Yeah, I heard about that.
Coolness.
YESSSS!!!!
My all time favorite beat-em-up!! Can't wait to play as Cody again.
Review up in IGN says that the online multiplayer support is enabled so when you play, someone can just join up your game like an arcade and help you pwn Mad Gear Gang cronies.
^^ Good times.
:ninja:(found out a year ago about Poison being a betweener and I HAD to tell my friend who used to be ALL about her in SF3… not the same man ever since :V):ninja:
^I could never figure if the decision to make Poison 'inbetween' was decided when the character was being developed or if it was after the US FF game was released @_@

I believe she was an inbetweener from the start…

I thought Poison was a "Male –-Oh my motherfucking god! Why?!?!–-> Female"
I got this a few days ago. It's still really fun. I forgot how hilarious it is when you do the Street Fighter-esque Destroy the Car Bonus Stage and afterwards the car owner walks up and cries out "Oh, my God!"
One thing that bummed me out about it was I was confused by reading that it is an HD filtered game on its description. I was extremely amped to see awesome new artwork with Cody, Guy, Haggar, Rolento, etc in Udon/SFA3-style HD sprites, but it's just a filter.
Still need to try Magic Sword and beat FF one more time with Haggar to have the trophies.

Well if it's any [minor] consolation the GBA Final Fight Port for some weird reason used the Alpha sprites of Cody & Guy.

Interesting. They just swapped Cody's outfit or something? Since he only had the prison garb in SFA3.
The game is fun. Magic Sword too, is a blast.
Anyone playing these?

Poison and Roxy were supposed to be two women you fight.
Someone on the American side of production thought hitting girls would have been a bad Idea, so they changed her story to make her a Crossdresser in both Japan and America.
They still removed her from the English version. (thought she stayed in the Sega CD Version) And her story became set in stone.
When asked recently, the SFIV director said her gender was now regional. In both regions, she started out male but in America she's a Post-Op Transsexual (Meaning she's all woman now) while in Japan, she just "Tucks her business away to look female" meaning she's a Transvestite with breast implants in Japan, IE they still consider her a Man in Japan. Also, I've seen a Japanese Street Fighter Character guide book that has the characters split up by Gender (IE, there's a "Man" section and a "Woman" section) Poison is in the Man section.
I always tend to lean towards the Japanese side of things on principal, so that's the story I believe.

Yeah he had the blue & white stripes.

Poison's secret makes you wanna get drunk
As far as I am concerned Poison is a woman.
Anyways, not playing this because of Capcom's DRM on PS3.
Far as I'm concerned Poison's female, anything else is recon BS. This only started due to sexism (or as they tend to call it in polite company, "chivalry"), and basically escalated into an unstoppable joke. Also not like SFIV's director has any say in the characters history anyways.
I'm interested in picking this up, but $10 is too much, they didn't even revamp the graphics. Also someone noted that all the "cheapness" to drain quarters is still present, so they didn't even bother to re-balance the gameplay. Gonna wait for a $4.99-$6.99 PSN sale which WILL happen.
I see a little bit of myself in Poison. Not too sure why though.
Poison's a bitch anyway. Lot of hotter, less bitchier, and cooler video game chicks.

Why would you tweak the default difficulty of an old school 2D side scroller games like these pride themselves on being unbelievably cheap you take that away the game loses a bit of it's soul.
As annoying as the DRM thing is…the games are pretty fun.
Take note that if you log in, then disconnect from the net while playing the game, you will NOT be 'kicked' out of the game.

I'm not questioning old-school difficulty, but cheap money-grabbing tactics that are no longer relevant. I'm not asking for the game to made easier, just updated to acknowledge it's no longer a quarter draining arcade cabinet.

What's DRM?

What cheap tactics? The game is really pretty easy, to be honest.
@Syan:
What's DRM?
"Digital Rights Management" notorious among consumers (or gamers in this case) for limiting the amount of times software can be used or installed on a specific platform.
So basically it's anti-piracy? I can understand that.
I can understand being fusty about some other companies DRM (y hello thar EA) but Capcom apologized heartily for not letting it be known you needed a connection to play, and honestly, it is not that serious in this case.
And Poison has been stated repeatedly (by people other than just SFIV's creator - though I don't see why he isn't a credible Capcom representative) to be a post-op transsexual in the US (a man to woman) and a hermaphrodite in japan. It's done, it's canon. Everything in the character's history more or less references the fact that she isn't totally a woman. What is the big deal? Ono said "Let's set the record straight" it's fair to assume his is the conclusive answer considering people have been asking Capcom this for two damn decades.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_%28Final_Fight%29
Everyone who wants to fight with themselves over Poison's gender is only doing it because they don't want to feel bad feeling attracted to a imaginary tranny.
The game is fun. Magic Sword too, is a blast.
Anyone playing these?
My friend downloaded this and we went to town on both games. Loved both games in my youth. Final Fight is a die-a-thon but still fun since there are endless continues. I forgot how much of a bad ass Hagar is. Magic Sword is as much fun as I remember even if it's die-a-thon too. I like all the different henchmen you get on the way.

