Ehhhh, talking about 4kids these days is really old, that is like JacobT.Paschal still talking about what Funi did to DBZ back in the day

Yeah, that annoying bastard. >___>
Gah, still about a month or so before we get to the new set…
-
What episode do you guys think will have the commentary? I'm thinking it'll be the Chopper-centric one.
-
What episode do you guys think will have the commentary? I'm thinking it'll be the Chopper-centric one.
Nah, they already had the chopper focused episode with s2v3 set. I am hoping we get a Luffy or Sanji one.
-
I hope we get stephanie young in the commentary. It'll be nice seeing her vies now that Robin's actually part of the crew. As for where it will be, I'm guessing somewhere in the Rainbow Mist. Funi's been hyping that one arc on this set a lot.
-
Funi, or Toei…
Cuz It got a lot of foreshadowing...a rare thing in fillers.
-
@Zach:
I warn you, it's an old episode: http://www.onepiecepodcast.com/?p=273
Okay, there's the friend I was talking about before (ChibiGoku).
-
So, any way we can give this thread one final 10o0-post hurrah? Maybe a retrospective of how far we've come since the tyranny we originally faced and the bleak, 1&2 seasonless future we almost encountered?

By tyranny, do you mean the King of Bawww, Roman? Reading through those pages…shudders

I was referring to 4Kids, but whatever floats your boat.

I was referring to 4Kids, but whatever floats your boat.
Ah, of course, 4Kids! Those yankee devils! They actually tricked me into thinking that One Piece sucked! Thank Haruhi that misunderstanding was cleared up, am I right?
-
We could probably use this thread right up through the end of the third or beginning of the fourth season.
-
never mention haruhi again and we're good
quit talking about the end until you actually reach it

Funny you should mention that

Indeed my good sir, and it has gotten worse as time passed. The whole fact of Dragonball Z Kai being aired on Nick is probably proof of that.
-
If five years ago you had told me that Dragonball was going to be remade and air on Nick, I would have said you were nuts. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
-
The DBZ fandumb is actually majorly pissed that the god of all anime won't return to the glorious Cartoon Network.
-
What's all this stuff I keep hearing about Season Two Sixth Voyage having the 'Family' song in it? Yeah, I know it was used as a special ending for the Alabasta arc, but is FUNi actually gonna include it on the DVD set?
-

Family as a special ending in Alabasta was just something K-F added themselves for the heck of it. We've actually gotten confirmations from people who have the RAWs that this "special ending" was never present in the Japanese version. Also, the FUNi-DVD that wasn't going to include and didn't include Family is already out.
-
Okay, there's the friend I was talking about before (ChibiGoku).
You said that friend was a guy, ChibiGoku's female IIRC.
-
No, CG's a guy. :wassat:
-
Was it already pointed out that, once again, the textless Hikari E in the extras has the gold logo instead of the original? I hope they don't forget to set that straight before we move to Bon Voyage…
-

Some people have been saying that the "Family" ending was in the japanese TV airings, just not the R2J DVDs, and that what K-F did was supposedly replicate this themselves.

Got both Season 2 4th and 5th voyage today. Have watched a few episodes of 4th voyage and though his voice seemed a bit deep on Drum, Ace really sounds pretty good in the Funi dub…though a little too much like Zoro at times.
-
my 6th voyage should be here any day cant wait
-

Just because he likes guys doesn't mean he's a girl.
-
@Zach:
I started the One Piece Podcast in May with my friend who's rarely on here. Since then we have added members of Arlong Park including Firecrouch, Steve Yurko also known as Dragon Warrior/Sanjiscool of Dub Piece, Greg of www.thegrandline.com, Jason (EvilGamerX/J-Sack) one of the founders of this very site, The Dude an Administrator of Arlong Park Forums, dirtmonkey_AL, Demon Rin who's coming back soon , Funkatron a moderator from Toonzone's Anime Forum. We've also been joined by Tsukento of the 4Kids Worst 10, Doctor of the SSAA Podcast, Sketch and Ralbas of Faux Nami Productions, and a lot more I'm probably missing and I apologize if I did.
lol that was actually a rhetorical statement.
-

That's not true either. K-F Owned up to it, they just did it in a very old forum post at their forums that you have to sift through a lot to get to.
-
6th Voyage arrived exactly yesterday, I expected it to arrive a week sooner like most people here from RightStuf, oh well. Now everyone thinks Daz Bones is dead…
-
Just because he likes guys doesn't mean he's a girl.
Sorry, must've confused him with someone else.
-
Thought I'd tell you guys some news you can take however you like. No One Piece on the FUNI June 2010 solidications list.
-
Well….yeah.
We're getting the next one in May, we don't often get back to back releases.
-
As long as they stick to every two months, I'm perfectly fine with it.
-
When I spoke to Adam at Katsucon and NekoCon he confirmed that "they were keeping to the release every two month schedule." He said it provided people the quickest releases while still having the ability to save up money to buy each set. Mike McFarland also explained that when you over-saturate the market with more than one release at a time, often both do worse. I'd be willing to say that you (anyone) can probably make an accurate prediction of when all the Season 3 DVDs come out…by just going one release every two months. Once/if we get to Season 4, all bets are off.

In other words we will be getting Season 3 First Voyage on July, Second on September, Third on November, Fourth on January 2011, and Fifth on March 2011…cool Season 3 will be over by exactly next year, Season 4 is almost there.

