They showed the Rumba Captain in this flashback? Where at?
Don't pay attention, it's just SeriusReader.
Yorky is gone for 40+ years already by the flashback's time.

Lol, that kid is still around doing his stuff? Oh igno list how I love you!
@robbybedfart:
If only Kuina had heard a vague rumor about Ivanokov and his gender bending abilities, she would have had hope and ambition and a dream and survived the fall, no problem.
But she was resigned to suck and saw it as inescapable fate.
Its her outlook that killed her, not the fall.
In this series, dreams overcome ALL. Its been the standard for 13 years. Those without dreams, or who have fullfilled them, can die. Anyone WITH a dream? Is immortal.
So you do agree that a female can be somehow stronger in muscular strength if she is turned into male by Ivankov's hormone?????
Do you agree, Ivotas?

I just don't even know what to say to this level of ignoranceā¦ The revolutionaries are specifically said to be on a different island. Followed by an appearance of Kuina training, and the mention of a dojo. Not to mention Ace is still on Dawn Island.
About Sabo being deadā¦ at least read a post or two on the thread, and use common sense before debasing people's theories with crap like this. What genius do you think believed Sabo was alive because of that?

You probably don't care, but I agree.

Because this is Arlong Park, the land of pointless arguments about One Piece.

Well ok, I do think that she would be stronger then because one's very own physical strenght is far superior to ridiculous shit like strap-ons for instance. :ninja:
What genius do you think believed Sabo was alive because of that?
You mean that isn't the panel that everybody is talking about?!?
And here was i thinking that Sabo was alive and he appeared in front of Luffy and Ace but Oda had forgotten to give a explanation and then Sabo left the island again offscreen.
I must have missed a whole page or something:wassat:

I read the chapter last night ā¦ I'm reading this topic today ... I clearly need to read the chapter again X3 Noticed the sword thing but for some reason didn't equate it with Zoro, definitely need to re-look this one over.
Also, this discussion is EXACTLY why I'm glad I'm trying to keep current alongside catching up on everything ... I <3 seeing such discussion about what may or may not happen in the immediate future ... I haven't seen stuff like this since Deathly Hallows came out ... you all are awesome ^^

You know how much I like to confuse people on things for fun, I figured I'd come out with it here though.
Well it seems that my ORIGINAL PREDICTION was 100% Correct![hide]#1
@Sage:
I can see people are really going crazy as to the fate of Sabo in the series.
There is a theory that Luffy presumes Sabo dead but that is quickly debunked by Dogura letting Luffy know that Sabo is safe but not around.
There is one way this still could work. At the end of the chapter you see the villagers/nobles at the coast awaiting the arrival of the Tenryuubito and that's when they notice Sabo on the fishing boat heading out to sea. They shout to "Come Back!" because he is going to ruin the ceremony. I can see someone shooting down the boat to avoid any discrepancies with the Tenryuubito. Hell, the Tenryuubito could very well be the ones shooting down the boat.
Sabo is now in the water and the shooters could leave him there assuming he will be eaten or not survive or they can continue shooting and him get away somehow but still be stranded in the seaā¦.and that is when Dragon's ship scoops him up behind the scenes but to the villagers and to Sabo's father, he is dead....which means word could get to Luffy and Ace that he is dead.
May be a little far fetched but it could work.
#2
@Sage:
Exactly, and this works well with my theory. At the end of this chapter we see Sabo sailing off in his own boat while a crowd of townspeople (even nobles?) shout and scream at him. One shouting that he is going to ruin the ceremony that is being held in light of the Tenryuubito's arrival.
With this being set, I can picture Sabo's ship getting shot down by angered townspeople or even the Tenryuubito ships themselvesā¦making it look like he was blown up but was really washed away at sea to be saved by Dragon behind the scenes. The news and shock of a nobles son's death, especially one who ruined/almost ruined the Tenryuubito ceremony + is known to be reckless + seen with the likes of Bluejam Crew, Luffy, and Ace, should travel fast to Luffy and/or Ace.
To Ace, Luffy, Dandan and everyone in Goa Kingdom...Sabo is dead. To Dragon, Sabo is going to grow up to be a fine high ranked Revolutionary.
It could work.
#3 @Sage:
[speculation] Well when the Tenryuubito decided to shoot down his ship because he was "in the way" of the ceremony and an "eyesore" to the World Nobles he barely escaped alive but was washed out at sea. Then, as we all know, Dragon picked him up and made him into a fine Revolutionary soldier. Given the fact that we know the Revolutionaries are well organized and patriotic to their cause, Sabo was unable to leave his extremely important duties to go find Ace or Luffy. Not that he didn't want to or he didn't careā¦it's just that he had more of an obligation to take care of business.[/speculation]
I don't think that Sabo sacrificed his Brothers at all, just made a sacrifice for them. He knew that if he stayed at Goa Kingdom, all it would do is bring trouble upon himself and his Brothersā¦nothing was going to change. He set out to sea, a dream that all 3 of them had...knowing this I am sure he expected to be reunited at some point...whether that happens or not is up to future events and circumstances...and we all know he isn't going to meet up with Ace....wait a second.........maybe he did (prior to Ace's death) but it was never mentioned....hmmm....anyway....so yeah...this is all if he lives past this flashback. I am leaning toward yes.

