@rusashi:
This arc has just been bad and bland. The villain is terrible, while I like poison powers, he just showed up out of nowhere, this arc will probably have little effect on the story, and the concept of the Dark Amimaya is just terrible.
Huh…? That's so vague. The "arc" has only been about nine chapters, and the "villain" was introduced and suspiciously curious about information eight chapters ago. It's no different than any new character being introduced in any other series. This guy didn't even confirm he was bad until five chapters ago, so all things considered the plot and arc has moved forward at a decently swift pace. I have no clue why you think the arc will have little affect on the story, as it concerns a fail safe for the primary villain. I'll agree that Amamiya's split personality isn't the most original "plot twist" in the book, but at least it was foreshadowed and then established long before this particular arc began. Oh, and it didn't steal the focus of this arc and has already been suppressed for later in the story, which in my opinion is better than a huge twist that derails the plot for months and months. Plus, it makes complete sense given her personality and character development since chapter 1. Completely true to her character, unlike other series that pull this stuff out of their ass.
@fdsfgfs:
I guess the main issue is that there isn't any feeling to it anymore. Every time I see a child with superpowers or someone blow up a city with a tree or some shit I just sort of roll my eyes.
??? The amount of characters in this series, especially ones with powers, is pretty small. I think the problem is that people forget what has been established because this isn't super popular and it doesn't get discussed a lot. Like Rika, the girls with a scar, who was introduced in chapter 44 and who's power lines up with what we see her doing at that time. Those who don't read and discuss it a lot forget mcuh of what has been hinted at or established, and then when someone "out of the blue" happens they call it a plot hole or something, when really they just don't know the series that well. I mean, if you don't like the story or characters, that's your own prerogative, but since you both point out things and claim they are bad…I just don't really understand.
@Big_Bad_Lith:
I really see how the overall feeling went from "survival" to "psychic fight".
Another complaint I honestly don't understand. The emphasis never really was about survival, but fighting to protect and change the future. The whole survival aspect was only around for the first Psyren call, for obvious reasons. The second call was after they had just learned the very basics of psi, with them fighting Tatsuo, and was our first "psychic fight". Everything since then has revolved around the WISE and the Star Commanders. Even still, almost all of the (individual) fights have been, at most, three or so chapters with decent art and powers being displayed each time. On top of that, there has been an ongoing plot that has remained consistent since pretty much the first chapter, with "twists" foreshadowed well ahead of time.
Again, I'm not saying Psyren is extremely original or amazing or anything, but I think it has been consistent and interesting, and at the very least shows signs that the author plans well ahead of time, rather than writing himself into corners and whipping out some plot devices to carry him out.
