Someone's been posting the entire thing scanned on the chans.
I'm surprised no one caught this sooner, I mean the main character SCREAMS Alucard Jr from panel 1.

I noticed that a fangirl/boy posted this on his DA.
I think you guys should step back and take a breath. How do you know that Mr. Simmons copied from TITTIE KUBO and not the other way around? The japs have shown themselves to be island rats without the slightest trace of originality numerous times. It would not surprise me in the least if it turns out that KUBO is the one plagiarizing Simmons.
Wow…just...wow....
But then again...that person did just join so it could be one of his lackeys.
So is the Facebook is really fake or not? And what is his DA page? anyone have the link?

It's being quite thuroughly trashed…
Is it bad that I've been refreshing that page every so often and laughing hysterically?
The guy on this video already noticed Nick Simmons ripping off stuff from various manga and anime when he reviewed Incarnate during the released of the comic last year. His review are at 2.51-3.46.

Wow I love how people freaked out over this for a couple of hours and then it's almost totally forgotten XD
Wauw, I'm watching that vid of him talking about his comic and he's ripping off super hero comic books. I am raging so hard I will turn into magma man.
I can't help but laugh at this guys comments.
I wonder how much Nick paid him.

At a guess, a Hellsing fan probably did catch this a while back, but it only really became big news when people realized that he was ripping off Bleach. Whatever state the series is in now, it's popularity is well beyond that of Hellsing.

That's because this matter was resolved within one day.
I personally enjoy how this thing going. First we got to see people from Bleachness posted the Kenpachi's page asking for opinion, and then some of them they layered it together with Nick's drawing. Then someone suggested people to tell Viz or Jump about this.
The best part of it is when we actually get a response from Kubo on his freaking Twitter. Later we found out Viz already have a team to handle this and now we are confirmed that Incarnate publication has been halted by the company that published it. Gotta love the power of Internet. I'm glad I'm in this before this becomes old news one day.
Same as me. Right now I need the full confirmation on whatever the facebook account is fake or not so I can finish the blog or I'll simply post the links,
"Where did you get the idea from? Did you think of this all by yourself"
Nick: "I uh… read some Japanese comic books..."
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Dear lord, this shithead…
Oh damn, Bleach Protection Day came to an end and I forgot to get wasted.
Nick Simmons - The only thing he did right was give me another reason to drink.

This whole incident initially made me lose more faith in humanity. The resolution of this incident quickly restored my lost faith.

As they say, great minds think alike.
…Except when you're copying a great mind like Nicky boy. Even if you don't count Kubo as a "great mind", Kubo still has way more talent than Simmons does.
Wow. Everything went to hell in one day. Akianu is pleased.

The facebook stuff was a troll.
just checking back in to make sure this guy is still a douchebag
oh he still is?
alrighty then
OMG i've never seen such a retard, copying a average manga like bleach.
And his own art is so bad it hurts, i would say every member, who posted in the art section is better then him. The thing that really hurts is the copying of FMA and One Piece. He deserves a heavy beating for the poorly Croc rip-off.
At least Viz is at it and hopefully Shueisha joins, too.

Everyone keeps saying he copied FMA too, but that's the only one I DON'T See him copying, can someone show me where he copied FMA?
Also, ANN got a comment from Viz, their Legal team is on it.
A lot of you guys are saying his art sucks. After looking through his DA drawings, I thought that they were really good. Just because he traced Bleach, OP, and many other manga doesn't mean he sucks at drawing, which makes me wonder, if he's this good at drawing, why didn't he just draw his comic himself?

Who's to say he didn't heavily reference something else for those drawings he did on his DA?
And some of those realistic ones are extremely amateur.
With my talent I could (poorly) BS some animu person in a front view (to a certain point) and even profile, but when it would come to doing my own poses I'd be like "uhhhhh…"
I have a feeling that is exactly what he's doing, though he's not merely referencing other works, he's downright tracing and then adding some of his own (but that's barely true too, especially with Alucard Jr and the blonde chick)
That's one thing if you're a DAfag (referencing poses, NOT downright tracing and blatant copying) that's drawing because their bored/it's just a hobby, but totally unforgiveable in a professional setting.
Sadly that's how a lot of people are, it's usually because they are lazy and/or they've received a BS training in the arts (considering his age, he probably did in HS. My HS art class was a joke) that they have no idea what they're doing... and again too lazy to really put in the time and effort to learn how to do it right and on their own.

Yeah, but all of those look like Hellsing, I haven't seen ANY FMA.
I haven't seen anything that specifically screams "FMA"

He said the first time around his art was denied.
But I agree, he's not THAT bad. I've seen some art on here and can definitly say he's better than a few people here. People are just saying his art is terrible because he copied off of other things.
But his art, is nowhere NEAR comic quality. I mean, you don't need to be completely great at drawing to get a published comic, but you definitely need a precise style that's enjoyable to look at, and fits the theme.
A perfect example is Mike Mignola. Hellboy isn't the best art out there, but the style fits the theme, and I couldn't see the comic drawn any other way.
Where as Nicks style, moves all over the place. Semi-realistic emo-ness, random big eyed generic anime, back to emoness. It's just too varied to even be considered for a comic.
Kubo Tite is just too badass.
CNN is even on the case.

