This movie looks like a fucking disaster and a disgrace to the original. Especially when it completely misses the damn point of the original.
In the original, Daniel is a kid that's often bullied by the kids of his school but has a talent. Mr. Miyagi sees this talent in him and is willing to teach him how to defend himself, but also put his talents to use in a recreational manner. Mr. Miyagi HATES fighting and does not approve of using it unless completely necessary. He even refuses to teach Daniel if his intentions are meant to simply fight back against his bullies. It's worth noting that Mr. Miyagi does not offer Daniel any lessons right off the bat but only after an attempt to straighten things out with the bullies' teacher goes south. Miyagi takes on Daniel as his student for a martial arts tournament.
In this, we have the stereotype that all Chinese know kung-fu and that the student is a weakling with nothing to offer than being the token black kid. Not only this, but the master also outright helps the kid out by teaching him martial arts in order to stop being a pussy. It's worth noting that the script uses the protagonist's race as a reason for being bullied and hated, and being given the title "The Karate Kid" as an insult for his lack of knowledge in marital arts (wtf?).
The ultimate retard move is to call this movie "The Karate Kid" when cast members have called this "The Kung Fu Kid", including Jackie Chan. Why is it a retard move? Associating it with the classic 1984 title and the fact that the martials arts taught in the 2010 movie is kung fu, which comes from China, as opposed to the 1984 teaching karate, which is from Okinawa in Japan.
Either way, this movie, from the trailer alone, looks like another fucking insult to a classic underdog story.
