Well here, I made you a new one you can abuse:
That's the ONLY funny 'Ace is dead' picture I've ever seen (fan art wise, anyway). Fucking AWESOME.

That makes me wish there was a newer version JUMP All-Stars available on the Wii… in English...
This chapter was a serious goldmine. My next recap is done:
I liked it a lot…
Akainu's punch in that drawing resembles FALKOR from NEVERENDING STORY… XD
What really bothers me is that I feel like Oda created Ace only to kill him, his sole purpose in the story was to die. I mean, Ace didn't do much, and the first time he appears, he is already marching towards his death by chasing Blackbeard.
And also there are references to death, with the name of his crew, Ace of Spades, and the 2 panels in this chapter similar to the smiley hat he has from the very beginning ; like he was already destined to die then. It's as if Ace was there only to develop the story (the consequences of Ace's death are sure to be huge, and it would be the perfect opportunity for a timeskip), and to develop Luffy as a character, as Luffy will definitely mature and change in some way after a traumatic experience like that.
So I find his death even more sad, in a way Oda never gave him a chance to truly exist.
While that is most likely true, that's what makes this death so much more powerful. It symbolizes so many things.
-Rogers bloodline is now extinct
-Rogers era began with his death and now ends with his son's.
-The obvious fact that Luffy is gonna develop some crazy ass strength (control over haki?)
-But it also symbolizes the growth Luffy will experience as a character. Every other SH has a tragic past, Luffy doesn't. Now he does. Now there's more to him than just becoming the Pirate King.
That last one I think is the most important. I think that in the future Dragon is going to use Luffy to destroy the WG by playing the "they killed your brother card." A conflicted Luffy would be quite dramatic and interesting I think. But if this happens it won't be for a long time.

Wow, I never thought of that, it could really happen…

I was thinking a pretty interesting scenario would be if Iva took Luffy with him and headed back to headquarters. It would make for a good place for Luffy to recuperate without being found since no one knows where the Revolutionaries are. Then he'd end up meeting his father when he woke up.
I don't think Dragon would use Luffy though. Maybe more of a let's work together to achieve a common goal.
Dragon should be from the NW, since his "random" island on chapter 438 or something is about that… I think that Palagendo or Paladega is an island in the NW much like how Oda doesn't "state" the boundaries of which part of the GL people are located on, like Shanks wasn't stated and many other people aren't.
So, I do think that Dragon will appear somewhere around the middle of the NW or end of the NW, and not next arc or this arc...

While I cannot disprove your point, I do not believe that Dragon would use Luffy in such a way. Currently, Dragon has been characterized as a parent who misses his child deeply, and always thinks about him (hence his constant looking towards the east). Due to this fatherly love, Dragon would not use Luffy like this and send his emotions into turmoil. I am of the opinion that Dragon has his own plans and does not need Luffy in order to take down the World Government (Dragon has been a Rebel for a long time while Garp was training luffy to be a MARINE-How could Dragon have predicted that Luffy would become a pirate?) .
Also, Ivankov has not thought about using Luffy in any way to further their goals (he would know if luffy was to play a big role in dragon's plans because he is his right hand man-even though he has been out of touch for a while). I believe this shows he has respect for him, and will not manipulate him.
Also, will Luffy stray from his path to becoming Pirate King? I don't think so

Interesting…
And since the revolutionaries have seemingly picked up
Hmmm...
With the timeskip at hand, i think this question turns quite serious:

That depends on what oda wants honestly i want to see how this arc ends so far the war arc has been wicked and epic. One Piece has been reborn as a true manga in my eyes.
~I am one bound to the powers of the Gomu Gomu Fruit. I shall Overcome everyone to become the Pirate King~
first, the scanslation is on www.onemanga.com/onepiece, second Im pretty sure Luffy is gonna go ape-shit and kick everyones ass, then they escape with an not dead Whitebeard in tote