He basically made some kind of sick lovechild of Crocodile from One Piece and Greed from FMA.
It's mostly Croc, but the face looks an awful lot like Greed.

Lol, Kubo's carefree attitude about this whole thing really makes me laugh.
Bleach Protection Day was deleted from wiki.

I don't see ANY Greed in that shot. He looks like Crocodile Mixed with Alucard. He's got Alucard's Glasses and his trademark Grin.
The way Hirano draws shark-toothed grins is pretty much exactly the same as Arakawa draws Greed's.
Look
!
Glasses + Teeth = Alucard
Occums Razor says the simplest solution is usually the correct one. It's simpler to say he just took that from Croc and Alucard than to try to complicate matters by adding in another influence.
Another comparison–he ripped off Luffy getting impaled by Croc.
[hide][/hide]
I certainly see Alucard in there more than Greed, but the side panel does look a little like him. Others said so first, which is the only reason I thought that. I think it's because of one particular shot with the teeth in Brotherhood or something.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter to me in the end. Bleach and Hellsing were the most affected here in the long run, so those two are probably the only ones that will really be involved in this lawsuit, IMO.
King Calamari posted this in the Bleach thread. This kid had the audacity to rip-off the Croc (and Alucard + Greed, apparently).

ripping off mangakas is one thing, but ripping off an actual graphic novel which is amazing.((AND ONE PIECE)) Not called for. jfs. :|

Fuck you Dick Semens!!![/hide]
LOL
Who is this Nick Simmons guy? I really don't get the fuzz about this one.
This is a rather talentless guy who ripped off two famous series in the most obvious, clumsiest manner, and still wasn't able to produce something decent.
It's something that makes you shake your head and go "How dumb can you be…?" but not be actually offended: It's just too bad for that...
I completely understand Kubo's reaction...
Did he get all the attention because his daddy is famous?
He's the lame ass son of a Rock God.
Well, the Facebook comments might have been fake, but this little gem is definitely real:

I saw a comment on dA that made me smile. They said Incarnate isn't a Bleach ripoff, because Incarnate actually has backgrounds.
LOL. Sorry for not contributing anything of any use to this thread, but I cannot ignore a failing in scientific observation.

Voila! The color wheel!
http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff187/ymokriy/th_color-wheel.jpg
That's a digital color selection tool, it's not the actual color wheel. Traditional media operates on combinations of the primary colors red, blue, and yellow. For whatever reason, monitor colors use red, blue, and green.
Both art and writing require contrast. A comic with nothing but one-dimensional badass characters would be incredibly boring. That's why Usopp is the greatest fucking character ever.
@Mr.:
That's a digital color selection tool, it's not the actual color wheel. Traditional media operates on combinations of the primary colors red, blue, and yellow. For whatever reason, monitor colors use red, blue, and green.
Its because yellow is only pure when its SOLID yellow. If you add any shade into it at all it starts to become dingy and you have to start adding other colors into it, like red, to keep it pure and yellow looking. As a result, using yellow you can only create a certain ammount of the spectrum, while green reamins green consistently as it gets darker.
[hide]With red blue and green you can make any color in the spectrum. Its how printer plates are set up. Yellow just doesn't work quite the same way, it can only get to like, 92% of all colors. Also with yellow the color wheel has a heavy lime and orange bias. (Red orange is nearly identical to orange, and orange-yellow is a lot closer to what is traditionally considered orange.)
The reason red, yellow and blue is so dominant is because they contrast well, and lead to the secondaries, orange green and purple, the opposites always look great against each other (red/green, yellow/purple, blue/orange) and nearly any mixture of those colors can lead to the other colors and they make a pretty picture of a wheel where you can easily rationalize "this color plus this color makes that color". When dealing with paint and traditional coloring medium that works fine.
But yellow actually has a lot of red in it naturally, when coloring by adding shading (black) it can turn to a nasty green very easily, so you have to keep adding red to keep a yellow tone to it. Yellow doesn't make itself after shading comes into it, but green remains green.
Its wierd, took me forever to get used to because I was trained on the artist color wheel, which is designed with hundreds of years of tradition with paints and complementaries in mind, but doesn't actually make anywhere near all the colors, and in actual practice, it doesn't work in digital, you ahve to keep adding red to keep yellow pure, or it goes dingy. Its strange, but true.[/hide]
Of course, then there's always working in cmyk, which is a different can of worms entirely.
Here's a quick thing I did up to demonstrate adding black corrupts the yellow.
[hide]
See how the yellow gets nasty REAL qick on its own? Adding red to it keeps it yellow-ish, but it starts turning brown in a hurry, and really isn't yellow anymore, while green remains green.[/hide]

Huh. I'd noticed that, didn't realize that was the reason. That actually makes a lot of sense.