No, you've got your terminology wrong.
A Hermaphrodite has two different sets of genitals, basically they're physically and genetically both at once.
Poison was born Genetically male in all versions of the story. In the US, she's post op, and in Japan she "Just tucks herself back to look female".
Meaning they consider her a Post-Op Woman in America and a crossdressing man with implants in Japan.
Sorry, you're right - transvestite.
Anyway, the point I was making is she's not all woman, and that's the bottom line no matter what anyone wants to tell themselves.
I'm in America. She's all woman now. At least anywhere it matters. lol. Still… eww...
IT'S A TRAP!!!

You clearly don't know the kind of shit I'm into. That has nothing to do with it, Poison was developed and put in the game as a simple everyday females, censors and standards just fucked everything up. I choose to believe the creators original intent.
It's funny, Poison really is the most discussed video game character in history.
I can understand being fusty about some other companies DRM (y hello thar EA) but Capcom apologized heartily for not letting it be known you needed a connection to play, and honestly, it is not that serious in this case.
Yes, Yes it is. I should not have to be connected online….TO PLAY SINGLE OR LOCAL MULTIPLAYER. Guess what? The XBOX version doesn't have this. Want to know why? There is no "game-sharing" on XBOX.
Capcom apoligized, not for the DRM, but because they didn't state it in the description of the download. You know what other companies would do? Offer a refund. If the game truly needs you to be online to play the game then a refund is 100% possible to do. You know what, though? They would never do that. You do realize that when they eventually turn the servers off, the game is no longer playable.
For comic books, you can get a refund if the solicits of the book state something that is in the book....EVEN IF IT'S SOMETHING LIKE MORE PAGES!
With the moder video game consoles, however, you are subject to their EULAs (which you must agree to or you can't even use the consoles) that let the companies say that you only own the equipment and not the data. Essentially you are "renting" it from them.
I don't like that. That's my Wii is hacked. I'd do the same to my PS3 if it could be hacked too.

Actually, the Idea to make Poison a male was made during production, before the game's release. It wasn't an after the fact change, they decided at one point, for reasons of the American release or whatever, to make Poison male and then they rolled with it. Every version of that game and every other game, artbook, databook, or what have you that would later talk about Poison carried this over. And when they had the chance to finally make Poison fully female, they went out of their way to make her Female in the US, but said she was Still a man in Japan, because they like the Idea.
Regardless of the reason for the change, changes happen in production all the time. Going by the "Creator's Original Intent" doesn't work unless the creator went on record saying "I hate that they did that to my Character".
By that logic, Zoro isn't a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. He's Buggy's Bodyguard. And Chopper isn't cute, he's ugly. Oda didn't want him to be cute, but the editors insisted.
Seriously.
Can we find common ground by havlng her be like a Bible Black chick? XD Truth be told I like her being futa, but don't think it was the true intention, which is what I've been debating.

First off, a "Futanari" is a Hermaphrodite, which we've already established that Poison is not.
Your overall logic is that it wasn't the creator's original intention that she be a man, but the thing is, that doesn't matter. When a creator of some kind of entertainment property makes something, they RARELY maintain complete control. There's always SOME other party involved who has say and can change shit. Oda has an editor who has been known to intervene from time to time (changing Whitebeard's flag, removing Daddy the Father and Lucci's flashback, making Oda draw Chopper cute, etc)
Hell, in Star Wars Episode V (Empire Strikes Back) the director (who wasn't Lucas) changed a major line. In the end when Leia says "I Love you!" to Han, George Lucas' Script says "I love you too". The Director didn't like it and told Harrison Ford to basically just "Wing it" and he came up with "I Know" for the response.
So if something gets changed, it doesn't necessarily go against the creator, because the creator might either not care about said change, or actually LIKE it. Now, if you wana make the argument that the movie versions of From Hell or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen don't count because they went against the creator's intent, you have a valid argument, because the creator of those (Alan Moore) went on record several times saying he hated them and they fucked up the books. That's why he distanced himself from V for Vendetta and Watchmen, he's never seen either of those movies, and he did so on purpose so he could legitimately have no opinion of them.
So find the article or interview where the creator of Final Fight said "I hated that they changed Poison" and you've got a case. Otherwise… Sorry, Poison's a guy in Japan and a Post-Op Transsexual Woman in America. That's the official story. Though Japan is the country of Origin, so I tend to lean towards that version... I mean, nobody tries to make the argument that Sanji SHOULD be sucking on a Lollypop do they? XD
So yeah, Silence's posts are pretty much straight on the money.
EDIT: Whoa, I typed a LOT... just goes to show what I'm like when I'm bored XD
There is always Roxy guys haha She is all woman.
Futanari has become a much broader term. Most people use it to refer to any fictional female with a dick.
What a joy we've (me) made this thread.
Do Guy and Haggar have a 'trick' like Cody's '2 punches, turn away, 2 punches, turn away'?
Not that I know of… but then again Haggar just has to grab someone for lolpiledriver death.

Syan just admitted he like dickchicks. Haha!
Why is there such gender confusion with her?
Just freaking say she still has a penis in the NA version, or say she's post op in Japan.
FUCKING PICK ONE SO WE CAN ENJOY HER AWESOMENESS.
I totally agree.
I know this one guy that cries when he sees a "sexy 'all-female' version" of Poison.
"When I see Poison, I have my hand on my dick, but I'm afraid to pull it! I don't want to be a fag!!!"
Ah…