If luffy kicks the admiral asss. OP turns into a joke.
I see a good revenge song coming…

and A mature luffy @ his full rage. like: I've never thought i'd use it here.. Sorry ace, godfather.. and all of you.. RUMBLE! Gear 0.
FEW WEEKS LATER, LUFFY WAKES UP AND FIND HIMSELF @ FISHMAN ISLAND WITH ALL THE REST OF HIS NAKAMAS N INVOLVED WB PIRATES after causin a damage(a TIGHT warning to akainu and especially the mofo kizaru. scar on akainu's face maybe?).:ninja:

Isn't right now the best time to do a timeskip ?
This arc was done to set a new era, there is nothing left to see here. Ace is dead, Luffy seems to be out of service, WB has already destroyed Marineford, anything more would be boring. Akainu shouldn't be beaten by luffy/marco/vista/jimbei/garp/WB/anyone right now, because i feel like he'd be a good fleet admiral in this new era. Blackbeard won't show up since him and his crew wouldn't risk to enter a war where they are useless and probably considered as traitor by both WB and marine's clan.
I like the theory of Luffy being taken away to the Dragon's headquarters, they do have the possibility to find and bring all the strawhat crew there, but since it should be deep in the new world I don't know how they would go back to SA.
@DEE:
Seriously what the hell is this? Hair growth and Luffy somehow adopts Ms. Doublefinger's DF?
Or is this just using Mr. Fantastic's malleability? Cuz even with the gear 2 & 3 upgrades Luff is still rubber.
Kinda cool to see tho.
When you people say time skip you are just talking about a few days yes?
I didn't expect Oda to pull off Ace's death so well. The only downside is the withdrawals symptoms that come with a great chapter ending.
As for next weeks chapter I'm clueless as to what direction it might go. Either Luffy reminiscing on his childhood, or maybe some rage.
Though this might be a good chance for Oda to start dabbling in one of the many other options and characters that have been on hold for a while.
Now that Ace has been killed, I wonder if this means Shirohige will survive this arc?
I think Whitebeard is going to repeat his order for the NW Pirates to retreat and then goes apeshat.
If Whitebeard is destined to die in this arc, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take out a very prominent marine before doing so.
When you people say time skip you are just talking about a few days yes?
More something between a month and a year. Enough to see all the SH surrounding Luffy while he's waking up.

I hope that it's at least a month, or something, just to count all of the hormone and other stuff and to give the crew enough to return… So, it's been like 10 days already, so another two or three weeks should be ample time.
I'm seriously slowly getting to making a FST T__________________________T
It feels like it's been forever since Ace's death, but it's only been 3 days T_____________________T GOD LORD.

THIS IS ONEPIECE!!!!!!!! GOTCHA!!!!!?
Lmfao, I kid homie, you're Most welcome, I know this won't happen, but just lets hope we can see a VERY MAD LUFFY before this arc ends.
Hahahahahahaha! Holy shit.

Eh more than a week sounds to long for my taste.
Eh more than a week sounds to long for my taste.
It's said Luffy needs at least 2 more days of resting for the 10 year cure thing… We don't know what effect vigour gives off, so we can't have any certainty on that.
Say it takes like 2 weeks or three for Robin and Chopper to return or something, then we can basically have enough time for Luffy to rest and recover...
It's probably going to be like 2 chapters or less though... It shouldn't be like a whole 20 arc worth of stuff... If it is, Oda will rightfully prolong FI again and add a Marijoes arc for the heck of it.
Eh more than a week sounds to long for my taste.
There are two possibilities :
I can't imagine anything else than Luffy recovering during weeks after that, and I can't imagine his nakama not to come back during that time.

I feel bad for laughing but that was awesome. :D

Yknow I'm not even sure that they are going to come looking for him, i think it's gonna be the other way around. But that's mostly because it to me would feel kinda forced if they all just suddenly plopped up with some lame reason like -Yeah Kuma swung around and pawed us right back, so once you're back on your feet we can go pirating again.
This image made me cry more than the chapter god damn it

The last time any of the Straw-hats saw Luffy he was on the archipelago, for all they know anything could have happened to him. So I'm fairly certain they'll all want to make it back to Shabondy and find him ASAP. It doesn't make sense for Luffy to look for his crew when he has no idea where to start.
@Kairouseki:
Hahahahahahaha! Holy shit.
LMFAO @ pic
Also, I've just noticed….isn't Blackbeard suppose to rock the world to it's core?
It would be the best scenario atm if he show'd up and started a big ruckus with his crew and _________ <------ insert weapon/ characters here
I mean it would be the best time since the pirates are looking closer and closer to being done for. The pirates are mostly wore out, WB will probably lose his mind any moment now which isn't good for the WG or Pirates......BB entrance would be best right now.

