I think that certain classes in the this series know what devil fruits they're getting before eating them. What I mean is what if the marines had a consisitent and reiable way of getting the same devil fruits throughout the years. Like the positions of Ao Kiji, Aka Inu, and Kizaru are the same through the ages, with diffferent people occupying the positions. But the marines always give the admiral position the same 3 devil fruits, to fit the bill. I think this may be the same with Pell and Chaka.

Admirals do not always have the same powers. Sengoku was Admiral before being Fleet Admiral, for instance, and Garp was almost an Admiral (he turned down the offers to rise in rank).
About Pell and Chaka, I've always wondered that myself, since their animal forms are related to Alabasta's tradition.

Sure, there's a DF encyclopedia you know, it was stated twice by Sanji (vs Absalom about the invisibility fruit) and Teach (vs Ace).
So it's quite normal to think that some people know wich fruit it is right before they consume it. -

So it's quite normal to think that some people know wich fruit it is right before they consume it.Just to add: Kaku also mentions it when he receives his fruit from Spandam, and Oda answered about it in a SBS when asked how Shank's crew knew their fruit was a Gomu Gomu No Mi. Not all fruits are present or have pictures in the book, though (Kaku's and Kalipha's weren't), so they can't always be correctly identified.
-
About the Chaka-Pell thing, I think it's fair enough to say that the top Guards of the Alabasta Royal Family always receive the jackal and falcon fruits, though we don't know enough about how Devil Fruits are created or how they're passed on to make any firm conclusions.
My view would be that the "Jackal Tree" and "Falcon Tree" grow in an oasis somewhere in Alabasta, somewhere only known to the Royal Family. Not all generations of Royal Guards would be able to have the Fruits, though, since there's probably some time lag between the death of the Fruit user and the Fruit's rebirth.

I think that too…
but I don't think that Mihawk will join BlackBeard...
If BB-crew is really the last opponent... then Zoro should seperate from the crew to dace Mihawk why the others fight the rest
Shiryuu is a swordsman and Brook is too, stupid fag.

Here is one for you.
During Blackbeard fight with Ace he mentioned that he memorized what the Yami Yami no mi looked like. Now here's my question What happened to the guy who had this, if the fruit is as strong as Blackbeard says it is why doesnt he still have it? Or is it from the void century theory? -

Or an illness. A lot of people seem to get uncurable diseases in One Piece.

Does anyone think that maybe Sabo is behind the Morias assasination? Doflamingo said that order came "higher," and world nobles are higher than Sengoku. This would feed the theory of Sabo being some high-class world noble nowadays.
I dont know, i just think that it would fit… -
Not really, it's likely just orders from the Five Elder Stars.
Moria was already on thin ice due to what happened at Thriller Bark, and his performance at Marineford was simply in their eyes a confirmation that he's no longer of any use to them as an Armed Sea.
-
A random mystery with little to no relation to this new character?
Hell I bet he's behind it. -
I haven't checked the last pages yet but i have a theory about Sabo:
Sabo is really Law. I thought about this while reading the recent flashback.
Here are some points that i have in my head right now:- Law is a skilled surgeon/doctor, so it's possible that being the son of a noble (or through other means) he had time to study medicine and later went away to become a pirate instead. Also Laws skills may expand more than just being a surgeon, like for example like a dentist, explaining why he probably have a plastic teeth around his hole.
- I don't remember ever seeing him without his hat so please correct me here. One difference i noticed was that during his childhood Sabo had a big head, so i wouldn't doubt that having his big has kinda hides it. (not that im saying he has a reason to hide it, just that it could make him less suspicious as Sabo for the readers)
- Sabo appearing in the flashback may be there to give Law som better backstory.
This is what i can think of right now but there's still some things im still in doubt about this:
- The flashback isn't over yet so i can't really back up much of this. He may even die so it could make this theory mute.
- While Luffy not remembering Sabo due to long time seeing eachother for a long time and for his different appearence it still doesn't explain why Law wouldn't remember Luffy or at least greet him as Sabo. Though maybe it's too much thinking, since maybe Oda didn't really think of having Law appear that much if it wasn't for his popularity.
- Wasn't Law ordered by Shanks to come and save Luffy instead of his own will? I wonder what Shanks would have done if Law refused? Not really a contradiction but a thought if why Law himself didn't come to save Ace. Still, Sabo didn't appear until the flashback after the war so it would have been kinda weird for the readers if he did.
-
Sabo is really Law.
I don't know about that.. The shape of his nose, his eyes and his hair colour is different from Law's. Their personalities doesn't really match either.
And not even Luffy is stupid enough not to recognize a childhood friend just because he coloured his hair and wears a different hat. xDBesides, Law is from North Blue, not East, so that doesn't really comport with your theory either. Unless his parents send him to a special "surgeon school" somewhere in North Blue before he became a pirate.
It WOULD be pretty awesome though. I like the idea.

