i do, i'm up to book 8 (i think) but it's damn too long and a bit slow imo. i keep reading it coz' it's cool but it takes me, like 1 year to read just one book, because it's so slow, i prefer read other books between it.
an di have to say his writing is quite hard to read for a non natural english speaker. (i don't understand nearly any description)
EDIT: but i don't know who your nick is. plus you should read the rules, your sig is just too big, you have to change it i think.

I'm not a big fan of fantasy books but I'll try to keep the name in my memory for the case if I ever run out of reads. Although I might try out A Song of Ice and Fire series first as I've heard so many goods things about it.
Oh, and I believe this should be in the media section.
-
you're completely right about the media section but if you want to read something really good and if you're not much into fantasy, you should try the belgariad by david eddings. it's really one of the greatest series i've ever read! (and yes i find it a lot better than the lord of the rings)
-
Gosh, I've been thinking about reading Wheel of Time for ages.
I'll probably read it somewhere around next week.
For people who have read it. Is it good?
-
yes it is, but it's veeeeeery long (12 books of 1000 pages each) and there are a LOT of characters and plots.
but well, if that's what you're looking for, go, you won't regret it!
-
i wanted to read it, but apparently i've no time for that now. maybe during my enlistment time in the army.

My, in that case I think there is no reason to hesitate any longer.
I really love books with lots of pages. (This is going to keep me preoccupied, though).
Thanks for the info igalsfy

Tried the first two books about six years ago (early high school), and didn't like it very much. It didn't "click" with me, I guess? It's really wierd; I usually LOVE the high-fantasy sub-genre.

Theres only 10 books out now, 1 more coming out in October(Knife of Dreams) and
Theres only about 600 - 900 pages in each..
Though the 8th one had 1000 and something…
But I went through that one the fastest!Trust me SL its a really good series!
You'll get addicted in no time!!
But the first one isn't really good.. as he probably didn't have a plan then. -
It's rather good I'll agree but halfway through I became tired of jordan's style.
-
Meh..
the only book I didn't/don't like is Crossroads of Twilight (which I'm on)
Its just all this stuff that happened at the end of Book 9!!
And its all politics…. -
Omg~ Fellow aussie WoT reader D:
I always get stuck on book five when I re-read the series. I don't know why… I just get halfway through the book and my interest collapses. I've been a fan for a while though (My brother started reading it before I did, but I don't think he's read the 10th book yet. Slacker...)
I figure, if you're not interested by the end of the 1st book then the rest of the series won't interest you, if for nothing more than the fact that Jordan's style of writing can grate. With that said, however, I think it really picks up around the 3rd book (My personal favourite~)
10 bugged me... a lot. 9 was awesome, but that's part of the problem with 10, because nothing really happened in it DX. I mean, it took half the book to catch up the rest of the characters with the end of 9. 8 Always miffed me slightly as well because Matt wasn't in it 'snif'
The overarching plot is nothing spectacular, but the intricate world, sub-plots and characters are what keep me reading.

I'll have to agree with you Dev on that. The atmosphere the book has is simply brilliant. In a genre that has gotten a bit bland this really outshines others in that respect. But the plot was what let me down.
-
At first I was thinking of Neopets, cuz they have a game callled Wheel Of Time XD
But, no I've bever heard or read Wheel of Time. Maybe I'll pick it up one day
-
Oooh, the new book is just around the corner and I've read a couple of reviews. Long and short of it is that Jordon is making up for the last couple of books. Lots of questions answered, lots of action, leaves you dying for the last book (which should be phenomenol however you spell the word). I'm officially stoked for it.

that's the big problem with the WoT. the atmoshpere is damn brilliant, but the pace is so slow… nearly nothing happens other than politics. i have no problem with that but aes sedai politics is really bothersome...