They won't look for Luffy, they have vivre cards that lead to Rayleigh's location…
Rayleigh, during the chapter after "Rayleigh and Roger", said he would be there on SA after three days with the ship coated, waiting for them.
He gave them Vivre cards and then they were zapped off in random directions... Like Luffy showed, those things will point to Rayleigh's location every time, so we don't have to have a forced thing...
I don't have an idea how long it takes for the people to get back since I don't know their locations on the Grand Line... If they are close, they'll be there faster than others.
It's been 10 days since that incident though. So, it's been like a week at most since Rayleigh's three day task should have been completed.
Since the crew has had a week to at least do something, it could mean that they'll return faster than expected, at least the ones closer to SA.
As long as Luffy ends up by rayleigh, they can all meet each other again.
@Low-fi:
It doesn't make sense for Luffy to look for his crew when he has no idea where to start.
Well that's no biggie, they'll most likely be with Rayleigh.
Not saying that they arent lookin for him, or traveling toward SA. Just saying that i dont buy this all the strawhats will be standing by his bed when he wakes up jazz.
Think it'll be a while before they see each other again, and when they will be seeing each other again Luffy will be back on his feet and he will be the one meeting up with them back at the boat not the other way around.
This was the reason why Oda-sensei wasn´t killing any important characters in the present time.
He was saving it for Ace…
As long as Luffy ends up by rayleigh, they can all meet each other again.
That's a pretty big if right there, i mean why would anyone of the pirate crews there be taking him down to the marines backyard. If anything they'd take him with them on their retreat into the new world.

Ohoho, I beg to differ. From NF.

It'd be possible since there are characters of high bounty like Rayleigh and Shakky [assumptions] staying there without trouble. It's possible that the bar they stay at remains peaceful and if Hatchi and Caimie are able to relax, it could mean that Luffy could too.

It's a little diffrent nowdays aint it, if it was just another week day then certainly keeping a low profile could work just fine.
But when you're fleeing from a war that's made headlines all over the world with the poster child of the losing side in your care you wouldnt normaly run straight into the enemies stronghold now would you?
Not to mention that said man is gravely wounded and most likely needs medical treatment, while being hidden from any prying eyes, since Luffy is now a household name and if he's seen by virtualy anyone in Sabondy they'll most likely tip of the Marines. Just doesnt sound safe to me, but i could very well be wrong.
My guess is they'll bring him into the new world, where he'll rub elbows with the bigwigs some more, have some moments with Ace's comrades where we find out what happens to the WB crew and then when he's all healed up he'll rejoin his comrades.
I was thinking chain chomp when I saw Luffy too

Very true! He does look very Chain Chomp-ish!

I can see it happen, but I'd hate to see him go ahead of the crew and see something in the future that they would share together…
Personally, I just keep having this vision that Luffy + Crew will experience the NW entrance like they did with the first half of the Grand Line, not with Luffy + WB Crew.
It could go many ways and stuff...
It's just something that I think would be better shown with characters like Hatchi and Caimie giving back to the guy that saved them, like they actually did something the whole time…
Before then, those characters haven't really had much of anything in the manga up to that point, especially Caimie.
If Luffy heads to future places, it sort of changes the whole discovery feeling he would get...
If he goes back to AL, most likely it would endanger that island.
If he goes with Iva-san, it would mean Dragon or higher up Revolutionaries would play a big part and some detour will stop FI from happening again.
If he goes to ID then a new rescue arc has to happen... Or if he gets caught by Marines, then the same happens.
But if he heads to SA, the whole situation isn't as grave and nothing is troubled in any sense, he is just passed onto a new group to watch over and all that Vivre Card ordeal stuff is finally over with.