The ending was in the tv airing, but it hadn't been released on dvd at the time that KF subtitled the episode, so it was recreated from scratch. Later on it was released as an extra on the Japanese dvd of tv special 2 and 3 iirc. It was either that or one of the many promotional opening/ending dvds.

Can anyone actually prove this?!
It just seems like a lot of people trying to Justify that K-F added that, but does anyone have the actual Raw version? Maybe even with the credits still intact?I'm not saying it does or does not exist, all I'm saying is: someone bring proof to the table.
Family WAS on the actual TV Specials, it was the actual ending for those Specials. Maybe you're thinking of that and getting mixed up? Maybe they DID play the "special ending" with clips of Vivi and the Straw Hats over that, and K-F liked it for the end of Baroque works or something.
Unless someone can produce a TV Raw with credits or something, this is just all "He-said she-said" with absolutely no evidence.
Also, regardless, if the ending really was there on TV it was removed from the DVDs in Japan, so it stands to measure it'd be removed from the DVDs here too. You can't blame FUNimation for something Toei did.
-

A thousand apologies for my childishness, but I sense that there's a "that's what she said" joke just waiting to be said. So, for lack of anything wittier or more sensible to reply with, that's what she said.
Sorry, I just can't resist lame jokes. But anyway, what I intially intended to post before getting sidetracked:
What do you guys think constitutes a "good deal" on the One Piece sets? Once I save up some cash, I'm going to start shopping for sales on the rest of the Season Two sets (4-7). The least I've paid for a set was $30 (Season One, Second Voyage @ DeepDiscount), and the most I've paid was $50 (Season One, First Voyage @ AFW5). I know $50 is the "suggested price," but what do you guys normally buy them for? A few weeks ago I thought getting one set for $40 was a "good deal," but after reading a few of the older posts in this thread I'm pretty sure I could've found a better deal.

I've paid $30 for every single volume.
Just wait until The Right Stuff has a FUNimation sale and then order the DVDs. All of them only cost $30 with a FUNimation sale, it's great. -

Yeah, whip out those eight year old tv raws!
Also, regardless, if the ending really was there on TV it was removed from the DVDs in Japan, so it stands to measure it'd be removed from the DVDs here too. You can't blame FUNimation for something Toei did.
Who cares. This has absolutely no impact on funi whatsoever.

I'll do that, especially since RightStuf seems to send out the sets a week or two in advance. Oh, but how often does RightStuf have FUNi sales? I don't think I'll have enough cash to get totally caught up right away, so if the next sale is rather soon I might have to wait until the following sale.
-
Yeah, whip out those eight year old tv raws!
What I'm saying is, all we have to go off of here is fans saying "I know it was there". The only evidence we have are the Japanese DVDs… and those don't use it at all...
I mean, you can't trust fans on something like this without proof, plain and simple. If we could, then that also means Akira Toriyama is dead! It's true, I talked to a Dragon Ball fan who says his dad's friends cousin's gardener's brother lives in Japan and is bestest best friends with Toriyama, and he says he died of a heart attack!Who cares. This has absolutely no impact on funi whatsoever.
Yeah, that's exactly what I said.

I think we're kinda seeing that with the manga speed up with almost none of the volumes making the Top 10 manga sales lists.
-

It just seems like a lot of people trying to Justify that K-F added that, but does anyone have the actual Raw version? Maybe even with the credits still intact?I only have the DVD raws in which it doesn't exist. However, if EGX and Roboblue say it aired on TV in Japan, then I'm inclined to believe them.

Yeah, hearing it come from those two makes me feel like it really will stay that way. I'm perfectly fine waiting every other month (seeing as Rightstuff ships it like 4 weeks early… okay 2 weeks early, same thing, right? ). But really, two months is hardly a wait at all for me. It's when it goes 3-4 that it gets a little redundant.
Mike also confirmed that, as far as he knows, there is no indication that any movies or TV specials will be released yet. Hopefully they will eventually.

I'd believe that the special aired on TV, but as you said, there's no point in getting mad at FUNi for not even having it in the DVD raws they were given. It's not like, even if they had a TV version, they could just use a crappy tv rip on an official DVD release.
I think the main thing is everyone wanted to hear the dub version of Family. When the season 3 DVDs come out, we may be able to rip that one campfire scene and get a halfway decent dub track.
that's what she said.

Yeah, wait for the FUNi sale as Rin said and then preorder it. If you preorder it during a sale, you will get it for that price when it ships out. In your case, seeing as you are buying ones already released, waiting for the sale will allow you to get the 3 sets out already for around 90 bucks approximately. And you can order the 7th voyage and not be charged until around early May and late April when it ships out. Also pick standard shipping in your case. If you are ordering one and want the DVD right away, as I often do, I will be willing to pay the more expensive two day shipping, but if you are buying more than one, the smartest method is to wait the extra day or two.
I've paid $30 for every single volume.

You or anyone else know how often they have them? I'm waiting to preorder 7th voyage until they have it, or at least another good sale that lets me order it for around 30 dollars. I'll wait on my D.Grayman until then as well.

They have them periodically, so fare there's been at least one for every single set, we still have about a month and 10 days until the new set hits, so we have time. I'm confident there will be one. I'm waiting to preorder the S2 V7 and DBox 3 till the sale hits.

I hope so. Speaking of which, isn't Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood supposed to be starting this month? That'll be another thing I'll have to spend for as well.
