For those of you who don't know yet, two films by Isao Takahata will be released next Tuesday: Pom Poko, and My Neigbors the Yamadas. However, the Best Buy I was at released them early, and I got my copies. I've only seen Pom Poko, and it's one of the greatest anime films ever!
Two Takahata films released on 8/16!

Excellent. Takahata really gets overlooked a lot (by mainstream fans) I think, simply because he does work under Studio Ghibli and people automatically think "Oh, it's Miyazaki." Anyways, that's good news, I'll have to see if I can find them now.

I think it's a common misconception that Disney dubbing the Ghibli movies means that they'll ruined. The good thing about them is that well-known live-action actors are cast. Pom Poko wasn't, though. Most of the cast as far as I know is well-known cartoon voices: Maurice Lamarche as the narrator, John Dimaggio (Bender-Futurama), Clancy Brown(Mr. Krabbs-Spongebob Squarepants), and Tress McNellie.
Disney actually does a great job. I admit that I was a bit worried when Disney dubbed Spirited Away. The only problem I found was the subtitles in most of them are more like dubtitles.

Japanese Ghibli fans would beg to differ but I'd have to agree if for nothing less than the history it gives on Shikoku.

My mom was seriously weirded out by Pom Poko. When she saw it with me, I think she thought it was a documentary because of the narrator. My brother and I cracked up at My Neighbors the Yamadas. He was making comments on how weird the animation was.