Which also means that my campaign is also a success!

@Sage:
What is the point of Oda, after such a long time in the series, finally showing us a real time death to only drown it with a flashback death RIGHT after? Why even go through the trouble of declaring Sabo as a 3rd brother instead of a good friend? For character development? Ya know whatā¦fuck that...it does't even matter.
Why would Oda set up the meeting between Sabo and Dragon and show how Dragon was truly affected by what Sabo was going through...? He could have gotten Sabo killed and cause the same effect on Ace and Luffy without all the extra shit...it just seems Oda has involved Sabo way too much for him to be killed off now.
Why would Oda create this scene to leave us guessing like this...if he wanted us to know Sabo is dead then he would give us indisputable evidence of such...unless he is going to the next chapter. We can't really argue about this until the flashback is OVER
If Oda were asked if Sabo is dead...no matter what answer he may give...we will know the truth. If Sabo was meant to be dead then he would confirm it...otherwise him not wanting to comment on that most likely means he isn't dead.
The important part is that Luffy and Ace believe he is dead...and as we can see with the chapter release...that is exactly the case.
All this talk about Sabo being dead robs this and robs that...bullshit...Sabo dying robs Ace's death and Luffy's lamentation of it...how bout' that?
The set up for this "death" is just way too easy. There is a reason Oda did it this way as oppose to just giving indisputable evidence of Sabo's death.
Given how Oda is and how he feels about death, it's all common sense that that Sabo is alive. I could be wrong...and if I am...well...that was a shitty end to such a promising character...and I do not see myself saying such words about Oda...never have...never will because I will never underestimate him.
SABO IS ALIVE!
Join the campaign!

So yeah, me FTW. On a different note,
LOVED the Zoro and Kuina cameo, thought that was awesome. This actually turned out to be a very emotional chapter to me.
I was so caught up in the Sabo business that I sometimes would forget what sparked this flashback in the first place. I quite enjoyed the way Oda presented this chapter to us, like a montage of the events that transpired after the Sabo incidentā¦Ace crying over Luffy being hurt, him leaving at 17 and making a name for himself, Luffy hell bent on getting stronger and stronger in order to protect his Nakama, Luffy finally getting good control over Pistol, and then him leaving at 17 shouting his resolve to the world...flip the page and you see him all fucked up crying and admitting that he is weak....fucking crazy shit.
This is all taking a huge toll on Luffy....enough pressure on him could make him stronger...he HAS TO GET STRONGERā¦.WAY STRONGERā¦.and you all know what that means.....
We are in for a plethora of eye and brain orgies served by none other than the brain fuck master himself, Oda.
Prepare for the ride.
What is it that you predicted exactly? That he was alive and Dragon saved him?
Will we see Sbo next chapter along with Dragon in the present?
High cance, I think.

Somebody missed somethingā¦did you read the reasons why people were voting Aohige (me included)
:ninja: Like I said, trump card!
Maybe I would have actually voted against Aohige, because those damn spoiler threads keep taunting me
Haven't caught up on discussion yet, but I saw your signature andā¦ a few questions: Did anyone really think Whitebeard would live? Anyone worthwhile, I mean? Also, wasn't your Ace prediction based off an old spoiler that was more or less confirmed with the reveal of Duval and a few other things? I know you (among others) were actively arguing about the other "Luffy loses an arm" spoiler in that thread, as well as claiming Ace would die. Lastly, wasn't the Sabo prediction closer to "Sabo won't die", with the reasoning being that it wouldn't serve a purpose to have another death weighing down on Luffy's emotional baggage*? Of course the majority of argumentation changed last chapter, to which many (myself included) figured the more likely scenario had Sabo dead since the flashback was wrapping up and the Rev's had already left.
WeI was wrong about that, but correct about everything else; namely the flashback ending with the moment on the hill, some snapshots with Ace leaving, and then getting back to real time Luffy believing Sabo was dead.
Of his prediction, the only one that isn't obvious is that Ace would die.
Kuma = Sabo cyborged
BÄsoromyÅ« Kuma is an anagram for Sabo Okay Rum Um
Further proof: they both have legs, arms and a head
Rumba captain as well there, flashbacks are nice because you see a lot other people when they are younger etc, but glad that this borement is over. I was too excited about Luffys history, but..
I noticed a guy that looks like Captain York too, but its clearly not him
@$abZ:
Which Revolutionary pushed Kuina down the stairs that night?
lol if you look at the moon, it's clear Kuina didn't die when the Revolutionaries were around. Zoro and Kuina's last duel was during a full moon, and the Revolutionaries already left.

