in a pack instead of individually? And if so, is it cheaper?
-
No, Madhouse are focusing on the Hellsing I-IV HD Remake right now.
But…..wasn't OVA I-IV by Satelight?
-
@bunshindattebayo:

Exactly, that's why they're remaking them. Click the "HELLSING KAI" logo in my sig for more info.

"Hellsing Ultimate" is the name they gave to the series for the US Release, in Japan it's just "Hellsing".
Kinda like Dragon Ball Kai. In Japan, it's called "Dragon Ball Kai", in the US FUNimation added a "Z" to it making it "Dragon Ball Z Kai".
So, yes, they are the same thing.
As for your second question, no, there are no collections yet. Just the individual volumes.

Whoa, sorry for the late reply. I totally forgot to check this thread before.
Thanks for the info as usual. I have no doubts of them getting Freeman, but I do wonder about the others. It seems like the cast really worked hard in their roles, so I think getting them to return wouldn't be too hard.
Well, I decided to save up for a Blu-Ray player. My biggest concern of switching before was whether or not you could play DVDs in the Blu-Ray player as well, and I read that you can (at least in the one I'm saving for.) And the prices have come down compared to when I first looked a while back. Here's hoping we can get Hellsing in HD here in the states.
-
wait wait…
so funi has got the go ahead to get the rest out?
FUUUUUUCCKKK YEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
i'm a happy panda right now. Hell yes.
-
I really didn't think it would happen, but it did. On top of that, they are also finishing other unfinished series like Shakugan no Shana. At least to me, FUNi is the best dubbing company. I like VIZ too, but FUNi is the best.
-
invokes thread necromancy
So still no Hellsing Ultimate 8, then?
-
fuck, its been so long i don't even remeber if i watched ova vii? :S
-
WITH ALL THE POWER I POSSESS, I COMMAND THIS THREAD TO LIIIIIIIIIVE!Lots of stuff has happened Hellsing-wise.
We have confirmation of a "Final" Season of Hellsing being greenlit. It's OVAs VIII-X, and it will close out the series. OVA VIII seems to be coming out in 2011 now.
The OVA I-V Blu-ray box has come out, and raws are SLOWLY starting to hit the net. We only have the redone OVA I so far, but it looks fucking SPECTACULAR!
Here's a Link to the Raw
Here's a Link to a version that claims to have English, French, and German Subs on it. (Haven't DLed this one yet, so can't confirm)Anybody who is a Hellsing fan NEEDS to see this… they did REALLY GODDAMN GOOD on it!
-
I feel I need to ask many blatantly obvious questions now.
1. Aside from massive quality upgrade, what's the difference between the BD versions coming out now and the older versions?
2. So this is why there have been delays with newer eps?
3. Am I an idiot or something? I keep thinking Call To Arms subs this OVA, but I can never figure out where to DL the script… Never mind, I'm still an idiot since it's still right where it was before the site got changed around.
Anyway, that's all I got to ask for now.

Click the "HELLSING KAI" link in my signature.
OVA I was the most artistically bad, so the art, coloring and lighting in it has been almost completely redone. Like 50-60% of the art has been redone, mostly shots of Alucard. They've been completely redrawn and they look amazing now.
OVAs II-IV have been cleaned up too, but to a lesser extent because they already looked pretty good.
They also fixed mistakes, for example, in the Manga, Alucard pulls the Casull on Luke Valentine the first time he shoots him while sitting down. The OVA Changed it to the Jackal, which makes no sense since the Jackal is powerful enough to blow his legs clean off later and can even blow Anderson's head clean off. The new BD version changes it back to the Casull.@vyse&homunculus:

Yes.

Once again, Thread Necrobump for News.
Hellsing OVA VIII Has a new trailer with a new tentative release date
SPRING 2011 -
Damn that was cool, was hoping to see it sometime last year…oh well spring it is.
-
Damn its time for Alucard's 'Wan Mirrion Troops' uber hax attack.
I really hope we get to his final battle with Anderson as well.
But that might be a little ambitious. -
Started this last summer and finally got back to it. Read up to Chapter 13. Liking the series.
-
You have nothing to worry flux since there are no new chapters to catch up to.

Yeah, I know the manga is finished; I started reading it last Summer, but I had other stuff to do and only got round to reading the first few chapters. I'm liking it so far, Alucard is quite badass.

If you don't already know, avoid the TV series as its crap.
Watch the OVAs instead, they're awesome. -

It's a really good story, though the Art doesn't get good until Volume 3.
Oh, and if you watch the OVAs (which I HIGHLY recommend) make sure you watch the Blu-ray versions of OVAs I-IV. They look much better.
-
Finally watched all the OVAs available here in the US.
God damn I fucking love Anderson.
-
If you don't already know, avoid the TV series as its crap.
Watch the OVAs instead, they're awesome.Hells no! Watch them both. The OVA sticks with, the story the Tv series is a lot more stylish and has a far better soundtrack and the animation is good either way. The parts that where covered by both I like a lot more in the Tv series.