Dragon is actually the son of RogerxWhitebeard and Garp adopted him after they split up. The only question is, did Ivankov make Roger the woman or Whitebeard???

if lil sabo grew out his hair the man in the center who saved robin is probably him and that would be reason enough why he was absent from the war.
edit:typo

Sabo is really Law
I disagree I think Luffy would have recognized Law as Sabo by now if Law was Sabo
-
Sabo is really Dragon.
-
Stelly grew up to become the first Mr. 7, only to be killed by Zoro.
But I wonder if a "noble" would join an organization like Baroque Works. shrugs

@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
Sabo is really Dragon.
Yeah, what he said. :ninja:

So people inhere really discuss this seriously.
-
Sabo followed Dragon after the entire incident, Luffy and Ace think he died or got away with the royals, since they seem to believe that may be his true happiness.
Back in the current time, the one who will comfort Luffy and make him calm down, will be Sabo, who got there (either AL or SA) with the help of the Revolutionaries.
-
Thanatas, sounds like a good theory for upcoming chapters. and Robin being really far away, Sabo could also be the reason she reunites with the crew later on.
-
Admit it, my theory is becoming more plausible!
In that last frame, Sabo is introduced to mysterious-high-heel-man-woman-okama Ivankov and is instantly smitten. He becomes…one of them.
-
I'm probably just being a dumbass by posting this, because i think it may be general knowledge that everyone would have, but just in case it isnt, well… yeah.
Reading volume 45 again reminded me of previous times when Luffy's bounty was discovered by other people. I was pretty sure that none of them said anything about Luffy beating Crocodile, because, pretty obviously, the World Government had covered it up. I was just curious to see if anyone did. From the end of Alabasta until the end of Water 7, no one mentioned it, except the revolutionaries. The obvious conclusion is that they had intelligence in Alabasta, or that they have moles in the WG who are high up enough to be told the truth about Alabasta. Then i thought about all of the theories about Croc secretly being somehow connected to the revolutionaries.... well, i haven't really come to any conclusions. Just thought i might point this out. Of course, it pretty much is the revolutionaries' job to know about things like this. But…? I dunno. Again, its just something that i haven't noticed before, because i'm possibly thick.
Also, i could have sworn at one point that i saw someone in Alabasta with one of those headset things that the revolutionaries wear...
-
You bring up an interesting point, though it seems to me that a few pirates knew about Luffy's defeat of Crocodile at some point…I think some people were saying stuff like, "This is the guy who beat Crocodile? He's just a kid!" or something. Though they might've been Marines or Revolutionaries...bah, I can't remember.
Anyway, if I'm remembering correctly and a few pirates were in the know about the whole Crocodile incident, that still begs the question of how they found out, right?
-
I decided to doublecheck. I thought that something like that may have been said at some point, but… apparently not.
When Bellamy's crew discovers their bounties, there's no mention of anything about the Straw Hats being in Alabasta in the paper.
Foxy's crew, again, just knows their bounties, nothing else.
Kalifa's background check on them reveals only their bounties (including Robins) and that they started off in the east blue.
CP9, upon encountering the straw hats, also don't mention it. None of the marines on Enies Lobby, not even Spandam, know that Luffy defeated Crocodile.
Aokiji knew, but that's a given, with how high up he is. I may have missed something, though, so maybe i'll give the volumes a proper read through, again :D
Aaanyway, i went to tv tropes, and a couple of theories there caught my attention. After i did a bit more reading of my own, i just collected the facts about Crocodile and Baroque Works, and put them into my own theory. All right. Four years ago, Crocodile recruited Robin. Three years ago, Ace declined the marines offer for him to become a shichibukai. If Crocodile accepted the position that Ace declined, it wouldn't be too farfetched. Well, he found his target, and he had only just started plotting. The other possibility is that he had become a shichibukai working in Alabasta before he found the information. If that was the case, then he could have spent his time there trying to uncover the info he wanted. But there's a big hole in that theory. The incredibly sensitive information he had isn't the kind of thing you find out about by snooping around the place. Only Cobra seemed aware. The freakin' KING. And he wouldn't be stupid enough to ever let info like that slip. I'm guessing that he had the info before he started Baroque Works, before he became a Shichibukai (Which gave him perfect cover to carry out the plot), and before he settled in Alabasta. He may have been investigating Alabasta before he became a Shichibukai, just to scout the place out, and develop the plot. (Although, i suppose it wouldn't make much difference if he were a shichibukai before three years ago or not) Also, why the hell would he be randomly snooping around Alabasta for gods knows how long just in case he found something interesting? That certainly doesn't make any sense, in any case.