Yeah, and Oda once drew Crocodile without his hook. Errors can happen. :ninja:
Definitely the best chapter in a couple of years. Loved the flashback.

Very nice chapter. It nice to see a good conclusion to the flash back. I can't wait to see how Luffy will over come this.
@JERK:
Yes. You can read back on the thread. I had my doubts all along, it had to happened thematically, but Oda? Go through with it? Would he? Would he really?
Wow, I don't remember that at all. I thought that if there was any one thing for certain during the war, it was Whitebeard's death. Especially after Ace died, I was just waiting for Blackbeard to show up and finish the job.
@JERK:
Again, people in the know, still doubted it. A lot of people on NPC were highly skeptical, and they all knew the secret spoilers back and forth. When he got free from the stand people started dropping off the boat like flies, but I held on, and lo and behold.
Ah, well, I didn't know the spoiler content myself until after the fact, but I remember when they surfaced back in 2008. Oddly enough I had heard of the one you apparently spread; that one must have managed to pick up even more steam than Duval, Luffy vs. Blackbeard, and Ace's spoilers because it was the only one whose content actually made it to my ears.
@JERK:
That's the reason I thought he wouldn't die. And if I were claiming anything else in my sig.
Oh, well if it's just a one-chapter prediction, then ok. I figured I would bring it up since tons of people were clamoring for 'no death' for Sabo because it wouldn't make sense for Luffy, etc, etc. Some even to the point of saying it would be bad writing (for that reason). It's one of those half right, half wrong situations. He died for all dramatic purposes in the flashback, but he didn't, in fact, actually die.
Solid chapter. The flashback is finally over and I have no complaints regarding the content.
I suppose my only complaints at the moment are that Ace died under the misinformation about Sabo, and that Oda did a poor job setting up Sabo's character given he obviously plans to make much more use of him. Aside from that, the flashback itself was pretty good, I think. Also really looking forward to more Revolutionary biz w/ the inclusion and added connection of Sabo.
@Robo:
What is it that you predicted exactly? That he was alive and Dragon saved him?
Try reading the post.
Revolutionaries are gonna have a hierarchy and Sabo's going to be pretty high up there by this point. It'll be interesting to see what Oda will do with him, Luffy doesn't really need a friend in the revolutionaries as it's led by his daddy. Makes me think Sabo's future role will be more than that.
Sabi is to Dragon what Ace was to WB
Sabi is to Dragon what Ace was to WB
That would be cool AND fucked up at the same timeā¦.Dragon treating Sabo more like a son than his REAL sonā¦.
Yeah, and Oda once drew Crocodile without his hook. Errors can happen. :ninja:
Yep, Arlong had human teeth once.
Anyhoo, great chapter as usual. I loved the montage of Luffy and Ace training and growing up. Interesting to see that Sabo is still alive, but why he never showed up at Marineford is yet-to-be-seen. I'm especially interested in seeing where Oda is going from this point in the story.
After losing his crew (sure, they're more-or-less okay, but stillā¦), Bon Clay's sacrifice, and going through all that trouble just for Ace to die right in front of him, Luffy has every reason to doubt himself. How is he going to snap out of this depression? I can't say for sure because I'm terrible at trying to predict Oda's next move.
Chapter was ok. Looking forward to seeing where things stand next week, with that ending we just got that has been coming for a while.
That would be cool AND fucked up at the same timeā¦.Dragon treating Sabo more like a son than his REAL sonā¦.
Not that wayā¦
I mean Ace was pretty important for WB in terms of character (wanted to make him PK) but on the same time he wasn't the most IMPORTANT or STRONGEST commander. (Marco probably was the 2nd in command)
So I can see it with Sabo the same way. He has an important role but isn't the right hand of Dragon
I'm pretty sure I mentioned this before the flashback started, but considering Hancock was cooking Luffy a massive feast the last time we saw herā¦ that she goes to him with this giant feast for him and is excited to see him up again... and Luffy then depressed and says"I'm not hungry".
That would just be heartbreaking. Luffy, not hungry?
Of course, since I've guessed a specific scene out of thin air with no past context at all, as opposed to a vague plot point, it really is a completely random guess and won't happen that way at all. but I think it would be an amazing moment, full of potential to get an interesting reaction out of Hancock. And of course, the heartbreak of Luffy (after two weeks of recouping!) not being hungry for the first time ever.
Should see next week, I suppose.
Don't know if it's been said but the part with the revolutionaries talking about bad injuries isn't talking about Sabo, it's more than likely refering to the injuries of the people of trash mountain. Remember that they were all saved from the fire by Dragon and are on the ship.
