Here's a neat new series running in Shonen Gangan and just picked up by Bones for an Anime.
Joey Jones lives in Center City on the West Coast. He works part-time at a Cafe to support himself and his Grandmother, and dreams of owning a Heybo; a popular new robot that is far too expensive for him. Other than that, he's a fairly normal kid. But one day, when a friend of his, Professor Denton, manages to make contact with an Alien race, his life drastically changes.
While hanging with his best friend Sai, he watches the rich kids accidentally destroy their Heybo. After they junk it, he retrieves it and makes an effort to repair it.
What happens next depends on the media, but in both ways the Heybo (named Heroman by Joey) is eventually struck by special lightning caused by the Alien Race coming through Warp to Earth. His controller becomes a huge gauntlet that Joey wears on his arm, and Heybo becomes 10 feet tall. How he functions is different according to the media.
In the Anime, Heroman reads Joey's thoughts and displays an appropriate symbol on the circle located on the gauntlet. After Joey gets a symbol, he must press down on it to cause Heroman to initiate that action.
In the manga, The Gauntlet allows Heroman to not only read Joey's thoughts, but to act according to his will. He only needs to issue the command to make Heroman perform it.
In both Media, this series seems to be entertaining. There's only 2 episodes out right now (And only 1 subbed at the moment that I could find) and only a few manga chapters, but hopefully it'll be around a while. It's a common but an entertaining story so far, and has good art. And Bones hardly ever shirks on the animation quality.