So that then begs the question... where did he get his information? Then, i wondered again about the revolutionaries. This is the kind of intel that they would have. I would be very surprised if they didn't care about the Poneglyphs, although theorising that they knew stuff like that comes up with its own problems. Iva knew Croc when he was a rookie... the revolutionaries know that Luffy defeated Crocodile. SOMETHING is going on beneath the surface. Of course, I am theorising without much to go on, but i really want to keep along this line of thought. After all, with all of the other villains they have faced, explanations about the plots have been given. And then of course, we have another big hint at deeper workings. Crocodiles SECRET.
Well, i'm off to do more reading, just to see if i missed anything, or if there's anything else i can pick up. If you want to point something out or just argue with me, please do. I'm not EXCEEDINGLY attatched to the 'Croc is/was a revolutionary' idea, i'm just looking at it as a possibility. What i really want to do is discuss the most likely possibilities from the info we have so far.
-
I know this might be obvious for some, but I'm sure that there are still some that didn't think about this, and well, I can't help but want to get some credit over this theory, even though I'm sure someone already noticed
-Everytime Dragon is seen, wind is blowing
-It was raining the day Gol D Roger was killed
-When Luffy is about to get killed by Buggy, a thunder appears out of nowhere and hits Buggy right before the hit
-It was mentioned that it was a surprisingly snow-clear day when Ace appeared
-The reason why Jaguar D Saul woke up in Robin's island was because of the wind bringing his raft to the island, a big coincidence considering this was the exact island that he didn't want to come to.
-The reason why Gol D Roger managed to survive against Kinshiji was because of the wind that make both run
-When Portgas D Rouge was seen outside, wind was blowing
-The wind was blowing before the big war.Coincidences? I don't think so, my theory is the cliché one: "D" stands for "Destiny" and the world wants those with "D" to prevail, each death in the "D" family will undoubtedly help in that same destiny, what's the destiny? I don't know, but I assume it is Monkey D Luffy turning a Pirate King and overthrowing the World Government along with Monkey D Dragon
A cool trivia is that the only D's who didn't get affected by the climate yet are Monkey D Garp and Blackbeard.
Monkey D Garp still didn't have many appearances, so he might get his climate moment later in the seriesBlackbeard also had few appearances… However, Whitebeard has commented that Blackbeard is not a true D. Does it mean he just made up the "D" part of his name and that he's not part of the destiny?
Or does it mean that he is, in fact, going against Destiny?
It seems that the whole part about him not being a D is another clear indication that Blackbeard is VERY different from every other character.Arguably, Blackbeard waiting and waiting and getting the Devil Fruit he wanted might have been part of the Destiny, and him being the Whitebeard killer might also have been part of his destiny, but who knows if that's truly what the Destiny "wants"?
Another thing worth noting is that, as many have mentioned in plenty of forums and boards, Blackbeard is the only one who facing death, didn't smile.
Every other D seemed to smile in his death, and had a relative easy-going attitude on his possible death or failure, as long as it didn't involve their friends/crewmatesLast but not least, the D's seem to be the guys which were the former World Government, but were overthrowned by the current government, now governed by the Gorousei (which I assume weren't born in that time )
It is also worth noting what seems to be a popular theory (according to Greg from this forum), regarding "D" being half moon and angels from the sky which turned into humans after some time, this is a very curious theory, as Mariejoa seems to be a sky island.
So, what are the D's? Is it true that they are related to the Destiny? Is it true that the former D's were the former government? Is it true that the climate relates to them? And what do the Poneglyphs have to do with this?
My theory is "yes" to all the above questions, and I think that the Poneglyphs are simply stones made with great material that were part of the history while the D's were a government. What happened to them? Why is that century being hidden by Government? Why is it that it was at the start of that century that a big bridge uniting "countries" was beginning to be constructed? Is it a big bridge that unites all Sky Islands? Or something else?
Those are questions I can't answer yetSorry if this should have been in the "theories" topic, but I just thought this was way too big to be put as a single post in the thread, sorry if I'm being arrogant by thinking so :ninja:
Please, merge to the thread if I'm wrong, lol -

-The wind was blowing before the big war. While I think these events as mostly coincidence or the effect of some character's powers, I must add this one: when Ace went to Drum, it was a "strange day" because it was not snowing, as the guy telling Dalton said.
I think Dragon's and Ace's examples are due to their powers. Lightning saving Luffy was also due to Dragon's powers, IMO. The rest was just coincidence.

Coincidences? Oh, come on, some of these are way too coincidental´
The wind blowing before the war was mentioned a bunch of times, Oda wouldn't waste those panels if it served no purpose other than "this war will be full of wind" -

So thanks either waysor the anime screwing up.
I havnt read those chapters in a while though.
I think that the wind was blowing probably just cause of the big dudes haki or death in the air or something. Maybe something similar to when the clouds split when Shanks and Newgate clashed. I dont really think it has anything directly to do with the D's.

It's clearly the Cerberus Fruit's work.

So, dunno if its been discussed but I think I may know Croc's past….
From this past chapter we see the Goa Kingdom's king but his face is blanked out which either means we know the character but its shocking and/or he will play a big role in the future, I think we know the character and that character is Crocodile.
Ivankov knows his past and in this flashback it can almost be assumed the person who talked to Dragon at the end of it is Ivankov.
But how did Croc become a pirate when he was a king, that will (theory alert) be handled now by Dragon, even though he stated he "may" not have the strength to do anything I think he tries and succeeds and the Goa kingdom is one of the first to become part of the Revolution by the overthrowing of the king. Croc's goal after would also align, he wants his power back, if (still theory) he didn't have the Suna Suna fruit before he sails, after he gets overthrown he is hungry for his power back and so he sails finds the fruit and thinks he is invincible and can claim wherever he wants as his own, where he makes his mistake and claims one of WBs colonies where he then loses to WB... thats about it of what I can think of -
And… when he was a prince of Goa he was allowed to go and witness Rogers execution? Doesn't seem likely.
